Progress in Africa

A striking demonstration of progress in darkest Africa.

Hope this works for people who don’t do Twitter and Facebook, it came from a Twitter comment placed in a comment on a Facebook post.

It is a dramatic animation to show the shrinking bars representing infant mortality in each of the African states from 1950 to the present.

I don’t see this as a good thing.

Works for me and I am not registered in either of those infested swamps.

It was a great loss when Robert Wilson went off Twitter for a couple of years because his carbon counter Twitter feed was as good as they get

Unless they can be kept in their home countries we and all high welfare nations will be overwhelmed with diversity and people who have not the intelligence or western values to fit in or contribute to our economy. Since both the Libs and Labor think that home invasions, car jackings and just general violent crime is a small price to pay to have our own version of Americas problems.

Neither side will do anything to restrict migration till it’s too late.

    I agree.
They are breeding at an insane rate and can’t sustain themselves so we have to send more and more aid.

The infant mortality rate kept a soft lid on their population.

16,000 children die every day in Africa ,save the children by donating $10 a month for birth control .$10 buys a lot of birth control wholesale .
Revising the save the children ad on tv .

When the survival rate improves the birth rate will decline and when they get some economic progress there will be a demographic transition to a more stable population. Trump is leaning on the lending agencies to allow funding for coal and gas projects that will make a difference.

It has been mostly bad news all along. South Africa had a brief spell of hope but then started to revert to type. Not at all sure that Cyril can turn it around again.

The tyrants, murderers and kleptocrats have been the rule, not the exception.

I would love to see African economic growth, it may be possible in some places but overall it doesn’t look good, tribalism, low IQ, almost no rule of law or property rights and endemic violence will almost certainly overwhelm any place that does start to grow and improve. I just can’t see any significant improvement in the next few centuries.

LOL Money will all go to Switzerland. Africa always wins.

Rafe, “Trump is leaning on the lending agencies to allow funding for coal and gas projects that will make a difference.”
Why would you think that more loans or grants will improve anything there? How many billions have been thrown at Africa since the 50’s? What do they have to show for it? A few dams that don’t do much , armies and corrupt politicians, why would it be different this time? I doubt that any outside agency could do anything that would produce permanent improvement. Best to leave them there to sort it out themselves. In the meantime just allow free trade with them and stop appropriating the few really clever people they have.

I find it amazing that people will condemn colonialism because it took the wealth from the colonised and yet think it’s fine to take the intelligent hard workers to live and work in our countries and leave the hopeless behind. If Africa has a chance it needs all the intelligent hard working people it can get. In a way much of the skilled migration from Africa is just a sly form of colonisation when you think about it.

Skilled migration from any third world country is devastating to the original country. They train them with scarce resources, we benefit with uber drivers and hospital cleaners. Not a good thing all around.

    Are you sure?
How about a look at birth rates over the same period?

And I think aid is killing off any prospect of them helping themselves.
