    Mater,

Heading to Maccas is a unique feature of the Tesla Bogan.

It also dispenses Winnie Blues out of the console and plays Def Leppard on cassette.

  4. Bar Beach Swimmer

Or will she be asking why the royal commission never investigated the Ballarat orphanage or any of the state education departments?

Happy to be corrected, but the RC’s terms of reference only covered institutional responses to child s3xual @buse so did not go near the public school system.

    So are Winnie Blues, Nick.

    Just sayin’.

So, Bar Beach Swimmer, no state school teacher in the while of human history has ever, anywhere, committed an abusive act?

Apart from the Victorian cases I mentioned, see the relevant part of the Wood Royal Commission in NSW (1997) and the John Jay report in the US for an alternative view. (Fascist redneck homophones all?)

The couple of “poor” neglected kids at our school are defined by being fat lardballs with tits.

One also has his own ipad.

    So poor.

  9. Bruce in WA

Some schools in Western Australia have been providing breakfasts for Aboriginal students for some time, on that basis.

I used to do that for some of my kids back in 1975 — send them down to the nearby store to buy some food — out of my own pocket. No big deal — the kids were just f***ing hungry!

Tesla catches fire while being transported to find out why it caught on fire

    Then there’s this one:

A Trailer Full Of Burnt Teslas Found Mysteriously Parked On I-80 In Nevada (14 Aug)

A transport trailer full of “burned up” Teslas was mysteriously spotted, parked, between Carlin and Elko, Nevada, on I-80 yesterday, about 285 miles east of Tesla’s Gigafactory, which is located in Sparks, NV, near Reno.

It was reported that a brake fire on the rig caused them all to go up, but as you can see in the story there’s quite a bit of scepticism about that explanation. On the other hand if one Tesla went up by itself it would certainly take the rest of them with it. Expensive!

Ms Adern says that many children are going to school starving so I am wondering if they provide breakfast too.
Waiting till lunch time to get fed seems a bit extreme for children so terribly disadvantaged that their families cannot afford food for their children to eat at breakfast and none for the school day. Very sad state of affairs.

It was thus here toward the end of 1949. Due to the coal miners strike the Salvation Army had set up a large copper with a fire under it outside the school gates to give for breakfast a mug of scrambled egg to all kids who brought their enamel mugs. At lunch time the copper provided soup.
My mum let me take an old mug, even though my father was not out of work, so that I as a new pupil would feel like everyone else.
To this day I always remember the scrambled egg being the best I’d every tasted, and the soup was great. At 9yrs of age to feel I was like everyone else was also very good.
This was at public school in the St George area of Sydney.

Italy crisis: PD and Five Star agree coalition deal after talks

    How did we get here?
The two parties have been in discussions since Mr Conte resigned as prime minister in dramatic fashion last week.

His decision came after Matteo Salvini, the leader of the nationalist League party, tabled a no-confidence motion against him.

Mr Salvini’s League party had been in power with the anti-establishment Five Star Movement for 14 months when he effectively ended the coalition, saying he could no longer work with his partners.

Both Mr Salvini and Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi called for fresh elections after meeting President Mattarella.

    This is a bullshit meme.
Repeating it doesn’t make it true.

Regarding the risk of electrochemical failure, [this] report concludes that the propensity and severity of fires and explosions from the accidental ignition of flammable electrolytic solvents used in Li-ion battery systems are anticipated to be somewhat comparable to or perhaps slightly less than those for gasoline or diesel vehicular fuels. The overall consequences for Li-ion batteries are expected to be less because of the much smaller amounts of flammable solvent released and burning in a catastrophic failure situation*

*Stephens, D.; Shawcross, P.; et, al. (October 2017). “Lithium-ion battery safety issues for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles” (Report No. DOT HS 812 418). Washington, DC: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

.. and you’re a teacher? No wonder our students are fucked.

You do understand the difference between prediction and measurement, right?

How about you look at actual FMEA studies, which show that some of these cars will catch fire when simply immersed in water (Chevy Volt, pp595)

.. or even some real data which show a very high rate of spontaneous combustion after physical damage to the batteries. Numbers of Teslas on the road are relatively low, so its hard to draw too many conclusions, but

When you look at the number of fires in collisions, (the numbers come from here and here) it comes to one in 32,603 registered vehicles. That’s far less frequent than one fire per 6,333 Model S’s

Toilet signage ‘over the top’, says PM

The Canberra offices of Scott Morrison’s own department have posted signs on its toilet doors inviting staff to “use the bathroom that best fits your gender identity”.
The sign, posted on Twitter on Thursday, notes that the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet is “committed to staff inclusion and diversity”.
Mr Morrison said he had spoken with departmental officials about the signage.
“I don’t think this is necessary – I think people can work out which room to use,” he told 2GB Radio.
“It is political correctness over the top.”
Asked whether the signs would come down, Mr Morrison said: “That’s what I expect.”

  53. The ICAC inquiry may have taken a quite interesting turn. Murnane says that after meeting with Dastyari she spoke to Robertson, who advised her to say nothing about the cash. Dastyari agrees that he so advised, but messages between the two of them suggest that this was after she met with Rob ertson. Dastyari says that she did not mention what she alleges the lawyer said. So one might expect that the ALP line will be that she made up her account, further isolating her. This argument can be rebutted if Murnane also met Dastyari before she talked to Robertson. Dastyari had to leave his phone with ICAC so that his message history can be checked. All this could blow up even bigger.

THE SUN SAYS Boris Johnson is not a dictator, he is defending democracy from Remoaners

    Loco over BoJo

WE’VE seen infantile antics from Remainer MPs and pundits before, but nothing to match yesterday’s deranged mass tantrum.

Boris Johnson is entirely within his rights to suspend Parliament, effectively for four sitting days after conference season, to put forward a new programme for post-Brexit government.

It doesn’t make him a “dictator”.

It doesn’t deprive Remainers of yet another chance to stop Brexit or vote him out . . . more’s the pity. It does make it a bit harder. But so what?

They are, after all, trying to block a decision most voters backed and which THEY put into law. They even made No Deal all but inevitable too, by defeating the only deal on the table. How clever this smug bunch thought they were then.

Up against Theresa May’s supine Government these saboteurs and their biased Speaker Bercow gleefully used every ruse to negate 17.4million Leave votes.

Now, confronted by a new, driven No10 fighting fire with fire, they clutch their pearls and demand the Queen intervenes.

One Labour moron threatens the monarchy. Another virtually incites a riot.

But their professed concern for our democracy is utterly false. These same MPs have plotted a coup in which Boris is replaced by a stooge PM and a Remainer Government literally no one voted for, to stop the biggest ballot box mandate in our history being enacted.

These charlatans will lie, cheat and scream blue murder to reverse Brexit.

Boris is not “running scared of our democracy”. Nor is he harming it.

He is defending it from Remoaners.

I have read that the music of today is less complex than in previous decades, nothing new going on. Then I look at people like Ed Sheeren, currently in a heap of legal trouble for copyright infringement(aren’t they all derivative these days?) and he aint no Johnny Rotten but seems representative of so much music today with it lovey dovey airy fairy effing nonsense.

Has music descended that far that we may as well go back to the earlier decades? What about classical and instrumental music? Are there so few of us left that can enjoy music without the need for lyrics?

Australia now discovering what it means to dynamite all your own industry, export all the capacity to a Tyranny and throw yourself completely at the mercy of a slavery based economy.

With one tweet — “American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China” — Trump offered a glimpse of where he might take the trade fight next. Although Trump followed his stark warning only with an announcement of higher tariffs on Chinese goods, he later reiterated that the White House had the power under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 to force U.S. companies to divest from China, keeping the option of an economic withdrawal on the table.

If all of its threatened tariffs come to pass, by Dec. 16, the United States will have subjected 95 percent of imported Chinese goods to tariffs ranging from 15 to 30 percent. Beyond increasing the percentage of the levies, this leaves little room for escalation, meaning the leverage gained in negotiations by threatening more tariffs is reaching a point of diminishing returns. Applying more pressure on China to reach a trade deal could, therefore, necessitate a change in tactics, which a mandatory U.S. business divestiture from China would certainly provide. But the downsides of starting down that path, including an increase in domestic political opposition and the collateral damage to the U.S. economy, could deter such a move.

Just because we can’t hear the whips from here does not mean that we are not now a slavery based economy. Being completely and utterly dependent upon the chicom peoples liberation army secret police keeping their slave labour factories compliant.

Did have some agricultural production covered with forward pricing, but that price protection will be used up imminently.

We see what bits of trade with australia the Tyrant really values.

Coal and iron ore just held up at the ports with paperwork.

Wool picked over and now in a strategic price discovery probe to the bottom. Attempts by individual producers to withdraw supply have no effect on the collective buyer’s Tyrannical control of demand.

Every act of passing in unsold at auction simply creates a backlog of selling pressure that the monopoly buying power of the Tyrant can exploit later.

Capitulation of wool producers can be seen in the increased supply of merino wool sheep being sold for slaughter to supply the chicom demand for red meat to fill in the supply gap created by the pig plague.

  73. John Constantine

Cash remittances from australia now most valuable to the Tyrant.

Can we expect to see chicom fentanyl supply to australia hit the levels of the chemical warfare the Tyrant is waging upon American flyover country?.

Unless changes are made to the legislation passed by Parliament last year, to be a registered trade you will need registration by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) as a domestic builder – most likely a form of domestic builder – limited (DB-L) registration. As such you will need to hold domestic building insurance eligibility with the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) and therefore be eligible to work for both builders and home owners.
What can I do to get a licence?

The Government has not indicated these requirements yet. But it is likely that you will require a trade qualification, such as a Certificate III or completion of an apprenticeship, and satisfy some personal probity tests. This is to be advised.
What if I’m working as one of the trades listed but don’t get registered or licensed?

You will not be able to undertake building work in Victoria. It will be an offence for a trade to work on a site and not be registered or licensed. It will also be an offence for the owner or builder to have anyone in these trades working on the site without being registered or licensed, or in the process of gaining a trade qualification such as an apprentice.

A few aldi plastic bags full of fifties donated to our kleptocracy will get this sorted though.

Mandatory math tests for new teachers don’t add up, critics say

A University of Toronto education researcher is raising concerns about requiring new teachers to pass a math test, saying they could dissuade people from diverse backgrounds from even entering education and also worsen the current shortage of French teachers.

But based on research Reid has seen out of the United States, she’s not convinced teacher math tests will solve the lower student test scores, saying there doesn’t seem to be a connection between teachers passing this type of test and student achievement.

She also points to U.S. research that finds black and Latino teaching candidates have higher failure rates when it comes to math skills, which researchers associate with socioeconomics and systemic discrimination in the school system.

“We want to diversify the teacher population and not go the other way,” Reid said.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn has promised legislation to prevent Johnson leading the UK out of the EU without a deal, which could in practice mean the UK never really leaves the EU, despite the 17.4 million votes for Brexit being the largest vote ever recorded in any UK election or referendum.

    Who’s the globalist?

Wool picked over and now in a strategic price discovery probe to the bottom. Attempts by individual producers to withdraw supply have no effect on the collective buyer’s Tyrannical control of demand.
Every act of passing in unsold at auction simply creates a backlog of selling pressure that the monopoly buying power of the Tyrant can exploit later.

Restart the wool stockpile with a view to building the worlds most modern and efficient wool processing and clothing industry.
Restart the iron and coal industry. Build the worlds most modern and efficient iron ore/steel factories.
Rebuild the coal fired power stations, run these industries with the worlds cheapest power.

Yes, racing in dangerous but it’s far more dangerous for female jockeys. The industry now loves them because the supply of males is drying up (especially in the regions) and they make weight far easier. Apart from those cynical advantages, however, all of their natural traits endanger rather than benefit them. Naturally – this being Australia – the ongoing spate of female jockey deaths has led to “calls” for the entire culture of competitive, tight riding to be outlawed for the ladies.

Since very literate Australian must be aware of the issues around the use of toilets by various ganders, even the dullest drone in PM&C’s ‘corporate’ would have been aware that it is a sensitive topic and the the sort of very official looking and presumably ubiquitous signs like the one seen by Chris Ullmann would need to be endorsed at a very high level indeed, Secretarial if not Ministerial.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn has promised legislation to prevent Johnson leading the UK out of the EU without a deal

How is he going to introduce it?

The 20 balloted MPs for private member’s bills this session have all had their turn. The deadline for the last 10 minute rule this session expired just before BoJo announced the prorogation.

He might try one of the four 10 ten minute rule slots before 31 Oct in the new session, but those can’t pass until after the last EU council meeting before Brexit, so the EU couldn’t agree in time to whatever the legislation said.

That only leaves a no confidence motion. If that gets up, BoJo responds by calling an election after 31 Oct. Brexit happens during the election campaign and the prorogued parliament can’t do anything to stop it.

The methodologies for staying in a country of choice are well-researched. Options include:

    – arrive by boat, with no passport. Say you’re persecuted in home country. Forces country of choice to prove otherwise.

    – work out whatever your country of choice has identified as the push-button compassion label of the time. Options include: religion, sexuality, race. Claim you’re it.

    – have a baby as fast as possible. Say you have to stay in country of choice to look after it.

    – get into a situation with the local police, either involuntarily or not. Claim they beat you severely and you’re being deported to hush it all up.

    – utilise the media to promote any of the above.

Rinse and repeat for several years. Then claim you know no other life, language or values, and forcing you to live elsewhere is a violation of everything.

Women taking hormone therapy for menopause increase their chance of breast cancer

by 60 per cent, a landmark global study has found.

The risk is twice as great for women taking the drugs for 10 years rather than five,

according to research from Australian National University and the NSW Cancer Council.

The risk can last for more than a decade.

Data from more than 100,000 women with breast cancer was examined by researchers,

who concluded nearly all types of hormone therapy come with this risk. This is the case
even if used for as little as one year.

Menopause hormone therapy, known as MHT, also increases the risk of stroke, venous thrombosis and ovarian cancer but reduces the risk of later-life hip fractures.

Rita Panahi: Measly sentences are no surprise with a Labor state government

Blame for the soft sentences that have become common in Victoria can be traced directly to the state government, who are responsible for appointing soft-on-crime judges and magistrates, writes Rita Panahi.
    Rita Panahi, Herald Sun
    Subscriber only

    August 29, 2019 10:19pm

It’s a little rich for the Victorian Premier and senior ministers to be decrying inadequate sentences when Labor is responsible for appointing soft-on-crime magistrates and judges.

Jill Hennessy has been state Attorney-General for less than a year but her Labor predecessors, Martin Pakula and Rob Hulls, served about 16 years collectively and their legacy is felt daily in Victorian courts.

Indeed, the impact of their judicial appointments will be felt for decades to come.

It would be naive to think that Hennessy will be any different in appointing ideological bedfellows to the bench. And, once appointed, they have a job for life — or at least until their 70th birthday.

“The special reason provisions were too broad and left far too much discretion for the courts … all the hand-wringing this week from the Premier down does nothing to protect the ambos, police and other emergency service workers going to work tonight, tomorrow and next week.”

The soft justice meted out to criminals in Victoria has drawn comment far and wide, including from federal Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton last year. “If you’re appointing civil libertarians over a long period of time, then you’re going to get softer sentences,” Mr Dutton said.

Don’t expect the situation to improve unless the state government brings in more mandatory minimum terms and removes the wriggle room so easily available to magistrates and judges.
