Some Pigs Are More Equal

The poster child of neo-Socialism, Bernie Sanders, has released his tax returns.  And guess what?  Bernie is a member of the 1%.  Talk about self loathing.

Apparently, Comrade Sanders and his Mrs earned over US$1 million in 2016 and 2017.  But how much extra voluntary tax did Sanders contribute?  That would be nil, nada, zip, nought.

Bernie said:

I consider paying more in taxes as my income rose to be both an obligation and an investment in our country. I will continue to fight to make our tax system more progressive so that our country has the resources to guarantee the American Dream to all people.

But he won’t pay more than his legal obligation.  All those loopholes his is taking advantage of to keep some of his earnings.  If only the ALP was writing the US tax codes to ensure fairness.

But that’s ok.  Sanders gave $36K to charting in 2017, the year he earned almost $1.2 million.  How generous.  Oddly he gave the money to charity and not the government.  And probably got a tax deduction for the donation.

At my previous firm I used to do the tax return of a Victorian State Labor MP. She claimed a tax deduction for everything. One day she rang me in a panic about Federal Labor’s proposed negative gearing changes and what affect it would have on her!

I also did the tax return for her elderly father. What was his job you may ask? An electorate officer for a Labor MP. I wonder how he got that job.

All of this evades the elephant in the political room that Sanders, while wrong, has a consistent political ideology, perfectly aligned with his altruism and more fundamental philosophical questions. Conservatives or whatever you call yourselves Spartacus, have no consistent views on anything. You offering an alternative to socialism that amounts to, well, just more socialism.
I mean family is a socialist unit, right? You gotta have some socialism, right Spartacus?
Also, capitalism is a cold dark place of atomised individuals, that no one would want to live in, right? Can’t have too much capitalism.
To be fair, your incoherent view of the fundamentals is pretty mainstream in conservative “ideology.”

You guys have no chance against Sanders.

I especially love what he said about being a millionaire:

Bernie Sanders Defends Being Millionaire: ‘I Didn’t Know It Was a Crime to Write a Good Book’

You could have a lot of fun with memes from this. “I Didn’t Know It Was a Crime to Run a Successful Company”. I Didn’t Know It Was a Crime to Write a Hot App”. “I Didn’t Know It Was a Crime to Mine Lots of Coal”!

Why didn’t he give it away at cost? He sounds amazingly like a self-made capitalist.

  6. It’s well known that the Democrats were, and still are, the party for slave owners. In today’s world, they simply do it differently and make it appear as if they care about blacks, especially thanks to the support of the MSM. But today they get also bonus slaves via the illegals.

The wealth and living standard of bob hawke.

The wealth and living standard of paul keating.

The wealth and living standard of the rudd family.

The wealth and living standard of gillard.

Compare these obvious outliers with the amount of payg tax they gave the tax office during their working lives.

    Comrades.
