If Knights cartoon depicted a white player male or female doing the tantrum then no problem. However because Serena is female and black cue the outrage. His cartoon sums up what happened brilliantly.

What is sad about the incident is that Tennis USA supported Serena.

Hopefully the crown at the Aussie Open will get behind Naomi big time. Serena not so much.

Victorian youth prison workers under attack

WORKERS at the state’s youth jails are being bashed at a rate higher than staff at adult maximum-security prisons.

Dozens of staff have been assaulted and more than 100 detainees attacked this year at the troubled Parkville Youth Justice Centre.

Figures obtained by the Herald Sun show 30 workers were assaulted by children in the year to August.

A new staff member was recently bashed by an inmate detained in connection with a murder.

That inmate has been involved in other violent attacks within the system.

There have been 115 episodes of teen-on-teen assaults recorded in the same period.

Many of those involved a victim being bashed by multiple assailants. Targets are often vulnerable inmates who have no chance against gang-linked offenders.

“It’s always the weakest who are singled out,” a source said.

Corrections Victoria sources said the use of restraint and isolation measures against inmates had been severely curtailed in recent years, leaving staff less able to control teens.

“It’s 45 minutes in your bedroom with your TV. The kids have all the rights and the staff have none,” a source said.

    “There are no consequences.”

IT you’re right – Asians get discriminated against pretty badly in the US, look at College admissions.

Knight drew what Serena did. Just in cartoon form.

His only license was the depiction of umpire and opponent.

The winning does not stop. Trump can win in a landslide in 2020 if he gives hope to the chronically unemployed. This might cause generational change in US politics. The U/E rate is so low that demand can only be satisfied now by increasing the LFPR.

    Compare and contrast.

US National Security Advisor John Bolton:

As for the ICC, Mr Bolton questioned the legitimacy of the court and warned that the US would thwart any attempt by its prosecutors to open investigations into Americans for alleged war crimes and other abuses in conflicts in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Mr Bolton, a leading critic of the ICC, said the Trump administration would impose sanctions on the court and take other measures to hamper its ability to function should it proceed with such probes.

“The United States will use any means necessary to protect our citizens and those of our allies from unjust prosecution by this illegitimate court,” Mr Bolton said.

“We will not cooperate with the ICC. We will provide no assistance to the ICC. We will not join the ICC. We will let the ICC die on its own. After all, for all intents and purposes, the ICC is already dead to us.”

    Australian senior defence official:

The ICC’s Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has recently expressed a willingness to examine some of the practices of US forces, and attention could then fall on Australia.

“I can’t see why they wouldn’t be interested in what clearly appear to be war crimes that may have been committed by Australian troops as well,” international law expert Gideon Boas says.

“Any armed force active in Afghanistan at the time that she’s examining could come under examination, and there’s no reason why Australian forces … wouldn’t be investigated as well.”

For the ADF leadership, the prospect of a fresh ICC investigation is a very genuine concern.

“As a signatory to the UN convention we must ensure that The Hague does not see a reason to launch its own war crimes investigations into our conduct,” a senior Defence figure tells the ABC.

“This must be kept as ‘Team Australia’.”

Serena Williams sits on 23 Grand Slam wins.
Margaret Court leads the field with 24.
I believe that she and Billie-Jean King and many others desperately wanted the symbolism of Williams equalling the record in New York and passing it in Melbourne in January. They had already written the puff-pieces about the woke diverse sisterhood banishing the straight-laced Christian homophobe.
When it was becoming apparent that she was going down she threw a McEnroe standard tanty to throw her opponent off. It has sfa to do with race, gender, motherhood, whatever … it is narcissism and entitlement writ large.

Williams is 36 years old and running out of puff and time. A lifetime of laziness has meant that she doesn’t have the condition or temperament to play two weeks of hard-fought matches without a good sprinkling of 2-set pushovers.

While denouncingly denouncing the Knight cartoon, she proves his point about certain women:

… because most of the sports media is made up of men, the incident that made Williams angry was going to get minimised, because it’s easier to paint a woman as a hormonal mess (the next sports reporter that calls what Williams did an “outburst” is getting cussed out) than it is to acknowledge that no tennis referee has ever penalised a man a game for getting angry…

… as it is with most things that have managed to combine a whole lot of -isms into one great big mess of things that make me wanna holla, Knight’s cartoon leaves me a little conflicted as to where to start in terms of an analysis.

… During Barack Obama’s presidency here in America, he was the topic of some of the most heinous cartoons from people who fancied themselves news cartoonists.

The former president, and first lady Michelle Obama too, were drawn in ways that served as racist dog whistles to the current cabal of White Nationalists currently running the US.

The caricature of Williams, complete with oversized lips and buttocks, and a skirt that might remind some of the banana skirt worn by the late Josephine Baker, made me think of these depictions.

You just answered your own question. The problem is with the Saudi army not Sunnis per se.

Same as Mosul. The Iraqi soldiers pissed off because they were cowards, not because they didn’t want to shoot at their fellow Muslims. Also with Mosul, don’t forget that IS was welcomed by the majority of the population. They wanted IS to kick out the Iraqi Army who they believed were on the side of Iran and the Shias and were already attacking Army checkpoints before the IS column arrived.

    No matter.

You don’t just suddenly do this once at the age of 25 out of the blue without having done it before.
Oh, and the 61 year old in a public ward at the Alfred eating through a straw doesn’t have a lot of privacy or dignity at the moment.
The other aspect is Richmond FC with the wymminses President just a month ago organising an SJW virtue-signalling swipe at Fraser Anning. Admittedly they don’t control their supporters but they are a lot closer to this one than a Senator making a speech in Parliament. Their response? A resounding “No Comment”. Surely a little statement that “this sort of shit doesn’t belong anywhere near our club” might have been in order, given their hectoring and lecturing on all manner of SJW issues.
Channel 7 (the footy broadcaster) has kind of reported it, but not with any great enthusiasm or outrage. Compare and contrast with their response when someone throws a banana at Eddie Betts or a kid calls Adam Goodes an ape.
Also, Walker Major has dropped the old “we need to see all of the CCTV evidence”, planting the seed that the other blokes provoked it. As I mentioned above, you can bet they are already concocting a defence that the other blokes uttered a slur against indigenous and/or moozley players.

    My memory fails me.
I had always thought that the DQ happened at a lead-up tournament, but it was the Australian Open, according to this report, (which does have a few flaws in it):-

The crowd of 150,000 rose to their feet, booing and chanting their support for McEnroe, as McEnroe himself stood with his hands on his hips, stunned.

I remember seeing it at the time and the crowd was absolutely pissed off with McEnroe, not “chanting their support”.
And 150,000 at the Tennis Centre or Kooyong?
    .
    And this is most telling:-

In a press conference following the match, a subdued McEnroe explained that he had misunderstood the rules, and was unaware that the previous year’s four-step process to default had been changed to a new three-step rule: first a warning, then a point penalty, then a default.

Soooo, the “spontaneous outburst” was really a calculated ploy to push the issue to three warnings and break the concentration of his opponent who was a break up in the 4th set.
I reckon Williams was doing the same … trying to put off her opponent or to buy time to have a breather after hauling her fat arse around the court for an hour.

OK, this was in the SMH three days ago:

Papadopoulos met with Downer at the Kensington Wine Rooms in May, 2016.

Downer, in an interview with The Australian newspaper earlier this year, said Papadopoulos told him Russia had “damaging” material on Trump’s presidential rival Hillary Clinton.

Downer said he forwarded the information back to Canberra within days.

The information was passed on to the FBI and US intelligence services and has remained secret.

It was one of the sparks that launched the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the US election and eventually led to Special Counsel’s Robert Mueller’s far-reaching probe – repeatedly branded a “witch-hunt” by Trump.

Papdopoulos and Downer both said their 2016 meeting was not a boozy affair, as some media reports have suggested.

“No one was drunk, as some articles stated that we might have been,” Papadopoulos told the New York Times in a new interview.

“At least I don’t remember being drunk.”

Papadopoulos also said he does not remember telling Downer about the dirt Russia apparently had on Clinton.

“I don’t remember talking about that with him at all,” he said.

Such an obvious set-up it’s actually funny.

    Mmm:

According to the new documents, Guyger, 30, told Texas Ranger David Armstrong that her door was ajar when she arrived at her downtown Dallas apartment. She saw a “large silhouette” inside, drew her handgun and gave “verbal commands that were ignored” by Jean, 26. Guyger pulled the trigger, hitting Jean in the torso. He died of the injury hours later.

Guyger told investigators that she called 911, first turning on the lights while on the call. “Upon being asked where she was located by emergency dispatchers, Guyger returned to the front door to observe the address and discovered she was at the wrong apartment,” the affidavit said.

A video taken from outside the building shows the officer on the phone, pacing back and forth outside the apartment and crying. Paramedics were later seen moving a man on a gurney and performing CPR on him.

    Here’s how it goes:-
    (1) The weights are ever so gently put on the DPP and Plod to downgrade the charges “to give a better chance of securing conviction”. Not to water things down. Perish the thought.
    (2) The Walkers’ brief applies to have it heard before the County Court, which now has jurisdiction over the diluted charges and the CC has limitations on sentencing. This is not to get them a free ride, you understand, simply so that the matter can be “dealt with expeditiously and giving consideration to the trauma a long delay and a lengthy Supreme Court trial would have on victims. In other words, if it goes to the Supreme Court, the victims are going to be cross-examined for days about every miniscule aspect of their lives to show what arsehole provocateurs they are.
    (3) Once they get it into the County Court, they will apply to have it heard by a judge alone. We don’t want Private School chap being judged by his lessers, do we?. Of course, the trial judge won’t be sitting alone … he will have Legal Profession elders figuratively looking over his shoulder all the way.

US cop shooting case to go to grand jury

By Ryan Tarinelli And Ken Miller
    Associated Press
    49 minutes ago September 11, 2018

The family of a black man shot and killed in his own home by his neighbour, a police officer in the US city of Dallas, say her account of what happened is self-serving.

The manslaughter case against officer Amber Guyger will be presented to a grand jury, which could decide on more serious charges.

Guyger said she mistook her neighbour’s apartment for her own last Thursday when she allegedly shot and killed 26-year-old Botham Jean.

The Dallas Morning News said Guyger had reportedly just ended a 15-hour shift when she returned in uniform to the apartment complex where she and Jean lived.

She parked on the fourth floor, instead of the third, where she lived. When she put her key in the unlocked apartment door, it opened and the lights were off. Then she saw a figure in the darkness, the newspaper reported.

The one thing everyone can agree on is that officials intruding in this way is unwanted, even if chair umpire Carlos Ramos was correct under the rules in all three code violations that prompted Williams’ outburst: the first a warning for illegal coaching, the second a point penalty for racquet abuse, the third a game penalty for verbal abuse. What’s most unfortunate is that Williams either couldn’t or wouldn’t let it go.

So the umpire was correct but… what? And umpires are supposed to intrude by enforcing the rules. This is more making excuses for a temper tantrum.

Will be interesting on an overcast still day – or fortnight.

Victoria will emerge as Australia’s “Capital of Renewable Energy” under an Andrews Government plan to build six new wind and solar farms powering up to 650,000 homes.

As the Victorian government chases an ambitious renewable energy target of 40 per cent renewables by 2025, the government has approved six new solar and wind projects under a reverse auction system to secure new, renewable energy supply.

Premier Daniel Andrews appeared alongside Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio in Ararat this morning, where Mr Andrews announced the reverse auction had “smashed” its original targets of 650MW of renewable power, to come in at 928MW.

‘Without a body, is she dead?’
    DAVID MURRAY
Under the plan, the Andrews government has approved three new windfarms at Berrybank near Geelong, Mortlake and Dundonnell near Warrnambool, and three new solar farms near Benalla, Cohuna near Echuca and Cawarp near Mildura.

Together, the projects will be produce enough power to power 646,273 households and reduce electricty sector greenhouse gas emissions by 16 per cent by 2035, Mr Andrews said.

“It’s simple – greater supply of renewable energy means lower power prices and more jobs for Victorian families,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.

“We’re making Victoria the capital of renewable energy and supporting the thousands of local jobs it creates.”

The new projects will also be a boon for economic investment, Mr Andrews said, generating around $1.1 billion in investment, 900 jobs, including 270 apprenticeships and traineeships.

The announcement comes at the end of a tumultuous month for national energy policy.

Former Federal Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg declared on Sunday the Coalition’s flagship policy, the National Energy Guarantee, was dead in the water.

In the absence of a federal energy policy, Victoria has pursued its own renewable energy target as well as a renewables subsidies program designed to help familie struggling to pay energy bills.

In the past month, the government has rolled out an ambitious pre-election campaign handing out more than $1.34bn in subsidies to help households buy solar hot water, rooftop solar panels and batteries.

The Andrews government this morning announced a $40 million program providing half price solar batteries for up to 10,000 Victorian households that already have solar panels.

The announcement is the third leg of a $1.34bn program announced in the last month providing half price solar panels for 650,000 households and $1000 off the cost of solar hotel water units for 60,000 homes.

“This is about modernising our electricity grid to help us transition to a more affordable, reliable and clean energy system,” Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said.

But the system carries a high prices, according to the Coalition, who have attacked the program for shifting the high cost of electricity onto the tax payer.

“If Victorian taxpayers are paying hundreds of millions of dollars to subsidise this, then it’s not really cheap energy at all.

It means Victorian taxpayers are paying for this extra electricity twice,” Opposition spokesman for energy, David Southwick said.

“Having helped to push up electricity prices by forcing the closure of Hazelwood, Daniel Andrews is now looking to taxpayers to help buy his way out of political trouble.”

These little xunts deserve a stretch in the Big House.
    Totally agree with your comment!

The things which should sink them are:-
    (1) After the initial tiff they waited to ambush the two older blokes when they scarpered. So an opportunity to cool down and gracefully exit was waived;
    (2) When the two older blokes returned thinking the coast was clear, they jumped them … three vs two;
    (3) Once they got the upper hand one of them held the older blokes arm and punched him in the face … 17 times … with his head on the hard pavement;
    (4) Then trod on them and kicked them;
    (5) Scarpered and, when the video hit the news the next morning, they spent all day lawyering up.
    .
    They.
    Are.

Oh, sure, she was not charged, but those closest to him know she was poisoning him and gaslighting him to the point he had no idea what was going on and made a will naming her as the sole beneficiary. Previously his family members had been named. Our celebrity also took out millions of dollars of life insurance policies on him and raided his bank accounts. When she cleared out everything she could while he was living, she upped the dose of what she had been giving him and he died. Then she cashed in on everything and moved on to the next victim.

I studied geology. I KNOW that climate changes. I suspect that we are about to or may already have entered a cooling phase. I doubt that, except on very localised conditions (ie heat island effect), man is having a major impact on the planets climate cycles. The cumulative effects of the urban heat island effect are insufficient to move the climate needle any more than forest fires, which have been around far longer than mankind, have done. Vulcanism appears to be the main natural agent for short term climate effects.

However the liver can generate glucose so that might compensate. Ketones are anti-inflammatory and a keto diet does help some children with epilepsy. For older people, because CNS insulin resistance can increase with age, moving to a more keto style diet can have benefits. One idea in relation to Alz is “type 3 diabetes” which refers to the development of insulin resistance in the brain but I think that is downstream of the actual pathology. That doesn’t exclude using fatty acids as an energy source for those with Alz\mild cognitive impairment. Such a strategy may even reduce pathological progression by decreasing inflammation.

Human brains like sugar and have a fascinating method of delivery. Astrocytes that regulate the blood brain barrier absorb the sugar, convert to pyruvate, release it into the extra-cellular space, and neurons mop it up. A genetic comparison of primates and us found a huge increase, by multiples, of the glucose transporter(Glut 4 IIRC) in humans compared to other primates.

Another possible problem with relying on fatty acids as energy substrates for the whole body is that with age the fatty acid transporters, carnitines, decrease.

It depends on individual metabolism. It may also depend on how patient the individual is. If we persist with a keto and\or fasting regime the body adjusts production of the relevant co-factors. I’ve even seen studies highlighting how a persistent high fat diet can increase athletic endurance and that probably does relate to an increase in carnitines production.

Sorry to be long winded but I prefer to provide context.

    “I high”?

    Try “that”, retard spell check.

They really ought to employ normal people when developing software for hoi polloi. I can understand nerds achieving financial security amidst a closed society of other nerds deliberately if too awkwardly triumphing in the ‘cool’ stakes where they long suffered constant humiliating defeats at college would seize on ever chance to make references to booze, drugs and fornication, but subordinate clauses really are a thing.

White House National Security Advisor John Bolton called the Hague-based rights body “unaccountable” and “outright dangerous” to the United States, Israel and other allies, and said any probe of US service members would be “an utterly unfounded, unjustifiable investigation.”

“If the court comes after us, Israel or other US allies, we will not sit quietly,” Bolton said.

He said the US was prepared to slap financial sanctions and criminal charges on officials of the court if they proceed against any Americans.

    He’s a great man.

Thanks Confused Old Misfit , I keep reminding others who do not know, including Josh Frydenberg who had never heard of Erik the Red. Low sun activity at the moment and records of past low sun activity have high correlation with mini ice ages. I am not sure CO2 is the main culprit and natural causes more likely to contribute so money being wasted.i

Fuck off Anne. All, and I mean every single damn one, of the so called 911 conspiracies is total bs and been debunked. The towers did not fall exactly in their foot print. WT7 was burning for many hours and could not be seen to due to the big ones about to collapse / had collapsed. The earthquake nearly 2 richter scale from their collapse also undid it. A truck fire on a steel bridge melted the steel – steel is not some magic indestructible metal – what’s your point? Steel cannot stop a jet travelling at 300 miles per hour.

FFS many aussies died in that tragedy and your spouting BS torments their memories.

    I no longer pity you.

    Just fuck off.

Was watching live when it happened – my name gives you a hint as to what I do – I said to my wife as the fires took hold – “these buildings will collapse”. Unfortunately I was proven to be correct.

Hear hear. I find these 911 conspiracies to be beyond crackpot and they are a hornet’s nest for various anti-S*mitic conspiracy rubbish. The twin towers had been a target since the first attack in 1993. And as Cohenite said, it absolves the real perpetrators and their insidious death cult of a religion.

Today we should stop and think of the almost 3,000 people murdered that day by Isl*mic scum.

“these buildings will collapse”. Unfortunately I was proven to be correct.

According to structural engineers, the outer shell was holding up the floors. Once the steel melted there was nothing to hold those floors and the whole thing cascaded on itself. I don’t understand how people think they went down otherwise.

    Fascinating stuff, Mitch.

The more I learn about proper nutritional science (that is, debunking Ancel Keys and the standard western diet), it would be crazy to go totally vegan; vegetarians and pescatarians can get enough Vitamin K2, carnitine and so on. How would they get enough dietary CoQ10 for example? As for Vitamin C, shouldn’t we be eating liver and other offal as well?
