Protestors are banned outside abortion clinics but not race courses?

The abattoir owners only need to talk Bout a clump of equine cells and it being their right. The Left will cheer.

Don’t worry, guys. No great rush. Take your time.

Too late Calli. They’re just going to sit on their fat arses and discuss the issue.
What we have is government by neglect. None of them are able to do anything because the system isn’t capable of getting out of its own way.
Every department manager is just hoping nothing happens on their shift. There is no action being carried out to stop the oinkageddon because they are all busy making protocols and writing position papers to actually address the issue.

Earlier this morning, Frank WFNT linked to a column by a young ladeee who held the position that feminine hygiene products were a right, rather than a privilege.

I am aware I may be on dangerous ground here, but I would assert that while the availability of said products is clearly a highly desirable state of affairs, there would be millions of Indian, Asian and African women who might regard food as slightly more essential.

I really don’t think’s it the taboo subject across the board the lady in Frank’s link seems to think it is. That said, I know a fair few blokes who recoil in horror at the subject’s mention and flat out refuse to buy the things, let alone talk about them. I had no problem dropping what I was doing and making a quick trip to the shops on Mrs ex-KD’s behalf when the situation warranted it*.

I am grateful, however, that blokes aren’t subject to this sort of thing, if for no other reason than it would be thrown onto the pile of other competitions that men have with each other. Discussions would be had in pubs about flow size and strength, ‘yeah well that’s nothing, I had a surge on the other week that ruined the carpet’ etc, how many beach towels were required and so on.

Blokes would come to work with buckets and disconnected fire hoses. Co-workers would be routinely glassed. Instead of stoically getting on with it and maybe leaving a hour or so early one afternoon, men would wallow in the process. Units of volume would be written on whiteboards next to the office footy tips.

    Hideous.

*Self-preservation may have played a part. Hell hath no fury etc etc.

  14. I am aware I may be on dangerous ground here, but I would assert that while the availability of said products is clearly a highly desirable state of affairs, there would be millions of Indian, Asian and African women who might regard food as slightly more essential.

I think street shitting might be a bigger problem!

Disclaimer: I vaguely remember s0me years ago, I MAY have watched a bloke somewhere doing standup about male menstruation. I don’t think I pinched his jokes.

On the off chance that I did, I’m claiming them.

Let me reverse my previous moderate opinion of Tusli’s looks. In that Tucker clip, she looks as good as Catherine Zeta-Jones in her prime. Wow. Just wow.

  17. calli

I get the need to supply these products to the homeless and vulnerable. Ladies up my way make up packs of toiletries for both men and women (shaving is an expensive, but selfesteem building thing for men, for instance). Food and shelter are the priorities of course and sometimes basic things are forgotten about.

Sad case last week of someone coming to the centre for food – the poor bugger hadn’t eaten for three days.

As for the lass advertising her charity – the subject matter makes her look hip and edgy and out there. And I note the hat tip to trans and bi and whatevers.

  18. (shaving is an expensive, but selfesteem building thing for men, for instance

    It’s oppressive. How dare you?

    You have stolen my dreams.

  19. Knuckle Dragger

    ‘street shitting’

Up in tropical D-town, Franks, this topic remains one of the delights undiscovered by the wider Australian population.

As Daryl Somers used to say, ‘You’ll never never know if you never never go.’

Or, to use a more recent tourism slogan, ‘CU in the NT’.

  20. Knuckle Dragger

    Agreed, dover.

I would take Tulsi to the picture fillums to see John Wick movies.

  21. cohenite

Trump should approach Tusli for a role in his administration; she looks to be the only demorat who would give him a run amongst his own constituency, ie sane people.

  22. Knuckle Dragger

Can I just say, at the potential risk of gender appropriation, that if I was a ladeee, and that I was being subject to the monthly event and in the workplace or change rooms or whatever, that the last thing I would need at that particular time is a hulking trans bloke with beard and an as-yet unamputated cock approaching me with a view to a) sharing this feminine experience, and b) loaning me a tampon.

  23. feelthebern

Sinc, please ban KD for his post at 2pm.
    He is worse than Hitler.

  24. cohenite

Interesting 2018 study which supports Trump in getting the US out of RoP shitholes while simultaneously trying to stop RoP immigration which would turn the US into a shithole:

But this study must be using old-fashioned definitions of human rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion, when everybody knows the only two human rights that matter these days are freedom of RoP in RoP countries to move to your country so they can enjoy more human rights and the RoP newcomers’ right to feel comfortable in what used to be your country by imposing RoP views of freedom (freedom to be RoP).

  25. Knuckle Dragger

‘shaving is an expensive, but selfesteem building thing for men, for instance’

Earlier this morning on the teev I saw something described as a ‘trans athlete’ wittering away about the current pushback by real chicks disadvantaged by blokes in skirts taking their medals. This one had pink hair, in a well-thought out but failed attempt to disguise it.

‘It’s not about testosterone,’ it rasped, sounding like Joe Cocker. ‘It’s about equality.’

Utterly convinced, I then broke into my smoking hot next door neighbour’s house and stole her undies.

AN IRAQI refugee has appeared in a Brisbane court charged with organising a 2001 people smuggling operation, in which 325 people drowned on their way from Indonesia to Australia.

Only 45 people survived the disastrous journey, when an overcrowded leaky boat, later known as SIEVE X, sank while en route to Christmas Island.

Maythem Kamil Radhi, 43, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, charged with organising the bringing of groups of non-citizens from Indonesia into Australia.

Commonwealth prosecutor Sophie Harburg told the court Radhi had been extradited from New Zealand and had arrived in Brisbane late on Friday night

In some far distant time after when people have been forced to adopt Veganism, the fossil record will show that people were meant to be that way.

There are a number of biological reasons why that is true. Going vegan before the age of 30 is probably going to pop up in a decade or two as having serious consequences. Conversely good evidence to indicate that going vegan after a heart attack has some merit. The stats are intriguing because of consistently lower CVD risk in vegans(20%) but no change in overall mortality.

    Abstract

The mechanisms that extend lifespan in humans are poorly understood. Here we show that extended longevity in humans is associated with a distinct transcriptome signature in the cerebral cortex that is characterized by downregulation of genes related to neural excitation and synaptic function. In Caenorhabditis elegans, neural excitation increases with age and inhibition of excitation globally, or in glutamatergic or cholinergic neurons, increases longevity. Furthermore, longevity is dynamically regulated by the excitatory–inhibitory balance of neural circuits. The transcription factor REST is upregulated in humans with extended longevity and represses excitation-related genes. Notably, REST-deficient mice exhibit increased cortical activity and neuronal excitability during ageing

Euler’s formula came from Euler realising that the Taylor expansion for the exponential function made sense for the complex plane. He knew what the function did on the real (X) axis, and wanted to know what it did to the imaginary (Y) axis. What it does is to wrap it around the unit circle, which is where the trig functions come from. This wouldn’t have surprised him since he could take the square root of both sides of x” = -x to get x’ = ix.

In other words, the beautiful Euler identity comes out of a formula discovered by thought. Incidentally, Egg, complex function theory is used as a language particularly by electrical engineers.

I was mainly thinking about dentition.

That, plus small gut, plus hungry brain, plus need for long chain omega 3’s for the brain and these can’t be obtained from plants. Especially DHA. Our bodies can convert shorts to EPA readily but very low conversion for DHA. DHA is important for preventing inflammation, is a substrate for a neuron growth factor(NPD 1), and a substrate for endcannabinoid synthesis though that may be related to the inflammation aspect because the endocannabinoid network is a critical regulator of inflammation. THC can also calm over excitable nerves hence the above paper John C referred to is interesting because the production of endocannabinoids very much declines with age. However it should be noted that the paper John referred to is linking neural function with Insulin Growth Factor production and many studies highlight how reducing IGF is associated with longevity though I must wonder if excessive neural activity leads to excitatory amino acid toxicity and increased stress response activity.

This is the trouble when I start typing, strings of correlations going nowhere.

Has a Spruce Goose sort of a ring to it.”

No Spruce Goose, Frank. They are already fabricating #4. They have successfully flown the hopper to test the Raptor engine which is the only flight proven FFSC (Full Flow Staged Combustion) engine ever.
As Musk says, switching to Stainless Steel was counter intuitive but the material cost is about 1/50 that of the original carbon fiber and fabrication is quicker, easier and much less critical. I’d love to know who actually did the numbers on that at SpaceX and came up with the idea first.
The other way it isn’t a Spruce Goose is that it is privately funded and progress is extremely rapid. They are using folk who usually build water tanks. Now they are ” fashioning cold refined steel into the dreams of spaceflight”, as the song goes.

Eliud Kipchoge’s sub-two-hour marathon record sparks debate over Nike Vaporfly shoes

Eliud Kipchoge’s feat in breaking marathon’s mythical two-hour barrier has sparked calls for a difficult new conversation — did the shoes he wore provide an unfair advantage?

Kipchoge’s ground-breaking time of one hour, 59 minutes and 40.2 seconds captivated the world, but it was conducted in a carefully stage-managed event in ideal conditions on a “pancake-flat” course in Vienna.

Already the world record holder and Olympic champion, Kipchoge benefitted from a team of 41 elite pacemakers who ran in a V formation and were guided by a laser to identify the ideal position in which to run.

A support team also fed him drinks and nutrition from bikes.

And he wore a specially designed pair of shoes, which critics have said feature a “spring-like mechanism” that aids performance.

The unveiling of Kipchoge’s bespoke Nike shoes in the lead-up to the Vienna event almost attracted as much media exposure as his run itself.

They are a special version of the Nike Vaporfly Next%, which the shoemaker released this year.

The shoes are the upgrade of a previous model, released in 2017, which were the first to include carbon fibre plates in the midsole and promised to improve running performance by 4 per cent.

The five fastest official times in history, including Kipchoge’s world record of 2:01:39 set in September 2018, have all come in the last 12 months by athletes wearing the Nike Vaporfly Next% shoes.

Seven of the top-10 men’s marathon runners of all time, all wearing the shoes, have set their best times in the last year.

Women’s world record holder Brigid Kosgei — who broke Paula Radcliffe’s 16-year-old mark last week, was also wearing the shoes.

Now-retired American runner Ryan Hall, who finished 10th in the marathon at the Beijing Olympics, has called for the athletics world governing body to step in to ensure that runners are not being disadvantaged by not having access to the shoes.

“With all due respect to [Kipchoge] as he is clearly the greatest marathoner of all-time regardless of the shoe he is in [but] when a shoe company puts multiple carbon fibre plates in a shoe with a cushion between the plates, it is no longer a shoe,” Hall wrote on Instagram.

“It’s a spring, and a clear mechanical advantage to anyone not in those shoes.

“I’m just hoping [the International Amateur Athletic Federation, or IAAF] makes sure the upcoming Olympics and [World Marathon Majors] are fair playing fields for athletes of all brands.”

He later clarified his statement, saying he was not trying to take away from Kipchoge’s amazing performances.

“The only reason I posted was simply to state my opinion that shoes need to be regulated with strict rules so that it’s an even playing field for elites across all brands,” he said.

“I’m all about [advancements] in technology that help us run faster. But I don’t think athletes should be losing races because they are in a shoe that doesn’t have a spring-like mechanism in them.

“This isn’t about unreleased prototypes not being available, it’s about mechanical advantage. Other sports have limits they place on the gear — cycling, triathlon, golf. So needs track and field.”

British newspaper The Times reported that a group of athletes had already complained to the IAAF about the shoe, and that the federation had reportedly set up a “working group to consider the issues”.

“The challenge for the IAAF is to find the right balance in the technical rules between encouraging the development and use of new technologies in athletics and the preservation of the fundamental characteristics of the sport: accessibility, universality and fairness,” the IAAF said in a statement.

Interesting how the first sentence doesn’t use technical jargon but the rest of the abstract reads like it was composed by a computer with Asperger’s Syndrome. But at the end of the abstract, we have the inevitable mouse experiment. Why am I not surprised that longevity in humans is poorly understood? I live in a street of 40 houses established in the late 1940’s early 50″s. There are 6 people in the street now over 90 yrs old. All are cogent and out and about every day. They garden, walk dogs and participate in community activities. All are slim and eat regular meals that are home cooked with a good quotient of home grown produce. They enjoy the birds and talk to their neighbors. They are from diverse backgrounds including Austrian, English Dutch and Slavic. Maybe the birds excite the neural circuits.

  189. A review of FEC records for Hill’s 2018 and 2020 campaigns reveals that the staffer was first paid in November 2017, with her payment classified as “salary,” making her an employee. California law doesn’t expressly prohibit consensual sexual relationships between an employer and a direct report, but it’s certainly a murky legal and ethical area. Some legal pundits contend that an employee can’t truly consent to a sexual relationship with the person who signs their paycheck.

Yeah right. Adults can’t consent to fuck their bosses.

  193. Tel

I’m not sure about SpaceX, I have heard a few good things said about their engineering talent.

Tesla is for sure headed to the corporate dustbin, their mistakes are numerous and all of them clear signs of technical and/or management incompetence:

    * Not being able to correctly calculate wear cycling on flash memory drives … this has been understood for at least 20 years … and there’s vast amounts of documentation on it. Besides that, if anyone finds it too difficult you can buy plenty of off the shelf solutions, and a bunch of different shapes and sizes.

    * The Tesla “autopilot” AI that crashes often: four separate incidents resulting in death. I understand that we are talking “driver assist” where the driver keeps hands on the wheel, but that’s obviously stupid from the get-go … because in that case you might as well drive the freaking car … bugger the AI dunce. ALL of the money that went into “autopilot” was wasted AND the money going into various lawsuits also. Management with half a brain would never have gone anywhere near this feature. Turning this on is equivalent to wanting to die, bleeding on the side of the road.

    * Bad charging systems and heat management. In the rush for newspaper headlines they pushed the charging way beyond what it can do. This is NOT innovative, it’s Far Quitted because Lithium batteries are used all over the place and everyone wants a faster charge, so you have a massive industry already carefully probing the balance of fast charge vs overheating and catching fire. Doing something “ballsy” with a technical issue that already has an understood failure margin doesn’t make you clever, it makes you a dickhead … especially when shipping to Joe Public who foolishly trusts people like Musk.

    * Solar panels catching fire: Walmart, Amazon are big names, with deep pockets for some serious lawsuits. Now solar panels are well tested technology, you need to be doing something plumb stupid to set these things ON FIRE FFS! We can go into problems such as price and reliability that are common with solar cells, but many off the shelf solutions have been rolled out all around the world that don’t catch fire.

    * I had one but the wheels fell off … bad mechanical design in the suspension that causes metal fatigue and crack propagation. The Model 3 has been plagued with mechanical problems such as “whompy wheels” that point back to poor quality design, bad engineering, and poor quality control. Yes it can all be fixed, and sure other car manufacturers have gone through rough patches for all the same reasons … but that won’t save Tesla. Some of the things are perhaps trivial like panel gaps but that’s indicative of deeper problems because these days you can buy a $50 toy and there will be NO panel gaps, NONE! Why would you be buying production line cars that give the appearance of being hand made at the local blacksmith? What century is this again?

    * Huge debt. Tesla has survived on generous investors and customers willing to put forward a substantial deposit on purchases because they believe in the idea. This only works for so long, before the generosity dries up. Interest rates are going up, although Trump can jawbone to some extent they can’t stay zero forever. We are due for a bit of a cleanup and the heavily indebted companies will be the ones flushed out.

    * Continuous software updates: an admission that they can’t get anything right. Most manufacturers can update once a year with minor feature changes and give the customer consistency and reliability. That’s because their software is tested BEFORE shipping the car.

    * People believe in “imminent full self drive” cars that will somehow open up a whole new world that Tesla will be out in front of. Newsflash … the industry is at least 50 years out from full self driving AI and I would estimate that fusion reactors are more likely to happen first. Tesla does not have time to sit around waiting for this to happen, and when it does happen it will be some other company that gets there first because Tesla is trying to do too much with too little.

In any decent society all three would be dragged outside and stoned to death.

First you have to listen to all the party sex, then the rows as it goes bad, and finally have all three of them taking turns crying on your shoulder about the other two.
Then you can’t get your problems adjudicated by the courts because they are all full of these idiots.
Pretty soon people decided “fuck this” and just started killing the dirty buggers.

  198. A decent society would not countenance adults being incapable of consent without diminishing their other rights, such as economic and political rights.

They would also be income managed and institutionalised.

I think President Trump should arrange all the world leaders to attend and participate in a live broadcast game show requiring them to compete in 5 round karaoke, 5 rounds on one of those dance game machines so popular with the Asian fraternity, and a freestyle chat with random members of the public.

People at home can cast their votes for who they like and in the Finals (another few weeks of milking the cow) the contestants will be ruled out on a nightly basis until one is left standing.

That person should be made President of the world for a year, they could do a spinoff series of the year of the losers, and then run the competition again.

It’s the sort of thing that made America great.

Geez, the things you miss making a coffee after a Saturday nap.

    The Delmontycon Theory of Debate:

    1. Make unsubstantiated claim in relation to a person. Include extra descriptors, like ‘batshit’.
    2. When asked, refuses to substantiate said claim.
    3. In same sentence, claim the victimhood flag and mention ‘”‘smears'”‘ (with extra quotation marks).
    4. Demand evidence to prove the sky is not green.
    5. Repeat Step 3. This time include personal abuse, the first of the discussion.
    6. When cornered, demand to be left alone despite having started the bunfight in the first place.
    7. Repeat Step 3.
    8. Buy and read Liability Bob’s book.
    9. Repeat Step 3.

‘She is a fuckhead. Like you.
    Now leave me alone.’

egg_, you cannot have read that article correctly.
See last paragraph: “The Van Allen radiation belts returned to normal a few years after Starfish Prime. Nuclear explosions in space never menaced the Apollo astronauts, in large part because in August 1963 the U.S. and the Soviet Union negotiated the Treaty Banning Nuclear Weapon Tests in the Atmosphere, Outer Space, and Under Water.”

The ISS orbits the Earth at about 300 miles and passes through the South Atlantic anomaly. I haven’t heard that the astronauts there are dying of radiation sickness even though they stay for 6 months at a time or longer.

    And her all round flakiness.

She has been consistent in her anti-war position, which is only what all the lefties used to believe in (or at least once used to claim they believed in) but in terms of having thought deeply about the issues … no she is like a spiritual buzzword bingo game with every woo woo word imaginable.

I have a theory that these collective wastes of food and shelter have been around for centuries.

Because the margin for error in a society’s survival was much more slender 500 or more years ago, and that these people were refusing to eat meat and demand everyone else do the same because cow feelz, the normies eventually got the shits on and turfed them into the volcanoes they claimed to care so much about.

Our environmental policies are violent toward the Earth.

    LOL

Our criminal justice system is violent toward people of color.

    Arguably this is justified.

Our economic system is violent toward the poor.

It is. They have Federal payroll taxes of 7.5% (FICA) that reduces job opportunities.

Our entertainment media is violent toward women.

Largely by other women who consume said crap.

Our video games are violent in their effect on the minds of children.

Only if they’re predisposed and mentally ill. Really, they do nothing.

Our military is violent in ways and places where it doesn’t have to be.

    Ways? LOL.

    Places. Good point.

Our media is violent in its knee-jerk shaming and blaming for the sake of a better click rate.

    Well said.

Our hearts are violent as we abandon each other constantly, breeding desperation and insanity.

No, I am an angel. I took JC’s class on escalation and deportment.

And our government is indirectly and directly violent in the countless ways it uses its power to help those who do not need help and to withhold support from those who do.
