How dare you!

Having to deal with the global swarmists must be unbelievably difficult for any political leader who finds they are dealing with the con in con-servation to the extent it has now become mandatory. That elections depend on such matters really does suggest our Western supposedly rational way of life is heading off into the wilderness. There is a ton of money to be made through channelling various projects subsidised by public funding.

It is not just how fantastically gullible these people are, but how the left has latched onto these various issues. There are no skeptics on the left, and not all that many on the right. Bi-partisan madness.

And then there are real issues that also need deep consideration but who can understand the intricacies of the Middle East, other than that for the left, anything that is done that is different – or even exactly the same – from how it was previously done, and for which some victim can be conjured, or some responsibility can be manufactured, becomes a focal point for criticism. The alliance of Socialists, Climate activists, University far-left academics and the Media (SCUM for short) will ruin our lives. California here we come.

As Victor Davis Hanson asks, Is America Entering a Dark Age? And not just America but the whole of the West, and that means you.

  1. Sometimes I do wonder that these people are just a very vocal minority and don’t have as much influence as portrayed. Listening to working people, disrupted by the extinction rebels as an example, there are no good words said about the latter whatsoever.

Twelve months ago, away from Catallaxy, I felt like a lone voice in the wilderness with regard whole climate change nonsense that was permeating the air. This week alone, in seven different places, I have heard nothing but criticism, ridicule and condemnation of these mega hypocrites who want us to do the things they are not even smart enough to to do themselves. The two tradies working on our deck this morning were in fine form as they offered to use a water cannon to shift them off the pavement and lecture them on getting an actual job. I’m more keen on leaving them where they are but letting the traffic drive around them and allowing them to experience the full force of several days and nights of climate variables in Slow City* on the Yarra.

    * H/T to the latest brain fart, designed at great expense, from our esteemed City Council designed to rid us of easy access to and across town.

you mean the Stinkies – from Revolting Stinkation?

Indeed. More like extinction rabble, soon to become extinction refuse.

Perusing the Global Times newspaper as a tourist here in China I came across this explanation for why the Western system cannot solve problems – it is, according to the writer, because “ trying to solve problems just lead to a political struggles which leads to ideological disputes and nothing ever gets done.”

I pondered this as I looked at the enormous Three Gorges dam rising in the distance in the midst of a new town populated by more than a million immigrants over the last 20 years

That writer has it completely backwards.

There are always ideological differences which feed into political disputes and struggles. That writer clearly has an ideology which values getting things done over preserving life and freedoms. Because to get things done in the face of opposition eventually leads either to negotiation or to tanks rolling over people.

That’s a very powerful comparison. Another one for the ammo belt.

And yet every time we solve a problem they steal our solution.

  9. And yet every time we solve a problem they steal our solution.

What? Like maintaining and increasing the number of coal-fired power stations, rather than replacing them with ruinables?

As Victor Davis Hanson asks, Is America Entering a Dark Age? And not just America but the whole of the West, and that means you.

A great essay. He answers his own question, and the answer is yes, we are already in a Dark Age.

Our ancestors were builders and pioneers and mostly fearless. We are regulators, auditors, bureaucrats, adjudicators, censors, critics, plaintiffs, defendants, social media junkies and thin-skinned scolds. A distant generation created; we mostly delay, idle and gripe.

I’ve been mounting the same arguments as Victor for years. My grandfather was around when the Wright brothers first flew, then lived to see man walk on the moon. Truly a greater generation.

It’s settled science™, further validation of Blair’s Law: “the ongoing process by which the world’s multiple idiocies are becoming one giant, useless force”.

And yet every time we solve a problem they steal our solution.

Like building the largest High Speed Rail system in the World in just ten years, that solution?

Like building large numbers of coal and nuclear Power Stations to give everyone very cheap electricity, that solution?

Like building dams to ensure water supply, while in Australia we haven’t built much in the way of dams in about thirty years, that solution?

If you wanted to ruin China, you’d unleash Keynes and deep greens.

Which is probably why they have the CCP approved insult, “white leftist”.

    Angry Greta, media-made
    Nothing beyond your outrage
Littlest things bring greatest ravings from you.

    Standing at the gabfest podium,
Giving vent to all your odium
Ticking of the sinners with your wicked black look
With the braids she looked much colder
    Knitted brows with hate a-smolder
Made her look a little like a Wehrmacht fan

    Angry Greta, media-made
    May I inquire discreetly
Can you conceive that you might leave me be

Sat at home to watch some tellie
Greta growled I’d go to Hellie
And those I care if I should dare to do it again

Bought a steak, and Greta blamed me
Drove the car, and Greta shamed me
For coffee smokes hobbies and jokes and alcohol too.

    Angry Greta, media-made
Where would I be without you
Soon as you blink I think I’ll slink from view

Men have never encountered the family court or fought the nazis.

At least they didn’t claim to be black.

The thunberg kid has done a good job. She has brought the soros fascist UN to its knees financially ,with all the money they spent helpo[iing her to destroy Western Society with her Lie Fest . Niw all we need is governments to withdraw all funding ,if the US does this they are stuffed ,get on with it Donald take over the u.n. Builing hen they go broke and build a coal fired power station on the site, help WVA supplyimh the coal and sell the power to the decromats in NSW. put a small plaque on it like a grave .

ER is just chiliastic PolPot nihilism. Take just one example; they were threatening to disrupt Sydney Trains, which saves hundreds of millions of car journeys and (according to the transport minister) is fully offset for the electricity it uses. Needless to say, if they ever achieved their utopia, it would be like something out of Animal Farm

  22. Old Lefty

I.e. all animals are equal but some (the politburo) are more equal than others. The proles (redneck scum as they are) would have to make sacrifices to keep the pigs in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.

To your list of what is really Gramsci’s Long March of the LEFT Through the Institutions coming to fruition…I would add …amongst others…the CAGW-captured Social[st] activist heads of central banks and bankers in general …and the culture of fear they create using self-manufactured risk that becomes a Hydra-like monster that no dissenting bank or business dare confront.
The Left is waging war worldwide…against reality…against reason….observation…freedom of speech …against childhood…family…the individual…..aspiration…against commonsense….science…democracy and everything real….everything that helps human beings to control their own lives…pre-requisite for mental health. ..
What chance is there for objective truth or attention to evidence when central bankers…Debelle in this case… tell business and stakeholders this…
.’A transition to a green and low-carbon economy is not a niche nor is it a “nice to have” for the happy few. It is crucial for our own survival. There is no alternative. Therefore, we need to come together and take action to create a bright, sustainable future.’
Does he not know as we’re entitled to expect he does….that on the path RBA and the government have set us right now…Australia will be the only 1st wrld country to have a Mickey Mouse 100% weather-dependent intermittent electricity system…with no security of baseload….just winging it on the weather FOREVER… while all of our competitors and trade partners have the security of baseload electricity forever? How WILL we survive?
…Seems it’s infinitely more important to our central bankers that Australia conform with the mass hysteria …and OBEY the Global Socialism diktat…than it is for Australia to survive as a 1st world nation.
RBA musings on CAGW are absolutely riven w circular argument.
Government interferes in the market…corrupting it by making weather-dependent intermittents ABSOLUTE TOP DOG… mandating that they be favored for dispatch over coal …relegating coal to standby mode of cycling and ramping—a mode that causes both economic and material damage to coal plants….the huge costs of which MUST be recovered from the consumer in order to have coal…the only tech that’s keeping Australian lights on…stick around and suffer the damage.
When retail price of electricity has been deliberately pushed sky high by that government interference…and consumers naturally try to dodge the high grid prices by installing their own rooftop solar…RBA then decides this is a big mystery…a great puzzle…why on earth have Australians rushed to TRY to be autonomous with rooftop solar….they muse.
RBA then decides the rush to rooftop and to wind and solar farms is because…
“There has been a rapid decline in the cost of renewable energy sources.”
Couldn’t be because artificial demand around the world caused by UN interference…mandating emissions cuts …massively incentivized RE R&D & to help with that.. at the same time banks slapped a RISK PREMIUM on RE’s competitor…COA…to nobble it and put it on death row…nuking the competition…could it…and then Australians were fleeced to pay subsidies to foreign carpetbaggers …the new Turnbull gold rush…to make RE ‘seem’ even cheaper?
    What a mystery!
APRA CEO Geoff Summerhayes said ‘the summer’s extreme weather, severe drought and floods were all fuelled by climate change’ …..even though scientists and IPCC say the opposite in AR5 report and elsewhere…that there’s no evidence to attribute drought or any severe weather to CAGW.
We should all remember this…that RBA Deputy Debelle is happy for China to transition away from coal…says gas will compensate…
“Natural gas is expected to account for a larger share of its energy mix, and Australia is well placed to help meet this demand,” he said.
Doesn’t go on to say how Australia will fund PBS—Medicare..NDIS..pensions..selfare..education…military security…all those goodies only 1st world countries with secure power supplies and large export income can begin to afford.
When it comes down to it only the MSM has the power to pull the rug out from under this circular insanity….just by asking these influential people to spell out their evidence for CAGW…not just let them piously say ‘I believe the science’ but make sure each preacher for the hoax spells out his OWN compelling evidence.
But of course the Long March got that MSM problem squared away long ago…so that by now journalists are almost all on side with the hoax…and with Global Socialism.
