How things change

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, 10 September 2018:

Climate change is the defining issue of our time – and we are at a defining moment.

We face a direct existential threat.

Climate change is moving faster than we are – and its speed has provoked a sonic boom SOS across our world.

If we do not change course by 2020, we risk missing the point where we can avoid runaway climate change, with disastrous consequences for people and all the natural systems that sustain us.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, 31 March, 2020:

Covid-19 is the greatest test that we have faced together since the formation of the United Nations …

The new coronavirus disease is attacking societies at their core, claiming lives and people’s livelihoods …

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, sometime in the future:

The asteroid that is heading to the Earth is projected to kill all humanity. It is a true existential crisis. I apologise for not advocating for sufficient protection against a meteorite strike on the Earth.

But the formation of the United Nations likely remains the greater threat.

OK, perhaps I have been reading this wrong.

Are you saying the UN is not a comedy troupe?

  4. Professor Fred Lenin

Re phrase that comrade wossisname of the untidy nayshuns thus :
Globalism in all its forms is the greatest threat to people’s freedom since the socialists Hitler , Stalin and Soros , we must unite to defeat this evil threat to humanity.
    There that fixed that !

  5. Anthony

In all seriousness tho. We should probably have an asteroid deflection capability.

  6. The UN is a rogue public service bureaucracy that is too busy serving itself to serve the public. It has no constraints, no oversight, and no accountability.

    LOL.
    They’re utterly shameless.
But, for them, it’s a lucrative racket.

Think of all the other pronouncements about “Climate Change” and insert “COVID-19.

    For example:

”My three goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with its full complement of species, returning throughout the world.” David Foreman, co-founder of Earth First! (Apparently the universal cure is mass slaughter).

A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.” Ted Turner, Founder of CNN and major UN donor. (More of the above).

”Unless we announce disasters no one will listen.” Sir John Houghton, First chairman of the IPCC (SOP)

It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.” Paul Watson, Co-founder of Greenpeace. (The hypnotized never “lie”)

”We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation” See also every “crisis” since whenever)

No matter if the science of global warming is all phony… climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.” Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment. (That’s nice; an “honest” politician)

”The only way to get our society to truly change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe.” Emeritus Professor Daniel Botkin

”Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?” Maurice Strong, Founder of the UN Environmental Program

”Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control.” Professor Maurice King.

”I suspect that eradicating small pox was wrong. it played an important part in balancing ecosystems.” John Davis, Editor of Earth First! Journal.

How many of these names and “organizations” are also popping up regarding this FluHan caper?

George Soros’ was mentioned earlier. Just wondering, how much of his fortune has he donated to funding research into the virus?

Ironic then that UN personnel in NYC are experiencing lockdown, ditto the Doctors Cruise people – getting a bit of a feel for what they want to have happen world-wide.

I see Bob Carr has a piece in the SMH this morning trying to get us back on track…or something like that. It’s titled “Beneath the virus lurks a bigger emergency, but the world is distracted from the climate threat”, so you can guess the topic.
As expected he laments lost time in the climate fight.
One good piece of news is that the next global climate junket (Glasgow) is likely to be canned.

I have “borrowed” some of those quotes to place them over ar donaitkin.com.

    Thanks.

  18. Hello Bruce
    Thank you for this quote

“My three goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with its full complement of species, returning throughout the world.” David Foreman, co-founder of Earth First! ”

I have a response to this line of thinking

Those two quotes from the Secretary-General underline what a hopeless waste of time the U.N. is and why we should resign our membership. Guterres can’t tell the difference between his arse and his elbow and he heads an organisation that is is useless, corrupt, self serving and unnecessary.
