“Your First Time” – from down under

It is disappointing that the Americans insist on giving credit for the conception behind the “Your First Time” ads directed at young women voters to the Russian President none other than Vladimir Putin when the credit really should go to Sarah Hanson-Young from our very own Australian Green Party. This is from the 2010 Australian election and it is the same idea right down to putting it under the heading, “Your First Time”, the exact same name used in the American Democrat ad.

We can thus see the idea has travelled from the Green Party in Australia to the Democrats in the US, via the election ad for the former head of the KGB as President of Russia. The ad has thus shown up on three different continents, as wide apart as one could possibly travel, but based on the usual empty rhetoric of the deep left.

The deep left always targets the shallow and uninformed who are clueless about the implications of voting for such people. Since the media is itself part of the deep left it does not so much get targeted as does the targeting. But here we have a series of ads directed at the shallow and uninformed – in this case women young enough to be voting for the first time. The world is crashing around our heads, the economy is ruining their very own futures, foreign relations are in massive disrepair with a genuinely misogynist jihad on the rise. But in the US young women are being asked to vote on the narrowest imaginable series of issues that are in no way whatsoever under any likelihood to be changed irrespective of who is elected president, these being the availability of free birth control and abortion virtually on demand.

But never mind all that. What I am raising here is a matter for national pride. These are ads that have had their origin right here in Australia. We have been able to influence such giants in the world as Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama. And if you would like to see the full details of the genealogy of this descent from SH-Y to BHO perhaps via VP, you can read the full article here at Quadrant Online.

Some additional notes: Daddy Dave has advised that some of the irregular readers who have been guided to this post from Powerline may not have appreciated the ironical intent of the text both here and at Quadrant Online. I can see his point. It’s too late now anyway since my 24 hours on the Powerline Picks has now ended but it was uncommonly exciting to have seen it there. And I was aware that it is possible to read the original post – although less so than at Quadrant Online which was the the next link in the chain) – as showing genuine pride in such idiocy but I didn’t really think it mattered. The bloggers at Powerline could obviously see what I was getting at but what I thought would be interesting was for the Americans to recognise that Obama’s campaign team had plagiarised the ads, merely changing the content but stealing the theme. To say that the ads had been plagiarised from Putin was interesting in a pallid sort of way but since the text was in Russian the parallel was less obvious. To see the Australian original ought to have been astonishing.

Moreover, today we had some Russian friends over to the house and they translated the text on the top line of Putin’s ad and it really is the Russian for “Your First Time”! Well then, it is extraordinary. The Russians first and then Obama second really have taken up the same theme and stolen it from Sarah Hanson-Young. And it was only here on Catallaxy in Australia that this was recognised, in a progression when I first put up the original post, then when Token spotted the parallel with SH-Y and finally when the Putin ad was spotted by Infidel Tiger. It’s why reading blogsites like this can be far more interesting than just picking up the paper or watching the news because of the way in which it is interactive. And if there are people who have read the blog and didn’t see that it was not meant to be read straight but was specifically designed to contain a full measure of ironic intent, well that’s just the way it will have to be.

Check out the look on her gazing at Bob.

    Even creepier than normal.

As she was elected in 2007, I assume she will be up for re-election next election.

    South Australia do your duty.

  4. Nanuestalker

Too right Jupes, that completely creeped me out!

If the Americans insist on giving Putin credit, we’ll be forced to invade. I don’t see any other option.

Bloody hell. The ick-o-meter redlined hard. Damn thing’s now totally fried.

Lol, yeah. Anyone who disagrees with the hard right tosh at Catallaxy must be “shallow and uninformed”. Arrogant idiots.

Lol, yeah. Anyone who disagrees with the hard right tosh at Catallaxy must be “shallow and uninformed”. Arrogant idiots.

Which of course includes the majority of scientists and economists. You heard it here first: these two demographics are stupid and ignorant. Only alpha males come here, the are the real heroes who will save the world Jeremy. Never mind the fact that the the shallow and uninformed seem pretty good at beating the ass of these alpha males not only in science and economics but also in elections, the media, technology … . Which means that these alpha males are omegas.

    You’ve beclowned yourself again.

On Thursday night, at a working class bar in Bayonne, N.J., Reagan said, “I know what it’s like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself, and I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great.”

That’s a joke told by an old bloke. NOT an election ad told by a sluttish looking young woman.

What do you think Obama’s daughters think of that ad?

  14. Rabz

Oh joy – we’ve been graced with the presence of the chinless, cat loving divorcee who’s also a very learned barrasite!

How’s lavalife been treating you, m’lud?

  15. SteveC

sluttish looking“? How old are you?

    How old are you?

    Irrelevant.

    Unsubtle tatts = slut.

Anyone who disagrees with the hard right tosh at Catallaxy

What are you talking about? Steve just posted a youtube of a Greens ad, which is about as left-wing as you can get.
We’re all very proud that the Greens have exported something.

  18. dd

hey cmon rabz, let’s not get personal.

  19. Anne

    How nauseating!

Your first time should be with someone special…a fifty year old black guy…

Lol, yeah. Anyone who disagrees with the hard right tosh at Catallaxy must be “shallow and uninformed”. Arrogant idiots.

The same gormless dickhead was boosting the NBN as “da best thing evah” without regards to costs, like a 15 year old kid who wants more porn.

  21. Gab

The left are all in a tizz over it.

What Reagan was trying to do in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio was to harvest usually Democratic blue-collar votes — the consistent target of his personal campaigning in the Great Lakes states. Whenever he is near voters who might possibly be Democrats, Reagan likes to remind them that he came from that side of the political tracks.

On Thursday night, at a working class bar in Bayonne, N.J., Reagan said, “I know what it’s like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself, and I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great.”

And that was it. A one-liner in a bar that was reported by a newspaper. Mind you, nothing else was said about. Was it really sexual nuance back in 1980?

  22. C.L.

Liberal women in the US – many black – trash Obama’s offensive ‘first time’ gaffe.

  23. .

That is not a sexual metaphor, for a man. I’d hate to tell lefties but if you’re a man and sex hurts, your parts are malfunctioning. Seek medical advice.

I’m sure a “working class bar” is where plenty of left wing hipster chicks who are vegan, support gay rights, are for cap and trade etc hang out too…I’m sure Reagan couldn’t of possibly been talking literally to men in that bar…

When I was Lena Dunham’s age the feminists motto was Biology is not Destiny. Today the motto appears to be I am my Vagina and nothing else. How sad.

  25. Carpe Jugulum

    Arrogant idiots.

Dear dear Jeremy, why do you transfer your sad existance to us?

    It is moments like this i give you the sage advice a CPOQMG once gave me;

I think there is a life message for you there.

Dead Soul’s spelling and grammar seem… uncharacteristic. He was alone with that dog.

  29. wreckage

Pretty sure Dead Soul used to know the very, very different significance of “beta” and “omega”. He must be out of sorts. Actually, that doesn’t sound very much like him at all.

Happy to be considered an “omega male” myself.

  30. Ken

With all due respect, as an American, I have a hard time putting “giants in the world” and “Obama” in the same sentence.

Reagan’s comment had nothing to do with sex – I remember him saying it. It WAS a big deal for lifelong Democrats to vote for a Republican. Plus, he needed to give them the “I was like you – I did it and I lived to tell”. I don’t recall Reagan ever making any sort of sexual-innuendo or even put-down: that was part of his style. He just “never went there”.

  31. Ken

Having plenty of scientist friends – yes, the average scientist is just as shortsighted, greedy, money-grubbing, insecure as everyone else.

At least in the US, only about 5% of grants are ever awarded, so it becomes highly political. Friends of mine who do environmental research say that it became clear years ago that there was always money available to prove AGW existed, and none to prove that it didn’t, so that’s what they did (even if they didn’t believe it, they still had to eat).

And of course if there *is* AGW (or at least people believe it exists), then you get lots of interviews with politicians, on the TV, etc. Nothing will get you anonymity faster than saying “Umm, actually, there’s not a problem – you can get on with your daily affairs”.

  32. Ken

And as far as economists knowing what they’re doing – would you say the world economy the last decade has been doing great? 🙂

  33. enkidu

“What I am raising here is a matter for national pride.”

Why on earth would you feel pride over ownership of this tripe? Had a Canuckistani leftie said this I would feel embarrassed, and take pains to disassociate myself from it. Voting for an incumbent leftie is like [OTT. Sinc]

It is disappointing that the Americans insist on giving credit.. BLAH…

Credit? For that creepy pile of manure? I’d be DISTANCING myself, personally.

Sure 18 year old virgins make sure your first time is with a 51 year old man. Great message.

  39. But here we have a series of ads directed at the shallow and uninformed – in this case women young enough to be voting for the first time.

    Breathtaking!
Best example of unconscious sexism I’ve seen in a long time. My daughters aren’t impressed – and I’d assume nor are the female students of RMIT.
Soon you’ll be arguing against universal suffrage.

  40. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

    Only alpha males come here

Now DS you know that is not true. 🙂

You must be feeling a bit out of sorts, as my sainted mother used to say. Another of her folk wisdoms: I’ve got the hump.

Happens to everyone. But why give little twerps like Jeremy ammunition to be a nuisance?

  41. Sinclair Davidson

My daughters aren’t impressed – and I’d assume nor are the female students of RMIT.

A man telling us what women think – love it.

Definitely an election winning strategy for him. Not.

  44. Fleeced

“sluttish looking“? How old are you?

    Meet Lena Dunham:

Lena Dunham is the creator of Girls, the HBO series that features the pear-shaped 26-year-old consistently showing off her naked body. She’s also the girl who was featured in the opening of the 2012 Emmys seated naked on a toilet while munching cake

No, not a slut at all…

  45. Fleeced

She shares the same surname as Obama’s mother – another slut.

Can you imagine if Romney’s mother had nudie pics floating around?

  46. JC

The Kenyan’s ma had a great body in her youth, Fleeced.

Romney’s ma was an aspiring hollywood starlet at one time. True.

  47. big dumb fu

I don’t always vote, but when I do I take the advice of plain looking naked girls eating cake on the toilet.

  48. JC

Lets just hope his politics have changed. Fingers crossed.

In 1970, Republican party bosses nominated Mitt Romney’s mother Lenore for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. Lenore was anti-Vietnam war, reluctantly in favor of legalizing abortion (at the time, a federal crime), pro-environment, and pro-national health care. Her 23-year old son worked tirelessly for her campaign, more than he had ever worked for his father. Lenore’s ideas, and her approach to politics and people, seems to have influenced her son the most.

Lenore Romney’s senate nomination was partly a result of Republican insider politics. George Romney, former Michigan governor, and at one time, dominating front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, was serving unhappily in the Nixon Administration as Secretary of Housing & Urban Development and Nixon wanted him out. Instead of running himself, George Romney decided that his wife would make the better candidate.

After a contentious Republican primary, Lenore became Michigan’s first female candidate for national office. If elected, she would have been the third woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.

  49. @Sinc
No – a man pointing out that Kates is sexist – stating the bleeding obvious. The fact that you’re prepared to defend it says a great deal about your corrupt view of the worth of 50% of the population.

  50. JC

Fuck off numbers, you moralizing sanctimonious spud peeler.

  51. boy on a bike

Here’s another parody – by Julie Borowski. It’s quite good.

  52. Gab

hahaha! That’s excellent, BOAB. Too many lines too good.

  53. Mick Gold Coast QLD

“Here’s another parody – by Julie Borowski. It’s quite good.”

That, boy on a bike, is laugh out loud funny! That young lady nails it and the dumb blonde pose at the end is just fabulous.

  54. SteveC

Fleeced, did you get that from Donald Trump?

  55. Fleeced

Fleeced, did you get that from Donald Trump?

Afraid to believe your “lying eyes”, Steve?

  56. moralizing

You’ve got to be kidding – waste of time in this bog. For the usual suspects who post here, if you can’t eat it, drink it, or f**k it, it doesn’t exist.

  57. Rococo Liberal

God, I’m sick of intellectual pygmies yelling ‘sexist’ when they are losing a debate or don’t want to have one.

I think it’s time for us men to revel in the title of ‘sexist.’ We hasve to stop this new puritanism in the bud. Pronouncements should be judged on whether they are correct or incorrect. it would seem that people from the left are so worried that if I am allowed to tell an anti-islamic joke, somehow that will lead to murder of mohammedans everywhere and make me an oppressor. Bloody folk-marxists!

  58. candy

if Donald Trump is releasing pictures of Obama’s mother porn pics and other information about his marriage or soemthing, it’ll only serve to take a few points off Mr Romney,
as it’s akin to the ALP practices and Labor up here especially who almost destroyed themselves saying things like that C. Newman would soon be in jail etc.

  59. Dangph

especially for a vegan, they’re usually pretty thin

    Sarah Peak-Hyphen isn’t a vegan, she’s a vegetarian.

(Old joke: How do you know if someone is a vegan?

Don’t worry, they’ll fucking tell you!)

  60. Fleeced

pics are already out, candy – nothing to do with trump

  61. SteveC

fleeced, I chose Trump because he is the most well known buffoon to go for the “mysteries surrounding Obama’s birth”. If you also follow those wacky theories then you are equally a buffoon. Here’s a question for you, was Obama born in Kenya to Obama senior, or is he the son of Frank Marshall Davis?

  62. entropy

Still gutter politics though. SO likely to backfire a conspiracist would suspect the dens put them out.

  63. @ Rococo Liberal
    There there – tanty over?
Rather than the term “sexist” (since it hurts your tender sensibilities) I’ll substitute “thick”.
Anyone generalising the behaviour of one segment of the population in that fashion is either sexist or thick. You chose. In the meantime, I reserve the right to call it when I see it.

  64. Fleeced

If you also follow those wacky theories then you are equally a buffoon

What do his mum’s nudie pics have to do with his birth?

No mysteries here: Here are the pics.

Here’s a question for you, was Obama born in Kenya to Obama senior, or is he the son of Frank Marshall Davis?

Have you stopped beating your wife?

  65. SteveC

Um, fleeced if you share you email address, I’ve got a contact in Nigeria who needs to get 100 million dollars out of the country, and you can help him.

  66. SteveC

The rewarding thing about fleeced’s contribution above is that it will forevere link Catallaxy with the lunar right conspiracy theorsists in web searches.

  67. JC

fleeced, I chose Trump because he is the most well known buffoon to go for the “mysteries surrounding Obama’s birth”. If you also follow those wacky theories then you are equally a buffoon. Here’s a question for you, was Obama born in Kenya to Obama senior,

Well actually the Kenyan was officially the very first birther having informed/lied to his publisher that he was born in Kenyan. So why take it out on Trump or even Fleeced as it’s not their fault the Kenyan lied to his publisher so that he could portray an exotic background instead of being born in the US.

  68. Fleeced

The only person that’s mentioned any conspiracies Steve, is you. The photos I linked to have been around for years – the conspiracy theory (about Obama’s “real father”) you try to impose over their existence is much more recent.

Snopes had the authenticity of the photos listed as “undermined” back in 2009, but has since scrubbed their site of any mention of them.

  69. JC

    This is fucking hilarious.

We’ve always known that the original birthers were Democrats. Phillip Berg, a disgruntled Hillary supporter, filed the first lawsuit demanding that Obama produce his mysterious birth certificate. And now with the blockbuster news from Breitbart.com, we learn that Obama himself was the very first Obama birther.
It turns out that Obama claimed he was Kenya-born before he claimed he was Hawaii-born.
“The great thing about irony,” writes David Foster Wallace, “is that it splits things apart, gets up above them so we can see the flaws and hypocrisies[.]”
Breitbart News obtained a 1991 promotional booklet put together by Obama’s literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which lists the then-Harvard Law grad as “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”
The promotional booklet continues with Obama’s biography:

Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii. The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation. He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White [the title was changed].
Former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill, Ralph Nader, sports stars Joe Montana and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and 89 other clients also appear with their respective biographies in the 36-page booklet.

Breitbart News spoke with Edward Acton of Acton & Dystel, who indicated that the non-athletes were “probably” approached “to approve the text as presented.” Apparently, the agency felt the need to at least get the approval of its more scholarly clients. Obama, of course, was president of the Harvard Law Review. Translation: Obama either wrote or approved his write-up.
In the publishing world, it’s commonplace for authors to control their own bios. In the unlikely scenario that Obama didn’t approve the text, would the agency have continued to list Obama as Kenya-born until 2007 on its website? Well, it did, and no one corrected the record until Obama’s presidential aspirations became apparent.

    The lunar right, Steve?

You know who pioneered all the dirt-throwing about Obama?

    The Clintons.

  71. JC

Fleeced is correct, SteveC. Stop acting like Kimberly’s, the plastic sex doll loving, idiot.

Trump had nothing to do with those pics as they’ve been around since 2009 which is when I first saw them too.

  72. C.L.

Are those nudie pics for real?

Isn’t there some debate about whether that’s really her?

  73. JC

    The lunar right, Steve?

You know who pioneered all the dirt-throwing about Obama?

    The Clintons.

that’s true, CL. But I also think it is important to note that the Kenyan himself was a pioneering birther.

It’s a funny old world when you have leftwing trolls like SteveC and the Spudpeeler accusing people of making up conspiracy theories about the Kenyan as he (the Kenyan) was making up bullshit that he was born in Kenya when he wanted to create an exotic image of himself rather than plain old Hawaii.

  74. JC

We don’ t really know if they are real, as the Kenyan won’t say.

I’m with Snopes until they got rid of them. They’re undetermined.

  75. JC

The rewarding thing about fleeced’s contribution above is that it will forevere link Catallaxy with the lunar right conspiracy theorsists in web searches.

Spite, venom and envy. The underpinning of the Western left on exhibit with SteveC Kimberly plastic sex doll lover.

  76. dd

Steve K, you might have to add a disclaimer that you’re being sarcastic about the national pride bit, and Obama being a giant. Some of our first-time American visitors seem to be taking you at face value.

  77. sdog

It is disappointing that the Americans insist on giving credit for the conception behind the “Your First Time” ads

Well for better or for worse, you’ve managed to rectify that

  78. SteveC

It’s fairly obvious the photos are not for real (well they are real photos, but there is no evidence whatsoever they are Ann Dunham). And to continue to post them puts you in the same class as the lowlifes that originally posted them.

People who believe that stuff live in an alternative universe along with Donald Trump. Have a look at “Dreams from my real father” if you want to see how loopy the pushers of the photos are.
I thought you were brighter than that, JC. But ot appears I was mistaken.

Do you know where the photos were purported to have been taken?

  79. SteveC

    Here you go:
    http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com.au/2008/10/naughty-obama-mamma.html
As I say, if you believe that stuff, then my contact with the large buckets of cash in Nigeria is keen to talk to you.

  80. dover_beach

SteveC, what are your thoughts on the President’s failure to provide assistance to US personnel in Benghazi while under attack after repeated requests for assistance, which ensured the deaths of Woods and Doherty and probably Stevens?

  81. SteveC

You go first d-b, what are your thoughts on the photos posted by Fleeced and given lukewarm support by JC and CL?

  82. SteveC, Americans obviously didn’t care as much about those photos as you do – since they were circulating before the 2008 election and obviously made not a jot of difference.

I’m a little concerned as to why you’re so fixated on them though, to tell the truth. Does Kimberly know about this?

  83. dover_beach

Sorry, but I take the deaths of an Ambassador, a foreign service officer, and the men tasked with their protection, the failure to answer repeated requests for assistance, and the subsequent dissembling and lies of this President and his Administration more seriously, than your offended sensibility.

  84. jupes

…subsequent dissembling and lies of this President …

If Obama wins the election and, despite the cover up, it is subsequently found that HE was the one who gave the order not to send help to Libya on 9/11, then he will be forced to resign in disgrace.

    Step forward President Biden!

Someone should make that clear to the American public.

  85. Abu Chowdah

C-man, thanks for the skin photos of Barack’s baby momma. Awesome find.

  87. Cold-Hands

The snopes article on the purported Ann Dunham Obama Soetero pictures initially stated that the photos were of Marcy Moore, an artiste known to have posed for similar saucy photos. However, following comparisons by connoisseurs of the female form, they withdrew this statement and left the matter as undetermined. They certainly are not of Marcy Moore. The linked article contains unsubstantiated claims of when and where the pics were shot, but short of someone actually owning up to taking them and having the negatives, the truth will never be known.
