  1. Leigh Lowe says:

Bowen Northern Australia has enormous potential

    Jesus!
They didn’t know where NT was until someone looked it up to find out where to send Trish Crossin’s retirement card.

  2. Lucie says:

Didn’t know that one. Very nice.

  3. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Q from Cynthia – gonski question.

  4. dd says:

correction, 15 billion a year. My comment still stands. I’m staggered at the cost.

  5. Motelier says:

    Sorry I missed that question

    Was it about Gonski

  6. Docket62 says:

Gonski question: How are you going to fund the last two years of Gonski?

Answer: who the fuck cares. Abandon this shit after the election

  7. nilk, Iron Bogan says:

Indeed, Motelier. I heard him ask that, too.

As for Bowen talking about… ‘it’s the right thing to do’, so was loosening up the border laws and providing the incentive for over a thousand people to die in their attempt to get here.

  8. Bolter says:

We have no idea how to pay for NDIS or Gonski

  9. calli says:

Tracey…same thought watching Bowen…shame. How come he has none?

  10. Motelier says:

They didn’t know where NT was until someone looked it up to find out where to send Trish Crossin’s retirement card.

Now my wine has been spilt stop it now

  11. incoherent rambler says:

    Carpe – is 7-e ok?

  12. Infidel Tiger says:

Bowen should just make shit up*. He’s never going to be Treasurer.

    * haha! He is!

  13. Docket62 says:

Bowen attacks the men, ‘they’ wouldn’t support it… Blah blah blah

Snow cone steps in and slaps Bowen!

Bowen, “we’ve laid out the funding”. And REFUSES to answer!

  14. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Bowen goes the Abbott666, Hockey pulls him up.

Where is the money coming from.

    Bowen tries ‘the children’ meme.

    The man is a dickhead.

  15. Leigh Lowe says:

What? The NDIS costs 50 billion dollars a year? That’s $750 per Austrralian resident, per year! Holy mackeral. Ballpark that’s gotta be at least a thousand dollars per taxpayer.
Does disability really cost that much? Seriously?

It does when every indolent junkie with a chronic work allergy gets on to it.

  16. Motelier says:

    bugger long script error here
    brb

  17. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

    Carpe – is 7-e ok?

    Works for me.

  18. They didn’t know where NT was until someone looked it up to find out where to send Trish Crossin’s retirement card.

Now my wine has been spilt stop it now

Near bit off & swallowed the first inch of a half corona myself…..

  19. Docket62 says:

Bowen is fucked. Been called out, and found wanting! Crowd want blood

  20. Leo G says:

    Bowen’s number is up?

  21. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

From the crowd – “show us your number”

    Bowen blushes

  22. calli says:

Give us the number! From the floor…in all seriousness…but of course we are running out of time!

  23. Infidel Tiger says:

    ABC privatisation!

  24. Motelier says:

    Bowen blushes

You have got to be kidding me

  25. Bolter says:

You would have to pay people to take the ABC

  26. Mike of Marion says:

    Joe Hockey saves the ABC!!!!

  27. nilk, Iron Bogan says:

SnowCone hammering Bowen on where the money for the NDIS is coming from.

Bowen blathers, waffles and says, oh, it’s with the States.

SnowCone: you know the figure, can you tell us what it is? (on costings)

It’s in the plans, we’ve got a 6 year plan.

SnowCone: but what are the figures.

Audience calling out: tell us how much?

SnowCone puts the kybosh and throws to a vid q. Is the Coalition considering selling the ABC?

Hockey: it doesn’t make any money, so no it’s not worth selling.

SnowCone: while we’re on it, is the ABC in line for cuts?

Hockey: is there any waste in the ABC, Tony?

Snowcone: if you’re looking for waste, don’t look here.

  28. Motelier says:

Hockey asks the most important question

Is the any waste in the ABC?

  29. Motelier says:

    and the last question is

  30. Megan says:

Have been led astray by builder popping by with bathroom catalogues. Too worn out by decision making to read or even turn on the last two minutes. Cats of the Q&A thread, I once again salute you for your service.

  31. Mike of Marion says:

ABC – if there is waste, we will cut it!!

  32. Docket62 says:

Here we go. The 457 question.

  33. Infidel Tiger says:

    ABC cuts are certainty.

    I will sleep well tonight.

  34. Motelier says:

    ohhhhh a manufacturing question

    bowen will shrivel here

  35. Bolter says:

A real question at last about manufacturing.

  36. Megan says:

Is the any waste in the ABC?

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  37. nilk, Iron Bogan says:

Q: Western Sinny has lost a lot of industry to overseas. What incentives can the gov’t provide for big companies to invest there and thence help blue collar workers get jobs?

[I thought there was a booming trade in handguns and rebirthed cars]

  38. Motelier says:

    That came from an infiltrator

  39. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Last question – loss of many jobs in W/Syd what incentives can the gov’t give for manufacturing in W/Syd.

Give them no incentives if an aspiring businessman or businesswoman wants to start a business why the fvk should i subsidise it.

  40. Motelier says:

Reduce the costs of doing business in Australia

    Bowen replies with

    Dribble

  41. incoherent rambler says:

Is the any waste in the ABC?

“waste” aka sh1t. Well yes, there are sh1t stenographers, sh1t Q&A moderators ….

  42. SnowCone: while we’re on it, is the ABC in line for cuts?
Hockey: is there any waste in the ABC, Tony?

    Rolled Gold!
Even my dog would be able to translate that into English!

  43. Motelier says:

Bowen promises our money to support manufacturing

    FMD

  44. Docket62 says:

Bowen sticks the smug face on… R&D (coz that pays well!). Propping up the bullshit car industry (a dying dog) …..

    Joe: shivs the bastard.

  45. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Hockey gives bowen a lesson in business 101.

  46. incoherent rambler says:

Did I mention sh1t for brains?

  47. Septimus says:

Bowen has morphed into Jaymes Diaz?

  48. Motelier says:

Can I get public money to support tourism?

hmmmmmmmm that is a big no

  49. John Mc says:

    Joe has come so far!!

  50. nilk, Iron Bogan says:

Bowen: that’s a very important question. We need to invest in R&D, and we have innovation hubs, and work with industry, which we’re doing with the car manufacturers. (Which Joe opposes).

Joe points out the new tax on the car industry. LAb don’t understand that if you kill demand for a product then the less chance for a sustainable market. We need to cut the cost of doing business, and the biggest cost is the carbon tax.

Bowen: you’re wrong. Since the carbon price came in we’ve seen new job growth. You are just full of bluff and bluster and hot air.

LOL I wonder what he really wanted to say.

  51. Motelier says:

Bowen tries to pass the business 101 exam and fails again

  52. Motelier says:

    one minute each

    this should be good

  53. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Hockey did well, i like the cut of his jib.

  54. Infidel Tiger says:

    Not bad, Joe.

Sickening that you won’t privatise or raze the ABC, but hopefully you are lying.

  55. Leigh Lowe says:

Q: Western Sinny has lost a lot of jobs to overseas

Possibly true, but it is a Syrian civil war.
The logistics of bringing it here would be horrendous.

  56. Tracey says:

Neither are economic geniuses, but in a battle between a sensible adult and a whining, petulant socialist schoolboy I’ll take the adult thanks.

  57. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

Bowen gets his final pitch – we need to work with unions (thats it the man is a retard)

  58. Docket62 says:

    Bowen sums up

    Aurevoir, farewell, aufweidersehen, goodbye

  59. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

    Aurevoir, farewell, aufweidersehen, goodbye

You bastard, now i have an earworm.

  60. Not bad, Joe.
Sickening that you won’t privatise or raze the ABC, but hopefully you are lying.

    IT, scroll up to:

SnowCone: while we’re on it, is the ABC in line for cuts?
Hockey: is there any waste in the ABC, Tony?

    Feel better now?

  61. Docket62 says:

joe squares up and drops a coat hanger tackle on Bowen.

  62. John Mc says:

    Good, solid closer from Joe.

  63. Mike of Marion says:

    great summary Joe

  64. Motelier says:

    Aurevoir, farewell, aufweidersehen, goodbye

Well that sums it up for Bowen

Hockey leaves on a real positive note

  65. Motelier says:

Oh goody….(Pieman/Shorty) Shorten is on next week………..I wonder what he will agree with?

  66. Tracey says:

Kelly O’Dwyer and Nick Cater next week, should be good value.

  67. Tasch2 says:

Joe came off as second rate

  68. nilk, Iron Bogan says:

Possibly true, but it is a Syrian civil war.
The logistics of bringing it here would be horrendous.

Leigh you win the comment of the thread. Hahahahaha!

  69. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

OK troops Bowen Bullshit Tombola finishes at 61.

FMD, even i’m suprised at that.

The prize will jackpot to next weeks Interruption Lotto draw.

  70. YT says:

Is it just me or did Joe look like he wanted to put ramhis fist down Bowens throat?

  71. Leigh Lowe says:

SnowCone: while we’re on it, is the ABC in line for cuts?
Hockey: is there any waste in the ABC, Tony?

Mohamed Ali was the only bloke who could get away with dancing out to centre ring with his hands down around his hips and not cop one flush.
    Snowcone ain’t no Mohamed Ali.

Seriously though, if someone from News asked a similar question, Snowcone would be howling “conflict of interest”.

  72. Docket62 says:

Joe Hockey looks like future PM material. With Tony running the first term and second term, maybe a call to Joe to step up for the third and fourth terms. If we could see out the next 20 years of conservative governing, I could actually retire.

  73. calli says:

    Neither are economic geniuses

True, but the difference is stark. Bowen is a BEc (Sydney), Hockey is a BALLB. One has served all his working life in unions, Labor staffing, the other in private enterprise, including small business.

    Says it all.

  74. Motelier says:

The prize will jackpot to next weeks Interruption Lotto draw.

and Last Say Powerball jackpots. Last weeks winner was “that Wong Chap”

  75. Gab says:

Q&A Audience stats: 2% LNP, 40% ALP/Greens pretending to be LNP, 37% ALP, 10% Greens, balance school girls wanting their 15 secs of fame.

  76. Motelier says:

and now Emma Alberscreatchy is on

  77. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

wonder what he will agree with?

Shorten will agree with everything, even the stuff he doesn’t know about yet.

For some reason i have the ‘Sound of Music’ soundtrack playing in my head, yeah looking at you Docket 62

  78. Tracey says:

I can’t cope with Emma. Night troops and thanks for the weekly laughs and edification.

  79. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

    Crap even that rhymes.

  80. Motelier says:

Some whit on another thread said we would struggle tonight….HAH

  81. Infidel Tiger says:

and now Emma Alberscreatchy is on

Don’t leave us hanging. What’s Ratty on?

  82. Oh goody….(Pieman/Shorty) Shorten is on next week………..I wonder what he will agree with?

    The Prime Minister, of course!

  83. Motelier says:

    IT

I missed the intro…so I probably have to sit through the whole show….

    BUGGER

  84. Motelier says:

    The Prime Minister, of course!

    Who ever that may be

  85. Motelier says:

Well I am off to bed troops.

Will catch you all on another thread tomorrow.

  86. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

    Farewell, Goodnight, Aufviedersein, goodbye –

Brown paper packages tied up with string these are a few of my favourite things.

God damn you Docket62, i’ll be singing this sh1t all night.

  87. The Prime Minister, of course!
    Who ever that may be

“I don’t know who the Prime Minister is, but I agree with whatever they said!”

  88. Infidel Tiger says:

“I don’t know who the Prime Minister is, but I agree with whatever they said!”

    Haha!

  89. Aristgeiton says:

Shortcrust: flaky, yet soft between the ears – “just like Julia Gillard”.

  90. Shossmeister says:

Lucie: Meh. They were dying a natural death anyway. Onwards and upwards.

  91. Carpe Jugulum (don't call me sven) HenchCritter says:

I’m done troops – Oyasuminasai, Gussuri oyasumi, Yoi yume o.

    Until next time, Konbanwa

  92. CD says:

And once again a big thanks from the bleachers. I managed about 10mins and got told to turn down the abuse so I merely came to the best commentary for Q&A.

  93. perturbed says:

Give them no incentives if an aspiring businessman or businesswoman wants to start a business why the fvk should i subsidise it.

You can provide incentives by removing the disincentives.

  94. JC says:

    LOldouche

    Two words… Shane Wand.

  95. Hockeynomics says:

It’s hilarious reading the outcome of this debate here versus the outcome of the same debate on Poll Bludger:

    http://blogs.crikey.com.au/pollbludger/2013/08/18/newspoll-54-46-to-coalition-10/?comment_page=30/#comments

  96. Abu Chowdah says:

Check this out, ABC ‘fact checkers’ find Hockey guilty and debt not as bad as he says…

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-08-19/joe-hockey-exaggerates-debt-figures/4897264

  97. kelly liddle says:

    Hockeynomics
I would say Joe has under estimated because to suggest that Labors debt would only blow out $30 billion over 4 years is absurd, records show that deficits have been about $25 billion per year in excess of the governments estimates while Labor has been in power so a more reasonable estimate would be $450 billion debt over the forward estimates.

Can I get public money to support tourism?

hmmmmmmmm that is a big no

http://www.ret.gov.au/tourism/business/tirf/Pages/index.aspx It might be a no but not a big no, the government does give handouts for such. Just as most manufacturers don’t get a handout only the big ones that suit their needs.

  99. Oh come on says:

One of those exchanges where ALP supporters will think Bowen creamed Hockey and coalition supporters will think Hockey creamed Bowen.

  100. sabrina says:

One of those exchanges where ALP supporters will think Bowen creamed Hockey and coalition supporters will think Hockey creamed Bowen.

Great comment. Both evaded hard questions when they wished. We lost.
It is a shame thatwe have politicians like this deermining our destiny.

  101. Tom says:

From Abu’s ABC “fact checker” link at 1.42am:

Joe Hockey exaggerates difference between Labor, Coalition record on debt

Russell Skelton couldn’t bring himself to say Hockey’s claims about Labor debt were correct, so he turned on the lefty simper than he was “exaggerating”, quibbling about his use of gross debt and net debt.

The only reason the leftfilth use net debt is that it’s only about two-thirds of gross debt and therefore doesn’t sound as bad.

Thanks to the Catforce once again for a splendid Q&A fred.

  102. Tom says:

Hahahaha!!! Sabrina goes the “pox on both their houses”. It’s a lefty thing.

  103. Armadillo says:

I don’t know what all that fuss about funding the NDIS was about? I checked the budget papers and the mentally disabled component is in fact fully costed and funded. It’s in the line under “Parliamentary Pension Scheme”. Just have to find the money for the rest now. Can’t be that hard if you get rid of all the cheats on the “Disability Support Pension” that should never have been on it in the first place.
