Goldman Sachs director praises firm during transition to be a woman (13 Jun)

FOX Business Network has learned that a managing director in the public affairs department is in the process of transitioning to be a woman with the full support of the firm. The spokesperson, previously known as Michael DuVally, now identifies himself as Maeve in conversations with colleagues and now with reporters.

Wasn’t Malcolm a partner? Maybe he should stand in solidarity with this gender-fluid cephalopod. He could call himself Loretta.

As others have suggested the issue about Setka should be the DV charges not some obscure reference to Batty. However the context in which he mentioned Batty is relevant.

He was apparently briefing the meeting about his legal woes. He had probably indicated going to plead to some offence of abusive texting which now appears to involve somebody not his wife. Mention has also been made of an AVO taken out against him. He had been on 6 months paid leave. He and his wife have both mentioned the strain of the previous year (ie. arrest for Boral).

However his point appears to be that the law has swung in favour of the female over the male. Batty apparently was mentioned. However what Setka has failed to remember is his record of abuse towards many people over many years (one of the police officers he was convicted of assaulting was a woman) plus the recent 30 charges which were spread out over a period of months. Just the text revealed messages show how much of a thug he is. His scenario is all self inflicted and nothing to do with any situation that favours women due to campaigning by Batty.

(Whistleblower David) McBride was arrested by federal police at Sydney airport in September 2018, having returned to Australia from Spain to attend a father-daughter school dance.

The leaks formed the basis of the 2017 investigative report, The Afghan Files, which exposed clandestine operations by the SAS, including incidents of troops killing children and unarmed men.

Serial attention seeker Nelly Yoa’s court entourage

Nelly Yoa arrives at the Melbourne Magistrates Court in Melbourne. Picture: AAP

    By CHRISTINE MCGINN

A serial attention seeker facing perjury charges has rolled up to a Melbourne court in a white Rolls Royce with a presidential-style security detail running beside the vehicle.

Nelly Yoa, 30, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court today, charged with five offences, including perjury and making false reports to police. Clad in a pink blazer and white pants, he arrived at court with two luxury cars and team supporters running alongside his chauffeured vehicle wearing black suits and sunglasses.

Charge sheets allege Yoa lied to police that a woman threatened him with a knife in his Dandenong home in June 2016.

Yoa again allegedly lied to them again in May 25, 2018, when he reported a woman threatened him with a handgun.

His solicitor, Chris McLennan, told the court Yoa “does seem to have delusions of grandeur … this sort of narcissism”.

“Everything he has brought before the court is there as his own stupidity,” he said, but added his client would find it difficult to be imprisoned.

Deputy chief magistrate Felicity Broughton ordered Yoa be assessed for a community corrections order and adjourned his matter to June 20.

A friend of Yoa, who joined him in court, gave reporters a one-page statement from Yoa saying his “spectacular arrival” was “not attention seeking”.

In the statement, Yoa, who previously claimed to have played professional soccer overseas, blamed the charges on a police and state government vendetta against him.

“I won’t be silent. I answer to no one,” he said.

Mr McLennan said Yoa worked at the justice department from April to May, but lost his job after media reporting of his court matters.

“I am struggling to understand how this is possible,” Ms Broughton said. The father-of-three now works in a storeroom in Ballarat.

Mr McLennan said his client had “attracted media attention and he will have to suffer that for his whole life”.

When Yoa was asked outside court why he had the flashy car, he said “I’m not sure” and said those running alongside it were just “general public”.

This also might be part of the reason for the sudden censorship of anything right of mao/numberwang.

Google and Co are run by shitweasels.

YouTube announced a mass ban on all content promoting one group as superior to another “in order to justify discrimination, segregation or exclusion based on qualities like age, gender, race, caste, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status.”

The last one is peculiar, I can see it being used to shut down peoples lived experiences…

“Look, we aren’t quite where we want to be,” Pichai told “Axios on HBO.” While YouTube is improving on eliminating content it deems problematic, he suggested, they are still working toward even more extensive content-controlling measures.

Google, said Pichai, “rank[s] content based on quality.” They plan to apply that same approach to YouTube. “And so we are bringing that same notion and approach to YouTube so that we can rank higher quality stuff better and really prevent borderline content,” he said.

Pichai then offered a definition of what he means by “borderline content.” “Content which doesn’t exactly violate policies, which need to be removed, but which can still cause harm,” he said, in language echoing YouTube’s statement to Crowder days later.

The issue is “a hard computer science problem,” said Pichai, but an even harder “societal problem because we need better frameworks around what is hate speech, what’s not, and how do we as a company make those decisions at scale, and get it right without making mistakes.”

Humpty dumpty words then, subject to change anytime.

“repeatedly brush up against our hate speech policies” = Anyone singled out for odium by our enraged twitter mobs.

“Even if a creator’s content doesn’t violate our community guidelines, we will take a look at the broader context and impact, and if their behavior is egregious and harms the broader community, we may take action,”

2 oil tankers damaged in suspected attack in the Gulf of Oman, crew evacuated

Two oil tankers were damaged in a suspected attack off the Gulf of Oman early Thursday, according to multiple reports.

The U.S. Navy’s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet told Reuters it was assisting two tankers in the Gulf of Oman after receiving two distress calls.

“We are aware of the reported attack on tankers in the Gulf of Oman. U.S. Naval Forces in the region received two separate distress calls at 6:12 a.m. local time and a second one at 7:00 a.m.,” Joshua Frey of the Fifth Fleet said. The Fleet did not blame anyone for the attack.

The area is near the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route through which 20 percent of global oil consumption passes from Middle East producers. Benchmark Brent crude, in apparent reaction to the incident, rose its prices by 3.4% on Thursday.

Dryad Global, a maritime intelligence firm, identified one of the vessels involved as the MT Front Altair a Marshall Islands-flagged crude oil tanker. The vessel was “on fire and adrift,” Dryad added. … The other vessel, the Panama-flagged Kokuka Courageous, sustained damage on its hull starboard side, said BSM Ship Management. 21 sailors were evacuated, and one was slightly injured, four shipping and trade sources said.

The Middle East seems to suffer from RDS from time to time. Maybe this is one of those times?

Venezuela: hyperinflation leads to new banknotes for second time in a year (Grauniad)

Venezuela is releasing new banknotes for the second time in less than a year, the central bank said on Wednesday, after hyperinflation eroded the effects of an August 2018 monetary overhaul meant to improve availability of cash.

Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, last year cut five zeroes off the currency and prices.

Banknotes of 10,000, 20,000 and 50,000 bolívar denominations will begin circulating on Thursday to “make the payment system more efficient and facilitate commercial transactions”, the central bank said in statement.

The largest of those bank notes, equivalent to about US$8, is more than the minimum wage of 40,000 bolívars a month.

Following the 2018 overhaul, the highest denomination notes were 500 bolívars, which now would not be enough to buy a piece of candy.

Inflation in May reached 815,000% after peaking earlier this year above 1.7m%, according to the opposition-run congress.

Zeroes seem to be the only thing Venezuela is producing in abundance right now.

I thought I was doing well to replace my 297,000-km 1999 Magna with an immaculate 148,000-km 2004 Magna, also with roadworthy and service history for $3500. So far, so good. The only thing my mechanic found for its service was a little oil in one of the spark plug wells (slight leak of the O-ring for the hole in the cam cover). I’m expecting it to also approach 300 Mm, and I know what to expect based on the earlier one.

Another example of the insanity of the left. Part of the garbage the demorats have been dishing up in the house recently concerns a GOP proposal to introduce a citizenship question in the census. The writer of this bullshit article asserts this is a sleeping giant of an issue because it will allow the GOP to redraw electoral maps in its favour.

As you’d expect the logic is non-existent and speculation rife; for instance:

But, the inclusion of a citizenship question is the kind of thing that could be used to cement the GOP’s already very strong advantage when it comes to the composition of the districts we use to elect our representatives. And that’s a system the GOP has already gamed to great effect. Given the GOP’s existing advantages, some have wagered that the Democrats would never be able to win back the House until they can win power in key states and redraw some of the maps. Those suggestions proved wrong in 2018

So, one of the nefarious advantages to the GOP of a citizenship question was disproved in the most recent election. And then this:

What adding a citizenship question would potentially do for Republicans is twofold: 1) It could dissuade undocumented immigrants from responding (for fear of disclosing their status to the government), which would dilute their representation and transfer it to areas that are more likely to be Republican-leaning

Undocumented immigrants aka illegals have no representation because they’re illegals ffs. The so called popular vote in favour of the old bag shrillary is obviously a product of illegal voting which the demorats regard as legitimate.

The whole article is here from the stinking wapo.

As the company had just finished a gold pour and would have had about $2 million worth of gold bars ready for shipment to Perth, a strange van raised all sorts of suspicions, especially as all approved onsite light vehicles have to be painted white, have yellow reflective tape and overhead hazard lights etc. or they are not allowed into the operational areas.

This van was dark blue, half a dozen roof mounted antennae, and nobody in the drivers seat.

Called the police with suspicious vehicle report, gold room locked down, bullion returned to the strongroom, mild panic in case armed robbers or guns were involved.

Police in Perth rang back about twenty minutes later; “Don’t worry, that van belongs to the Gold Squad (WA Police) they are undercover keeping an eye on your shipment”.

    ‘Albo is wrong on Setka’

A senior construction union official has demanded Anthony Albanese withdraw his bid to expel Mr Setka from the ALP, denying the Victorian union leader made disparaging comments about Rosie Batty.

Rita Mallia, the NSW president of the CFMEU, said she was at the recent meeting of the union’s national executive addressed by Mr Setka and he did not seek to “cast blame’’ on the anti-domestic violence campaigner.

Mr Albanese has moved to have Mr Setka expelled from the ALP based on reports that Mr Setka said the activism of Ms Batty had led to men having fewer rights. Mr Setka has denied denigrating Ms Batty.

“It was just going into what lawyers had told me in regards to some of the laws and had nothing to do with Rosie Batty changing the laws or anything, there was nothing denigrating and nothing terrible said about Rosie Batty at all,” Mr Setka said yesterday.

Ms Mallia is the second union official in attendance at the meeting to back Mr Setka’s position. No CFMEU official at the meeting has yet to come out publicly and back the claim Mr Setka said Ms Batty’s work led to men having fewer rights.

Maritime Union of Australia official Chris Cain, who attended the executive meeting, said yesterday he was “sitting five feet away” from Mr Setka and he did not make comments critical of Ms Batty.

“I was in the room,’’ Mr Cain said. “It’s just a beat-up. It’s a big stitch-up, a total miscarriage of justice and Albanese should be ashamed of himself. Maybe he should resign.

Like nothing we have experienced’: Panhandle kids on verge of mental health crisis

For some children, all it took was the rain.

When thunderstorms passed through the Panhandle this winter, the sound was enough to distress some students just returning to school, reminding them of Hurricane Michael’s raging path last October that left much of the state’s northwest in ruin.

They would run to their teachers in tears, fearing the storm might return, recalled Sharon Michalik, the communications director for the school district in Bay County.

“They were asking if the water will still work, will their parents be able to pick them up and where will they be able to go when their home blows away,” she said. “The weather toll itself was creating and bringing back the trauma.”

Back when the aforementioned matter became public – in 2004 – Tory leader Michael Howard went out of his way to insist he’d sacked Johnson not because he’d killed his child while cheating on his wife (oh no – that would be judgmental or something) but only because he’d lied to him about it. Because Johnson was then considered by the left-wing media to be a gloriously perverse libertine, he was cast as the beloved victim at the time.

The Guardian, for example: Boris Johnson sacked by Tories over private life.

Tory MP Boris Johnson was sacked from his party’s front bench last night over lurid claims about his love life.

His fate was sealed by the mother of his alleged mistress, Petronella Wyatt, who said her daughter had become pregnant by him and had an abortion last month…

Last night Howard said his colourful arts spokesman and party vice-chairman had been ‘relieved of his responsibilities’. He is said to have been unable to forgive Johnson for having apparently misled both newspapers to whom he had earlier denied the allegations and Howard, who publicly backed him.

‘This is nothing to do with personal morality. Last weekend when all this came up Michael stood by him and said shadow ministers can live their lives as they want, it was not a matter for him,’ said one. But ‘it is a matter for him when shadow ministers don’t tell the truth’…

The episode brings an end to an unlikely but uniquely engaging political career. Johnson, 40, who is also editor of the Spectator magazine, became one of the few modern Tories able to capture the public imagination, even provoking speculation he could be a future leader.

We used to live across the road from a Police Station. One day, my dear old Mum was in our backyard burning off leaves, hose in hand in case things got dicey. Next thing, cop pops his head over the back fence and says” Excuse me, Missus but you are breaking the law by burni-“. He didn’t get the finish the sentence before Mum turned the hose on him. Never saw him again. Funniest thing ever. Mum had escaped the Russians when they invaded Hungary, this poor copper never stood a chance.

Leftist reporters always lionise and love the Tory/Republican/LNP leader who – gosh darnit! – just won’t make it to the top, after all, alas. The Tory/Republican/LNP leader who stays in the thick of things and looks likely to win, of course, is always literally Hitler.

Regarding Setka and what he said about Batty it seems whoever leaked the story is not going to admit it was them. So far two (Malia and Cain ) are backing up Setka that what he said has been taken out of context.

However in the overall scheme of his long list of transgressions the Batty comments are insignificant and Labor and Unions are not focusing on the actual offences he has said he is going to plead guilty to later this month.

So the question is once he has pled guilty to those charges will Albo and Sally maintain the pressure for him to step down ? Even if they do as Setka says it is the CFMMEU members who employ him.

Has been good to see the angst caused over him. Better late than never.

I agree. That was a horribly sick and deplorable action. And in any other time I would abhor him.

    True.
Tonight he gave a definitive “crash or crash through” statement.
    Come October 31, we’re out.
I reckon Trump has given him a wink and a nod that there might be a tasty trans-Atlantic trade deal if he tells Brussels to stick it up their Junker.
If he gets up, there will be some puckering arseholes in the Belgian capital.

  187. BrettW

Below from Daily Mail. Seems a bit worse than mentioning Batty and should be the real issue being discussed. Any CFMMEU member who supports this grub is condoning DV. Any time CFMMEU organiser talks about site safety somebody should ask what their views are on people who push women down stairs. Perhaps Malia and Cain should be asked for comment on that rather than Batty.

“One expletive-laden text read: ‘After what I did for you today you treat me like some … moron you sneaky c***, that’s why all of your memories are going to the tip tomorrow morning, you just triggered a hatred in my heart I didn’t think existed f***en dog.’

Another said: ‘Your dad would be so proud of you, you turned into a drunken moron … you weak f***en piece of s**t’ and ‘You’re a c**t just like the rest of your family’.

The alleged victim said she was so terrified of Mr Setka that she wedged her door shut to stop him from coming in.

Mr Setka allegedly broke the door down, threw the woman’s iPad and pushed her down the stairs, police were told”.

  188. Dr Faustus

However in the overall scheme of his long list of transgressions the Batty comments are insignificant and Labor and Unions are not focusing on the actual offences he has said he is going to plead guilty to later this month.

Unlike Albo and every other talking head, it now appears McManus checked around the traps and found that Setka actually hadn’t bagged out on Batty:

ACTU leader McManus admits Setka didn’t bag Batty

She’s changed tack and is now trying to get him to go on the grounds of the upcoming court case and his long record of shit behaviour. So, with #idissbatty out of the equation, too little too late – should have been onto all this (literally) years ago if it was such a problem for the union movement.

Albo, on the other hand pulled the trigger on Batty alone – and now stands with his pants around his ankles, holding his plonker.

Boris is big on charm and very lacking in principles. He is a walking illustration of the old Marx Brothers joke. If you don’t like his principles, he has others.

    Leigh,
It was only when Hadley commented on it on Tuesday that I realised there was another woman. It has been confusing. There has been mention of a female from Fair Work Commission who is a witness. If another woman is the subject of the remaining charges then what about the incident with his wife on Boxing Day. Doesn’t that then mean he has abused two women ? For the incident on Boxing Day and any other involving his wife I can understand her not wanting to give evidence. However shouldn’t the police have direct evidence themselves, possibly on body cameras. VICPOL should be put under pressure to explain why dropped 30 charges.

The UK has had a gutful of alleged “principled politicians”.
That is, MPs whose principles ride rough-shod over the explicit wishes of voters.

Looks like some union leaders are easier to shift than others.

Trade Unionist ‘kicked off National Executive for speaking at pro-Brexit rally’

In a statement today, Embery has said: “I am disappointed to report that I have been kicked off the National Executive of the Fire Brigade Union (FBU) and banned from office for two years as a consequence of my speech at the cross-party ‘Leave Means Leave’ rally outside Parliament in March.

“I spoke in my own time (on a Friday evening) and not on behalf of the FBU. Despite this, it was decided that I had acted in a way prejudicial to the interests of the union.

“I believe the decision to be an obvious political one. The case against me was easily shredded at my internal hearing.

Rita Mallia? Now, there’s a name I remember from the Royal Commission into trade unions. If I recall correctly, she was in chicanery up to her neck. Something to do with super funds.

Well, well, here she is again, in a well paid job defending Setka.

One of the things I really hate about Turdbull is that he never followed up on the findings of that RC. If it wasn’t for a few determined State prosecutors, nothing would have happened at all.

There was a wealth of information about these sleazeballs and crooks, but Malcolm apparently thought it was yucky, or something. Or perhaps not important in his universe of ME.

BTW, Saint Sarah, who nailed so many of the crooks, is now the Commonwealth Solicitor General. That is a good thing. I fear for the nads of any Attorney General who tries to pressure her.
