The bankruptcy proceedings against Anning are a pig in a poke and concern an investment in plantation production before he entered parliament which went belly up because of some finance irregularities (not on his behalf but a credit provider attached to the plantation company); a class action established a remedy which Anning is going to avail himself of.

The ISIS sympathizer accused of killing eight people in the Hudson River bike path attack was under government surveillance “for years,” according to new court papers.

“The government revealed it had been surveilling Mr. Saipov and two of his associates for years, recording his conversations with them to gather information about his personal contacts, professional experiences, finances, and potential exposure to ISIS propaganda, violent jihadism, and Islamic extremism,” Saipov’s federal defender Andrew Dalack wrote on Monday.

Prosecutors disclosed the feds had been spying on Saipov prior to the Oct. 31, 2017, attack only five months ago. The government has refused to reveal more details because prosecutors do not plan to introduce the surveillance during trial.

Daniel Andrews under fire over ‘Grand Theft Auto’ toll roads

Rachel Baxendale – VICTORIAN POLITICAL REPORTER

nfrastructure company Transurban will reap a nominal $37.3bn in extra tolls over the next 25 years in return for investing just $4bn to build the Andrews government’s West Gate Tunnel, according to analysis by the Parliamentary Budget Office.

Victorian Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien has slammed an arrangement which will see CityLink users tolled for an extra decade as a “dodgy deal”, saying motorists using the road daily will pay an extra $87,060 and a total of $161,000 in tolls between July 1 this year and 2044-45 to pay for the $6.7bn tunnel.

Under the deal between Labor and Transurban, CityLink tolls will increase by 4.25 per cent each year over ten years.

“The independent Parliamentary Budget Office has blown the whistle on the worst deal for motorists in Victoria’s history,” Mr O’Brien said.

“This is Labor’s Grand Theft Auto: $87,000 of extra tolls under Labor’s dodgy deal with Transurban.

“Who does a deal where Transurban puts in $4bn and gets $37bn out of it?

“Daniel Andrews is treating Victorian motorists like a broken pokie machine that only pays out. This is a shocking deal for motorists.

“This is going to increase people’s cost of living, and this shows why Daniel Andrews was wrong to sign up Victoria to this terrible deal with Transurban. Transurban shareholders are laughing but Victorian motorists will be crying and crying for many years to come.”

Coalition treasury spokeswoman Louise Staley said 71 per cent of the total toll increase to pay for the West Gate Tunnel would come from road users on other parts of the CityLink road network, which connects Melbourne Airport to the southeastern suburbs and Westgate Bridge.

“These are people who are not even using the Westgate Tunnel, and we don’t think that’s fair,” Ms Staley said.

“We think they’ve already paid for their road. They pay their tolls and yet this dodgy deal will have them signed up for decades to come paying additional tolls totalling $87,000 per driver, per motorist, just to pay for a road that they may never use.”

Work is already underway on the tunnel, but the Coalition remains hopeful it can work with the 11-member upper house crossbench to oppose a bill currently before parliament legislating the deal between Transurban and the state government.

Earlier this month Labor used its 22-seat majority in the lower house to pass legislation locking in an extra ten years of tolls on the existing CityLink road network.

The Coalition failed to secure sufficient support to block the toll extension in the 40 member Upper House, where Labor has 18 seats and the opposition 11.

Treasurer Tim Pallas is expected to respond to the Parliamentary Budget Office findings later today.

The bankruptcy proceedings against Anning are a pig in a poke …

As far as I know they are not against Anning, they are against a Pty Ltd company. That’s what limited liability does, it shields individual employees from getting made bankrupt when their business venture goes bad.

They MIGHT be able to prove that Anning was a CEO who deliberately chose to trade while insolvent … but that’s so difficult to do.

NSW Speaker reveals Michael Daley’s ‘uncontrolled, irrational rage’ that left her in tears
    11 HOURS AGO
ALAN JONES MICHAEL DALEY SHELLEY HANCOCK

The Speaker of the NSW Parliament has come out with some astonishing allegations about Opposition leader Michael Daley.

Just days out from the state election, Liberal MP Shelley Hancock has renewed accusations that the alternate premier was drunk in parliament and says his behaviour is “frightening”.

Ms Hancock tells Alan Jones the incident in 2011 left her in tears, but says his behaviour has only gotten worse in the years since.

“Michael Daley has not denied that he was drunk. We were sitting late that night, it was early in the morning,” says the Speaker of the House.

“He can be very controlled and rational one minute, and then there’s this sudden, uncontrolled, irrational rage that you see.

“And that’s disturbing and it’s frightening.

“I’ve been around politics for a long time, about 30 years… and I’ve never witnessed anything like it.

“It was alcohol-fuelled back then but it’s happened many times since.”

It’s planned to be equal merger with a very tiny majority going to Vodafone (but Vodafone splits two ways anyhow), there’s no guarantee it will happen. They could do very well, TPG is efficient but strongly biased towards fixed line communication, mostly copper with some business and residential fiber. Vodafone is strongly biased towards mobile. Both of them work the low price side of the market and between them they cover the gamut of mobile and fixed line.

Personally I would rate TPG service as better than Telstra, for most people at the normal (affordable) level of expenditure. Telstra is better if you are a big name customer, then they treat you very will. If you have to ask about what that costs … you aren’t even close.

Berlusconi Bunga bunga whistleblower ‘died in agony’

    By Tom Kington
    The Times
    1:28PM March 19, 2019
    No Comments

A model who attended Silvio Berlusconi’s notorious “bunga-bunga” parties had abnormally high levels of heavy metals in her body when she died in agony this month, an Italian magistrate has said.

Imane Fadil, 34, told her lawyer and her brother that she had been poisoned days before she died in a Milan hospital on March 1 from massive organ failure. A murder inquiry is under way.

The Moroccan-born model was known in Italy for blowing the whistle on Mr Berlusconi’s parties in Milan, claiming that they were not the “elegant soirees” he described but debauched stripteases where TV showgirls pole-danced in nun costumes.

Ms Fadil was due to give evidence to Mr Berlusconi’s trial on charges of bribing guests to stay silent about the antics in the basement of his villa.

Francesco Greco, the investigating magistrate, said yesterday that tests showed Ms Fadil had seven times the normal level of cadmium in her body. Levels of antimony had reached 3, compared with a normal level of between 0.02 and 0.22. Both metals, which are used in batteries, are toxic.

The claim that those who have criticised muslims collectively or individually crested the climate that led to Tarrant’s vile actions is a lie and a libel.

Yep, it is a traitorous lie. I once was speaking to that monstrous ego John Laws and he called me a bigot for criticising islam and I asked him what was a reasonable level of criticism of islam. He had no answer and now this NZ business will enable the muslim supporting censors to tighten the screws even further.

It’s an aggregator … they just collect stories and reprint as fast as possible … I’m stumped as to why people who bag out things like News Corp for placing heavy handed editorial controls on narrative, also will simultaneously bag out Zerohedge for NOT having any consistent editorial theme to it, and failing to deliver a comforting narrative they approve of.

I’m pretty sure the Police are responsible for gun licences. I’d imagine that would be harder to get through with a brown envelope. Amazingly, as far as leathal weapons go these days, a truck is probably far more deadly.

Having said that, both of those two are “stealable”. If you are gunna do it, there’s not much anyone can do about it.

Cory Bernardi tonight on PM on Sky was the most impassioned I’ve ever seen him. I think he should get like that more often; he was very good. He spoke very strongly about the left and the way in which Australia was a depressing and disappointing place in which to live at present. He was quite visibly upset by this, by all that was wrong with the muzzling of free speech and by the way in which the Christchurch shootings had been used to slander all opinion but left opinion. Perhaps too he is finally letting rip as never before because he senses that Latham will take a lot of the AC senate vote. Hard for Cory, because he has worked so hard to create a Party not dependent on personality politics.

Mark Latham also on with Cory, once again showed his stunning capacity to synthesise issues into clear images that are readily understood. In that, he was on fire, charisma shining, and once again he spoke of wanting very much to wake up the Upper House by putting some pressure on Senators to raise a vote on currently neglected issues.

Now some prior Deputy Police Commissioner on about how ‘we need to do more about hate speech’, with Paul Murray’s approval. Hairy’s flipped the remote and has turned it off. I think the police should do less about hate speech, I don’t want them anywhere near it, he says to me by way of explanation.

A quick, perhaps extraneous, observation: One of the dudes restraining the dickhead who assaulted Anning (stop calling it a fecking egging, it was a physical assault using an egg and a hand) had his bicep close to the youth’s throat. You don’t put a choke-hold on someone using your bicep, you use the bone in your forearm. If using your upper arm, the person normally slips into your inner elbow, where they can breathe, thus negating the purpose of a choke-hold.

  209. Muddy

    P.S.
Anning would have been better to smash the bloke in the nose first, which gives you an extra second or two to reposition.

What I’d say is that 1st, not everybody is ready to go full on. Mr Anning I thought was somewhat composed, comfortable even…and a slap worked pretty well in the end.

2nd, there aint nothing perfect and its likely nobody needed to have the lad pass out. I’ll wager though with Mr Burly nestling his neck in that crevice, that in the moment he surely felt like his head might just pop right off. Especially with 4 or 5 holding him immobile.

Jesse Hogan, the Dockers star recruited from Melbourne will miss his first game because turned up to training pissed. Or is that the reason? This is now the main story of the opening round and the Dockers are tap-dancing:

FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon says suggestions boom recruit Jesse Hogan has been suspended by the club are “not completely accurate”.

Hogan was set to be unveiled as a Docker in Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne, but has been ruled out as he manages clinical anxiety.

The 24-year-old was unfit to train with his teammates at Optus Stadium last Sunday after drinking alcohol the previous evening, and his mental health issue has since been revealed by Fremantle.

In a statement, the Dockers said Hogan’s circumstances have “been shared with the club leaders and player leadership group” and there is no timeframe on his return to football.

“In regards to ‘suspended’ with Jesse, that’s not completely accurate. It’s a mental health issueand Jesse needs support, and some professional support to work through and get him back available for playing,” Lyon told Channel Seven on Tuesday night.

Asked if Hogan was sidelined purely on medical grounds after being unable to train, Lyon replied: “I think you’re trying to delineate between a mental health issue and some function that comes out of that.

“I’m certainly not in a position to elaborate, except to say he really needs support.

“We’re really confident as a club we can give continued support for Jesse and we really respect the mental health space.

Seriously? Rather than “respecting the mental health space” or any such shit, what if the club had stated that Hogan has been left out because attended training while pissed. He now needs to sort himself out.

    No tap-dancing required.

CNN Stunned to Find Pro-Trump Latinos: We Want ‘Longer and Taller’ Wall

On Monday’s Erin Burnett OutFront, CNN’s Miguel Marquez noted that 34% of Latinos approved of Trump in a recent CNN poll. He said, as a puzzled Erin Burnett looked on, that though a majority of Latinos disapprove of Trump, there are plenty who live along the U.S.-Mexico border who support Trump, believe that there is a “national emergency” at the border, and would like to see the size of the border wall “doubled” or “tripled.”

Rolando Rodriguez, who lives a mile from the border in McAllen, Texas, said he wants a 2,600-mile border wall that is “longer and taller.”

When asked how much taller he wants the border wall to be, Rodriguez replied, “twice as much at least.”

Rodriguez, who said he supports Trump because of religious issues and “border politics,” added that he believes that the border wall will be a barrier for the “bad people” and not the “good people.”

CNN also found Mayra Gutierrez, who is in the process of getting her U.S. citizenship so she can vote for Trump. She said she supports Trump because of abortion, the economy, and immigration.

“We do have a lot problems here with immigration, and I do support his stance for the wall,” Gutierrez told CNN…
