The coronavirus propaganda war

If any facts have actually been established they are that the CV originated in Wuhan, China and that the Chinese authorities suppressed all information about its existence and its pandemic potential until eventually it had spread across the world. Another fact I will add is that the Chinese government is a totalitarian state in which all media is controlled. One should also bear in mind China’s social credit system if you are thinking about the way things are done in the People’s Republic. This is from The Age: The war within the war over coronavirus.

Five weeks into the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan, the World Health Organisation’s director general paid a visit to Beijing to understand the situation in China.

At the conclusion of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ January 29 meeting with Xi Jinping in the Great Hall of the People, the Chinese government issued a statement.

“Hailing the high speed and massive scale of China’s moves […] rarely seen in the world, Tedros said it showed China’s efficiency and the advantages of China’s system,” the statement said. “The experience of China is worth learning for other countries…”

The endorsement of “China’s system” was incongruous: the Chinese Communist Party initially sought to hide the outbreak in Wuhan and punish the doctors who tried to raise the alarm.

By the time China’s government admitted the outbreak was happening, it had gone global. Now governments worldwide are on a “war” footing to contain the pandemic that has infected half a million people worldwide, killed more than 23,000 and threatens to destroy economies from the inside.

That is exactly how I understand what happened. The rest of the article is about how China and the US have engaged in a battle to determine who is at fault. As noted in the article:

Beijing has dialled up the volume and variety of messaging on coronavirus through diplomatic channels, state media and social media for weeks, to deflect blame for the outbreak and to try to position itself in the world’s eyes as the competent, generous problem-solver.

A quite interesting article from end to end with this as the conclusion:

Should China succeed in the global propaganda war around coronavirus, as it appears to be attempting, the CCP will have achieved a revision of history in real-time on the screens of social media users everywhere.

But this would be ironic, because as Bandurski says: “we cannot, or should not, forget the fact that the Chinese Communist Party’s obsession with perception over truth was actually how the saga of this global pandemic began.”

An obsession with the perception of truth is the farthest thing in the world from an obsession with actually knowing the truth. News media that present the Chinese side and slag Donald Trump’s efforts in America are no friends of our democratic and open way of life.

Chinese authorities suppressed — agree, nothing new here, they do it all the time, much more than western nations

that the CV originated in Wuhan, China — probably —

but nothing is going to help us by blaming all people for this.
    National guilt is baloney

I don’t think anyone has a real idea until they watch this on HighWire. Long and impressive, it’s the only thing Scott Morrison should listen to today. We’ve been had.

The flu almost always comes out of China. It’s part of an agricultural cycle: ducks => pigs => humans. The killer begins in the intestine of a duck, which flies across rural China spreading the virus. Pigs eat the plants, and humans eat the pig. The virus mutates. It becomes a threat to men.

If China does succeed in the propaganda war it will be entirely due to the Western MSM, particularly in the USA, which will be not a little ironic.

The Chicoms are guilty. Gullible twits like you want them to get away with it.

Here: it’s pretty well established they lied.

We must all learn some clear truths here like how China is trying for world domination in trade via One belt One road plan, If you don’t know what it is search for it. They also intend to spread their brand of totalitarian Communism throughout the world, they already have the Democrats totally subservient to them in the USA. China has deep links to the horrifying Communist disaster with Maduro in Venezuela.
The Chinese people were most likely carriers of the Wuhan Virus to Northern Italy via their very close connection to the rich rag trade in the country, some reports claim 300,000 people from China in that area and direct air links to Wuhan.
They have huge numbers of “Uni” students here in Oz at our Universities which are almost all Marxist. My question. why are they actually here? Last year we had politicians exposed over Chinese interaction, most probably just the tip of the iceberg. We need to bring our manufacturing home, like Trump is trying to do in America. I personally am no longer buying China made anything, if I can’t find it from somewhere else I will go without, definitely no Vietnam either as they are the same ilk.

    Perception over truth.
Just like our Governments’ reaction to the virus. At least it has had the megalomaniac control freaks show their true colours.

    Fixed!

So are we going to accept that Wuhan just happens to be the location of China’s first level 4 (the highest there is) virus research laboratory? Seems too coincidental to me. I read somewhere that laboratory workers were caught selling the animals used in experiments to the local food markets. Why incinerate them when they could make a nice ferret stirfry?

This is unquestionably the case. Unquestionably.

    Qualifications + citizenship.
I’ve had them as staff over a decade ago, just as the ponzi was starting up.

… and that the Chinese authorities suppressed all information about its existence …

With help from their stooges at the WHO … then went on to demand that governments keep borders open and now want to obscure the origin. Dreadful, the UN needs to be held to account here, because many people would sensibly treat information from Beijing with skepticism while the UN is in a key position of international trust.

We must expect that national governments will be following their respective national interests but a central organization such at the UN can only be allowed to continue to operate so long as they are not captured.

News media that present the Chinese side and slag Donald Trump’s efforts in America are no friends of our democratic and open way of life.

So you support Trump’s record breaking spending spree and threats of the government “buying controlling interest” in private companies, as well as lying about having the virus “under control” and so on, but you’re concerned about China because it’s a totalitarian state?

Also, your defense of Trump regardless of accuracy is pretty good imitation of state controlled media but you’re concerned that China’s information might not be accurate because they have state controlled media?

    Hmm.

  15. Paul

the communist Chinese let the Wuhan virus loose on the World and are now trying to not just cover it up but to

position itself in the world’s eyes as the competent, generous problem-solver

The communists refusal to acknowledge any accidental release of the virus can only mean one thing, a deliberate release.

With the US elections coming up, and the desire for the socialist demorats to damage Trumps great economic work, there is the opening for

    whatever it takes

Hubby made that vow several years ago after Chinese tools proved consistently to be rubbish. The only difficulty is finding tools, that despite being branded european, american or even aussie, are actually manufactured in China.

It is very very hard to find women’s clothes made of decent fabric, and they are invariably of Chinese manufacture.

“Should China succeed in the global propaganda war around coronavirus, as it appears to be attempting, the CCP will have achieved a revision of history in real-time on the screens of social media users everywhere.”

That success will only be achieved in the West with the assistance of useful idiots who care more for their pathetic ideological and cultural obsessions than for the fate of the nations which harbour them.

    The Business Insider informs us:

3711 were in an incubator on the cruise ship Diamond Princess, berthed at Yokohama, Japan,
1850 with existing medical issues that weaken their immune system
705 people were infected with Covid-19,
4 people in their 80s died, 1 person in 70s, 1 person age unspecified.
3006 people, the vast majority, remain uninfected by the virus.

The following is from the Business Insider report How the ‘failed’ quarantine of the Diamond Princess cruise ship started with 10 coronavirus cases and ended with more than 700

The 14-day stipulation…of the cruise-ship quarantine was ill-conceived, and the resultant slew of infections it spawned was completely predictable,” Dr. Amesh Adalja, Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.
When it docked in Yokohama, the cruise ship Diamond Princess had 3,711 crew members and guests.
1,850 people on board (who had not expected to be on the ship for so long) had requested and received more prescription medications, while quaratined on the ship. “From a virologist’s perspective, a cruise ship with a large number of persons on board is more an incubator for viruses rather than a good place for quarantine,”

    Anne Gatignol, a microbiologist.
They have basically trapped a bunch of people in a large container with [the] virus,”

David Fisman, an epidemiology professor at the University of Toronto, told Vox. “So [I’m] assuming ‘quarantine’ is generating active transmission.”

3711 people are quarantined in an incubator. 1850 people need medications for ongoing health ailments that they had prior to boarding the cruise ship. From all the hype, we would expect that all the 3711 passengers and crew die.

According to the Business Insider, the deaths are as follows:

Japanese officials announced the first two deaths on February 18. The passengers – an 87-year-old Japanese man and an 84-year-old Japanese woman – were taken to local hospitals on February 11 and 12, and both had underlying health issues, The New York Times reported, citing the Japanese broadcaster NHK.

The third death was a Japanese man in his 80s who’d been among the first cases on the ship, The fourth death, was a man from Tokyo in his 80s.

On Friday 21st, two more people died: a Tokyo woman in her 70s and a UK manof unspecified age.
Japan’s Ministry of Health reported that 705 people from the ship had contracted the virus, as well as one quarantine officer who worked on the ship.
Six people die and 700 people were infected with the virus.

240 crew members who had tested negative were to undergo another 14 days of quarantine

Pulmonologist Wolgang Wodarg speaks about the Italian situation and some critical information here.

The Australian government is being irresponsible not taking this into consideration nor the fact
Dr Vladimir Zelenko reports that hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc effectively cured 350 patients of the COVID-19 symptoms within hours.  Combined with azithromycin, hydroxychoroquine also cures patients.

Killing the economy is something we can expect from totalitarian socialists in the Labor governments and Green Party. When a government, which purportedly believes in helping little Johnny Howard’s battlers, decides to kill small businesses and destroy the economy with USSR/China totalitarian lock-downs, or the equivalent, we know that they do not deserve to be in government.

Every politician and public servant and all other agents that are profiting from this shutdown or is not feeling the pain of those who have lost their incomes through forced closures, ought to be financially scalped. As it stands, government employees earn $306.20 more on average than people in the private sector.

They have huge numbers of “Uni” students here in Oz at our Universities which are almost all Marxist. My question. why are they actually here?

They are here to get permanent residency and then citizenship. The universities are simply visa factories, everybody passes because the new assessment system is heavily reliant on group work where one good student does the work and everyone in the group shares in the marks. The good students are being exploited by our immoral universities to harvest the international fees and get the federal funding as well. They justify it on the grounds that the international students fees are subsidising domestic students when in fact the taxpayers are doing so.

I was shocked when during the recent Gladys Liu debacle we found out there were one and a half million Chinese with Australian citizenship. When and how did that happen when only a decade or so ago there were only about two hundred thousand?

A work colleague who went on holiday to US last year brought back a heap of tools which he packed throughout the family luggage to distribute the weight. He said he was happy to pay the price to get good quality tools.

The Age article linked to is so padded with obligatory anti-Trumpery that it’s obscuring the real story.

Interesting to see that most commentators seem aware of this.

“I personally am no longer buying China made anything”

    Ditto. China is over.

And of course we’ll be accused of racism. But many of the best-known “Chinese” firms are actually Taiwanese (Acer, Asus, D-Link, Foxconn, Gigabyte, HannStar, Thermaltake, UMAX…). They often use mainland manufacturing plants, so I’ll be checking the “Made In” labels very carefully, however otherwise I have no problem with them. On the contrary: Taipei needs our support against the lying, murderous cretins of Peking.
