    less reason for SBS

    Migrants don’t watch SBS.

SBS’s raison d’être for about the last two decades has been to push English language collectivist propaganda.

It ceased being relevant to our beloved immigrants once Fat Al Bore invented the interwebs.

  2. one old bruce

Someone remind us how Murdoch’s support for Gough worked in the 70s when it mattered. – First Murdoch supported Gough, then switched next election? I remember it was supposed to be a big deal, but the fact Gough still won was ignored. I’ve heard this Murdoch conspiracy sing song for 45 years and tired of it back then. Rudd of course is stuck in a timewarp or hopes others are.

  3. Ƶĩppʯ (ȊꞪꞨV)

SBS News just had a guy on saying if ScoMo reduces the immigration intake to 165,000 per annum as announced then “he will be turning off the tap of multiculturalism”.

And the down side of that is?

    less uber drivers

reduces the immigration intake to 165,000 per annum

This is why the gliberals are very soon going to be personally (and fabulously) experiencing “HoP Time”.

Murdoch gave us the singer Kamahl, took this poor Malaysian kid on a student visa into his home and made him a star. Beautiful voice.

    poor Malaysian kid

    Who was an Inujn.

“Why are the peoples so unkind, I asks ya?!”

Our One Nation truck in Tasmania was parked outside a shop while our candidate was buying groceries. Someone was seen torching it before fleeing.

Yep. Just as I thought. An Injun.

    Magnificent voice, nonetheless.

  19. one old bruce

“Is that true that Murdoch took him in?”

Kamahl used to have pics on his website of his time in Murdoch’s own home, how graeteful he was and how generous they were. But then the UK scandals started and I think it was better for Kamahl to keep mum about it.

BREAKING: Tony Abbott has lost his seat. 25 years of wrecking, undermining and blocking action on the issues we care about – over. #AusVotes2019

  21. memoryvault

SBS News just had a guy on saying if ScoMo reduces the immigration intake to 165,000 per annum as announced . . .

And six years ago when Abbott won the election immigration intake was 160,000.

  22. Percy Popinjay

Last heard of, bemoaning the dismissal of the Whitlam Government

From his modest estate in the Hunter Valley.

Oh wait, possibly from his multi million dollar equally modest terrace in Darling it hurts.

  23. Twostix

I’m satisfied that everyone is getting to see the malevolent maniacal hearts of the dregs of the professional middle class in all its glory.

They’ve gone mad, really gone off the deep end since Trump was elected.

  24. Confused Old Misfit

Kamahl was born in Kuala Lumpur to Tamil Hindu parents…
    …Magnificent voice, nonetheless.

And a real gentleman to work with.

  25. one old bruce

Would you call the Sri Lankan Tamils ‘Indians’?

Tamils been spread round SE Asia god knows how long, back to Angkor Wat? (What?)

  26. Percy Popinjay

since we already have a government funded behemoth that does that

Rog, why settle for one when you (we) can have two? 🙂

  27. Oh come on

It is essential that the losing side accurately diagnoses what went wrong with their campaign so they can rebuild and reposition themselves going forward. A bit of wallowing in self-pity – I don’t think anyone would begrudge them that. But to burst out the gate essentially saying the *electorate* got it wrong and they were right all along; that is a very bad sign for their future electability.

  28. Roger

Would you call the Sri Lankan Tamils ‘Indians’?

    Indians wouldn’t.

  29. duncanm

    Kamahl and Rupert

KAMAHL: Without asking me, he organised for a six-week season at the Hotel Australia that used to be in Castlereagh Street. I did the six weeks. When it was finished I went to Rupert and Pat and said, “Thank you for your hospitality and will see you again.” They said, “Where are you going?” I said, “I’m going back to Adelaide.” They said, “No, you’re not. You’ll stay with us.” So, from then on, for nearly two years, I was a boarder and a guest of Rupert and Pat Murdoch.

PETER THOMPSON: And you were more than a guest really, because Rupert was very important in sponsoring your immigration, wasn’t he?

KAMAHL: It was Rupert who used to write this letter annually to the Immigration Department saying that I was under his care, that he would make a promise, within the next 12 months, Kamahl will be going overseas to further his studies. And on the following year it would be the same letter with the date changed.

PETER THOMPSON: So, he’s more than a media magnate, he’s also sponsor of Kamahl’s Australian citizenship ultimately.

KAMAHL: Yeah, he was a wonderful friend.

  30. feelthebern

Chris Kenny is running a shocking show tonight.

They were planning to heavy every business they had time to.
Now, they’ll have to have an RDO instead.

  33. Oh come on

Note to ALP strategists and ABC talking heads – it’s not a scare campaign if it’s true. It was absolutely true to say that Labor’s climate policy would have been an epic job killer and raised energy prices to stratospheric levels.

During the campaign they lie, cheat, abuse, belittle, throw eggs, threaten, sneer etc etc etc.
If they win they dance on their enemies graves.
If they lose they plead for “a kinder, gentler politics” and to “heal the division”.

Pocahontas calls herself an Indian. White Australians call themselves Aboriginals.

I want the ATO to make sure they spend none of this taxpayers’ money on the Falou matter. Or forfeit funding, or pay tax on it.

  45. Knuckle Dragger

    LL,

Yup. If their glory boys and girls and others don’t win, let alone get an almighty pasting or lose the unloseable, suddenly it’s ‘a country divided’.

On the occasions when they run the show, it’s a ‘mandate’.

Wilkinson is a TV presenter, not an analyst. She makes an enormous living bitching about non-existent gender pay gaps and fashion fauxs pas and Prince Harry’s kid’s name to equally vacuous sheilas in dressing gowns, about to put on their active wear before they go shopping.

Her semi-literate husband’s sole claim to fame is being used as a punching bag by the entire French forward pack, while his teammates stood by and applauded.

Put together, they could adequately be described as 20kg of putrefying goat vomit in a 5kg bag.

Stick it right up your rapidly expanding, Gillard-esque arse, Lisa.

  66. Leigh Lowe

    Serious question.
Just looking at the ALP campaign (and I didn’t follow it closely) it seemed to me that they were very clear on what they were going to tax but not what they were going to spend it all on.
Da climate and renewables? Wouldn’t commit to a cost (uh-oh) and couldn’t really articulate why we should do it (apart from “Paris” and “the right fing to do”).
Education and ‘elf. Well they say that every time. I had a coffee with a Rustadon today and even he said “it won’t make medical treatment or learning in schools any better. It will just get pissed away on wage increases.”
The point is, they just didn’t sell why we should give them a shitload of cash to spend on … not sure what actually.

  67. Knuckle Dragger

The planet is, in fact, dying.

Several billion years from now the Sun will expand due to changing gas reactions, swallowing Venus, Mercury, our rock and Mars with it before it collapses in on itself, becoming a supernova and hopefully a black hole.

In geological terms, we should be in palliative care.

Several billion years from now, I will listen to Bob Brown, the Hag, Mr Wong and Bowen and Shorten.

Until then, they can go fuck themselves.

  68. feelthebern

Lol, add that David Busby from Tasmania to that list of pussy’s who didn’t have the guts to run at the election.
He was a useless turd too.

To get an idea of the irrational fear that climate change produces, have a read of this from 2007:

Frustrated with the lack of political leadership on the state of the environment, a small but rapidly growing group of people is taking matters into their own hands.

“I’ve got a 10-year-old and a four-year-old,” says Sabina Carney, of Rozelle, a founding member of independent local action group Climate Change Balmain Rozelle. “What kind of mess are we going to leave the planet in for our kids? If we don’t do anything now, I’d hate for my daughters to turn around and say, ‘Well you knew what was going on, why didn’t you do anything?'”

    The world didn’t end.

Sarah Hanson-Young says she is in “despair” over an election result that will see Scott Morrison and his Coalition government maintain power.

The Greens senator, who won another six-year term in the Senate, said she would be focused on “holding the bastards to account” in the new parliament.

“Thanks to you, we made it,” she tweeted this afternoon.

“SA voted for climate action, stopping drilling in the (Great Australian) Bight and saving the (River) Murray. It was a vote for our children’s future.

I didn’t think their arguments against ALPs plans were very effective – like they were trying to leave themselves wiggle room if they wanted to introduce it themselves.

Such harmony is in immortal souls,
But whilst this muddy vesture of decay
Doth grossly close it in, we cannot hear it.
How beautiful the moonlight’s shining on this bank! Let’s sit here and let the music fill our ears. Stillness and nighttime are perfect for beautiful music. Sit down, Jessica. Look at the stars, see how the floor of heaven is inlaid with small disks of bright gold. Stars and planets move in such perfect harmony that some believe you can hear music in their movement. Conservatives, libertariana, in fact any low tax low spend more freedom proponents should take no comfort. Morrison just proved Textor’s analysis that the xonservative vote is irrelevant. A delusion of grandeur is a false belief in one’s importance or greatness.
People experiencing delusions of grandeur see themselves as great, highly accomplished, more important than others, or even magical. The delusion may be persistent, or it may appear only periodically.
Some people with delusions of grandeur also experience other delusions, such as a fear of persecution or unusual religious beliefs.
However, a delusion of grandeur is more than just very high self-esteem or an inflated sense of self-importance. It marks a significant disconnection from the real world. A person with delusions of grandeur may continue to believe in the delusion in spite of contradictory evidence.

He got absolutely no support from the party and even had Jim Molan who owes him his political career pinching his volunteers – and I hope Jim Molan doesn’t get in because I certainly didn’t like his fascist tendencies in some of his last interviews – and yet it took hundreds of thousands of dollars and rent a crowd and bullying and intimidation and wall-to-wall negative media coverage for years to ditch him from his seat. You might have hated his direct action which he announced in 2009. I watched as he used that to Hammer people for the next 6 years. They have to be able to counter the hysteria and fake memes put out by the left catastrophists.
Does not augur well if reassurances about ‘belief’ in CC have already been given to the ABC.
ScoMo your hide is riding on this; start to reduce the hysteria and ACT NOW or fail like Tony did.

  195. feelthebern

Well done for Dee turning up to face the music.

  196. mh

    Newspoll?

Labor are ahead 53/47. Bad start for ScoMo.

  197. feelthebern

So Adam Giles moved from NT to Vic?
    Why?
WA, QLD & NSW far better options.

  198. John64

    Madigan borderline unhinged tonight.

No, if they were well educated, as opposed to merely obtaining degrees, they’d have been taught how to think.

You need to be more specific a lot of people with heads stuffed with knowledge turn out crazy nutters that need sedating.

  202. feelthebern

    $60mill Clive.
Lucky for ScoMo the fat man didn’t go to Vegas instead.

  203. EvilElvis

Will we get to see Plibbers jogging? I’m curious is all…..

Thanks, Atoms. Hot tubbing with Annabel and LaTingle didn’t quite get it done, chuck a jogging plib into the mix with that bung eye and I should get over the edge…

  204. None

Won’t happen Lizzie. Something I noticed when Morrison was opposition immigration spokesperson and which I pointed out here a. Morrison is happy that he pulled a win. He’s only happy about playing the politics… he is a policy nonentity. I noticed that when there was that drama about the burial of dead refugees and he was almost smirking at byyuch slapping the media instead of recognising that they were still discussing a serious issue which very much goes to our core values namely the care of the dead.

  205. feelthebern

Campbell Newman blew it after one term.
    Why is he wheeled out?

  206. Zulu Kilo Two Alpha

Yeah. The electorate has totally changed since last night.

Six seats still in doubt, Scott Morrison needs two to govern, and he’s ahead in four of them.

  207. Stimpson J. Cat

You need to be more specific a lot of people with heads stuffed with knowledge turn out crazy nutters that need sedating.

Can confirm, even for people without heads stuffed full of knowledge.

  208. feelthebern

All candidates should submit themselves for medicals.
    And mandatory DNA testing.

  209. Fleeced

Even if Clive had won… $60 mill? What was he getting for that? Did he really spend that, or was it through his own companies somehow? Money going in circles and whatnot?

Just doesn’t add up to me, even if he won.

  210. feelthebern

Clive thought he’d get a Senator or two.
    He bet.
    He lost.
He needs political clout to keep the Chinese at bay.
The Chinese will now accelerate their appeals against Clive getting the royalties instead of them going to a escrow account until the main case is finalised….in about 10 years time.

  211. feelthebern

This was all in for Clive.

  212. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Beare

The majority of climate scientists . . . The vast majority of all the other scientists

No. Don’t give the fraud scientists validity in this way. Many of the ‘climate’ scientists are not scientists in atmospheric or planetary physics or earth sciences such as oceanography. volcanology or other useful sciences. Some of them have no adequate training in input/output computer modelling let alone the complicated statistics needed to analyse the data that models (often inadequate ones) generate. ‘Climate’ scientists making a noise about anthropogenic CO2 often turn out to be half-baked ecologists or tree-frog specialists or even worse, journalists who like to ‘report’ on the activities of climate pressure groups.

There is theoretical science and evidence-based science. Somewhere the two should meet. That is all.

  213. feelthebern

Mark Latham gave the best election summary so far.

  214. Fleeced

Clive thought he’d get a Senator or two.

I get that, but… how much is a senate seat worth?

I guess there’s the whole Chinese angle, but… I dunno.

  215. Crossie

I am not surprised at Julie Bishop “officiating” at the Tony Abbott ouster last night by launching her stiletto but I am shocked at Channel 9. Have they got so many viewers that they can offend so many Liberal and/or conservative voters?

  216. Can we have a go at guessing how long it will be before ScoMo announces his first lefty appeasement policy / makes his first appointment of a leftard?

    I give it 9 days.

“Climate science” has destroyed science as a profession. There’s not much work you can do as a scientist – but there’s lots of work in “climate science”. You gotta toe the line though.

Earlier on Paul Murray’s show Dee Madigan was almost hysterical. The strain is taking its toll.

Agreed – and he nailed the modern malaise of the Labor Party.

  221. feelthebern

relax he’s got 3940 of them left

  223. Ironing Mike

The landline vs mobile theory only goes part of the way to explaining the poll discrepancies. Nor does it explain the exit polling mismatch. A more probable explanation is that self-respecting conservative voters (who tend to understandably guarded re their voting intentions) are highly unlikely to disclose political preferences to a random work-experience SJW doing a cold-calling shift for a polling business. So, of course the figures will be skewed. A bit like the Q&A audience figures.

  224. John64

Good on Dee for showing up. Most would have squibbed it.

She’s very well paid not to squib it.

  225. Knuckle Dragger

    Watching Archer.

He just got waterboarded by the CIA. Christian Slater, to be precise.

Gold, to finish off the weekend. Great times had by all.

I didn’t watch J-Bish’s stunt on the night – I had Nine, and sa w the beginning and was sickened. I went to the computer to get a better look at results, and then things looked more positive.

I watched it now, and it still sickens me. And honestly, I would be sickened if a ALP personality was invited to do this to one of their own as well. Appalling behaviour by Nine and Bishop, and thank the lord we’re rid of her.

And the Bish Boot? What’s this obsession with her damn shoes? This is a narrative they’ve created – no regular voter gives a shit about her damn shoes.

  231. feelthebern

Latham spoke a pretty libertarian line.
Working Australians aren’t racist or homophobic or anything.
They just want to work & invest for a better life without Wong, Plibbers etc telling them that they’re wrong.

  232. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Beare

Abbott even gifted him a line of attack on climate change in his concession speech when he talked about the economic versus moral argument

I was a bit concerned when Abbott said this, because it is not a distinction that I would make at all.

To me, the moral argument is to look at the validity of the models we have been asked to find acceptable as an explanation for something that so far no evidence has emerged to support. It is NOT moral to support claims that no evidence supports when the opportunity cost of doing so is the health and welfare of the nation. The moral and the economic arguments are not separate, they ALIGN perfectly. VIZ: Don’t act to destroy what we have until we are sure that there is a good reason to do so, and that we have an adequate alternative should one prove necessary (which on current indications, most likely it will not).

There is nothing ‘runaway’ or ’emergency’ about the world’s climate at present and the earth has always had periods of climatic change attributable to non-human factors. If anything, there may be some cooling to worry about more than warming. In terms of ‘the weather’, nothing has changed that cannot be explained as normal variation, especially when measurement ‘smoothing’ is taken out of the equation; the economic impact of weather events may indeed be greater, but this is simply due to an extension of population requiring new human choices regarding dwelling places, land use and agriculture, water containment etc.

  233. feelthebern

Emily Ratjikowski is till smoking hot.

    Genetically blessed to look at.
Emily Blunt ranks higher on my list.
    So does Kate Hudson.

Em Rat looks like she needs to live on the monty diet for a month.

If it is true, it should be self-evident.

They know it isn’t true. But they feel compelled to lie. They disgust me.

As Notafan says, it’s their religion, or a part of it. They are reciting their version of a catechism. Truth doesn’t come into it, they are proving that they are of the faith.

It’s a thoroughly disgusting religion, too. It makes me hope for a Christian revival.

  235. feelthebern

I’m not writing Tony off until every single pre-poll is counted.
Especially the pre-polls that the AEC lost off the back of the ute.

Albo can get stuffed’: Why Bill Shorten is backing Tanya Plibersek to replace him as leader over Anthony Albanese – amid fears she could become the ‘next Julie Bishop’ and be overlooked for a man

Defeated Labor leader Bill Shorten is backing his loyal deputy Tanya Plibersek
It comes as his former leadership rival Anthony Albanese declares candidacy
Ms Plibersek could face same fate as former Liberal deputy leader Julie Bishop
Ms Bishop was defeated in August 2018 ballot despite being deputy for 11 years

One should recognize too how much ‘climate emergency’ is related to concerns people have about population increases and what they see as resource ‘shortages’. The truth is that few resources are short at any projected level of human population that we have at present. The earth can readily sustain a higher level of industrial activity that will sustain increased populations, and there will still be land left over; plenty of it.

Matt Ridley is very good on the Malthusian tendency in human thought, and the terrible outcomes that misapplication of this idea has had in human life: the Nazi holocaust being the worst example of this sort of ‘leibensraum’ thinking. ‘Sustainability’ is a shortage concept that has little application to daily life.

All those voters at the election wittering on about the dreadful waste of paper. Just grow some more pine plantations and make some more of it. Recycle some if you must, but most can be disposed of quite well to linger in landfill. Managed landfill is a good idea; again, there is plenty of land if one looks at human to land ratios in the world. 🙂
