Hello Juan; but can we ever say goodbye to several in one week? Ever? Otherwise it’s a junkyard.

You’ve lost me; but no judgments here — it’s a Friday night in the middle of Christmas part season after all. Hope you’re enjoying your evening! 🥂

  8. Knuckle Dragger

    Not many people know this.

During a brief respite from his Saxon campaigns, in 794 AD Charlemagne commissioned a monk from his court – Sirigius – to rewrite the first twelve books of the Old Testament as they were at the time. Certain paper was obtained from his ambassadors to the ME.

He modelled himself on Joshua, and thus the hanging of enemy leaders and kings from trees and the destruction of walls after a successful siege became his trademark. The work was completed just prior to Charlemagne’s coronation as Holy Roman Emperor with the Iron Crown of Lombardy in 800.

300 years later, Frankish knights on the First Crusade returned to the Holy Land and placed the documents – artificially weathered – where they would be found several hundred years after that.

This is why you have to have zero tolerance of the left: bash them:

Left too scared by their own cancel culture
Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun November 25, 2019
Our sick new cancel culture works only because victims lack the guts to call it out — particularly those of the Left, now being eaten by their own revolution. Take Jonathan Biggins and Drew Forsythe, who each year perform a review for the Sydney Theatre Company ridiculing conservatives like me.
Last year they wanted to mock US President Donald Trump, showing him taking tips from the dictators of North Korea and China.
Oops! As they told The Australian last week, they and their two white co-stars were banned from playing the Asian characters themselves for fear of causing racial offence.
So they replaced the Asian dictators with Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, which makes no sense. Why is it racist for a white actor to play an Asian but not an Arab?
This year they again surrendered to the STC’s crazed race rules, hiring Asian-Australian actress Lena Cruz to play North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
But Cruz is from the Philippines. Do all Asians look alike to the STC, or does it think only whites can be racist when pretending to be of another ethnicity?
I wondered why Biggins and Forsythe put up with this hypocrisy, irrationality and censorship. But here’s a telling admission to The Australian: “When indigenous activists shut down Jonathan Biggins’ play Australia Day merely because they didn’t like its title, he was reluctant to push back hard …
“He had no desire to engage in a dispute that provided fodder for Right-wing politicians and commentators.”
Wouldn’t make a stand because it might prove “Right-wing” commentators right? Talk about defending a side and not a principle.
Comedian Wil Anderson seems to me another man of the Left who caved to what he should resist, after he told a joke on the ABC’s Gruen about an Instagram influencer posing as a robot.
Anderson said this “robot” was actually a computer-generated avatar, and joked: “But she identifies as a robot so I will use the term that she prefers.”
Instant triggering of the wilfully sensitive. Two people tweeted complaints — “sad to hear vulnerable trans people’s identity being mocked”, “a sadly common way of mocking trans individuals” — but two was all it took for Anderson to apologise and cut the joke from the show on iview.
He wouldn’t talk to The Australian about it, either. Too scared to prove conservatives right about this cancel culture?

During a brief respite from his Saxon campaigns, in 794 AD Charlemagne commissioned a monk from his court – Sirigius – to rewrite the first twelve books of the Old Testament as they were at the time. Certain paper was obtained from his ambassadors to the ME.

A small, almost trivial detail, but for any amateur geographers: the ‘Saxon campaign’ was conducted nowhere near what we now think of as “Saxony”.

Originally there was an Upper Saxony and a Lower Saxony, the latter still exists by this name as the land of Niedersachsen.

Confusingly, Lower Saxony was to the north bordering the North Sea, while Upper Saxony was to the south and roughly corresponds with modern day Saxony (Freistaat Sachsen) centred on Dresden; but from a perspective of going downhill — from the mountains to the sea — ‘Upper’ and ‘Lower’ made perfect sense.

So, Charlemagne’s Saxon Campaign was fought in Lower Saxony, not Saxony (formerly Upper Saxony); and Frankish knights never campaigned as far east as the River Elbe.

It’s only wiki, Juan, but it’s a concise summary of what would otherwise take pages and pages that on current form we’ll need later for clips of giant trains:

‘In 789, in recognition of his new pagan neighbours, the Slavs, Charlemagne marched an Austrasian-Saxon army across the Elbe into Obotrite territory. The Slavs ultimately submitted, led by their leader Witzin. Charlemagne then accepted the surrender of the Veleti under Dragovit and demanded hostages.

‘He also demanded permission to send missionaries into this pagan region unmolested. The army marched to the Baltic before turning around and marching to the Rhine with no harassment. The tributary Slavs became loyal allies.’

Charlemagne also campaigned against Avars in what is now Hungary, seeking a direct trade route with the Byzantines.

A bet on Donald Trump, who is assured of his party’s nomination, assumes odds vis-á-vis the strongest Democratic challenger. Therefore, it’s a two horse race; we just don’t know the identity of the other horse.

Pleased to report that I attended a certain young military unit’s inaugural dining-in night recently.
The sherries and horse-doovers were refined and everyone dressed properly. We met officers from several local units, and the cadets from this unit. The troops themselves were VERY tidy indeed, formal civvies not mess dress (except for officers and WOs).
Then a particularly loud piper marched in, piping; and seeing no-one can speak when pipes are piping, recovered his breath for a new tune and marched off again, all following to a historied hall-turned-dining-room.
Vice reported to the Mess President, and all were seated. There the Cadets and their officers and the supporting staff from the Army including the Colonel from WA and I think a Brig who is head for Australia were all in turn congratulated, and most of all the Cadets were given respect for their achievements.
Attention was drawn to the Piper. His CO said how much pleasure it gave, and how much work he had put in developing this unit and all reserve and Cadet units in WA, and shared highlights of his service record. He is being moved on to a new job far away. Finally, said Piper’s parents were called forward, and given the chance to unpick his three pips, and replace them with a crown on each shoulder.
What a fine man. My heart fair burst with admiration for him.
We turned attention to the Cadets again. Trophies were inaugurated for the best Marksman; apparently the Cadets are now released from the stupidity where they were not allowed training on weapons. A trophy for Leadership was then awarded, apparently to a very fine leader indeed who has demonstrated initiative and teamwork solidly for two years in the unit.
The Brig made a very fine statement which ended with the note that the Australian Army exists to defend Australia and to advance the nation’s interests; but the Australian Army Cadets exist to make Australia better.
The unit, now two years old, has been formed at St Hilda’s, a girls’ school in Perth.

CFMEU link to Pauline Hanson’s industrial relations trickery

A central Queensland CFMEU official, condemned for his behaviour in a major industrial dispute, incited Pauline Hanson to block the government’s union-busting bill in a betrayal of written assurances of support she gave senior ministers.

Senior government figures continue to vent their fury at the One Nation leader’s 11th-hour decision and have vowed to reintroduce the bill next week, amid warnings from business that its defeat amounts to a green light for union thuggery.

Senator Hanson held meetings with Queensland CFMEU construction division organiser Chris Brodsky, who led the union’s fierce dispute with miner Glencore at Oaky North in the Bowen Basin, which ended in February last year after 230 days.

Then employment minister Michaelia Cash described Mr Brodsky during the dispute as a central figure in “some of the most appalling union behaviour Australians have ever seen”.

Mr Brodsky introduced Senator Hanson to officials at a total of 10 unions in the weeks leading up to Thursday’s vote. She was urged against supporting the Ensuring Integrity Bill that makes it easier to deregister law-breaking unions and their officials.

Senator Hanson’s unexpected vote against the bill on Thursday came despite text-message assurances to senior ministers that she would support it.

She had also given multiple verbal assurances, even on the day the bill was brought on, that she would vote with the government.

Senior government figures declared their fury at Senator Hanson’s “betrayal” in light of her position during the negotiations, unlike independent Jacqui Lambie, who also voted against the bill but had not given impressions she would back the legislation. A senior government source said it was believed to be a “premeditated deception” by Senator Hanson.

    Breaking, from the Oz.

    Not my point. Tovia Singer‘s:

You can see that men and women American servicemen are dying in the Persian Gulf, in Iraq and Afghanistan as we’re speaking right now and terrorists are running over Jewish cars with bulldozers here in Jerusalem. My Bible says that when the Messiah comes, all that is going to come to an end. Not only that, I live directly in front of the Temple Mount. I can look out my window and see Dome of the Rock and I see al-Aqsa – two big Islamic institutions that are sitting there. My Bible says that when the Messiah comes, read Ezekiel 37-48, that there’ll be a temple that will stand there. Not only did Jesus not accomplish any of these things, in fact the opposite occurred after the advent of Christianity. Not only wasn’t there peace but the temple was destroyed and thousands and thousands of Jews were killed. The resurrection of the dead and the knowledge of God did not flourish during the advent of Christianity. The Jews were exiled throughout the Roman empire and the knowledge of God was diminished. Here’s the key: Judaism is about the Bible, what Scripture says. It’s not about Nicene Creed. It’s not about what the Baptist church says. It’s not about Assemblies of God. What is God’s opinion? That’s what I’m quoting.”

People, take a guess. Who do you think will be the D’rat candidate. I still think ti will be High Cheeks even though she’s gone down in the polls. However, if you aggregate numbers with Bernie’s, the aggregate puts them close to the top. Sure, if Bernie doesn’t walk then she won’t win the nomination because the lunatic left would be splitting the vote.

I read another interesting piece a few days suggesting that if there’s no clear winner and the decision goes to the convention where the super delegates vote, the end result could be Kamala Harris as she has received a surprising number of rich D’rats donations and they’ll have a voice.

I’ll still go with High Cheeks as I have no other contender in mind.

    Just to answer Juan’s point,

The two horse race would be which party will the Presidential elect 2020 belong to Republican or Democratic.

  65. JC

    Areff

She could but I think there’s this to consider. Do you think the loons would accept her nomination as the candidate who just parachuted in and didn’t fight the fight like the rest of them? I’m not sure they would. Not sure means just that though. Also, she’s lost twice now.

  66. mh

Hillary hasn’t given up, that’s for sure.

I think she was waiting for the impeachment hearings to play out before making a move.

  67. JC

Also, I think she really wants to run again, but she’s playing games to see if the party would want her in the race. I don’t think she’s going to contest the primaries though and would be hoping for the spot at the convention. I believe that’s the only way she sees herself in the 20 race.

  68. Juan

Biden? I think he’s just a dead man walking.

Biden’s a dead man walking for another reason. No one who has started as the favourite or ‘establishment candidate’ when the Democratic primaries commenced has gone on to win the presidency.

And two states I’d suggest keeping an eye on in November: Iowa and Colorado.

I think she was waiting for the impeachment hearings to play out before making a move.

Sure, but in a different way I think. Look, contesting the primaries maybe too risky for her because she may not end up winning the votes and would be hugely embarrassing. It would lose her status, I think. These days, she can go around from interview to interview making smartarse comments about Trump and that she really won the 16 election. She also gets away with it because she’s careful on which programs and interviews she appears.

Imagine what would happen to her status if she contested the primaries and lost out bigly. I reckon she sees it as too much of a risk in the after life.

Crooked would make herself very available in a brokered convention.

Knuckle Dragger…How does one crusade for inclusiveness?…Lay siege with trebuchets and cannon to the Savage Club, or to Fernwood gyms?

    Big hugs too.

    And Neil Diamond.

If she’s going to contest the primaries, we will hear about it soon. California:

US President: Nomination Paper Period for Presidential Candidates not Selected by the Secretary of State Nov 4 – Dec 13, 2019 If I’m reading it right, it means she has until Dec 13 to sign up for California.

I’d guess NY would be around the same time too.

These would be two key states for Crooked because I’m guessing she’s very popular there.

I thought Harris was quite hot, but she’s looking a little haggard now.

Mayor Willie Brown would have had her while she was still in her prime. The old goat.

    Dude!

Will Brown has been all over it. Please, show a little taste.

    And Trump’s not a loser.

If not Hillary, who? The field of dwarfs will have smashed each other rotten by the time of the convention.

Bloomberg, maybe, standing tall on his wallet. But he’s a Heebroo, and while that might win him Florida by a neck, I don’t see a Son of Abraham winning favour in flyover country — especially among those who like sugary sodas.

Bernie? Nah, his appeal was that he wasn’t Hillary. He won’t have another delegates if she drops in late.

Cheekbones? I think she’s thoroughly stuffed, due to her costings and the fact that, if you’re Joe Lunchpail, she reminds you of the Civics teacher who wants to lecture you about your son’s masculinist misbehaviour in class.

Another black guy, this one from Jersey, who thinks he’s a gladiator? He’s no silver-tongued Obama and, unlike the unthreatening Barack in his Mom jeans, he looks like an escapee from Mandingo.

So that leaves Harris and the minnows.

I reckon it’s a late starter. Go back an look at 1956: strong GOP president, field of wanna-bes jostling to take him on. The Dems were so frantic to field someone, anyone, warm-blooded and sentient they tried to conscript various captains of industry. Frank Pace of General Dynamics almost ran but thought better of it.

and the obvious late starter is Hillary.

Love that dude. He used to have a show on his own TV station.

She ran in 56 too? 🙂

the ’56 reference was just to suggest a mirror on the current climate.

I reckon you’re right. She swans into a hopeless convention like Lady Muck and her agents start chanting ‘Draft Her! Draft Her!’

  89. JC

Lol. They just dumped her in the van like a carcass.

Trump’s tweets will be an absolute scream. Can you imagine his tweets during the D’rat convention?

    Nota, thought something was wrong.

    Will do.

I’m still confused by the point Juan was making about Ezekiel.

Juan, Instagram link broken. Can someone give me the gist?

Still in Cuzco, going to Sacred Valley today. All my travelling companions sick as dogs because altitude. All I have had is a slight headache and weird deja vu feeling. Needless to say they’re annoyed with me. Especially as I came to breakfast singing. 😁
