All bright and shiny and new!

For what it’s worth, about Australian citizenship, and who can, and who can’t become an Australian citizen, I asked a few years ago ,from the Department of Immigration, about sponsoring my farm manager, a New Zealander, for Australian citizenship.

“You are wasting your time, he’s too old (at 55! the same age as me) and Australia doesn’t need any more farmers”

You couldn’t make this shyte up, honestly. The fact that no Australians wanted the job was something that their little minds didn’t encapsulate…

Running to the bomb and holding it to the ground, Tunn saved his platoon from the effects of the explosion, but lost his right forearm and sustained other injuries. Recommended for the Victoria Cross, he was awarded the Albert Medal for ‘gallantry displayed in saving life’ as the enemy was not being actively engaged at the time.

Man whose wife doesn’t leave the house without a sack on her head is “shocked.”

Why? Because he and his groupies were effortlessly destroyed by Cassie Jaye.

The Project hosts left speechless during interview with controversial US film director

THE entire Project panel has been left in shocked silence during an uncomfortable interview with a controversial film director.
Cassie Jaye was on the show to discuss her documentary The Red Pill, which explores the men’s rights movement by highlighting suicide rates, sexual assault and custody issues.
It’s received a huge amount of backlash in Australia, with many theatres cancelling screenings.
“We’ve had a lot of success in other countries, so Australia is really the only place we’ve had protests and petitions and banning like this,” Jaye complained on the show.
And it was clear she didn’t understand why.

Wow. The Daily Telegraph writer is setting her up as a dummie because she doesn’t understand why films are banned in Australia. How could she be so stupid?

“I’m curious what is different about Australia that makes this topic so polarising, so fearful to people that they actually want to shut it down and silence it … I’m not sure why there’s so much resistance in Australia,” she said.
Carrie Bickmore explained that it was largely due to the fact domestic violence is “really on the agenda” here, and pointed to the campaign run by Rosie Batty, whose son Luke was murdered by his own father in 2014.
“And it was his son that passed [away]?” Jaye questioned the hosts.
A confused Aly clarified: “It was her son that was killed by his father.”

Note here that Waleed is “confused” that Jaye had never heard of a globally unknown murder.

“That’s interesting, because it shows that there are male victims of domestic violence,” Jaye replied.

Game, set and match, Miss Jaye. Right?

The response left the entire Project panel in a moment of stunned silence, before Aly dived back in.
“Sorry — that’s the lesson you took from that?” he asked incredulously.

This is the bloke who took the lesson from multiple terrorist massacres that the slaughter of random Westerners by his co-religionists was nothing more than an “irritant.”

    But Jaye didn’t budge.

Why would she? She just humiliated Australia’s most sanctimonious dickheads – effortlessly.

Report: Security Tightened Around UK Mosques After “Bacon Hate Crime”

Security has reportedly been tightened around mosques in Cambridge, UK, due to strips of bacon being left on car windscreens.

According to The Cambridge Times, four vehicles were targeted on June 8 as Muslims celebrated Ramadan.

The outlet states that “the attack on worshippers” happened after the London and Manchester attacks, which have allegedly triggered an increase in ‘hate crimes’ across the country.

A spokeswoman for the Cambridgeshire Police said: “We are aware of this incident and an investigation is underway. We will be carrying out extra patrols in the area of both Cambridge mosques.”

“We were called to a prejudice incident in Kirkwood Road, Cambridge, at around 12.30am this morning.”
“We have received information that worshippers at the Omar Faruque Mosque in Kirkwood Road, Cambridge, came out from prayers to find strips of ham on the windscreens of four vehicles,” said TellMAMA which monitors attacks on Muslims.

“Worshippers who had fasted were confronted with the anti-social and anti-Muslim actions. We are increasingly receiving reports of such activities where pork products are being used to abuse fellow citizens who happen to be Muslim.”

“Clearly in the minds of perpetrators, they believe that pork products are an insult to Muslims,” TellMAMA concluded.

This is not the first time the monitoring group has seen this kind of ‘attack’.

In April, a similar incident occurred in Cambridge when bacon was left on a Muslim man’s car as he was at a local swimming pool with his niece.

“We were called at around 3.50pm on Monday, April 24, to reports of a prejudice incident in Queen Anne Terrace Car Park, Cambridge,” a police spokeswoman said at the time.

I wish this was some kind of parody or satire….

..but no, this is apparently the latest wave of “Islamophobic violence” that has “sprung up” for no reason since the events on London Bridge last week…

Sounds to me like a really good comment at the Oz in Greg Sheridan’s piece on the UK election.

    TIMOTHY

May should never have got the job in the first place. She wanted it not for the public service but for herself.

It just took until this election campaign for her failings to be fully revealed. Tin ear, no real life skills to guide herself anywhere on people or policy, cosseted to the point if being entirely unaware of what it takes to live in the real world. I don’t think she has any idea of the pressures on modern families – never once would it register with her that most people in the UK are doing it tough. They pay a lot of tax and the minuscule pension was the only reward they got. So she went out to effectively reduce it! And they were her supporters……

Consistently contradicting herself at every turn she was a do nothing Home Secretary who allowed Sharia courts – thought they had a place she said, and huge immigration increases through poor policy implementation even though there were only go to be tens of thousands she said, but she let in hundreds of thousands. Dismembered the police force and paying lip service to the public fury on almost everything from huge increases in the cost of energy because of windmills that do nothing but kill birds to crazy levels of foreign aid. She made a lot of enemies but she never knew – because she didn’t listen.

She had no runs on the board and was in so much trouble over her appalling past she didn’t have any answers. She was a bunny in the headlights. And it finally dawned so what did she do – begged off appearing on TV and sent Amber Rudd, another person in her own image and also disliked.

May had the temerity to ring Trump to tell him how disappointed she was that the USA was pulling out of Paris. If she had any clues she would have done the same thing rather than importing 30,000 tons of wood to burn each week. Just so she could say she was reaching renewable targets – and actually paying people to do it summer and winter – insane policies.

The public had had enough all right and I can tell you there are a lot of very very angry Conservative members who want her gone.

  50. JC

I said earlier. May was the rightwing version of the lying slapper.

Secretary Rex Tillerson Delivers Update on Qatar – 1:30pm Livestream….
Posted on June 9, 2017 by sundance

UPDATE: Absolutely brilliant strategic approach taken by President Trump and Secretary of State Tillerson; essentially supporting the GCC against Qatar via a mediation role that resembles Bad Cop/Good Cop. Those closely following the deep-weeds diplomacy will note the predictability of exactly this approach.

This is not the first time this issue has surfaced. Qatar is a financier of terrorism and extremist Islamic sentiment via their support for the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2014 the Arab nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), confronted Qatar and pulled their diplomats to force Qatar to expell the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood….

Against President Trump renewed call to “drive out” the extremists and confront terrorism, the GCC is once again calling out Qatar. President Trump is the big stick enforcer expressing understanding for the GCC approach; Secretary Tillerson is the diplomat trying to change the behavior of Qatar with carrots.

It’s not just Trump. The latest issue of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo arrived just before the British general election with a tasteless cover cartoon of British Prime Minister Theresa May holding her severed head in her arm. The title above translates to “Multiculturalism the English Way.”

It’s why we’re still with the hashtag #NeSuisPasCharlie.

Griffin’s assassination theme is also operating in a poorly disguised Trump version of “Julius Caesar” currently running as the “Shakespeare in the Park” production in New York City’s Central Park. Caesar wears a business suit with an overlong necktie and a bushy reddish-blond haircut. His wife, Calpurnia, speaks with a Slavic accent.

The Public Theater website describes this updated production by saying: “Rome’s leader, Julius Caesar, is a force unlike any the city has seen. Magnetic, populist, irreverent, he seems bent on absolute power. A small band of patriots, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, must decide how to oppose him. Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary.”

(Not possible to include the link because it’s from the Jooish World Review)

The brainwashed simpletons of the left now demand that all political leaders be weak, ineffectual, non-threatening, passive-aggressive poonces like Obambi or Crooked Hilary because decisive leaders are obviously dictators “bent on absolute power”.

The infantilisation of Western politics is the endgame of two generations of diseducation of our children in the school system and 70 years of uninterrupted capitalism that has given even the losers in the West the expectation of endless wealth without understanding the rules of wealth creation.

The They have created so very many real victims (amongst those who in a past generation, and indeed, only some years ago would go through a lifetime without any experience of crime), by giving themselves, of the Left, all power at law, and the rest of none.

And now The Idiot They can’t understand why they can no longer beat us back and down with their Faux Compassion Enforcement Clubs …

So what, they are still trying to throw up “domestic violence” as a smoke screen against, Muslim’s preaching, beat your wife, mutilate the genitals of your daughters and murder any family member who embarrases you, and they pick idiots Waleed Aly, Bickmore and Sam Bee to what, try to regain ground that that batty Batty woman cost them in spreading that blindingly stupid faux outrage campaign … The First People to see through you C-wordy C-words are the actual victims you run over to set up your next faux victim propagandists … 😡 –

Comey testimony is ‘basically a domestic abuse case,’
‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ tweets

Samantha Bee is in hot water for a tweet her television show shared during former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday.

“This is basically a domestic abuse case,” the account for the TBS show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” tweeted Thursday.

Bee retweeted and then deleted the message from her personal account as fans began to respond, calling the joke distasteful.

… As someone who has friends that have been victims of domestic abuse, you should be ashamed of yourself for drawing this correlation! #SHAME…

… Well, I’m an abuse survivor who doesn’t like my experience being trivialized. This isn’t the same at all. This isn’t a very feminist take….

… It’s literally nothing like that, this is disgusting. …

… @FullFrontalSamB playing domestic abuse for laughs is unfunny to a lot of women …

Has #neverstoploving signed a death warrant on the Saudi footballer that did the minutes silence?.

The measureable outcome from the saudis not doing the minutes silence is simple, the saudis that have to go home and live in a culture where the wahhabi morals police rule the streets know exactly what the risks are of disrespecting wahhabi matyrs.

Safe living australian political activists believed their own propaganda that wahhabi mass murderers are nothing to do with islam, and they simply expected that the Saudi soccer players were all waleeds, like their logie winner is the gold standard.

Their waleed lives in melbournibad, where he walks the streets in more safety than Andrew Bolt does.

The unalterable fact is that the saudis cannot be blamed for refusing to turn their backs on the god of Sudden Death, and do it in public as propaganda for athiests.

The australian socialists that demanded this suicidal action should be fired, today or yesterday, whichever comes first.

The utter bullshit fed to Australians by our corrupt crony kleptocracy has been exposed by this action, watch it go into the forgettery.

[ actually watch the left claim that we should open our hearts and open the borders to wahhabis fleeing the house of saud, as they should be able to #liveinlove and not the fear of the morals police.

We see that their Australian committee for the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice is becoming ever more powerful, being able now to remove the social licence to have political rights from their victims, and are now expanding to having the top level of state police protecting and greenlighting their right to strike down anybody that offends them in the public streets.

Heavy rain, flash flooding expected in NSW over long weekend

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to batter much of the NSW coastline with some regions being warned to expect up to 200mm of rain and flash flooding over the long weekend.

A severe weather warning, issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Friday afternoon, warned communities on the state’s mid north coast and far northern parts of the Hunter region to brace for flooding.

Rain is expected to ease in the southern parts of the mid north coast and far northern parts of the Hunter by Saturday morning while areas further north, from Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay, are expecting up to 100mm of rain on Sunday.

The weather bureau says some of the locations in the path of the system are Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree and Dorrigo.

“We’re expecting to see high rainfall totals when the system crosses the coast,” bureau meteorologist Rosemary Barr said yesterday.

“Areas of the coast with sharp topography will have a higher chance of heavier rainfalls as the system pushes upward.”

Ms Barr said the weather system was not an east coast low, the type of damaging storm that washed the Pasha Bulker ashore in Newcastle 10 years ago and claimed lives in the Hunter Valley in 2015.

“It’s currently a coastal trough, which is similar but not as intense when it comes to wind speed,” she said.

“Waves are also linked to wind speed so the surf isn’t within our warning criteria.”

Rain is expected to ease in the southern parts of the mid north coast and far northern parts of the Hunter later this morning.

From the comments in The Australian Article

and “Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery in 2005: “But since 1998 particularly, we’ve seen just drought, drought, drought, and particularly regions like Sydney and the Warragamba catchment – if you look at the Warragamba catchment figures, since ‘98, the water has been in virtual freefall, and they’ve got about two years of supply left, but something will need to change in order to see the catchment start accumulating water again…. So when the models start confirming what you’re observing on the ground, then there’s some fairly strong basis for believing that we’re understanding what’s causing these weather shifts and these rainfall declines, and they do seem to be of a permanent nature…””

Apparently our then “Climate Commissioner” (whose field of expertise is mammology and paleontology)) hadn’t heard of El Nino, or La Nina.

    – seems neither had their ABC.

    Some other pearlers;

    – In October 2006 Flannery said, there may be, “no Arctic icecap in the next five to 15 years . . . with the ocean [to] rise by six metres”.

    – June 2007 he said that, “Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, water supplies are so low they need desalinated water urgently, possibly in as little as 18 months”

September 2005 Flannery said, “There are hot rocks in South Australia that potentially have enough embedded energy in them to run Australia’s economy for the best part of a century” – Subsequently, in 2007, an exploration company was established. The company expected to raise at least $11.5m on the Australian Stock Exchange. Flannery took up shares in the company. In 2010 the Federal Government provided the company with another $90m for the development work.In August 2016 the geothermal energy project closed as it was not financially viable.

It would be interesting to log just how much this fraud has cost the Australian taxpayer over the last 15 years.

Heavy rain, flash flooding expected in NSW over long weekend

    Scott 2 HOURS AGO
    ABC Landline in 2007:

“PROFESSOR TIM FLANNERY: We’re already seeing the initial impacts and they include a decline in the winter rainfall zone across southern Australia, which is clearly an impact of climate change, but also a decrease in run-off.”

    Uhuh.

    Don’t panic though, ’cause the rain we will get won’t cause local flooding;

“Although we’re getting say a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas of Australia, that’s translating to a 60 per cent decrease in the run-off into the dams and rivers. That’s because the soil is warmer because of global warming and the plants are under more stress and therefore using more moisture. So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems”

Just ignore the weather warnings NSW.

Global Warming (or is it climate change 10 years on?) will save the day.

  110. OldOzzie

    Or

    Rosalind 23 MINUTES AGO
@Scott One of the things Flannery’s hyperbole has cost NSW taxpayers is the building of the now mothballed Desal plant in Sydney. How much is that costing taxpayers everyday it doesn’t run? And of course, to sell this electricity guzzling non-necessity to the handwringing inner city cafe set, the electricity it uses is “offset” by purchasing RECs from a windfarm in distant Bungendore. That wretched, landscape blighting, fire-starting, bird killing industrial windfarm on the shores of Lake George was only viable and only built because the operators of the Desal Plant in Sydney signed a binding contract to buy their RECs. So the neighbours in Bungendore suffer the blight, noise and visual disturbance while Sydney water users bear more of the cost with higher water rates and taxpayers underwrite this whole sordid rort with subsidies of every flavour. Everyone’s a winner, except us mugs at the bottom of the heap (ie, all taxpayers, water users, neighbours of the wind farm). Thank you Professor Flannery for setting the stage for this scam with your baseless and patently wrong predictions.

She should be a figure of mild fun or at least sympathy by now, like the girl who’s been a bridesmaid once too often.

  115. Senile Old Guy

    The UN:

Australia’s immigration processing centre on Nauru is a “blemish” on the country’s good human rights record, according to a United Nations official. UN special rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, Francois Crepeau, spent three weeks visiting migration centres last year and has published an extensive criticism of offshore detention. While Mr Crepeau praised Australia’s “exemplary” resettlement policies, he said the Nauru centre eroded human rights and contravened humanitarian obligations. “For all the progress made by Australia in all other areas of life, several of its migration policies and laws are regressive and fall behind international standards,” his report said.

Australia has no — zero, nil — obligations to take in country shoppers. Because Australia is an island, a long way from everywhere, all ‘refugees’ who arrive here have passed through many countries where they could have claimed asylum. The did not because they want to come to Australia. Along they way, most throw away all their papers.

Mr Crepeau visited the centres before the Federal Government announced a resettlement option with the United States Government, allowing as many as 1,250 refugees to leave Nauru and Manus Island. Despite this, Mr Crepeau said conditions at the Nauru centre were unjustifiably punitive and designed to deter people travelling to Australia without proper authorisation.

Mr Crepeau appears to be moron. Of course, the conditions are designed to ‘deter people travelling to Australia without proper authorisation’. Why should we encourage people to travel here ‘without proper authorisation’?

    These people are career pollies.
We don’t have any conviction politicians in the major parties.
This means we are effectively governed by the U.N.
And the U.N. is made up of socialist, totalitarian shit hole countries who want our wealth.

    These people are not idiots.
To say we are governed by idiots, is way to kind and lets them off the hook far too easily.

    They are self serving.

Energy Superpower USA: American Oil Exports Double, Reshaping Global Energy Markets

American oil exports are emerging as a disruptive new force in global markets.

The U.S. exported 1 million barrels of oil a day during some months so far this year—double the pace of 2016—and is on track to average that amount for all of 2017, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of data from the U.S. Energy Department and the International Trade Commission.

In another era, a domestic glut and low prices, currently hovering under $50 a barrel, might have caused companies to slow the pace of drilling. But since Congress lifted a ban on oil exports at the end of 2015, shipments out of Texas and Louisiana have skyrocketed, taking the fruits of the U.S. fracking revolution to new markets.

“The glut of crude around the world, coupled with extremely low prices to rent oil tankers, is upending petroleum flows,” said Kurt Barrow, vice president at consulting firm IHS Markit.

While U.S. exports make up just 1% of global oil volumes, they are a new factor helping to tamp down prices and keep them rangebound between $45 and $55 a barrel. U.S. oil prices on Wednesday declined more than 4% to around $46 a barrel after weekly inventory data showed a surprise increase in stockpiles.
Exports represent a relief valve for U.S. drillers, who are ramping up production at a pace to surpass 10 million barrels a day, a new record, by next year if not sooner.

The U.S., which shipped more than 110 million barrels to foreign buyers from January to April, according to ITC data, is benefiting in part from a decision by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to temporarily reduce output.

The U.S. still imports a lot of foreign crude, averaging 10 million barrels a day last year, because it is the world’s No. 1 oil consumer. But that level has dropped sharply in recent years.

A major reason why U.S. exports are rising is that American crude has been selling at a discount of roughly $2.50 a barrel to the international oil-price benchmark, Brent, for much of this year.

That spread makes it profitable to pay to transport U.S. oil to farther flung locales. If U.S. oil’s discount to Brent gets bigger, American shipments will ramp up. If it shrinks, less U.S. oil will flow overseas.

Another big reason for the increase in exports is so-called back-haul economics, said Mason Hamilton, an analyst with the Energy Department. Tankers carrying crude from the Middle East to Texas used to unload and go home empty. Now U.S. oil can be loaded on those tankers and make a pit stop in Europe on their way back….

China, the world’s largest oil importer, traditionally gets more than half of its crude from OPEC members like Saudi Arabia, Angola and Iran. But China, which imported a record 8.6 million barrels a day in December 2016, is stepping up imports of U.S. oil, as well as crude from Brazil, after its own production dropped significantly last year, according to the Energy Department.

“We believe that more U.S. oil production will be needed to meet future global demand and offset production declines in China and Mexico during 2017 and 2018,” said Rob Thummel, managing director for Tortoise Advisors, an energy investment adviser with $16.8 billion under management.

DEAR CLIMATE ALARMISTS: NOW THAT THE PARIS ACCORD IS SETTLED, PLEASE GROW UP OR SHUT UP
Date: 08/06/17 Daniel Payne, The Federalist

    Dear Climate Alarmists,

    We are exhausted.

It is not easy to write a letter like this. But we, the non-alarmist community, could not put it off any longer. We have quite simply reached the end of our rope. There are things you have to hear, even if it’s painful to hear them.

For the past few decades we’ve tolerated your hysterics, your cries of doom, your augurs of ecological catastrophe, your heralding of the coming global eco-pocalypse. We rolled our eyes and patted you on the head as you went after the plastic bags and the secondhand cars and the nice bright light bulbs. We even let one of your chief clarions come within a hairsbreadth of the White House—my goodness, was that 17 years ago this fall? Time flies when you’re having fun and predicting the end of the world every seven minutes.

But now the time has come for you to grow up or shut up. One or the other. Frankly, the former would be preferable, but we’ll take the latter in a pinch, in large part because we stopped genuinely listening to you years ago. Did you know that?

We’ve still kind of put up with your endless environmental wailing, and we’ve allowed your doomsayers to make regular appearances on cable news channels, the college lecture circuit, and even network television programs. But many of us have had a discrete iPod earbud in this whole time, listening to baking podcasts and binging on Netflix while you gnashed your teeth and rent your shirts and pulled your hair. A few of us even learned to doze with our eyes open! But we’re done with this charade now. It’s time to move on.

    Yes, It Was Paris
“Why?” you might be saying. “Why now? What changed your mind?” Oh, my friends, spare us the ignorance—you and we both know it was Paris.

Ah, Paris—the city of lights, la ville d’amour, paname, ma belle. It’s a beautiful place, although we suspect that from now on you may not be able to look upon it without weeping like a Frenchman. Paris, once the eponym of one of your greatest achievements, has become synonymous with one of your great humiliations. It should come as no surprise that this is where we break. You knew this was coming—don’t stand there acting surprised.

Your hysterics surrounding the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris global warming arrangement have finally driven it home for us: this isn’t working. We can’t keep pretending as if you’re making any sense or anything remotely connected to sense. We have to end this.

So we—what’s that you’re asking? “What hysterics?” Oh, please, don’t play dumb with us. We—okay. You really want to do this? Fine. This isn’t going to be pleasant, but you apparently won’t have it any other way.

Consider the Washington Post writer who hated the Paris deal until the exact moment President Trump pulled out of it. Or the billionaire who claimed that, by withdrawing from the deal, Trump was committing “a traitorous act of war against the American people.” Or the celebrity pseudo-scientist who asserted that the Trump administration didn’t know “what Science is or how & why it works.”

Or the actress who floated the idea of a class-action lawsuit against Trump. Or the website that implied Trump was telling Planet Earth: “Drop dead,” the major news organization that claimed the same thing, or the major newspaper that did the same. Or the civil liberties organization that claimed the withdrawal “would be a massive step back for racial justice” as well as “an assault on communities of color across the U.S.” Or the journalist who implied that “we [will] all die” as a result of the decision.

Or the newspaper editor who implored us to “blow a kiss goodbye to nature.” Or the progressive activist who claimed that “Trump just committed a crime against humanity” and had “expanded his predatory acts to the entire planet.” Or the actor who mourned: “Today, our planet suffered.” Or—What’s that? You want us to stop? Well, okay.

    By Now It’s an Addiction

We know it’s not easy to hear. In fact, we’re sure it’s downright embarrassing. But in the end you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Indeed, this wasn’t just a one-time binge; you’ve been doing this for years. Consider, for instance, the fact that your darling bureaucratic body, the United Nations, once issued a dire warning predicting “fifty million climate refugees by 2010.” When that didn’t happen, the UN covered up its own failed prediction and moved the goalposts forward another decade.

We’re sorry, but we just can’t deal with this emotional rollercoaster anymore. If you tell us to expect a global migrant catastrophe within five years, we expect to have a global migrant catastrophe within five years. If you can’t keep your word, then don’t even bother giving it in the first place.

It’s tough. Believe me, we’re sad too. We were actually hoping to just let you be. We would have given you the movie awards ceremonies and the constant ubiquitous “marches” and Bill Nye; those things haven’t really been our scene for years anyway. But Paris was the straw that broke the exhausted camel’s back. No longer can we just grit our teeth and put up with your shrieking hysterics. It has to end.

For goodness’s sake, please: just be quiet and leave us alone.

I am battling an old mate who lives in the socialist parade of Canberra and who is becoming an eco-warrior.

    He says:

The ACT govt doesn’t buy power I generate from me. It just does not charge me for the kilowatt hours which we exchange. If they stop doing that I will buy storage batteries and use though the night what I generate through the day. So will millions of others and most commercial buildings. Look forward to seeing rural towns racing each other to cut themselves off from the grid as they install battery farms next to their local renewable plants. Big changes soon which will leave this Energy minister’s pronouncements on the future of coal fired generation looking like a man devoted to whale oil for lighting cities. ! Finkel wants clean sustainable power generation. That means getting coal out of the power system ASAP. Germany has done it already. We are just stuck in the past for reasons that relate to Big Coal interests.

    I am about to say:

I don’t see solar as being useful for anything much than houses.

Battery technology is not far enough along to supply large people centres in a big way.

The recent announcement in SA: if you look into it wouldn’t supply power for more than a day.

The big industries and shopping centres which suck up electricity need enormous amounts to run them.

One useful way solar and wind might be improved is to install artificial dams near towns and cities and pump water uphill to be released to spin turbines when needed.

Trouble is – no politician wants to build dams either.

If you look at China and India’s needs for the next 50 years they are insatiable.

That is why they are building coal-fired stations at a rapid rate.

Re your: “Look forward to seeing rural towns racing each other to cut themselves off from the grid as they install battery farms next to their local renewable plants.”

I will bet you a bottle of decent red a year for the next 20 this does not happen in Australia.

Every year it has not happened – anywhere – I win.

Every year it has happened – anywhere – you win – one new town = a win for you…..

Ah yes, so what did Tillerson actually say in that livestream?

WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday urged Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states to ease their blockade against Qatar, saying it was causing unintended humanitarian consequences and affecting the U.S.-led fight against Islamic State.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed relations with the small Gulf Arab state on Monday, accusing it of supporting Islamist militants and their arch-adversary Iran, charges Qatar calls baseless.

“We call on the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt to ease the blockade against Qatar,” Tillerson said in a brief statement to reporters. Tillerson said the blockade was causing food shortages, the forced separation of families and children being pulled out of school.

“We believe these are unintended consequences, especially during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

“Our expectation is that these countries will immediately take steps to de-escalate the situation and put forth a good faith effort to resolve their grievances they have with each other,” Tillerson said.

The blockade is also hindering U.S. military action in the region and its campaign against Islamic State, he said. More than 11,000 U.S. and coalition forces are at al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, from which more than 100 aircraft operate.

Oh, so he completely contradicted the President, did he? An absolutely brilliant strategic approach, or so I’m told. So what was Trump’s reaction?

Roughly an hour later, though, President Donald Trump heavily criticized Qatar without mentioning a need to pull back on the blockade. Trump called Qatar “a funder of terrorism at a very high level” and said nations had the choice of taking the “easy road” or the “hard but necessary action.”

The Secretary of State and the President saying completely opposite things! Absolutely brilliant! What strategy!

Lucky the US doesn’t have 10,000 troops based in Qatar who would be put in harm’s way by yet another ME war using American-funded ordnance… hmmm….

A group that has fought a long-running campaign against the next stage of work to duplicate the main road connecting Melbourne and Adelaide fears time is running out to halt the “unnecessarily destructive and expensive” project. VicRoads has sought fresh approval from Planning Minister Richard Wynne to proceed with the 5.5-kilometre section of road between Buangor and Ararat in western Victoria after the previous authorisation expired. The Keep the Original Route (KOR) group said six trees of Aboriginal significance had recently been identified, including birthing, scar and canoe trees, which will be felled or put at risk by VicRoads’ planned alignment.

Six trees? Six? And what is the significance of ‘birthing, scar and canoe trees’?

Mr Lovett said not all Indigenous people in the region had been properly consulted about the project because the State Government had only been dealing with the registered group, the Martang Aboriginal Party. Aboriginal Victoria denies the six trees are of historical significance but Mr Lovett supports the call for an independent panel to examine all of the data and get to the bottom of the dispute. “It should be Djab Wurrung, not just the one family making all the decisions,” he said.

And so Australia descends into tribalism. There never was an Aboriginal Nation. There were only tribes. And we are going back there.

Not a suggestion as such, TE, but I wonder what they plan to do with all these batteries when they reach the end of service. Already, it is bad enough trying to dispose of a dead car or deep cycle battery – yes, I know some recycling centres take them, but not every community has this facility.

I envisage a future with piles of old batteries reaching to the sky, adding to our wind-farm polluted landscapes.

This year the church hosted Ramadan on every Friday of the holy month, in what is thought to be the first time in Australia Muslims and Christians spent the sacred time side by side.

Dr Finkel said it did not matter what form of energy was used as long as it met the goals of improving affordability and reliability while meeting Australia’s stated goal of reducing emissions. “The mix is not as important as the outcome,” he said. The clean energy target was a “market-based mechanism” that sent a price signal, he said. “It’s not a carbon tax — it’s an incentive to encourage investors to fill the void when existing large generators exit the market. If we’re bringing in new generation, we want to encourage low-emissions generation.”

It’s a carbon tax. Finkel is a fink. And a liar. And the LNP are now green-left.

The report to Mr Turnbull, premiers and chief ministers found that both a clean energy target and an emissions intensity scheme would lead to a shift in the national electricity grid to 42 per cent of power coming from renewable sources by 2030. These findings are central to the emerging political debate on whether the Coalition and Labor should agree on a clean energy target similar in structure to the policy John Howard took to the 2007 election. Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg said the report showed there would be “significant savings” for households. “It’s very clear that there’ll be hundreds of dollars in savings for households as a result of a mechanism as proposed by Dr Finkel,” Mr Frydenberg said.

Frydenberg is a cockroach and all too representative of the LNP under Lord Waffle. There is no rational way in which switching to ‘renewable energy’ can lead to savings for households. Frydenberg and the LNP are telling lies to the public.

Trump Empowers States with Massive Permitting Reform in ‘First Step’ to ‘Renewing America’s Roads, Rails, Runways and Rivers’

He gave examples of how belabored the process to building infrastructure has gotten:

It took only 4 years to build the Golden Gate Bridge and 5 years to build the Hoover Dam and less than one year to build the Empire State Building, people don’t believe that, took less than one year – but today it can take 10 years and far more than that just to get the approvals and permits needed to build a major infrastructure project. These charts beside me are actually a simplified version of our highway permitting process. It includes 16 different approvals involving 10 different federal agencies being governed by 26 different statutes.

Trump them spoke of a conversation that happened just 30-minutes prior, with a gentleman from Maryland and a project for an 18-mile road. “They spent $29 million dollars for an environmental report weighing 70 pounds and costing $24,000 per page,” said Trump who then moved to the side and showed the massive binders containing the report.

    Trump continued:

Why should we continue to accept what is so clearly unacceptable? Often times for consultants that are making a fortune because you can’t do anything without hiring them, paying them a tremendous amount of money. Having them write up this nonsense. You can’t get approvals.

“I was not elected to continue a failed system – I was elected to change it,” said Trump.

He assured stated and local leaders, “help is finally, after many, many decades, on its way,” pledging to give control, “back to the cities and the states.” Trump remarked that these governing bodies know best how to plan their communities, analyze their projects and protect their local environment.

He then announced a “new Council to help project managers navigate the bureaucratic maze.” The Council will create a new online dashboard to track major projects through the approval process and will “make sure that every federal agency that is consistently delaying projects by missing deadlines will face tough new penalties.”

The Administration is also forming a new office within the Council of Environmental Quality. Trump announced that this office will work to “root out inefficiency, clarify lines of authority, and streamline federal and state, local procedures so that communities can modernize their aging infrastructure without fear of outdated federal rules getting in the way.”

President Trump said this massive permit reform is so important, but “only the first step in renewing America’s roads, rails, runways, and rivers.”

Al Gore Says God Told Him to Fight Global Warming

Former Vice President Al Gore is now telling his climate disciples that God commands us to go forth and fight global warming.

“Regarding the climate movement,” Gore said warming to his point, “there are people who say, ‘God is in complete control of everything that happens, and if the Earth is getting warmer, then maybe God intends that.’”

    Gore then rejected that conceit.

“Well, no,” the million-dollar mansion-owing former veep insisted. “God intends for us to take responsibility for how we treat God’s creation, and if we choose to use the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet as an open sewer for 110-million tons of global-warming pollution every day, the consequences are attributable to us.”

He concluded saying, “And if you are a believer, as I am, I think God intends for us to open our eyes and take responsibility for the moral consequences of our actions.”

They will feed the crocodile fully convinced, like the mythical croc feeder, they will not be eaten.

Terrified because they know their place at the trough will be taken away if they find themselves blamed (rightly) because of their cowardly neglect and incompetence.

They respond by taking aim at the easiest of targets. Our freedom and our tax dollars. No matter what the cost (to us) and no matter what the deprivations (to our freedoms ) these scum will do whatever it takes to not be removed from the gravy train while keeping moslem votes. This is going to cost us a lot lot more.

Imam Faizel Chothia will often sit in on his good friend Reverend Peter Humphries’ Sunday service at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Beaconsfield in Perth’s south. The church has been opening its doors to local Muslims as a place to conduct their Friday prayers for almost six years. This year the church hosted Ramadan on every Friday of the holy month, in what is thought to be the first time in Australia Muslims and Christians spent the sacred time side by side.

I am agnostic but there can be no common ground between Christianity and Islam. Their core tenants are utterly different and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. And that includes Reverend Peter Humphries.

This is copy and paste from Bolt:

    AGL boasts:

Starting in 2022 and ending by 2050, we are getting out of coal. We already run Australia’s largest solar and wind farms.

    AGL announces the catch:

AGL’s residential customers in NSW will have to pay 16 per cent – or on average $300 – more for electricity in the next financial year.

    And more in SA:

AGL’s electricity prices in SA will rise by 18 per cent from July, costing the average household an extra $350 a year.

The cause? In part the insane global warming policies that have shut down coal-fired power stations in South Australia and Victoria, and frightened off investment in new ones. From AGL:

Wholesale prices have increased for a number of reasons, including high gas prices and limited gas availability on the east coast, the closure of ageing coal-fired generators, and an uncertain policy environment…

    This is foreseeable and inevitable.

And Frydenberg, and the LNP, are telling lies to Australia.

The coming Shorten government will be a disaster for Australia but the LNP must be destroyed.

I am dismayed at his description of Luton. My grandfather left Luton to migrate here in the 1920’s. he saw no future in England due to the class system. He would never have envisaged that his home town would become a Muslim enclave with the locals treated as the enemy of the state. (Still reeling about the story of the teenage unarmed boys fighting fully grown armed Muslim men and the police fronting the teenage boys and the stories of capitulation by authorities to both Muslim Grouos and the EDL).

I drop down on my knees and thank God that he left England when he did.

Of special interest to me was Tommy’s accent. That is how Grandad would have sounded when he first came here. By the time I knew him his accent was fading unless I spoke with him on the phone.

    3. To cut the VAT rate for tourism businesses;

    5. To abolish Air Passenger Duty;
    6. To establish low tax, deregulated Freeports in economically underdeveloped parts of the UK
    7. To reduce the number of Government Departments and reduce the number of Special Advisors;
    8. To introduce a Civil Service Voluntary Exit Scheme yielding annual savings of approximately £100 million;
    9. To create new trade, investment and innovation hubs in key global markets;
    10. To introduce alternative models of public sector service delivery such as increasing the use of social enterprises.

He added, “He should have had the courage to get on television and release the memos and talk about it or not talk about it. But to have some friend become his surrogate was absurd.”

    Bolt has caught that penny dropping big-time; it seems only like yesterday he banned me for suggesting islam was a disease; now he thinks its an epidemic;

The fact we are still debating whether Islamic theology has anything to do with a movement that has spawned something called the Islamic State shows just how far the West has to go. The West urgently must find a way to speak empirically, objectively and soberly about the global jihadist movement and its Islamic theology, free of the baggage of Western ideological battles that have nothing to do with the jihadist movement.

Here’s why we see this dumb denial, echoed by Muslim apologists in the West.
1.To admit the Koran licences terrorism would be to admit that Islam is dangerous in Western societies and needs reform.
2.To admit the Koran licences terrorism would be to admit that immigration policies must be changed to make Western societies safer.
3.To admit the terrorists are motivated more by the Koran than by the sins of the West would be to deny the militant Left useful seconders to their own campaigns against our traditions and institutions.
4.To admit that religion influences behavior, for good or evil, might let Christianity off the hook, given its obviously civilising influence.
5.People here, many raised to despise organised religion and to have an outlandish admiration for their own ability to reason, simply do not understand that others genuinely like being adherents of a faith and are motivated to serve it. Indeed, it is precisely the West’s lack of faith that earns it not the admiration of its Islamist enemies but contempt.

    The Massacre at Lidice
On June 10, 1942, the German government announced that it had destroyed the small village of Lidice, Czechoslovakia, killing every adult male and some fifty-two women. All surviving women and children were then deported to concentration camps, or if found suitable to be “Germanized”, sent to the greater Reich. The Nazi’s then proudly proclaimed that the village of Lidice, it’s residents, and its very name, were now forever blotted from memory.

Calls for a federal high-security prison for people convicted of serious terrorism charges are gaining momentum, but some experts fear such a facility could become a breeding ground for jihadis.

People ‘convicted of serious terrorism charges’ are already jihadis.

But experts with experience in extremism and counterterrorism doubt the effectiveness of the proposed solution. Dr Clark Jones, an expert in radicalisation from the Australian National University, said the proposal is “a bad idea” which has the potential to “breed terrorism”. “History has shown us that when you incarcerate offenders particularly terrorist offenders, and I’m talking about the experience the UK had with the IRA, I think it breeds terrorism,” he said.

But they are already terrorists. That’s why they are in prison after being convicted on terrorist charges.

Okay, there’s a shortage of doctors in the US. It can happen. We had a shortage some years back and now I’ve heard we have a surplus of the arrogant pricks.

Lets see what’s going on in the US.

With U.S. medical schools struggling to churn out enough doctors to meet the demand in rural and other underserved areas, overseas programs that cater to their admission rejects are helping to pick up the slack.

So international schools try and cater for demand.

The international schools have long carried a stigma of being pricey, mainly for-profit and a little too close to the beach for proper studying. And health-care professionals say many still do have lax admission standards and abysmal outcomes.

But amid uncertainty over whether the pipeline of foreign doctors will slow due to tighter immigration rules under the Trump administration, some offshore institutions have polished their images as their American graduates help to fill a critical need in places like Louisiana and Wyoming.

And where does Chantel show up for a medical degree with an appalling GPA? Well Australia of course with a pocket full of change to pay for it. With the Aussie down at 75 cents and lax entrance standards, what not to like.

New Jersey native Chantel Taylor was turned down by more than 20 U.S. medical schools with a 3.0 grade point average from Brown University and an “average” score on the MCAT medical-school admission test. To get her dream job as a primary-care doctor, she enrolled in a program created eight years ago specifically for Americans—in Australia.

Dr. Taylor, 29 years old, attended a joint program between the University of Queensland and the Ochsner Health System in Louisiana. Now she is about to start her second year of residency at the Louisiana State University rural family -medicine program in Bogalusa, La., where she does everything from deliver babies for uninsured mothers to care for elderly patients with chronic conditions.

No kidding, with a GPA of 3 and an average medical school admission test result at the borderline, you’re not training a doctor, you’re training a fucking nurse. Change that, you’re training an orderly.
I always had a hunch that our docs weren’t the brightest specimens in the universe. Here’s exhibit A lending my hunch a little more credence.
Chantel is now potentially killing people in Louisiana and we have Australia to thank.

Gerard Henderson at the Australian; expect a paywall

    Not the IRA!

This was a logical response. However, Paul Bongiorno, who comments on ABC Radio National and writes for the left-wing The Saturday Paper, felt the need to respond. He tweeted: “Was the IRA Catholic extremism?” — implying that this was the case. On Sky News’s Paul Murray Live last Wednesday, senator Derryn Hinch ran a similar line, linking the IRA with “Catholics”.

Bongiorno concedes that some terrorists are inspired by Islam, but then argues that members of the Irish Republican Army consisted of terrorists who were inspired by Catholicism.

This is a false comparison. Certainly, the overwhelming majority of Muslims living in the West are not, and do not support, terrorists. But this is not inconsistent with the fact nearly all Islamist terrorists claim to be motivated by their faith.

This is a problem in Islam since, unlike the Catholic Church, there is no Muslim clerical leader who holds an equivalent position to the Pope. In short, Muslims are entitled to form their own understanding of the nature of their religion.

Hinch’s ignorance is perhaps understandable. However, as Bongiorno should know — since he was once a Catholic priest who studied in Rome — the IRA was not a Catholic organisation and did not claim to be inspired by the life of Jesus Christ or the teachings of Pope Peter and his successors. Rather, it was a secular organisation with a nationalist goal.

    Rinse and repeat

Unlike Islamists, IRA was never motivated by religion

Shortly after calling into question President Trump’s mental health on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe,’ House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s own mental health came under scrutiny, as the 77-year-old California congresswoman referred to President Trump as “President Bush” and forgot what day of the week it is.

A reporter quickly helped her correct the gaffe, interjecting “Trump,” but Pelosi appeared oblivious she slipped up.

An aide then emerged from the sidelines, passing Pelosi a note, notifying her she got the two presidents mixed up again.

Pelosi’s confusion came just two hours after suggesting Trump was losing his mind. “I am concerned,” she said on MSNBC, about Trump’s “fitness for office.”

“I think his family should be concerned about his health,” Pelosi said. “The fact is that this is hopefully not reparable — he’s the president of the United States.”

“You mean you hope it is reparable?” Joe Scarborough asked, apparently confused.

    “Yeah, yeah,” she replied.

Asked if she had advise for Trump, she said, “go to sleep, get some sleep. Bring yourself to a place where your synapses are working.”

During her weekly press conference, Pelosi not only became confused over who is president, but also what day of the week it is.

“I spoke with the speaker a week, a week and a couple days ago, about — oh, no, just last Friday,” she said. “What is today? Is it Friday again?”

  234. I’m thinking, and I honestly can’t recall anyone who’s publicly given more natural, matter of fact, not at all bunged on or corny, respect, honour and thanks to God The Creator, than President Donald Trump.

Mmyes, this is the man who claims to be a Presbyterian yet had to have two Presbyterian pastors gently explain to him that they weren’t evangelical but they were still Christians.

Two days before his presidential inauguration, Donald Trump greeted a pair of visitors at his office in Trump Tower.
As a swarm of reporters waited in the gilded lobby, the Rev. Patrick O’Connor, the senior pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Queens, and the Rev. Scott Black Johnston, the senior pastor of Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, arrived to pray with the next president.
From behind his desk on the 26th floor, Trump faced the Celtic cross at the top of the steeple of Johnston’s church, located a block south on Fifth Avenue. When Johnston pointed it out to Trump, the President-elect responded by marveling at the thick glass on the windows of his office — bulletproof panels installed after the election.
It was clear that Trump was still preoccupied with his November victory, and pleased with his performance with one constituency in particular.
“I did very, very well with evangelicals in the polls,” Trump interjected in the middle of the conversation — previously unreported comments that were described to me by both pastors.
They gently reminded Trump that neither of them was an evangelical.
“Well, what are you then?” Trump asked.
They explained they were mainline Protestants, the same Christian tradition in which Trump, a self-described Presbyterian, was raised and claims membership. Like many mainline pastors, they told the President-elect, they lead diverse congregations.
Trump nodded along, then posed another question to the two men: “But you’re all Christians?”
    “Yes, we’re all Christians.”

At least he can recite Two Corinthians 3:17. Something about a ball game, he said.
