If this is true then we have reached the point where people in Government / Treasury have lost all concept of money. Just crazy.

Common sense would be a pro rata payment based on what worker was earning before this started.

Remains to be seen if this will be the case.

Increased social isolation to combat COVID-19 in NSW could shift the peak period of infection to early October with intensive care units at their busiest in mid-November, expert modelling suggests.

But even if restrictions on movement reduce the reproduction rate to 1.6 – meaning each individual with the disease infects 1.6 others – the state’s ICU capacity could still be overwhelmed, an article published in the Medical Journal of Australia on Monday finds.

“Under the scenario of increased social isolation, the peak infection will shift to early October and peak ICU utilisation will shift to mid-November and would be around one-third the size of the business-as-usual peak,” the authors write.

At that point, some five per cent of the population could be symptomatic, with more than 14,000 people in hospital across NSW and 5100 patients in intensive care.

Ok, had to read it carefully, but they’re saying if we did nothing 45000 people would need to be hospitalized and 15300 people would need ICU in NSW alone by early July.

All that says is that the powers that be in a 6 month period couldn’t do what’s required to manage that exorbitant modelled number.

The amount of duplication at state and federal level in the PS, an inability to employ our defence forces on medical grounds, an inability despite modelling as above to stop overseas travel and control those who do enter, piss poor implementation of every other policy that has been thrown up, the greatest minds of bureacracy on the job after decades of hyped up viral threats and the best we can do is make citizens prisoners in their own homes and set fire to the one thing that pays for all of this shit, the private sector. Best pray that Anne and her mates are correct on a grand conspiracy scale, the truth may be a lot worse.

All this talk of lock-down and ‘tougher measures’ coming, while at the same time saying this a ‘guideline’.

People are terrified. I am shocked at the number of people I know who a rea terrified to leave their house (not even to go on the footpath). People who think they are not allowed to go anywhere. What worries me most is the number of people who are putting off regular (but necessary) medical treatment, including psychological. How many elderly and other shut ins at the moment are not following through with necessary treatments and medications? How many are going without necessary groceries? How many people put out of work by this government are going without these things. And from the people I know who have tried can’t get any of the government’s so called ‘stimulus’ or aid can’t, because the public service is working at it’s usual bureaucratic efficiency but with 100 times the amount of work. Or this is no actual framework beyond Scott Morrison’s grand standing press releases.

However I do note you picked as your example the poor traffic controller who was on $7.200 per week. My view on that is it is a rort to start with. Good example of Unions putting up cost of everything. Queens Wharf construction pay is one of the biggest rip offs going.

“The proposal from another commenter was that everyone be paid a percentage of their previous earnings.
How about the traffic controller on the Queens Wharf job who did 60 hours and grossed $7.2, took home $4.7? Lets say Palaczszuk shuts Queens Wharf down.

For skeptics, here is remarkable statistics from the state of NY

It has close to 1000 covid19 deaths, close to 90% of them in the last week.

Want to compare with flu? US had about 22,000 influenza deaths the 2019-2020 season. In promotion to population it would be about 1,500 for NY. Or about 15 deaths per week on average (assuming 100 days flu season).

The were over 750/15=50 times more Covid19 deaths in the NY state in the last week than in an average flu week.

Those who think it is like a flu, think again.

Another remarkable statistic is that NY has tested far more than any other state and 1/3 has come out positive. That is remarkable statistic. Australia has done a similar number of tests and the rate of positive tests is about 1-2%.

  201. BorisG

Sorry that was brain fart. Average flu week would be 75 deaths, Covid 19 numbers would be ‘only’ 10 times greater.

It looks like they’re trying to crash the economy. It doesn’t look like anything else.

Now you’re getting it, Winston. But things need to get a bit grimmer first. Then, when things are at their darkest, that’s when we’ll “discover” the three plus trillion dollars lying around, doing nothing at zero interest rates, in superannuation funds. Then we will be so grateful to our “saviour” government.

The unions will be happy since they control two thirds of the super funds, or $2 trillion and they will collect various fees as money is transferred. The banks will be happy since they control $1 trillion of it, and all three trillion will pass through them on its way to and from “infrastructure expenditure”. The politicians will be happy since they will be able to play Santa Klaus with a near endless supply of OPM. But will the minions really be happy, being legally robbed of their life savings?

Who gives a stiff shit? That’s what the Martial Law and troops are for.

All that is left now is the implementation of the Cash Restrictions Bill. After all, you can’t have the minions spending their own money however they like. Just because they worked for it and paid taxes on it doesn’t mean they be able to just spend it. Can’t possibly run a planned economy on that basis.

Some months ago in a discussion about George Pell and the verdict my brother’s partner who is not a lawyer, is not a Catholic, is not really religious and knows nothing about the rituals and rites of Solemn Mass celebrated by the Archbishop, said the verdict was a travesty because there was reasonable doubt.

My brother on the other hand who is a Catholic and was an altarboy thought Pell was guilty. When I asked him to think back on when he was an altarboy, how busy was the sacristy — he said people were coming and going all the time — and I said that was in little ol’ WestBandyWallup, a town of 1,ooo people — imagine what it would be like in a cathedral then went on to recite the facts of what Pell was supposed to be accused of —- well he conceded it couldn’t have happened. Bingo

I have another sibling who is a wealthy ABC-watching/listening ranting zealot, so I never broach the subject of George Pell lest I unleash an ear-splitting tirade which is just depressing. T

When the subject of George Pell came up with yet another sibling and the facts were gone through the response was to the effect — anyway he should be in gaol for all the other terrible things that were done by others — well I then lost my lolly and went on my own rant ending with — there was one person crucified for the sins of others — do we need to continue with that tradition —

So three out of four of my siblings believe that Pell was railroaded but the fact I had to convince them is telling of how the malicious the media campaign has been and how many unthinking people swallow whole the lies and distortions.

Here is a Russian dude with good control of the FAL & he shoots up his own pickup truck:

That’s actually “FPS Russia”, an American. He got taken down by the ATF and did jail time.

Watch his videos on getting taken down and his time in jail. In addition to his shooting videos!

What does that make the selection panel who chose him?

    Leadership potential for the ADF.

If they go that path they will discover there aren’t “dollars lying around”, there are illiquid assets that cannot be converted at short notice into money. Even the nominal cash balances in the Super funds can’t all be drawn on the same day … it would be equivalent to a run on the banks. The whole lot had been set for long term payback. Trying to redeploy this at short notice would be an unmitigated economic disaster.
