My old mum went through one of those stages in the 1970s when composting was all the rage.

Would have been about the same time that the ABC ran a documentary about pioneer Greenies, who were going to take on a small acreage in Tasmania, and live a similar lifestyle. What had my grandfather, and father howling with mirth, and hooting derisively, was the statement that they would be tilling the ground, to grow some crops. Using a tractor would be bad for the environment, so they had decided to use HORSES!!!

This is a good start. It doesn’t go far enough but with the Govt’s precarious situation it’s a move in the right direction.

Migrants to wait four years for Newstart after government does deal with Labor

Newly arrived migrants will not be allowed to access Newstart welfare payments for their first four years in Australia under a Morrison government reform that will soon pass parliament after a deal was reached with Labor.

The opposition secured significant changes to the bill and has now agreed to support it, saying it was better to secure a bill they could “live with” instead of opening an opportunity for One Nation to secure their own agreement.

The original bill would have made migrants wait four years before they could access a whole range of welfare payments.

Under the deal with Labor, the waiting time will be cut down to just one or two years for carers’ payments, parental leave pay and the Family Tax Benefit A, but will remain at four years for Newstart, the backbone unemployment payment commonly known as the dole.

The whole point of Australia’s soros Class of billionaire property developer Landsharks bankrolling stabby mcstabbyface Bishop is simple.

The proles vote in the rancid and despised shorten looting cartel government in the lower house, then vote for a balkanized Senate to constrain the criminality and bastardy.

Frankenstabby Bishop then becomes leader of what is left of the libs, and she forms a bipartisan one party State voting block in the Senate to ram through all shortens Paris looting deindustrialisation and decivilisation Big Pushes.

She has already said she and the girls will just do it.

Libs and labor do a one party State deal to go softer on welfare for mass imported welfare vote plantations.

To deliberately silence voices from outside the one party State.

Imagine the wymynsys of the libs rolling over for the shorten looting agenda, just as the Luvs gave shorten this victory now.

Plus, as part of repaying his backers, shorten can overturn these rules in twenty odd weeks anyway.

    Comrades.

  10. How about this for an ideal outcome?

The original bill would have made migrants wait four years before they could access a whole range of welfare payments.

Why not put it like this:

The original bill would have made migrants wait four years before most of them became net takers rather than net tax payers.

f****** stupid deal by Morrison. Carers payment is easy to rort – and there’s no requirement for you to go look for a job so it’s famtastic gor welfare junkies, you can also make a monster on Family Tax payment without any obligations by just having lots of kids something uh Muslim immigrants are really happy to do and then you can rot childcare rebates. Leftism is a luxury good. We haven’t had a meaningful recession for almost 30 years and people have now been conditioned to believe the good times are linear so why not think expansively. Thinking expansively means voting left. You can do whatever you want to fiddle around with types of representation on the Right, but it won’t win.

Trump is a flicker on a long term chart that over the past 30 plus years has shown the West moving inexorably to the left. Reagan and Thatcher were flickers too. Look, the US economy has been doing magically over the past couple of years, but not enough people gave a shit and voted D’rat. After all the political bullshit they pulled, the D’rats should have been sent to the grave. But they won the House!

You can can and offer all the criticism you want about Mathew Guy, but he wasn’t toxic nor deserving this loss unless there are bigger trends in the political market. The electorate is socialist and wants to see socialist policies. They like it.
We shouldn’t get confused by the bubble that is the Cat.

The West is quite wealthy and isn’t economically stressed. it wants to see more public spending and more importantly, it want equality of outcome.

Barack Obama has taken a swipe at his successor’s legal troubles, one day after the special counsel, Robert Mueller, ended a plea deal with Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chair.

    Bishop is an elitist bitch:

Julie Bishop calls to keep power prices the same to save the planet

The Daily Telegraph November 28, 2018

Oil is abundant in Kuwait, so petrol is cheap. Kuwaitis pay only 50 cents per litre. Oil is also abundant in Iran, were petrol costs about 40 cents. Oil is particularly abundant in Venezuela, where residents cannot afford food but pay only 1.3 cents per litre at the pumps.

As oil is to the nations mentioned above, coal is to Australia. We have enormous coal reserves. Yet our energy is among the world’s costliest.

Blessed with a gigantic natural coal surplus, our politicians have somehow converted that advantage into four-figure quarterly energy bills.

And we now have former foreign minister Julie Bishop calling for continued high prices in the name of planetary life.

Speaking about Australia’s ridiculous and punitive energy costs, Bishop said: “This must and has to be balanced with concerns for our environment and preservation for our planet.”

Never mind that Australia produces next to nothing in terms of global carbon dioxide output, and therefore cannot possibly influence global temperatures. Bishop and her kind are on a mission to rescue the earth by making winter nights for pensioners a choice between heat and food.

Furthermore, Bishop also called on the government to reach an agreement with Labor over its discarded energy policy. Bishop is doing to the entire federal Liberal Party what she previously did as deputy leader to Tony Abbott. She has stabbed her party in the back.

To make matters worse, which is becoming a Bishop habit, her Labor friends are now openly musing about a possible return of the hated carbon tax.

“We’re talking to other industries about reducing emissions, and we’ll do that methodically, and we’ll announce our position before the election,” Labor’s Brendan O’Connor said. Perhaps he should consult with Bishop.

To close out a day rich with Liberal subterfuge and betrayal, MP Julia Bank’s resignation was angrily criticised by the famously loyal and devoted team player Christopher Pyne.

“She was elected as a Liberal, she’s now sitting as an independent. And she’ll have to bear the consequences for that decision,” the Defence Minister and moderate kingpin told Sky News.

If disloyalty was oil, the Liberals would be Venezuela. At least petrol would be cheap.

Chrysler and the Dodge brothers were brilliant automotive engineers and Chevrolet, that icon of Detroit ironmongery was actually the name of a Swiss race car driver.

Union calls for WA Labor heads to roll after fracking ban lifted

A brawl within the Labor Party over gas fracking has spilt into the open, with the powerful maritime union saying the McGowan government’s approval of the practice is a “betrayal of labour values” and calling on Environment Minister Stephen Dawson to resign.

The Maritime Union of Australia’s branch secretary, Chris Cain, accused the government of being more interested in pandering to the interests of big business than looking after ordinary West Australians. Premier Mark McGowan announced on Tuesday that fracking would be permitted across 5.2 million hectares of WA — an area about three-quarters the size of Tasmania — but that farmers and Aboriginal groups would be given veto rights over any projects on their land.

The government will lift its moratorium on fracking in highly prospective regions such as the Kimberley, the mid-west and the Gascoyne.

But Mr McGowan has promised strict regulation of the sector to ensure community safety and says fracking will continue to be banned in Perth, Peel and the southwest.

The decision to allow fracking came despite strong opposition from many Labor MPs and trade unions. Earlier this month, Labor’s state executive passed a motion calling for an extension of the government’s moratorium.

“The Environment Minister should resign and if he won’t resign, he should be sacked immediately,” Mr Cain said. “Dawson should be protecting the environment not wrecking the environment. The McGowan government should hang their heads in shame in rolling the dice with its decision to approve fracking in Western Australia.

Most of them concede their husbands are decent men, and the way they describe their husbands makes you feel sympathy for these unfortunate men – they sound so reasonable in their efforts to try and accommodate their hysterical wives. These women are caricatures of the stereotypical irrational woman. They sound bonkers. Objectively bonkers. Don’t care about your political persuasion – if you don’t think the women in this article are nuts, then you yourself have a serious problem.

‘Objectum Sexual’ Woman Gets a Tattoo of Her Fiance – a Chandelier
    27 Nov 2018
A British woman who identifies as “objectum sexual,” or attracted to inanimate objects, recently got a tattoo of her future spouse — a chandelier named “Lumiere.”
Breitbart News reported last year about a British woman who was engaged to a chandelier. Now, the Mirror reports that Amanda Liberty of Leeds, England, has a tattoo of her spouse-to-be, a chandelier she calls “Lumiere.”

“I couldn’t stop thinking about her and how beautiful she was — she has such a beautiful shape, and I could feel really amazing energy coming from her,” Liberty said last year. “Although I knew it would be tricky to get her home, I knew I needed to find a way to make her mine.”

Now, Liberty has a tattoo of “Lumiere” on her left arm. “I was excited to see the end result. Before I got it done I was very nervous about the needle, I’m not the biggest fan of them, but it wasn’t too nerve-wracking,” Liberty said.

Liberty identifies as “objectum sexual,” which means she is attracted to inanimate objects. She claims she first realized this after she fell in love with a drum kit at age 14.

But Liberty isn’t exactly a one chandelier kind of girl. “None of my chandeliers are jealous of each other, they understand that I love them all for all of their different personalities,” Liberty said in a 2017 interview. “For example, I love kissing and cuddling Lumiere, but I sleep with Jewel every night, as she is portable and very nice to cuddle.”

“People just think I’m just batty — they don’t take the time to get to know me,” she said in an interview this week. “The term ‘fruit loop’ has been used numerous times. I love Lumiere and want to be with her for the rest of my life.”

Google Gmail: Here’s why you won’t see gendered pronouns in Smart Compose
Google couldn’t stop Smart Compose from suggesting gender-biased sentences, so it banned gendered pronouns.
    By Liam Tung | November 28, 2018 — 13:50 GMT (00:50 AEDT) | Topic: Artificial Intelligence

Google is taking a conservative approach to gender-based pronouns in Smart Compose, the Gmail feature that predicts how a person intends to complete a sentence.

nstead of risking offending users by Smart Compose predicting the wrong gendered pronoun, Google has decided to simply prevent its algorithm from suggesting pronouns like “him” and “her”.

Gmail product manager Paul Lambert told Reuters the problem was identified in January when a company scientist typed “I am meeting an investor next week”.

Smart Compose apparently suggested, “Do you want to meet him?”, an assumption that could be wrong, cause offense, and draw criticism that Google isn’t managing bias in its algorithms.

Lambert said Google engineers tried several workarounds to keep gendered pronoun suggestions, but none of them was bias-free, so they decided to ban gendered pronouns.

The association, which has been a pipeline for players who go on to join teams in U.S. colleges and even the N.B.A., organized one of the few events catered for the South Sudanese community in Australia.

“It’s denying a whole community an opportunity to celebrate,” said one advocate.

    I particularly liked:

Yet the purpose of modern feminism has long since ceased to be the empowerment of womanhood, and has instead become the perpetuation of girlhood. The Left has fought to enable women never to age beyond the most shallow, superficial, sluttish, sanctimonious, and stupid version of themselves, and what is terminal female adolescence without boy craziness?

As a result, we now have teen-idol level visions of masculinity who are supplied as their beaux ideal of candidates or rock stars or whatever. Having been liberated to be their worst selves all the time, modern women must be given the types of men who would put up with them in that state, and so the terminal slackers, the glorified rent boys, the third string bass guitarists, and every other directionless, useless Bad Boy archetype imaginable must be propped up as a model for masculinity, and handed the keys to the future.

From Bruce’s link. The younger branch of the activists world-wide. It’s the same here, where Get-Up is the older lot of ungrown ups, urbanites still living the dream of political playacting learned during their university years. Now, as we see from the latest piece of repellent teacher-led climate activism, our TV’s show that children of very tender years are also being roped in to be dupes. Privilege knows no bounds.

To give you an idea of how monochromatic this group is, a recent study found that in the group known as “progressive activists” (i.e., the leftest of the Left), only 3 percent of them are black, and were described by The Atlantic as the second most homogenous group in the country. Whatever pretenses to race and class tourism these people make in college and through postgraduate study, in other words, this is a group that likes to marry other white people.
It is also a group that, thanks to the extended postgraduate education, have deferred adulthood longer than a large swathe of their fellow citizens: a fact that, no doubt, contributes to their demands to be cosseted even after they leave the academy, and their broad-based support for political correctness. In other words, these people are almost certainly less mature for their age, because they have so many credentials. Their high incomes upon graduating, and ideological uniformity, probably harden their real life-repelling bubble even further.

Exactly the level of civilizational dunce we are becoming all too well aware of, in most women, and lack of personal responsibility for our culture and how it came about, is evident as it even turns up amongst our cat women, who in other matters are level headed and lovely and bright.

Claiming I’m all men good, all women bad , is a lie of course.

Because, notafan, I didn’t start this war women are now engaged in against men and the west.
I’m not in attack, I’m in defence.

And right now I’m seething at the femarxist dominated education system abusing these little kids.

And it seems the welfare of women and children aren’t a priority if you are a woman, as stated here by other feminine cats, who wish to demean men with shoddy, catty bullshit.

Look what you lovely sex is doing to our children.
And you know it’s 90% women in charge of education now.
Do they have a vested interest in the children they are abusing, none?

    Fucking disgusting.

Huh? In moderation above for a comment on Bruce’s link. I’ll try this intro to it, changing the last line a bit.

From Bruce’s link. The younger branch of the activists world-wide. It’s the same here, where Get-Up is the older lot of ungrown ups, urbanites still living the dream of political playacting learned during their university years. Now, as we see from the latest piece of repellent teacher-led climate activism, school children are also turned into political pawns.

    East coast lows

Some of Australia’s worst maritime disasters are caused by the destructive winds, torrential rainfall and rough seas that accompany stronger East Coast Lows. These are very intense low-pressure systems characteristic of the eastern coastline of Australia.

    About East Coast Lows

When were the major historical East Coast Lows?
    7-8 August 1998
Rainfall totals over the four days (6-9 August) were greater than 300mm at many locations in the Metropolitan and Illawarra districts.
Highest totals were 420mm at Beaumont and 401mm at Kangaroo Valley.
    30-31 August 1996
Central pressure dropped 12hPa in 12 hours between 9pm and 9am
Highest rainfall total 386mm at Darkes Forest.
Cost 2 lives and caused almost $20 million damage.
Maximum wind gust was 64knots near Wollongong
    5 August 1986
24 hour rainfall totals: over 300mm in Sydney area.
Major flooding on the Nepean-Hawkesbury and Georges Rivers
Mean windspeed up to 40 knots at Norah Head
Observatory Hill – Highest daily rainfall total on record: 328mm.
    26 May 1974 – “Sygna” storm
Wind gusts at Newcastle Nobbys around 165 km/hour.
The wreck of the Sygna, driven onshore during the storm, still lies on Stockton Beach, near Newcastle.
    20 August 1857 – “Dunbar” storm
The Dunbar, a sailing ship carrying 122 people from England, was wrecked off South Head while trying to seek shelter in Sydney Harbour. There was only one survivor.

Brutus and his conspirators offed Caesar in a similar act of furious violence, but then Augustus tracked them down and exterminated them all (ok they committed suicide, but only to avoid worse).

Whether Trump has enough of Julius Caesar’s tactical and strategic brilliance I don’t know. But the same situation is developing, with incandescent anger from the Democrats being inhibited from violent action by the US armed forces and the NRA being squarely behind Trump. An actual attempted revolutionary civil war would be decisively splatted – very like Augustus’ campaign. Which is why the Dems are keeping it to a cold war with a side-order of seditious black-ops.

Only in later years did I read about the Viking Colony that lasted 500 years ,maybe 600 Years ,they did not live in igloos or wear fur skins like the Inuits but built from stone and raised cattle and grew barley. Unfortunately when it turned cold again they were not sensible enough to copy the Inuits and colony died out and their cathedral is now in ruins along with their towns . Liberal defector Julia Banks parties as seat volunteers feel betrayed

The Christmas cheer flowed freely in Canberra last night at the crossbenchers’ end-of-year bash as they welcomed their shiny new recruit, Julia Banks, to the fold.

But back in her seat of Chisholm, the volunteers who helped her get into parliament weren’t feeling the festive fizz.

Ms Banks, who got a hug from Kerryn Phelps, the new independent for Wentworth, was the MP everyone wanted to see at the party everyone wanted to be at.

A smiling Bill Shorten and former foreign minister Julie Bishop shared a joke with Dr Phelps in the corridor outside the crossbenchers’ offices in the House of Representatives.

Independent Cathy McGowan’s office offered local muscat, olives and cheeses.

Later in the evening, pizza made the rounds of the packed party.

Back in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, however, Rosemary and Kevin Pendlebury, devoted members of Ms Banks’s branch of the Liberal Party, said they felt deeply betrayed by their MP’s decision to become an independent, after they had contributed significant time, effort and money towards getting her elected.

The retired small business owners joined the Chisholm branch of the Liberal Party five years ago, and spent long days campaigning and fundraising for their candidate, Ms Banks, in the 2016 election.

“We all feel betrayed,” said Mrs Pendlebury, 72.

“We chose her because everyone felt that she best represented the values we all had — Liberal values, like taking responsibility for yourself, working hard.

    “We’re conservative. We’re not hard-right, but we’re certainly not left-of-centre.

“We just feel Julia has almost used us to get where she wanted to go.

“Volunteers give their time, but it also costs them money — we buy raffle tickets, we go to functions, we use our petrol.”

Mrs Pendlebury said she was particularly disappointed when Ms Banks sent local Liberal members an email about her decision not to recontest the 2019 election after the ousting of Malcolm Turnbull in August.

In an email of her own to Ms Banks, which had received no response, Mrs Pendlebury said she was disappointed but not surprised by Ms Banks’s decision not to recontest.

“You have just shafted the very people who worked so hard to get you elected,” she said.

If it was not for the Liberal Party, you would certainly not be in parliament today.”

From the Oz. I don’t know how to link to pictures, but the one of Julia Banks, and her new best fwend, Kerrwn Phelps should be a rouges gallery, if I ever saw one.

I had a look at the BoM warnings for the Hunter day before yesterday and they were quite exciting. So I parked my car under my ancient falling-apart* carport to avoid hail damage and branches falling off my homicidal front yard red gum.

As it turned out the only result of the ECL was one somewhat damp unhappy currawong.

Yesterday I tuned into BoMs Ncl rain radar and found out why. It was fun. The ECL happened to be sitting right on top of my house. The thunderstorms to the south were moving west, the western ones were moving north and the northern ones going east. Does wonders for the ego when weather is orbiting you.

(* My carport is an excellent bird table. Replacing it would require council approval, which sucks.)
