Herald Sun backs Mark Knight’s cartoon on Serena Williams
    Staff writer, Herald Sun

THE Herald Sun has backed Mark Knight’s cartoon showing Serena Williams throwing a tantrum during the final of the US Open.

In response to criticism from US media and on social media channels, Herald Sun editor Damon Johnston said: “A champion tennis player had a mega tantrum on the world stage, and Mark’s cartoon depicted that.

“It had nothing to do with gender or race.”

Race-obsessed commentators see issue with Mark Knight’s Serena Williams’ cartoon, writes Rita Panahi

SHOW a race-obsessed agitator a cartoon lampooning a petulant tennis star and all they’ll see is “racism”. That’s all they ever see, whether it exists or not.

You know we live in crazy times when a progressive artist from country Victoria is slandered around the world as a racist misogynist for a funny cartoon that depicts Serena Williams’ outrageous antics at the US Open tennis final.

Maybe Herald Sun cartoonist Mark Knight should have portrayed Williams as a white man since that is the only race gender combination that can be mocked without triggering the outrage enthusiasts.

    Min,
I agree with you on the sunspots. Unlike you I am very sure that CO2 is NOT the cause of any but the most localized and temporary warming and that the warming so caused is so slight and so brief as to be accurately measurable. It is, after all, a minor (but essential) molecule in a gas that is constantly mixing varying quantities of O2, N, H2O (and other elements and their combinants) under conditions that are in a state of constant flux. If any of these are to be considered as a candidate for as atmospheric heater it should be H2O.

I hate these drippy conspiracy theories because they give islam a get out of jail free pass.

The muslims love conspiracy theories. But now in the age of deplorables the Left is also taking refuge in conspiracy theories.

John Gray on the current paranoia among progressives (BCF 9 Sep)

Conspiracy theory has long been associated with the irrational extremes of politics. The notion that political events can be explained by the workings of hidden forces has always been seen by liberals as a sign of delusional thinking. A celebrated study by the political scientist Richard Hofstadter, The Paranoid Style in American Politics (1964), linked the idea with the far Right. Yet in New York in December 2016, many of the brightest liberal minds exhibited the same derangement. Nearly two years later, they continue to reach to conspiracy theory as an explanation for their defeat.

The collective derangement that I observed in New York was a symptom of acute cognitive dissonance. Believing they understood the course of history, enlightened liberal minds suddenly discovered they did not understand their own society. The paranoia into which they descended – and in many cases remain – was the result of the destruction of their view of the world and their place in it. The upshot is that they are intellectually and politically paralysed.

Hence Wussians. There can’t be any reason that Trump was legitimately elected by more than half the country. That would imply everything the Left believes is complete garbage. Which it is. That is beyond their conception so they embrace conspiracy theories for the exact same reason the muslims do.

The irony is the Left had a ginormous conspiracy to subvert the electoral process, yet failed.

I was working in Japan when the Twin Towers were hit.

Next day we were sent notices from the corporate powers explaining that we should be ready for a lot of absences among the American staff, and to be extra perceptive for how those that turned up felt.

I must say most of the Americans turned up to work (better than sitting at home waiting for information if you had not had any) and made no fuss. The other (Brits, Aussies, Canadians, Kiwis) I think showed just the right touch as well. French, Germans and Italians too , but I think there is a strong bond among the English speaking nations and a feeling akin to a tragedy in the family: it happened to you, but we are all in it together.

The more I learn about proper nutritional science (that is, debunking Ancel Keys and the standard western diet), it would be crazy to go totally vegan; vegetarians and pescatarians can get enough Vitamin K2, carnitine and so on. How would they get enough dietary CoQ10 for example? As for Vitamin C, shouldn’t we be eating liver and other offal as well?

Synchronicity because I just read an email from someone in his late 60’s who has been practicing fasting(18.6) and semi-keto diet for a couple of years. He is very careful about nutrition, especially micro-nutrients. He is an avid chess player. Since starting the diet his fellow chess players think he has been getting lessons because his game has improved so much.

A critical and often overlooked point is that people need to try different diets. There is no one size fits all diet but there certainly is merit is changing dietary habits with age and health. For example people with chronic heart failure should be focusing on carbs because a number of studies point to improvement with a good carb diet and that probably does relate to reduced carnitine production. Alternatively carnitine supplementation may also help those patients.

Vegan diet is just plain wrong.

Vitamin C: limited absorption capacity. Many veges can provide adequate sources. Oranges might be optimal because of modified citrus pectin(in this pith and rind, has some interesting properties), and hesperidin seems to have good properties. Also D-limonene. A recent study claimed that as little as one orange a day could reduce the risk of macular degeneration by circa 50%. Vitamin C supplementation is next to useless.

CO-Q10. Not sure but I know people who like it. Very difficult to find a good quality supplement and the best type appears to be ubiquinone. Too expensive, I don’t like it.

Carlson said Americans deserve answers to the question of “how is our current immigration system made America more stable and more prosperous.” He also said he wants to know how exactly diversity is our strength:

“How precisely is diversity our strength? Since you’ve made this our new national motto, please be specific as you explain it. Can you think, for example, of other institutions such as, I don’t know, marriage or military units in which the less people have in common, the more cohesive they are? Do you get along better your neighbors or your co-workers if you can’t understand each other or share no common values? Please be honest as you answer this question. And if diversity is our strength, why is it okay for the rest of us to surrender to one of our central rights, freedom of speech, to just a handful of tech monopolies?”

  47. Mitch M.

I’m not interested in chess but would like to put on 10 kilos of muscle and look like big arnie in his prime. What do you recommend?

That’s a very good idea because it staves of sarcopenia(age related muscle wasting) which is a big problem post 70 years of age. Studies also show benefits from both strength and aerobic training. Also, while aerobic training does not boost growth factors, strength training does. Don’t use this regime immediately because it is too intensive but it is arguably the best and safest way to boost muscle mass. The Matrix Principle, developed by Ron Laura, Prof of Education at Newcastle University(or was). Now in its 10th edition. Be warned: embarrassing in the gym because you have to use very low weights, must strictly adhere to the regime, and a sports medicine bod told me even elite athletes only use for a limited period of time because it is that demanding. So go very slowly and first put in some months of regular gym work.

Migrant arrivals drop as Hungary enforces tough law

The stark reality is that we can only surmise what caused the towers to come down as we have no evidence. The only way to prove the theory of how they came down is to reconstruct both towers and have planes filled with av gas slam into them in the exact way.

What we have though a very probable theories coming from structural and combustion engineers, which is plenty good enough.

I was at work that morning. I had walked to work because it was a beautiful late summer day that you only get in NY. Just before 9.00 am we’re told, in the trading room, by the London office that there was a rumor a small plane had hit a tower. We turned TV onto one of the 24 hours stations and there it was. At the beginning there appeared to be only a small amounts of smoke coming from the crash. The small plane rumor only became redundant when the second plane hit.

We went outside to take a look from the Lexington Ave side of the building we worked in, but all we could see was a smokey haze. One dude I worked with had a twin brother who died in there.

There were two things that made being there different compared to say being in Australia or elsewhere. A couple of nights after, there was a big thunder storm in NYC and the thunder caused a temporary panic in the city. Our daughter ran to our room and slept in between us for the rest of the night. The other thing lasted for a while. It was a acrid smell resembling burned computer wires when the wind blew a northerly and came uptown. It got into your throat and cause people to cough.

Otherwise, we watched it on tele like everyone else in the world.

Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report – The World Trade Center
Popular Mechanics examines the evidence and consults the experts to refute the most persistent conspiracy theories of September 11.
By Popular Mechanics Editors Sep 11, 2018

The collapse of both World Trade Center towers—and the smaller WTC 7 a few hours later—initially surprised even some experts. But subsequent studies have shown that the WTC’s structural integrity was destroyed by intense fire as well as the severe damage inflicted by the planes. That explanation hasn’t swayed conspiracy theorists, who contend that all three buildings were wired with explosives in advance and razed in a series of controlled demolitions.

The NIST investigation revealed that plane debris sliced through the utility shafts at the North Tower’s core, creating a conduit for burning jet fuel—and fiery destruction throughout the building. “It’s very hard to document where the fuel went,” says Forman Williams, a NIST adviser and a combustion expert, “but if it’s atomized and combustible and gets to an ignition source, it’ll go off.”

FACT: Jet fuel burns at 800° to 1500°F, not hot enough to melt steel (2750°F). However, experts agree that for the towers to collapse, their steel frames didn’t need to melt, they just had to lose some of their structural strength—and that required exposure to much less heat. “I have never seen melted steel in a building fire,” says retired New York deputy fire chief Vincent Dunn, author of The Collapse Of Burning Buildings: A Guide To Fireground Safety. “But I’ve seen a lot of twisted, warped, bent and sagging steel. What happens is that the steel tries to expand at both ends, but when it can no longer expand, it sags and the surrounding concrete cracks.”

“Steel loses about 50 percent of its strength at 1100°F,” notes senior engineer Farid Alfawak-hiri of the American Institute of Steel Construction. “And at 1800° it is probably at less than 10 percent.” NIST also believes that a great deal of the spray-on fireproofing insulation was likely knocked off the steel beams that were in the path of the crashing jets, leaving the metal more vulnerable to the heat.

The Matrix Principle, developed by Ron Laura, Prof of Education at Newcastle University(or was).

Small world. I knew Ron and was one of his first test subjects. His matrix approach is both derivative and innovative. Derivative in that it drew on compound exercises and half and quarter rep movements. The theory to justify it in biology and biochemical processes was all Ron’s. Ron collaborated with the then Uni Chancellor, Ken Dutton to set up the first modern gym in Newcastle. The bench press and vertical leg press were my contributions. It was a wonderful place. It had a sauna. There had been a recent influx of Scandinavian students. The girls liked to walk from the sauna through the gym to the showers, often starkers. It was during this period I sustained my first gym injury jamming my thumb between a dumbbell and a bench. I’ve had a negative attitude towards women in gyms ever since.

Really? You don’t see much of it? Are you hallucinating?

I actually think that there are no true libertarians in the world because no libertarians actually live by their supposed philosophy.

There are only few anarchist libertarians, but it’s more of the degree to what level of government involvement you want in our lives. Milton Friedman thought that 10% of the economy was about right. I tend to agree with him, which makes me 90% libertarian? 🙂

Exhibit A: DL on the public teat and remember one of his first jobs was to whinge that he didn’t have enough of our money to get more people on the public teat in his office.

That’s pretty unfair because he may not have enough money to be able to support himself without the income. He’s not an appointed APS’er. He’s an elected representative, which is very different to troughers.

I also think libertarianism has a natural tendency towards authoritarianism.

    It does, how so?

Exhibit B: DL’s perpetual scolds and attempts to blackmail the entire country.

    I don’t debate, I discuss, I query, I wonder.

What did the EO say? I can’t find any like that in that date range.

There is one from back in March, it is very hard to follow. No IT, the moon is a light.

A strange one though because the temperature in moonlight is cooler than the temperature in the shadow of moonlight. So not reflected from any heat source.

An extraordinary thing, a few weeks ago I saw a half moon in the sky at about 4 pm. The sun was in the sky at the same time. Now you might think, holy cow! Are there reports of a missing moon on the other side of the globe. You might but I didn’t, because I know the Earth is a flat plane.

I don’t see how it applies to the anti-Trump swampies though unless you can prove they’re colluding with the muzzies since the context of the question was 9/11.

    Is mutton the new lamb?.

Interestingly, even as light supermarket lamb prices take a twenty percent downwards hit at Ballarat auctions today, mutton climbs a little more.

Heavy American market lambs are now a different price range to light Australian market lambs, that are in big supply.

The meatworks are ringing around chasing well covered mutton, so there must be a market for the extra shifts at the works, the spring off shears supply peak of old sheep is being swallowed somewhere.

The doomsters are predicting a looming end to lamb supply within months, as high wool prices high grainprices and high hay prices send the market signal to sell off lightweight crossbred lambs now and not grow them out with feed that could keep a young wool ewe alive until the autumn break.

Lamb is a miniscule niche trade to Americans, lot of them would never eat it, plus the domestic American sheep flock is just flyover country stuff.

Lambs do not convert feed to meat as efficiently as poultry, pork and beef, so the industrial American feedlot industry disregards it and puts no political pressure for barriers.
