The lessons Lindsay Shepherd learned

She became famous for showing a sixty second video of Jordan Peterson to a university class, for which she was almost sacked and would have been except she had taped the inquisition with the three-person tribunal who had tried to do her over. She has learned a very great deal since that time.

Its a bit like the employee who makes the change to being a employer, how do the attitudes change!

    “Melbourne says no to Nazis”

I’m not convinced there are Nazis in Australia. Nazis exterminate certain peoples or talk about doing that and I just don’t see that happening in Australia.

The right wing activist folk need to avoid that rally. The Greens are waiting to humiliate them and focus media attention on them as Nazis as they turn up to the rally. A trap for them, they really need to avoid that stoush.

She’s being sued by the two professors who monstered her.
They have showed to the world what slimeballs they are.

They show to the world exactly what piles of excrement they are.

    Melbourne says no to Nazis”

If they is one thing international socialists hate, it’s national socialists. Those false friends betrayed them in 1941, and the left never forget.

Well should go along and do the old fashioned womanly thing and slap their faces!

The ready unthinkingly bandying about of the word ‘Nazi’ is becoming a substitute for defending society.

And yet, what is it they think the similarity to Nazis? Politically there is nothing. Economically nothing. They aren’t looking to conquer other nations and supplant their populations, enslave them, purge the history books, appoint lackeys topositions of power, propagandise children to make the ‘right kind’ of next generation, etc.

Of all the things that made the Nazis infamous iris pretty hard to find a connection. In fact, excluding the ‘invading’ bit, the above better describes the people crying “Nazi”, rather than those decried as such.

So far as I can discern the only thing seems to be what they consider to be racism. But the racism for which the Nazis are most condemned is best summed up as the Holocaust. They sought down their own population, imprisoned for nothing more than being J3w5 or Gypsies and sadistically murdering them in their millions.

The mob in St Kilda desire none of this. They were made up of Anglos, non-Anglo Europeans, Asians, I suspect some Maoris and such, and quite possibly other Africans. They demanded the same legal principles be applied to gangs as everyone else.

The basis for crying “Nazi” really is nothing more than construing a ‘race’ dimension to the crowd. The screamers make a connection between this and their ignorant reduction of ‘Nazi’ to generic racism and it is done.

And the fact they could find one or two guys making Nazi salutes is dubious as proof because the salute was also not what made the Nazis so reviled. If the crowd had done it that would be one thing, but a couple of isolated instances means the context to interpret their meaning is it there. Certainly they can’t be held to typify the crowd more than all the rest who did not make the gesture.

But the people screaming ‘Nazi’ have no real idea what they are suggesting. And their belief that they themselves cannot possibly be Nazis is why they so blithely drift into the evils that made the Nazis into incarnate Evil.

The real possibility for a recurrence of the horrors that have seen the Nazis condemned lies on the side of Antifa, and they would recreate them without the slightest awareness they were doing it.

    Moderation again.

    Perhaps necesary, definitely disgusting.

    Like sewers.

    To Candy at 12.33pm:

Not convinced that there are Nazis in Melbourne?

Have a look at Dodgy Dan’s ‘Redshirts’ (or ‘Whiteshirts’, or ‘Brownshirts’ or ‘Blackshirts’, or whatever coloured shirt he has disguised them in this particular week).

They’ll steal the shirt off your back and then use the embezzled loot to cheat their way to victory at the next State Election with the collusion of bent Cabinet Members, while the A.L.P.’s hand-picked blind, deaf, dumb and bought Police Chief snores away another 3 years – unless temporarily prodded into bleary-eyed wakefulness by the conscientious State Ombudsman’s boot, once again.

Raus! Raus! Raus From Mein Haus!

She makes a lot of sense.
Unfortunately, until the university attempted to shut her down, she was of a different mindset.
These are educated and supposedly intelligent people. I can’t grasp why it took the episode in Nov 2017 to wake her up to the fact that universities are not advocating free speech. It seems obvious to me.

Good luck to her. We need more like her and Jordan Petersen.

  11. Frank

I’m not convinced there are Nazis in Australia.

I think there may be some vestiges of the skinheads getting about the place in Melbourne. The umbers would be pretty low probably. The best way to deal with them is to put a microphone in front of them and let them have at it, they tend not to be terribly impressive.

  12. Jonesy

    The optics on the news…
Anti-fascist fascists going on about perceived nazis and fascists.

  13. Deplorable

Yes there are no National socialists in Victoria just the usual garden variety of socialists and communists that wish our country harm. Antics is a terrorist socialist organisation.

  14. Mother Lode

    Fuck this moderation shit.

It has effectively ensured certain opinions regardless of content are lost to the natural flow of readership because paranoid retards who love to use keywords as flgs of illegal thought have gelatinous bowels.

    Hooray!

It’s only been quarter of a day.

Free speech will truly cut tyranny off at the knees toe jam.

  15. DaveR

Antifa is a terrorist Socialist organisation.

And so is Socialist Alternative, the organisers of “Campaign Against Racism and Fascism” with the “anti-racist” protests at St Kilda, against Lauren Southern and Nigel Farage in Australia.

CARF is committed to the militant revolutionary overthrow of capitalism, through, amongst other things, militant unionism

Yes, I agree. It’s a shame. Some of the most meaningful discussions here are inevitably going to include some of these key words.
A feature which pre-checks the post, would be a great addition. A potential business idea for an IT guru out there who can develop plugins?

A potential business idea for an IT guru out there who can develop plugins?

A preview button that renders crime-think underlined in squiggly flashing pink while mere spelling errors get red. It would probably offer too much of a leg up for the sinners though by giving them a way of finessing their evil posts. Then again, you could send the IP address directly to the Human Rights Commission if the bot finds anything actionable. Divest oneself as a blog owner of responsibility and make the fuckers in Canberra earn their money wading through GBs of spurious online vitriol.

  18. Mother Lode

    Hi Mater,

Can there be any doubt that this is not what the nannies and pearl-clutchers want?

I mean, since they can’t actually outlaw the speech outright the next best thing is having the people who appall them censoring themselves.

  19. Mater

Can there be any doubt that this is not what the nannies and pearl-clutchers want?

You’ll get no arguments from me, but you have to work with what you’ve got. You can often work around the constraints, and get a similar result….if only you knew what the constraints were. That is, I think, the true problem of today. No one actually knows the left and right of arc, and they are not likely to tell us as that in itself is the most effective censoring tool of all. We dare not say anything, lest we cross a line we are unaware of. How effective is that!
It would be nice to have clear guideline here.

Does any one have the video of Prof. Jake Lynch thrusting his phone into the face of an elderly lady and threatening legal action in the midst of shouting mega phone welding group of students storming a lecture. Prof Lynch I seem to recall rose up from amongst the audience to chive presumably his students along.
Presumably there was no action taken against Lynch by his University.

  21. None

Someone should have given her a hanky. That’s sniffing was very off-putting.

The first point – that free speech is generally believed to be an issue only for the nasties – is a very important one as too the fact that universities are a business. Sadly one needs to threaten the dollars before it gets any attention and of course if the dollars are only threatened by one political party or one group of students then of course that reinforces the first point in the minds of the censorious.
One Nation New South Wales actually has a human rights reform policy which seems to have Mark Latham’s finger prints all over it. It includes several aspects related to free speech. Every party should be challenged on their free speech and human rights platform.

  22. Alan

wal1957 reflects a very good point that has been made elsewhere:

“They don’t care. They really don’t. Think about how little you cared when someone else was previously being attacked by SJWs and how little you did to support them, let alone take action to stop the attack. That’s exactly how much your colleagues and acquaintances care about you being attacked, and exactly how much they are going to do to stop it.” — SJW’s Always Lie (2015)

To which I would add comments from Dr Theodore Dalrymple in 2005:

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

  23. None

Spot on Alan. If you are ever find yourself in the position of having to fight off the PC dragons you can count on the fact that absolutely no one, no one will support you. No one will care. At best, some of your allegedly sympathetic colleagues will just tell you ‘I told you so’ and ‘move on’ while they simultaneously stab you in the back with your assailants and shift to protect their own income, livelihood and name. There is no greater love, certainly not in academia.

  24. mem

The recording of the disciplinary hearing / inquisition was frightening. Ms Shepherd stood her ground with remarkable courage whilst a group of academic inquisitors tried its best to wear her down so that she might “confess” or lose her cool and explode. It revealed just how PC is used to control and intimidate. And how peer review is used to control the flow of ideas and what is studied or published. I kept thinking of the prosecution of Joan of Ark.

  25. Rob

I find it confusing that we are meant to abhor the neonazis who celebrate the murder of 6 million Jews in Europe in world war 2 and the media wants to treat the “anti-racists” as heroes, yet these “anti-racists” want Israel erased – which would mean the murder of 7 million Jews today.
