  3. PayID emerged from the resulting negotiations between the RBA and the banks.

Who remembers when ATM’s were first introduced, and using your own bank’s ATM’s was “free” and their ATM’s were everywhere?

Then the banks were “forced” (haha hehe hoho) to “compete” with their ATM’s and they all ended up costing everybody $2.00 a transaction.

Now you’re lucky to find a bank owned ATM except right outside a branch of that particular bank, those branches are rapidly dwindling, and most of the ATM’s are owned and operated by third parties like RediATM. And they all charge @2.50 for the privilege of withdrawing your own money.

PAYID sounds like the net step. By all means use it while it lasts (I certainly will – thanks for the tip off 2dogs – but be ready for the crunch when they have pretty much driven the privately run ATM’s out of business. Once again once the banks have eliminated the competition they will start charging.

It’s the nature of the beast.

    Funny old world.

Izzy Folau has had his life destroyed for quoting the bible, meanwhile 60.000 had to listen to some Aboriginal fella claim he had asked the spirits to protect the players at last night’s SOO.

Peter Beattie’s ARL bans the expression of Christian beliefs but endorses animism.

    A funny old world, indeed.

Grateful that David Thompson has cleared this matter up. Been niggling me ever since that day the petrifying Sex Discrimination Officer dressed me down for using the very word to describe what shall forever remain a gaggle of bitches and tarts, which I had added for emphasis.

Someone emailed me, objecting to my use of the word ‘bitches’. I’m sharing some of my reply as it may be apposite.
While the word can be used misogynistically, the word itself isn’t inherently misogynistic. Unless you’re prepared to claim that needlessly aggressive and obnoxious women, to whom the term generally applies, don’t actually exist, and that we shouldn’t have a word to describe them and thereby warn others.
My use of the word wasn’t careless. Despite their preposterous airs and claims of high-minded activism, the people mentioned in the piece, largely women, are not righteous defenders of the downtrodden. They’re just petty, classless and obnoxious, and, like so many of their fellow woke-lings, driven by spite. It’s important, I think, not to enable their pretensions and vanities, and instead label them correctly, i.e., as the common little bitches they are, with common little motives. Petty malice being a near-inexhaustible natural resource. Now back to our regular programming.

Once again once the banks have eliminated the competition they will start charging.

It’s the nature of the beast.

And the people who have most need of cash from ATMs are the unemployed and the invalid pensioners and the aged who don’t have credit cards much less debit cards. A while back I dropped my car off for a service and wandered over to the local shopping centre to wait for a lift from a friend. It was still quite early and I was approached by a man who was quite clearly mentally impaired in some way asking me for the time. He was waiting for it to become 9 so he could withdraw some money and he kept going to the ATM machine to check the balance despite me trying to tell him to be patient and wait. At the end of the third time he sort of laughed to himself and said that cost me $6 and about that time my lift had arrived and I had to leave so I gave him a tenner and told him to go have a coffee before going to check again hoping like mad that by that time it would be past 9 and he will get his money. Now imagine that this guy goes through this process every week or fortnight or whenever he gets money and there is no one looking out for him and regardless the banks and the ATMs are still going to fleece him. Multiply that by however many people like him around there and there are tens of thousands. These people are easy pickings. I still hate thinking about how awful I felt when I had to leave him unattended.

  22. amortiser

What chills me about the Folau decision is that GoFundMe is saying that he isn’t allowed to raise money to defend himself in court.

This was the stunt that JCU tried to pull on Peter Ridd in his recent action. They claimed he engaged in a “conflict of interest” in receiving funding from the IPA.
When this was raised, counsel for Ridd jumped to his feet and warned JCU counsel that he was in danger of a serious contempt of court in pursuing this line. JCU counsel crawled back in his box on this matter after a short adjournment to consider the matter.

Has Izzy launched proceedings against RA yet? If he has, the GFM are on very shaky ground indeed.

Cassie, Tinta, this week I have a cold, caught during that Kindergarten Special flight from Hawaii. You’d think I’d be immune to all URTI’s in existence now, given the number of children who have passed through my familial arms, but nope, those bugs just keep on doing the Red Queen and I’m lucky I’m still running genetically just that little bit faster than they are.

Doubt if I/we can make anything this Friday nite, but maybe the one after, when we will be escaping the new kitchen installation and will stay on late for a pub nibble. I have to organize my email too, as I forgot that I changed the password on it, and now have to try two or three different passwords I use in order to get back in to it. Or suffer the ignominy of having to request access via another account altogether – one of Hairy’s, so he will get to know.

“My interview was totally fabricated as they wrote that I had said like this in the interview: I confessed what I wrote in the application was false and I came to Korea to work as I had no job in Egypt,” Sabry told reporters at a press conference organized by NANCEN, a refugee support group, at the National Human Rights Commission of Korea office in Seoul, Tuesday.

Dylan Voller defamation case: Media companies liable for Facebook posts, court rules

    By Aap
    AAP
    3:21PM June 24, 2019

Former Northern Territory youth detainee Dylan Voller has won the first round of his defamation case after a judge ruled media companies are liable for postings made on their Facebook pages.

In the landmark ruling, Justice Stephen Rothman on Monday answered yes to the preliminary question of whether Mr Voller had established the companies could be regarded as the publishers of the comments by third-party users. Mr Voller, whose mistreatment in the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre sparked a 2016 royal commission, is suing the Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Centralian Advocate, Sky News Australia and The Bolt Report. The NSW Supreme Court lawsuit relates to comments made about him by members of the public on 10 Facebook posts, published in 2016 and 2017, which he says carry false and defamatory imputations.

They include a claim he attacked a Salvation Army officer who visited him in detention, leaving the man blind in one eye, and also that he’s a rOpist

My guess is there will be a “humbugging” of monumental proportions, when the settlement cheque arrives.

A mate just sent me this, which someone he is connected with has been trying to hawk around US conservative sites.
    Worth a read …

I am writing from down-under to hopefully raise awareness of an issue of religious persecution of an Australian Rugby player, Israel Folau. My apologies for the length of the following, but this is a long and complicated saga.
Israel is an Australian, the eldest of six children born to Tongan parents in Sydney Australia and, like many Pacific Islanders, is a devout Christian. He is an incredibly gifted sportsman, having played all three football codes in Australia at the highest level – Rugby Union, Rugby League and Australian Rules.
Up until last month he had a contract with Rugby Australia (Rugby Union). In a private capacity he published a post on his Instagram account quoting the Old Testament condemning various people to Hell for their sins. Israel didn’t miss anybody on the way through – drunks, idolators, adulterers, fornicators, liars, atheists and thieves – but then made the fatal error. He included homosexuals.
    Well, guess what?
Having consulted widely with drunks, thieves, fornicators, liars and atheists, I find that most seemed to be dismissive of Israel’s views.
    But not homosexuals.
Strangely, even those who were both homosexuals and atheists were suddenly fearful of being condemned to a Hell they didn’t believe in. Israel’s employer, Rugby Australia, complied with the baying mob and terminated his contract.
Rugby Australia’s main sponsor is the national airline Qantas, whose CEO Allan Joyce is openly gay and a vigorous campaigner for gay rights. Joyce claims he had no hand in Israel’s dismissal and, I for one believe him. After all, lying is an eternal damnation offence, so …
Last Thursday night, Israel launched a GoFundMe appeal to fund his litigation against Rugby Australia for breach of contract and wrongful dismissal. This campaign took off and raised AUD 750,000 from 10,000 donors in four days. To provide some perspective, this would be the equivalent of a U.S. campaign raising USD 6.5 million from 130,000 donors. However, after relentless Mainstream Media pressure over the weekend, GoFundMe suddenly discovered this morning that Israel’s campaign had been in “breach of standards” and closed it down, announcing that it it would return all donations.
As an example of the media frenzy, Israel’s wife Maria is a prominent sportsperson in her own right, and several media commentators wanted her disciplined by the administrators of her chosen sport (Netball) merely for supporting her husband. Thankfully those administrators have resisted this disgraceful push … so far at least.

GoFundMe in Australia have allowed previous campaigns for a mosque (which may preach very similar texts to Israel), an Australian Greens politician seeking funds to sue another politician for defamation, and a convicted criminal seeking funding to defend charges of assault.

If you are scratching your head at this point as to what has happened to Israel’s First Amendment rights, well, we in Australia don’t have any Constitutional freedom of speech rights. This is why this appalling behaviour of GoFundMe in particular needs exposure.

Let’s be clear here. I am like many contributors to Israel’s GoFundMe. I don’t agree with his views, but am disturbed by the concerted effort to shut him down and prevent him from having his day in court. As some French guy once allegedly plagiarised from someone else … “I disagree with what you say, but send me your direct debit details” … or something.

If you are scratching your head at this point as to what has happened to Israel’s First Amendment rights, well, we in Australia don’t have any Constitutional freedom of speech rights. This is why this appalling behaviour of GoFundMe in particular needs exposure.

We don’t have Constitutional freedom of speech rights but we do have a very long legal tradition that respects freedom of speech rights, and which is bound to continue the tradition, because once they abandon the traditions that created them, they also destroy the legal system itself.

you need to talk to people like the not gain or about that. The reason why some activists especially homosexual activists and they’re pro bono homosexualist lawyers like things like discrimination tribunals is because it costs nothing to make a complaint, you can then start setting president and building a set of precedence that you can use in case law. Don’t ask me details because I’m not a lawyer that Bernard Gaynor has explain this quite well and I noticed that one of the transgender Warfare cases brought against the Daily Telegraph in tje AHRC actually cited a couple of the homosexual activist cases that were brought against a mentally impaired man whom these fuckwits would have probably fleeced had his family not have the foresight to put his house etc in a trust which no one could touch. This was the same homosexual is activist who has been going after Bernard for some years now. You need to have your head read if you think a bit of tradition is going to save you. No it will not. These assholes don’t give a flying f*** about tradition and they will use any means particularily kangaroo Court such as administrative appeals tribunal and anti-discrimination tribunals to f*** you right up the ass. Gain or lost his house fighting a tribunal which is now even ignoring a High Court decision made against it and The fuk Wit virgin Gladys, photius girl, has done sweet fa to rain the men but instead passed legislation the day after another court case to make sure that people can hound Bernard and others like him again. And they picked little people like Bernard and a mentally handicapped man and a grandmother because they know they don’t have the sort of profile that Izzy has to fight back. Am I angry? Oh yes.

Mark Dapin’s books on the myths of Australian involvement in Viet Nam do make interesting reading, indeed. It seems more men volunteered for National Service, then ever claimed conscientious objection, the majority of conscripted schoolteachers spent their call up teaching the Pacific Islands Regiment, and “However, during the war itself, all men of military age were given the chance to sidestep the draft by joining the CMF. Men who chose the CMF option, were expected to preform six years effective service in the Citizen’s Military Forces. Students could join their University Regiment and train in the vacation. If a man failed to fulfill his CMF obligations, he was notionally liable to be drummed into National Service, but it’s unclear as to whether this ever happened. It seems unlikely that the Army would be inclined to accept as a full – time soldier (sic) a recruit incapable of preforming the often less- then -arduous part- time expected in the C.M.F.”

Seniors advocate Ian Henschke calls for urgent reduction of deeming rate

National Seniors chief advocate Ian Henschke has called on the Morrison government to urgently reduce the high deeming rate, which is financially “crippling” over a million Australian retirees.

Mr Henschke told Sky News pensioners are being shortchanged by the government’s decision not to reduce the current rate of 3.25 per cent – a figure that was set when Scott Morrison was social services minister and when interest rates were much higher.

Under current social security laws pensioners are income-tested on the assumption they are earning a specified return on their investments. If a deemed rate is higher than an actual rate, the pensioner loses out.

The current deeming rate for singles is 3.25 per cent for assets over $51,200 and 1.75 per cent for those under that level.

Mr Henschke said over a million Australians were suffering under the system as interest rates fell.

He called on the government to install an independent pension tribunal that could set pensions, deeming rates and ease the financial “suffering” of retirees.

“We know pensioners are doing it tough,” he said. “This is why we have to have an independent pension tribunal and an independent body to set deeming rates otherwise pensioners become a political football just as the self-funded retirees did in the last election.”

“We want both sides of parliament, Labor and Liberal, to agree to an independent body to set deeming rates and to set the pension.”

Mr Henschke took aim at Mr Morrison for “standing by and watching” as pensioners grappled with the rate despite four interest rate cuts since 2015.

The advocate’s push comes as Liberal MP Tony Pasin said the government needed to consider changing the deeming rate.

“My understanding is that minister [Anne] Ruston has asked her department for some advice regarding the settings,” he said. “[It’s] absolutely the right thing to do given the Reserve Bank’s decision on the official cash rate earlier this month. It’s particularly important given… there is some consideration being given to yet further cuts in the future.”

“Brian Leach from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was let go by the supermarket on Wednesday after five years in the job for breaching the company’s social media policy. A colleague complained that the comments in the Billy Connolly skit – which poked fun at suicide bombers -were anti-Islamic. Mr Leach, who worked as a ‘meeter and greeter’ at the town’s Asda , announced the sacking on Facebook.”.

The skit was anti religion in general. The dobber appears to have been Asian. The sacking came after he already removed the post and made a written grovelling apology. I would be more concerned about the complainant who was offended by jokes about suicide bombers.

You mentioned that some weeks ago. I looked into and was surprised to find that hemp, which contains very little CBD, has a number of desirable properties including pain relief. Even for healthy people there can be benefits. It is surprisingly high in vitamin D, has an excellent fatty acid balance, and many important micronutrients. It is safer than typical painkillers. AFAIK hemp has no side effects to worry about. Makes a good oil dressing for meals. Older people in particular should think about hemp oil\seed.

MV I can’t recommend products. That takes too much leg work. You can try the below link. I typically buy supplements from iHerb in the USA because the prices there even after postage are better than in Aus. Also for some products they have quality controls in place.

Memoryvault, this fucking contraption won’t let me link to previous postings.

No, no … that’s the telex machine.
Just move to … no that’s the piano.
To the right … yes, the computer.

For better or worse, it was what set me on the path that my life subsequently took, Zulu.
If I hadn’t been involved in the case I probably would have worked for DSS for another year, paid off the mortgage, grown Kiwi Fruit and other cash crops, and be comfortably retired now.

It’s funny how just one relatively minor thing in itself, can change your whole life.

  188. Thanks Mitch.
I’ll get onto it first thing tomorrow.

  189. Zulu Kilo Two Alpha

I can’t find how to do links on theis contraption- I’ve a bad case of “Rifleman’s back” and fucked up knees.

I was never going to bother with any claim – if the Morrison Government is repatriating the Sharrouf brats, from Syria, well here goes.

    😀 Will do.

  191. What sort of a “contraption” is it, Zulu?

  192. Done Deal

abc reporting on Ash Barty becoming tennis no. 1: “Barty becomes just the 5th Australian to become world number one since rankings were introduced; Pat Rafter, Leyton Hewitt, and her mentor Evonne Goolagong in 1976”. End of story…..wonder who the fifth one was?? my god they are getting worse. didn’t think it was possible. Petty small minded dolts. best suited to a sheltered-workshop….oh wait….

If you’ve been following the Tory leadership race, you’ll likely find this quite funny.

Michael Gove is such a disgusting weasel. He’s creepy like Rudd.

  197. mh

Two broadcasters from Macquarie Sports Radio made an official complaint to GoFundMe about Israel Folau’s fund page.

Just listened to them celebrating their ‘win’. It wasn’t fatso SJW Mark Levy either.

Well Cassie I kinda wrote a big f*** you on the Herald Suns blog page today which of course they won’t publish either but you know they can always stop me from the limited free access. (I’ve already put up a few bigger FUs on Tim’s blog which never get published ). And I will just register again under some other email addy if I ever get banned from the free threads to let them know how they’re travelling.

Collits absolutely skewered The Daily Telegraph today – it was absolutely perfect. I’m kind of hoping that was a Markson editorial he hammered. It was sufficiently stupid, sanctimonious, and shallow to be one of hers. And I’ll from the way I read a short promo for Speers”‘ little feature on last year’s spill, Sharri Markson’s piece had nothing to do with spooking Turnbull, he got spooked by something Craig Laundy told him after Laundy had dinner with a particularly nervous Queensland MP. LOL. So she’s kind of over inflating her own self importance here.

I just realised why Sky also is beginning to irritate me and yeah I’m really slow to have workex this out. It’s because all their commentators are basically from the Murdoch press so they spend a lot of time self promoting and bagging their competition but never actually bag their colleagues at the press he publish nonsense and lies. So journos who have groupies like Bolt and Panahi thrown these little chewy bits to them just to keep them happy while their colleagues are spouting this absolutely libel
ous bulls***, he same sort of s*** that they then criticize in their competition like FitzsSimons. And in the meantime the little guy who pays for all this loses their own right to free speech or to support whoever they want and is supposedly expected to pay for these little media flunkies to have these f****** juvenile pot shops at each other and then sanctimoniously dump on them. I must have been asleep for half my life . ( or it could be that most the time I read them all posted here it’s because I’m waiting for some stuff for work and not really pay attention).

  199. Good evening OCO.

You are obviously having fun. Good.
Thanks for the clips – most enjoyable.

The only Sky after dark I bother to listen to is Credlin. Blot is too flaky, the 8PM slot is too much a grab bag of random and Paul Murray is a half way SJW some times

  201. None

Is Ash Barty were a true champion she would acknowledge Margaret Court who has also said some pretty positive and nice things about her tennis. But when somebody pointed out to her about it being a long drought since an Australian one at the French Open – the last winner being Margaret Court of course – she immediately referred to Sam Stosur’s attempt. Emma is almost like a train dancer. And I thought that was really pathetic by bharti. She’s not as fearless as she pretends to be and while she has many commendable traits in the way she goes about her tennis, that certainly is not one of them.

MV, true, but a few things to do before I hit the sack.. So no more posting tonight.

Paul Murray has had a couple of good, memorable Spits, reader, but I’ve always thought he was a lefty too.

  204. Mitch M.

I don’t agree with all of this but I think he is accurate with respect to an invasion of Iran: far too expensive and ruinous. I like the Caspian Report series on Youtube, a wide range of interesting geopolitical issues addressed.

  205. The only Sky after dark I bother to listen to is Credlin.

Peta Crelin is also Mrs Peta Loughnane, wife of Brian Loughnane.
Brian Loughnane is the technical string-puller wizard for what is euphemistically referred to as our new “progressive Liberal Party”.

Everybody here knows Credlin was Senior Advisor to Abbott, but how many remember she was also Senior Advisor to Turdbull, when he was Leader of the Federal Liberal Opposition.

How does the old saying go? –
“Beware of Greeks bearing gifts – it may just turn out to be a Trojan horse”.

I knew ACL would come to the party but in some ways it would have been good if there was a more neutral option. Plus how long will go fund me take to refund donations. I bet you they hold off doing this for quite some time. Anyway good on Izzy and ACL for continuing the fight

JC The media are going to continue to present support for Izz as another band of weird little Christian troglodytes. It’s really important that people who aren’t Christian but are supporting Izzt make it abundantly clear that they’re doing it because this is a freedom issue and goes to protecting freedoms for everyone even fuckwitted bigots in the media

  212. Old School Conservative

Yes Bruce, you are too dumb to realise what a sucker you are. Folau owns a string of houses, he is rolling in it.

Old school do you think that the media and the lefties would let Izzy sell a house at market value? Easy and his wife lived in the house that’s worth just over 2 million dollars in Sydney. Do you want to ask how much the houses that some of the ABC luvvies live in are worth? What I have a look at the Property Portfolio this and unionists? Also Izzue’so wife lives and trains in Adelaide and has commitments to the New Zealand national team while Izzy is on the East Coast. They effectively maintain two households. Not different to what a lot of politicians do. Oh let’s go there.

  215. GoFuckYou is sure taking a whole lot longer to refund than it took to hoover in my money.

  216. None

Exactly Socrates. It needs to be made in London Lee clear to everyone that go fund me has not refunded anything and you need to make sure that you make lots of comments to that effect on various new sites and to various media personalities especially when they print otherwise.

  217. Old School Conservative

Socrates, it will be interesting to see if you get back the 2.2% transaction fee, or any “tips”.

  218. If GoFuckYourself does not refund my entire $5 I’ll be having a lot to say.
I expect $5 back, in a timely fashion, not $4.95 and not in 10 days time.

There’ll be ice-skating in hell by-the-way, before I next give money to anything on GoFuckYourself.com

If only the Folau’s could maintain the second house with a taxpayer funded “living away from home” allowance!

Well I’m going to congratulate Rob Stott who is a screaming queen. He and I used to have some occasional head knocks on Twitter even about gay marriage but he was always ok (“I’m a peach” was his favourite saying. And we always said we’d have a beer together one day – even if I know he wanted to treat me like some sort of specimen he could examine). I can’t remember where he was working then maybe Yahoo but I just saw his Tweets on this article and he’s got it right. This is a contract dispute and go fund me just played into Izzy’s hands (Rob might be a peach but he’s still a gay fascist at heart).
