The sighting of a unicorn – an honest reporter in the American MSM

They describe it as an “exclusive” but that’s just the problem. No one else wants the story anyway: Ex-CBS reporter’s book reveals how liberal media protects Obama. This is about the truly intrepid Sharyl Attkisson who shows by her example of normal investigative reporting how corrupt almost all of the mainstream media in the United States is. She was sacked, of course.

When the longtime CBS reporter asked for details about reinforcements sent to the Benghazi compound during the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack, White House national security spokesman Tommy Vietor replied, “I give up, Sharyl . . . I’ll work with more reasonable folks that follow up, I guess.”

Another White House flack, Eric Schultz, didn’t like being pressed for answers about the Fast and Furious scandal in which American agents directed guns into the arms of Mexican drug lords. “Goddammit, Sharyl!” he screamed at her. “The Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, The New York Times is reasonable. You’re the only one who’s not reasonable!”

The American media is as corrupt as the Soviet press. On no issue of political significance can one expect honest reporting. It is almost entirely no more than covering up the horrors of what Democrats do while distorting and amplifying whatever can be portrayed in a negative way if undertaken by a Republican.

You can see the immense value of an honest and open press in the way the United States is being ruined by its absence.

But in seriousness, the left have a mortgage on ‘compassion’, however most people do not take the time to scratch the surface on what their compassion actually means.

‘Journalists’ report the compassion, the public eats it up. It’s disingenuous from the press and policy makers.

    “Even the ABC is reasonable.”

“The American media is as corrupt as the Soviet press.”

After observing the behaviour of the press in the US and here I formed my own conclusion that the Soviet communists probably did not need to exert that much coercion on the likes of Pravda and TASS.

All they needed to do was ensure that those news organisations were staffed by those who were sympathetic to their views, appropriately brainwashed in the learning institutions (or ‘re-educated’), and the rest would fall into place.

This also explains how a person spectacularly incompetent and disconnected from reality – such as Rudd, Gillard and Obama – can get democratically elected.

If the press were free, it would have been impossible for Obama to become president. Just a cursory check of his past would have had even a rookie reporter saying “are you nuts?”

The MSM has the same affliction in this country.

Pity we don’t have more sober media types railing in print against the herd mentality within their own ranks.

It might be time for Andrew Bolt and Paul Sheehan to update their respective tomes. And name names too.

Further to that, the Cat should do what the Beecher News Network did a few years ago and show the various relationships between media types and their political enablers and the cluster of groupthink mediocrity in the Fourth Estate that reminds us of the veracity of Blairs Law on an almost daily basis

And that is any different to ALPBC Media, SBS and Fauxfax being Operatives of the Labor Party?

  7. john constantine says:

The abc reasonably responds with the ‘abc scold of silence’ that cold pause the senior abc activist uses to let whoever has ‘gone off reservation’ and used abc time without progressing the abc narrative know the delete button has been pushed, and the abc, under the superintendance of a ‘good and great’ will now continue to progress the narrative, regardless of what has just been said.

Reguardless of her politics she seems admirable in being a bit of a “truth ferret” and making the comfortable uncomfortable.

I think a lot of those on the “left” dont realise how much damage they do to their own “cause” by not exposing sloppy of badly run policy.
Id be willing to believe many in the ALP misjudged how on the nose they were before the last election because of the soft ride they were given. The fact TLS got to the prime ministership with a background as shitty as hers is a terrible indictment of the press in this country.

  9. Driftforge says:

One thing I find interesting is that people are happy enough in a left/right context to accept that media is corrupt and useless, and treat any report with the scepticism it deserves. Yet put the same people in a international context and they will happily accept the pabulum put out by ‘their’ media without the same degree of scepticism.

On a visit to SFO two years ago we stayed with Mrs D aunt & uncle – both very conservative (he an ex Commander USN) we could not believe that they read the local (west Portal) free papers & watched the MSM news – the left spin on everything was incredible. When we commented on this, Uncle Bill replied with “time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted” ie know thine enemy – and in one story gave the “real” subtext/made predictions which subsequently came to pass.

In the USSR people could read the “real” story between the lines.

  12. Petros says:

The problem is, Diogenes, that too many people don’t realize that they are being fed lies. Too many don’t even read news websites and the only news they read is sent to them from friends on Facebook etc. Pity some of these friends are working for the International Socialists (without declaring it).

  13. Tel says:

Now we are all going to be reasonable, and you are going to do it my way.

The American media is as corrupt as the Soviet press.

This is why both of the major parties in Australia have repeatedly attempted to bring in Internet censorship, and why they will continue to do so unless minor parties can catch them out. The Greens have some nutty ideas but they blocked Conjob and his Internet filter. Minor parties need to do this, because they are well aware that as soon as the filter comes down, they will be the first ones to get censored.

Doesn’t seem to work with Left/Green cuddles for Islam.
