Or could it be this one, MV?
CL has written numerous posts in the last few days, most of which have attracted the brain dead seagull to shit all over the comments.

  7. Arky

All these police comishes are just victims of the new management theories out of the business schools at that time.
Transplanted into organisations like police forces, schools and hospitals, these theories have wrecked havoc across the western democracies.

  8. Arky

Of course, that many thousands of none to bright cockheads seized upon those theories as a way to build their careers was also a factor.

  9. Arky

One reason you should not brag about being a school principal or hospital administrator or police commissioner.
It’s either an admission that you are a bit thick, or that you are capable of ramming through a bunch of damaging bullshit with no remorse.

    OmPoida

OmPoida is IamPeter, aka 1ampmeter, aka various other well-deserved nicknames. A pest who makes the numerical one seem almost rational!

He is not you (at least, I hope not).

  11. Peter, formerly known as Memoryvault

Haven’t commented on either of them, Lo Lowe.
In fact, hadn’t even seen them until I just went now went and checked them.
I rarely look at anything except the Open threads these days.
Which one of the commenters is supposed to be me?

  12. one old bruce

Arky, so much fuss over ‘IQ’ while a major driver of elite malfunction is I think, sheer instinctive animal cunning and opportunism. The cunning of foxes and wolves, or in my case the possums who have taken over my rooftop despite all my ‘high IQ’ university educated attempts to deny it to them. Plus the infinite gullibility of the human masses, sigh.

So I think it is with a lot of our emergent leaders these days, or maybe always.

  13. Tailgunner

I meant there’s a lot of fuss about IQ generally Arky, not by you. Especially in the US.

  15. Arky

Then they wanted bigger engines, fair enough but the 737 was too low to the ground for those engines to fit in there. Work-around plan was move the engines to make them fit.
Moved engines means the old well tested 737 isn’t the same because the thrust is applied to a different place, resulting it potential stalls under certain conditions.

I suppose that legthening the undercarriage wouldn’t have solved the proble?

There is no war. crime except leaving something alive. War means every person animal plant insect and bacterium belonging to the target is to be obliterated. War means there will be no.indication that the enemy had ever at any time existed. To leave anything recognizable is a crime. That is what a war is. Snowflake filth abound.

Mitch, well done in debunking the ‘porn damages the brain’ meme.

This is the latest weapon used by people who are against something. They cite those utterly unscientific, brightly coloured brain images as evidence that (insert pet hate here) damages the brain.

The truth is, those cute pictures are meaningless – as in, nobody has a clue what, if anything, they mean.

I don’t think that online porn addiction is harmless – in particular, it is very damaging to marriages or supposedly close heterosexual relationships. But that is a psychological problem, like gambling addiction. And, it is nothing like smoking, which only harms the individual concerned.

  27. Narwhal Tusk:

I seem to recall that some time ago we were offered a battalion of Gurkas that were for some reason superfluous to the British army. The offer was rejected.
Do you remember this or am I suffering from FITH syndrome?

    Remember it well, NT.
Problem was that the intersection between Ghurkas and Transexuals was rather small. And they would show up our blokes, anyway.

A relatively small contingent of Gurkhas were shipped off to the Falklands War in 1982 but because a a number of factors, didn’t arrive until 2-3 weeks before the war finished and had little direct engagement in fighting. There were a few incidents but nothing of any particular significance.

Anyway, when their (Nepalese speaking) British commanding officer told them that the war was over and the fighting was to cease forthwith (defensive only), the Gurkhas were visibly disappointed. They had been itching to fully engage and emulate the gallantry of their forefathers.

The Gurkhas were disciplined and stood down but they were undoubtedly frustrated.

Same year we had a federal election. The AEC “lost” a thousand or so senate votes in WA, and ultimately they had to have the entire population vote again in that state, costing millions. In due course the Grand Poobah was interviewed on the ABC to find out what happened. His first words –

In the 80’s, his firm dealt with us quite actively on the FX markets. He did some takeovers using our brokerage business to buy stocks. He is extremely rich and successful and now this. Sometimes you just fall off your chair in wonder.

An anonymous call to Crime Stoppers in August sparked a five-month investigation into corporate raider Sir Ron Brierley, who was arrested on Tuesday allegedly possessing almost a quarter of a million child abuse images and videos as he tried to board a flight out of Sydney.

The Australian has learned that Sir Ron allegedly made admissions to NSW Police officers upon his arrest about possessing the material held on a laptop and two USB drives seized by detectives from his luggage.

He had been planning to board a flight for Fiji around 6.30am when he was diverted and searched by Australian Border Force officers, and charged that night with six counts of possessing child abuse material.

The demise of People (and Picture) is due to a campaign by wowser activist group Collective Shout, which was also behind the unsuccessful campaign to ban Honey Birdette from shopping centres.

Now anyone over the age of 30 would know a rack of girlie mags in a servo is a fine Aussie tradition, along with pin-ups all over the walls in the workshop next door.

If it was just the petroleum giants on the receiving end of Collective Shout‘s campaign, I think they would have told them where to go; but fuel retailing has evolved into little more than an extension of Coles Express and Woolworths Metro, and these players have a reputation to protect. Hence People and Picture got evicted.

Report: Trump-Supporting Women Allegedly Abused at D.C. Event, Called ‘Nazis,’ ‘C*nts’ (16 Dec)

Attendees of a “high-profile Democrat wedding” stalked, harassed, and physically assaulted guests of an event hosted by Women for America First at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC, on Saturday, the pro-Trump group alleged in a press release issued late Monday evening.

Approximately 200 women attended the aforementioned Women for America First event — titled a Very MAGA Holiday Weekend — at the Willard Hotel. The alleged “high-profile Democrat wedding” took place in an adjacent ballroom.

This is a developing story. Women for America First has not yet stated the identities of the alleged attackers or whose wedding it allegedly was.

We shall see how the story turns out. Given the propensity for violence and hate from the Left for Trump supporters I would not be surprised if it occurred as described. There have been many, many assaults of Trump supporters by lefties. Why is that Numbers?

Well, we’ve spent two days desultorily searching for an igloo.

We bought one in Alaska this year, part of a Nativity Set in a shop in Sitka, opposite the rather glorious and extraordinary Russian Cathedral – a wooden Church with a very old interior, twice severely damaged by fire and much rebuilt. Some beautiful icons were in there and many other pieces of religious significance. A great deal was saved from both fires and is now on display around the walls and in display cases. They even have their own Saint, whom promises wonders for anyone in the world who wants his help. He was an extraordinary missionary and travelled 7500 miles to do his good works, especially for alcoholism amongst the inuit. He helps any alcoholic anywhere.

Anyway, our igloo finally turned up where I had secreted him under a gas-lift bed in a spare room. The igloo is half cut away, so that you can see inside and I’ve just had the serious pleasure of unwrapping all of the individual little items with which to fill the Igloo for an Eskimo Christmas. The littlies are going to love these: first, the animals, which are beautifull made and realistic. There’s a polar bear doing a low bow down, and I must clearly put him bowing towards the crib. A seated wolf looks very approachable, and a curved horn sort of furry goat-deer is also resting. Only the big horned moose is standing, his expression full of mooselike wonder. Then there are the human adorers: a bearded shepherd, no crook, just a staff, with the hood of his parka off. The three kings are all Inuit, one with a big fur collar, two wearing golden crowns of different designs, the third with his parka hood still up, signifying his journey. All three are carrying parcels, each one excitingly different in shape and presentation. Then there is the Christ Child in his crib, which is a sled (delightful!), on ice, and very warm and cosy he looks too, attended by his wide-eyed chubby-cheeked Inuit mother her fingertips joined in sheer delight. Ready to go on a little hook above the half-igloo is a little child Inuit angel, with hair plaits, a golden headband, shiny glittering white wings and white ugh boots with gold trim. She holds a banner in orange, upon which is clearly written her message in Latin: Gloria. Such care and thought has gone into this little scenario and I am proud to display it near the tree this Christmas.

I also unwrapped another purchase, half-forgotten. Santa Claus. The real one, aka St. Nicholas – carved in wood and with a sack of presents on his back. He is perfectly Russian, with his silver fox fur red hood and red skirt and cape, peasant-decorated by flowers shiny in the floral lacquered front of it, his beautiful blue waist sash a standout, his face perfectly picked out in blue-eyed splendor, his white and brown beard like no other Santa I’ve seen in our ersatz world.

I think I shall place him close to the igloo, where I feel he belongs.

Apparently Byron Bay, luvvie central, is full of boozehounds:

A new study shows Byron Bay, on the New South Wales north coast, is the boozing capital of Australia.

Researchers from the Mitchell Institute at the Victoria University found almost a third of people in the shire were drinking alcohol at risky levels.

The study used a definition of more than two standard drinks a day, although new guidelines released this week recommend no more than 10 drinks a week and no more than four a day.

Byron’s rate of 31.6 per cent was just ahead of Cottesloe in Perth, which recorded a risky-drinking rate of 31.5 per cent.

I saw the story about the ‘new guidelines’ and thought about posting a comment, but decided to have a drink instead. 🙂

The basic position of the nannies is that alcohol causes cancer, and everyone should abstain. Since this is not a popular position, they just ratchet down the ‘safe levels’ every couple of years, so that your Nan who has a couple of sherries of an evening is now a ‘dangerous drinker.’ Why, she has more than 10 standard drinks a week, the old lush!

I can see why living in politically correct Byron Bay would drive someone to drink, though.

I got the sense the Catallaxy wasn’t entirely unsympathetic to Collective Shout when it came to Honey Birdette, but this — from the same news.com.au article — might be some food for thought:

‘Collective Shout campaigns against the objectification of women and the sexualisation of girls and has been campaigning against the magazines and other titles for a decade.

It said it ran a successful campaign against ‘lads mag’ Zoo — another Bauer title — four years ago.

“Bauer has recognised that society has moved on,” Melinda Tankard Reist said, also of Collective Shout.

“These sexist titles cannot coexist in a society that claims to care about sexual harassment and other forms of mistreatment of women.

“The sexist behaviour of the St Kevin’s students just this week is a reflection of boys’ conditioning by a pornified culture. They learn early that women exist for their gratification. We can’t change behaviour without addressing the cultural normalising of it. A sexist culture grooms sexist boys.

“All the women and girls we represent thank Bauer Media for demonstrating corporate social responsibility. May other companies follow their lead.”’

Attributing what happened with the St Kevin’s students to People magazine is beyond ridiculous. These magazines are one of the few forms of pornography which is actually age-restricted!

This is what you end up with, with big government. Scrutiny 24/7. Unrelenting scrutiny.

Wealthy Australians pretending to be poor to avoid tax will be targeted by the Australian Taxation Office over the yachts, thoroughbred horses, fine art and luxury vehicles and aircraft they own.

The ATO on Wednesday revealed it would be probing more than 30 insurance companies about policies held by taxpayers, siphoning out details of so-called “lifestyle assets” which have values over certain thresholds as the government’s revenue agency looks to recoup the full legal tax and superannuation liabilities owed.

About 350,000 taxpayers are in the firing line by the ATO probe, which will help the agency find out who may be understating their income, misreporting GST credits, or who have made capital gains on selling items but have not properly declared it to the government.

ATO deputy commissioner Deborah Jenkins said profiling taxpayers and cross referencing assets such as private jets and yachts helped the agency build a better financial map of taxpayers compared to relying on what income is reported in tax returns.

“If a taxpayer is reporting a taxable income of $70,000 to us but we know they own a $3 million yacht then this is likely to raise some red flags,” Ms Jenkins said.

“Regardless of your level of wealth, we all need to pay the correct amount of tax, and this data will allow us to ensure those people who can afford these kinds of items are doing the right thing, along with everyone else,” she said.

READ MORE:Investors face taxing times in SMSF blitz|ATO to stop big funds milking ‘lost’ super cash|ATO at a loss over continuing losses
“Doing things like being untruthful about your income or failing to declare capital gains is effectively stealing from the community – and this is money the community is missing out on to pay for infrastructure and services we all rely on like schools, hospitals, and roads.”

As part of the probe, the ATO will get its hand on information relating to yachts worth more than $100,000, cars and horses more expensive than $65,000, fine art valued at more than $100,000, and aircraft worth more than $150,000.

The $65,000 threshold for cars is less than the threshold for the luxury car tax, which is $67,525 for the 2019-20 financial year.

Taxpayers who come clean before any ATO action can generally expect lower penalties and interest charges.

“With high value assets like fine art, there can be some significant capital gains made when these assets are sold, and capital gains tax may need to be paid on the sale or disposal of these items,” Ms Jenkins said.

If we discover incorrect GST input tax credit claims for items purchased for personal reasons, we’ll be following up and seeking full repayment on top of any applicable interest and penalties,” she said.

The fifth annual report on corporate tax transparency, published by the ATO last week, shows the government revenue agency is now drawing in an extra $7bn a year in sales income tax after multinationals were forced to restructure their businesses in the wake of new avoidance laws implemented in 2016.

The ATO said 92 per cent of corporate groups paid the maximum “theoretical tax payable” on a voluntary basis. This increased to 96 per cent after ATO compliance activity. That compares to a voluntary rate of 94 per cent for ordinary Australian taxpayers.

Not a week goes by that this agency isn’t threatening citizens. Think of the brazen attitude in that hellhole. It’s not your money, it’s the community’s.

Anytime someone here posts comments against libertarians/ those opposed to big government, spare a thought how this agency threatens citizens every week with press releases.

The display looks lovely on a little stand. And walking back through the kitchen I notice a rather small plastic sealable bag on the floor; hmmm, the sort of bag which gets emptied pronto of all grass clippings when brought home by teenagers of mine. But no. This one holds no such clippings. I pick it up and lo and behold, there is a mighty wooden spear. It is about three inches long, has a red tip looking quite lethal as it is very pointed, a real spear with a lacquered metal head, and it has a flower on it to reduce its impact. I examine my Nativity Set again, but see no holes anywhere for a spear to fit in. Then I remember St. Nick, and on close examination find there is a hole in his blue mitten, which awaits a spear. St. Nick is wandering through the forest and its dangers so of course the Inuit would not see him defenseless. Any sensible man carries a spear.

It is a little loose and I have fastened it in place with BluTak, such handy stuff. Pleased too that the little plastic bag was not other sorts of Glad Tidings.

Overland at least admitted he knew about gobbo but the one question that hasn’t been asked him is if she wasn’t snitching on her clients then who did he think she was snitching on? The office cleaner?
As for Nixon, claiming that she knew absolutely nothing about Gobbo is tempting to believe but OK then I would ask her alright when did you first find out about Gobbo. What was your reaction? What did you do next. Sometimes I think even the lawyers are hopeless.

Oh look. EV’s are faceplanting again. How really terrible. Greens will be weeping into their semillons.

China EV Sales Plunge In November Amid Turmoil In Global Auto Market (18 Dec)

New electric vehicle (EV) sales in China plunged in November for the fifth consecutive month, extending a decline that we’ve been highlighting for the past 1.5 years.

Last month, we noted how China’s EV bubble continues to deflate, mostly due to a reduction in government subsidies over the summer.

China’s EV slump in November was shocking, and sales plunged 43.7% on year to 95,000 units after October recorded one of the fastest declines for the year, reported China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

CAAM said last month that EV sales plunged 45% in October Y/Y.

“Because of the insufficient demand of the domestic market, the pressure for automakers to upgrade their technology to the national standard, and the major subsidy cuts for new energy vehicles, the recovery of production and sales is still limited,” said Chen Shihua, assistant secretary-general of CAAM.

‘Insufficient demand of the domestic market’? How can the proles be so inconsiderate of the planet!
But maybe nice Mr Xi should buy some electric buses for them.

Attempts To Use Electric Buses In Germany Flop…”Many Disadvantages”, “Short Service Life”, “No Real Progress” (17 Dec)

Tichy’s Einblick just recently reported on the results of attempted electric bus fleets across Germany. They are not pretty.

One example, Tichy’s Einblick cites, is German intercity bus carrier FlixBus, which worked with Greenpeace to promote the electric bus on the route between Mannheim and Frankfurt as a showcase project – all accompanied by ample fanfare and slogans such as “sustainable travel” and “the mobility of the future is green”.

But last April Greenpeace reported the discontinuation of the first nationwide electric long-distance bus line: “The long-distance bus provider announced on Wednesday that there had been repeated technical problems during the pilot project between Mannheim and Frankfurt with the vehicle of a Chinese manufacturer. These problems with the bus of Chinese manufacturer BYD must have been so massive that the project was suspended.”

Tichy’s Einblick reports the “only one thing that was really sustainable about the project was the disappointment of the travelers.”

Wiesbaden plans a total of 140 electric buses, all to be supported by 45 million euros in taxpayers’ money from the Federal Environment Ministry. Tichy’s Einblick reports that only the “flat inner city stretches are to be served” and that “they do not dare to venture onto the steeper streets on the outskirts.” … “A battery charge should last 150 kilometers, but less if the temperatures are freezing and the bus is full: 100 kilometers.” That would mean about 3 hours of service before a recharge becomes needed.

In the city of Nürtingen, “The electric bus pilot project is a flop,” says Tichy’s Einblick. “The battery on a bus was broken after two and a half years of operation, and a new one costs 80,000 euros. Too much – that’s why the operation is stopped.”

I do hope Number’s electric MX5 doesn’t suffer such a fate. What, it isn’t electric? How rude to Gaia!

I anticipate more entertaining headlines too from Glady’s fleet of battery operated trams. It will be very, very entertaining.

The BofBullshit has just told us that today was the hottest evah:

Tuesday was Australia’s hottest day on record, according to preliminary data from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).

The average maximum temperature across the country was 40.9 degrees Celsius, breaking the mark of 40.3C set in January 2013, but it’s a record unlikely to last for long.

Temperatures got up to well over 45C for much of the interior — the location record (50.7C at Oodnadatta) is still safe — but the wide spread of exceptional heat meant the national average record was broken.

The heat is expected to keep building over the next few days as the air mass moves across the country.

Having carefully expunged records from the Federation Drought, to pick one example, the junketeers at the BofBullshit are just making stuff up. BTW, does anyone know if they sent anyone at our expense to the failed (but no doubt enjoyable) jamboree in Spain?

Just for the record … no energy density problem if it ran for two years.

So give up on this “violates the laws of physics” garbage because from an energy density point of view this local transport (which is what most people want) is already fully operational.

If it’s use is not corrupted as it is now, “average temp” is useful as a proxy. It’s literally impossible to calculate a real average temp because you would require thermometers at every atom of space. However, we can use proxies with thermometers laid out sparsely and carefully that will provide a very rough approximation.

If we accept your stupid assertion then we can’t really measure any temp – not even for cities, which we use to help run our lives. This is grossly dense.

I’m not wearing a coat in NYC today because they haven’t given us the exact temperature on 48 street and Lex. It’s stoopid.

Trams took about 50 minutes to traverse the 12km route when it usually takes about 35 minutes on a bus on Saturdays.

Ms Berejiklian and other dignitaries took about 35 minutes on the first trip – but that was without the tram stopping for any passengers.

The only person making things up is the person who claimed the song chanted by the St Kevin’s boys is the consequence of modern ‘pornified culture’, itself allegedly the result of the proliferation of pornography on the internet dating from the mid-1990s onwards.

The song predates internet porn by at least a decade, if not several decades. I recall it being sung, well more chanted, in the 1980s — other Cats might be able to date it from even earlier. It’s not the product of a ‘pornified culture’; it is, to be honest, the product of what we, north of the Murray, would call the rah-rah culture.

Either way, the song and the behaviour cannot be the result of something — internet porn — which didn’t exists until years later. Attributing the former to the latter and its creation of a ‘pornified culture’ is indeed beyond ridiculous.
