We are the most virtuous country in the world

Or something ….

TO CONTINUE: I can see it. I’m sorry if it doesn’t come up on some screens. I wasn’t suggesting we should all learn to code.

The heading is “World Wide Coal Plants”.

The next seven lines mention how many coal-powered plants there are in different countries and how many they intend to build. The second last states, “China has 2363 plants building 1171 more – total 3534”.

The final line of the chart says, “Australia is planning to shut down its remaining 6 plants in order to SAVE the World”.

Perhaps I should have said “We are oh so self-sacrificing” rather than virtuous, or something.

    Something is broken

    Australia ?

It is not the first such scheme and won’t be the last. The snake oil salesmen keep coming.
The question is whether or not Steve Kates and his colleagues can save Australia from this menace. They have had little success with renewable energy with massive support state and federal and usually from both sides of politics. They have had little success with labor market reform. So the future does not look good does it.

Normally, the problem at the Cat is too much information, but I’ll make an exception for you, Steve: which meme were you thinking when you wrote “We are the most virtuous country in the world”? In our post-truth world where the news media that’s supposed to be our eyes and ears instead specialises in disinformation, I have no idea what brain fart you are referring to.

    I expect it’s a Content-ID Base64 encoded string with missing separators.
Can we access the server-embedded image?

    Or its the Nuclear codes

  13. Colonel Crispin Berka

    I’d guess…
    1) the image was emailed to him at his Gmail account,
    2) he just copied the portion of the email with the image in it,
2a) which then copied as two alternative clipboard formats, one plain text and one graphical/rich text, and
    3) then pasted it into the WordPress blog text which only accepts the text format.
3a) So the internal content-ID of the original multiformat email attachment ends up being the text. (or maybe that’s the hyperlink to Gmail’s attachment preview server.)

Probably should have saved the attached image, then uploaded the image to WordPress, then inserting a link to the uploaded image.

And the Greenleftians, cheered on by the ABC, want Australian coal exports to China and elsewhere to be counted against Australia’s emissions, not China’s and others.

  15. Nighthawk the Elder

    Thanks bemused.

I came up with the same result just by googling World Wide Coal Plants and forget about code.

Although when I did try the code, I kept getting HRC, HRC, HRC in a infinite loop. Maybe Mr Johnson might be onto something.

    Yes.

I had exactly this discussion in Germany last year.

Australia will never be considered virtuous, so just stop even trying.

    Facts are irrelevant.

NZ and Canada do smug so much better. Europe has exported its heavy industry to China. USA has California and NYC.

Everywhere else is beautiful brown people and beyond reproach.
