All of them have a very low self esteem and no respect for themselves.

    But, but….what about Pretty Woman?

And Jamie Lee Curtis in Trading Places?

Are you saying they weren’t true stories Struth?

    My Sunday is shattered.

She’s having a lie down so she stops being creepy about other people’s sex lives.
Dr Stimp and Dr Sincs orders.
    Never forget :

None – FFS. Sense of proportion.
Your obsession with other people’s sex lives is creepy.

Ha ha ha ja ja ja!!!!!

  3. Ellie

Or posting in public about sex.

Some post constantly about sex here. More obsessed with sodomy than I am. 😁

  4. JC

JC, where has the law and order gone?

    You can’t say I didn’t try, Stix.

The open thread has essentially been destroyed by zombies. They got over the wall.

  5. Peter, formerly known as Memoryvault

I’m sure your mrs would be proud of your posting career lately memoryvault.

    I’m sure she would.
Marilyn always said I took this blog far too seriously. She dubbed it “The Glass is Half Empty Society” and said being serious about anything here was a waste of time.

    And she was right.

  6. Stimpson J. Cat

    It appears not.

Don’t listen to these *ex* hookers and Pharisees Elle.
They are probably all gay rugby players.

    😁

  7. areff

I recently attended a South Melbourne party, at the invitation of a bohemian friend, where a number of people, male and female, accommodated the sexual requests of several people I assumed to be strangers. However unsavoury, would it have been different/worse/morally repugnant if money had changed hands?

If seemed to me everyone was enjoying themselves. Their choice, surely?

  8. Stimpson J. Cat

Seems to be those saying gross, get a room etc , are not obsessed by anyone else’s ‘sex life’
Unless what is being posted here now constitutes a “sex life’

    But It’s Not Your Room.

    It’s Sinc’s Room.

How hard is this to understand, geniuses?

Listen Ellie and a few of you others here that are reverting back to your childhoods.
Firstly no one is trying to ban you saying anything.
However as men and seniors in this society we must remind you that sex is a private business between two people who love each other and respect means not airing it all in public.
No one gives a shit how great you are ar are not in the sack because the right judge you on other things and this isn’t the site for dating and getting grotty.
There is a line that if crossed will be challenged as should happen.
That is a big difference to claiming your being censored for you are not.

vr, Zingales is simply wrong. It’s true there’s been a lot of concentration in the tech field, however the solution isn’t permanent regulation. The solution is removing Sarbanes Oxley and the way this law has totally constipated the capital markets.

“mentally damaged young girls ” or boys isn’t exclusive to bad upbringing.

Twostix I did say I wouldn’t like it plus I wouldn’t let her work from home.

    Fibber!!
These days Moas are about as prevalent as honest politicians.

vr – yes. I have. I don’t think George Stigler would recognize what the Stigler centre is putting out these days.

  18. JC

    Areff

Except men shouldn’t buy sex from women. It messes terribly with their brains and they end up in psychological hell. Forget the moral aspect of it from a prudish perspective. As a psychiatrist pal told me once, he actually dealt with hookers and it really messes them up to the point where they’re mostly unrecoverable. Men shouldn’t do it.

  19. dover_beach

However unsavoury, would it have been different/worse/morally repugnant if money had changed hands?

Not at all. Money changing hands isn’t the only problem.

There is a law about it, IIRC. Try to do it in a park when people are looking.
Depends what you call private, at the place you attended, yes it was in private.

How one looks at that kind of behavior is also a private moral matter.

  23. Ellie

     reverting back to your childhoods.

    Huh? No. Current and present.

However as men and seniors in this society we must remind you that sex is a private business between two people who love each other and respect means not airing it all in public.

Why can’t we talk about sex? Oh, that’s right – it’s bad and dirty! And it makes people blush.

…and this isn’t the site for dating and getting grotty.

    No grizzling from moi.

Grizzling from the shy and oppressed, perhaps.

  27. areff

JC: Married men shouldn’t buy sex, that’s a given. But as a trader, you must recognise that whatever reservations one has about carnal consultants and their clients, no amount of “shouldn’t-ing” is going to change demand and supply in the least.

Married guys who cheat on the women to whom they have made vows might well be predisposed to mental problems in the first place. An inclination to deception, double lives, closed rooms, sweaty little secrets they can’t share — they strike me as more likely related to mental problems than the exchange of money.

I’m not suggesting there should be prude laws or anything like that. I made a point of suggesting this. Females are mentally unable to deal with having sex with lots of men and it really destroys them. I’m saying men should refrain from doing this because it hurts other humans beings.

    The rest.. sure.

Again and to answer Ellie’s last comment as well…….what the f…k has wanting laws got to do with this?
As I said above, I do not want any laws.
But if you overstep a cultural line I am well allowed to state my objection and reason for it.
When MV talked about his recently departed’s love for cunnilingus I thought he overstepped the mark , showed a terrible lack of respect for her and us in making the comment and deserved telling.
I did not want him silenced and needed no law.
This was just man to man.
    As it should be.
It’s the way a healthy culture and society deals with these things.
    We need no government intervention.

Are Asian hookers putting white Aussie hookers out of business?

Is it a zero sum game?

    So many questions.

  47. areff

It’s a short step from “overstepping cultural lines” to imposing penalties on those who do. Once you decide you’re the arbiter of where those lines are drawn you (a) kid yourself you’re more righteous than other citizens and (b) believe that gives you the right to regulate others’ behaviour.

Look at smoking, which was deemed beyond “cultural lines” by those who get to do the deeming. The result: an entire class of people made outcasts and, predictably, the further erosion of respect for the law. Nobody benefits.

    Slippery slope there, Struth

  48. struth

Jezebel’s been peddling how great the Dutch have been in history and indirectly trying to steal other people’s genes (by implying she has explorer genes).

A couple of small points to consider.

Jezebel was sort of boasting about how the Dutch sailed up the Thames once and took over Britain. What she neglected to tell us was that after this event, there was never a time the Dutch weren’t the Brits continental bitches and did what they were told.

The Dutch remained neutral in WW1. Unlike the Danes who demonstrated real bravery, the Dutch gave up 36.76 minutes after the Krauts attacked in WW2. They gave up their J**ws more than any country in Europe and sadly but also incredibly, more Dutch J**ws were gassed – (included in the comparison were German J**ws). Unlike the Danish Royal family, who stayed behind and did what it could to protect their threatened minorities, the Dutch royals took off like jack rabbits to Britain for protection.

Now this is the clincher… the real clincher.

Both in relative and absolute terms Dutch enlistment in the Waffen SS was the largest of any country in Europe. They weren’t joining the regular German army, these fuckers were joining/volunteering in the most murderous group of pigs we’ve seen in modern history.

    More here

During the Second World War approximately 25.000 Dutchmen volunteered to join the ranks of the German Waffen-SS. This number was not only relatively but also absolutely, the largest contingent of non-German volunteers from all of the Nazi occupied territories.

Considering the Dutch population was around 8 million at the time and also taking into account the Waffen SS just didn’t take in any volunteer – rejecting lots of applicants – that number is seriously freaking huge.

In many situations and conversations women can afford to be flippant like you Ellie, where men cannot and should not.
The reason we are in the mess we are in is due to the lack of resposibility men have taken toward maintaining their culture and being the “custodians” of it.
That doesn’t mean we need to be prudes and bores but we are the only ones, that control it until government intervenes.
That is why the mentality here today differs so much to the days of chivalry.
Did you notice that as soon as I offered an opinion on another man’s behaviour people thought I wanted government intervention.

It’s a short step from “overstepping cultural lines” to imposing penalties on those who do. Once you decide you’re the arbiter of where those lines are drawn you (a) kid yourself you’re more righteous than other citizens and (b) believe that gives you the right to regulate others’ behaviour.

It’s called moral supremacism and it’s just another brand of tyranny. Laws protecting the innocence of minors are necessary and standards must emanate from we the people, not they the moral arbiters or they the perverse, all too often one and the same deceptive predator.

Adults are welcome to avoid the company and voice of those they find coarse or disagreeable, but the state cannot protect you from your perceptions of vulgarity.

22 And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

24 But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

25 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

26 And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

27 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

Abbott’s baby bonus was attacked by the left and useful dupes on the right, but it was the last best chance that Old Australia had.

The climate change generation has been sterilised by their left and will spend their most fertile years in blind rage.

First generation to have a childfree voice

Tanya Williams, a childfree advocate and author of A Childfree Ever After, runs an online community to support women who go childfree by choice.

Less than two years ago she began a Facebook group that now has more than 9,500 followers.

“I think a lot of people have found it as a safe space to come and get information and have conversations and be part of a community of like-minded people,” Ms Williams says.

“We live in a pronatalist society — everything we do is geared around families and having kids.

Ms Williams says she always knew she never wanted children and is quietly thankful her sister provided their parents with the grandchildren she knows they always wanted.
A woman sits on a bench inside cuddling three small white dogs.
Photo: Tanya Williams with her dogs Tia, Latte and Neo. (Supplied: Tanya Williams)

She says she would never have had children just to keep her parent happy, but understands being childfree can be difficult for many among the older generations to understand.

“We need to remember our parents, and the generations before, were raised to believe they didn’t have a choice and having children was what you did, no questions asked,” she says.

“We are the first generation of women to truly have a choice and a voice.”

Don’t let it fester, talk it out

Laura Carroll, an author and childfree expert from the United States, says she believes a conversation should be had between children and parents if they feel the situation is causing stress in their relationship.

“I have a four-step strategy for talking about this and alleviating tensions and pressures,” Ms Carroll says.

“One — be very clear in your own mind why you don’t want children. Not only do you need to know this for yourself and your partner if you are in a relationship, but you need to know it so that you can articulate it to others.

“Two — if you are in a relationship, present a united front. This is important because it’s easy for others to blame one or the other person in the relationship, but it’s harder to do this if both people clearly vocalise their position.

“Three — nip the tensions and pressures in the bud. It’s important not to wait to speak up when you feel you are feeling friction or pressured. The longer you tolerate it, feelings will fester.

“Four — and perhaps the most important step — seek mutual understanding. For parents who want grandkids, they need to be asked why and it needs to be openly discussed.”

“the surprisingly swift decline of U.S. manufacturing employment.” The number of Americans employed in manufacturing had held steady at 17 to 18 million since the 1970s, but fell by about 3 million, or 17%, in the first few years following PNTR. Depending on the specification, 45% to 55% of these job losses can be directly attributed to Chinese import competition.

As deindustrialization accelerated, the wages of the third of the population with post-secondary education pulled away from the rest. This has had its own impact on our politics by entrenching the interests of the “creative class” of post-industrial knowledge workers, most of whom cluster in a handful of globally integrated and increasingly expensive cities. Meanwhile, in the regions where import competition was most concentrated, marriage rates fell, deaths from suicide and overdose rose, and voters polarized along party lines. Measures of congressional attitudes toward China show they are now more hostile than in the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The most acute effects of the China shock may have worn off by the 2016 election, yet trade-related layoffs from years prior still robustly correlated with Donald Trump’s vote share. Workers, unlike widgets, have memories.

    https://www.nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/the-china-shock-doctrine

Elites in these countries reap outsized gains by brokering connections with government officials and multinational corporations, deepening patron-client systems, and entrenching existing industries. The “trap” middle-income countries fall into is political in nature, but in a way that interacts with a development model based on unbalanced growth.

From a skills perspective, however, the China shock didn’t just represent the loss of particular jobs. It represented a permanent hit to our stock of human capital, causing various forms of process knowledge that might have been retooled to be lost for good.

the quantity of skill in one location, and the type of skill it is. The products we do require really advanced tooling…and the tooling skill is very deep here. In the U.S. you could have a meeting of tooling engineers, and I’m not sure we could fill the room. In China you could fill multiple football fields.

What happens when we stop the flow of knowledge up the stack? I think that the weakness of the U.S. industrial robotics sector is instructive. The U.S. has little position in making high-end precision manufacturing equipment. When it comes to factory automation systems, machine tools, robot arms, and other types of production machinery, the most advanced suppliers are in Japan, Germany, and Switzerland. I think the reason that the U.S. has little position can be tied directly to the departure of firms from so many segments of manufacturing. How do engineers work on the design of automation systems if they don’t have exposure to industrial processes?

Either that or it’s a load of malarkey.

    Always been the equation Doc.
That’s the “righteousness is by faith” message, which is consistent throughout from the calling of Abraham in Genesis, to Jesus and the letters of the apostles.

It’s also egalitarian intelligence-wise – indeed “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” (1 Cor 1:19). As you can see there are many who are not greatly gifted with intelligence who are fine Christians, and there are highly educated people who are Christians. Ergo, it isn’t an intelligence thing is it?

As for “Christianity ain’t coming back”, Christianity is doing very well in a lot of countries…just not in the comfortable West. And as you know the West is for the long drop sooner or later, due to the disease of progressivism.

The Soviet economy had been organized in an economically haphazard way, with factory “monotowns” dotting Russia’s hinterland as vestiges of 70 years of centrally planned industrialization. In the years following the first jolt of reforms, output fell by as much as half, poverty skyrocketed, and households saw their savings wiped out by hyperinflation. “Voucher privatization,” a scheme to provide households with shares in the sale of state-owned assets, wound up enriching a small class of oligarchs who were able to move their wealth abroad. And while economic growth eventually returned, Russia’s GDP per capita didn’t surpass its 1990 level until 2004.

Russia’s experience with shock therapy makes the American China shock look downright pleasant in comparison. But despite obvious differences in magnitude, some striking parallels stand out. Shock therapy and the China shock both represented epochal shifts in the forces shaping each economy. Both spurred rapid de-industrialization, with harms geographically concentrated in rural regions. Both hardened attitudes toward globalization, laying the foundation for the rise of illiberal political leaders years later. And both witnessed a rise in deaths of despair, driven by opioids in the U.S. and alcohol abuse in Russia. Indeed, the Russian state monopoly over alcohol was repealed in 1992, massively increasing the supply for unemployed workers. According to a 2009 report from the Lancet, Russia’s average life expectancy fell by approximately five years from 1991 to 1994. As the opioid crisis metastasized into a crisis of cheap, Chinese fentanyl, for the first time in modern history U.S. life expectancy fell as well, in two of the last three years.

It’s funny how Sly juggled Rocky and Rambo back in the day.
One of the great things about Rocky was the eponymous character’s physique. It was perfect for a backstreet Philly slugger and mob debt collector. Really strong – but like a bouncer, not a gym fag.
As Rocky and Rambo morphed and interbred in Stallone’s imagination over the course of the 1980s, however, Rocky started to look like Rambo; by Rocky IV, the heavyweight champion of the world was a skinny, baby-oiled poser.

Still and all, Stallone is one of the greatest commercial film geniuses of all time. He invented three box office-smashing franchises: Rocky, Rambo and The Expendables. Top that.

  230. Old Lefty

Worth noting, None @1732, that the most prominent Australian organisation supporting kiddie f***sling is the ABC. They have never retracted their Whitlam-appointed chairman Richard Downing’s 1975 statement in support of Richard Neville and his p3d3rast mates; and they stand by their 1975 refusal to co-operate with the police (any. Hance of charges for concealment, or is that reserved for the clergy?). When Gerard Henderson suggested a retraction, then Chairman Spigelman replied with a piece of snarky anti-Catholic’humour’; Milne also declined to act.

Aint it funny how two of the most popular excuses for not training are “I don’t have time,” and “I don’t have any equipment”?

Meanwhile, the old saying “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” still holds true, and case and point above we have Cpl. Robert Hamilton of the 1st AAF, who was stationed in Italy during World War II.

Cpl. Hamilton was an avid lifter in the States, but in Italy, there weren’t any weights to be found. Not wanting to miss workouts, Hamilton improvised with what was available and got the job done with this pair of narrow gauge train wheels.

I think you may be referring to the “chrome and fern set”.

Chris Uhlmann’s report which led Nein News tonight was a breathless story on Australia going with the US to Mars. Quite oddly optimistic for Uhlmann, but maybe he likes space stuff. I don’t know. As for the story it was a bit of a squirrel from ScoMo: just $30 million a year for 5 years. Not a great amount and vastly better value for money than NDIS or subs.

But the worry is the US still uses imperial and we use metric, which as we know is a problem for Mars missions…

  236. Old Lefty

Alcoholism was entrenched in the So iet bloc under the despair of Communism, and it was showing up in the birthrate – brewer’s droop is no myth. A learned Kremlinologist I knew once speculated about what Lenin, who famously coined the phrase’voting with their feet’ to describe the desertions in the Tsar’s army in 1917, would have called the declining birthrate under Brezhnev.
