It was about now, one year ago, that ALP talking heads on television were going pale.

And MSM ABC have never accepted it.

  2. mh

And the Coalition leading in today’s Newspoll.

  3. Pedro the Loafer

The schadenfreude was strong that evening, my friends.

  4. Bruce of Newcastle

I do not “form” a turd. By the same equation the ALP would not “form” a government.

  5. vlad

Antony Green called it for the LNP around 9.04 pm and Barrie Cassidy went into full-scale panic mode.

I only wish I’d recorded it.

  6. Zulu Kilo Two Alpha

Chloe Shorten must have been furious. The household packed up to do the removal, the truck booked, the guest lists drawn up..

As I understand it she’s only packed about half the house. 🙂

    Since we’re on this, this:

Coalition rides wave of support as fears subside (Paywallian, today)

Popular support for the Coalition has climbed to its highest level since September last year ahead of the Eden-Monaro by-election.

Excrete as you will Albo, but you may as well be in Biden’s basement. Even the MSM isn’t listening to you, which is really saying something.

  9. yarpos

I was watching a channel that had the over confident and strident Penny Wong on commentating. It was great viewing.

  10. Shy Ted

It is a Labor government, it’s just spelled LNP.

  11. It is a Labor government, it’s just spelled LNP.

    Factcheck status:
    100% True.

  12. NoFixedAddress

Well they cured the TB now they have to fix the Psoriasis

  13. Squirrel

“Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.” – as Churchill pithily put it in The Story of The Malakand Field Force.

  14. So we got cancer instead of a heart attack.
    Great.
    Let’s all celebrate.

  15. miltonf

It is a Labor government, it’s just spelled LNP.

Because the pollie muppets are just sock puppets for the deep state that is the Canberra swamp.

  16. Gorgiasl

The ALP is not counting on winning next time around, they have already written it off. Albo’s just keeping the seat warm for a female candidate in 5 years. The left intend to push Plibersek which is the reason the right created a soft spot for Keneally.

  17. mundi

The quiet Australians were acknowledged for about 1 nanoseconds by the left, then ignored again continually for the rest of the year.

  18. Big deal!
I am sure a lot of people voted for ‘the lesser of 2 evils’ option and pinched their noses while they voted.

Libs lost my vote 2 elections ago and won’t be getting my vote again for the foreseeable future. If the majority continue to vote for either party A or party B nothing will change. Both parties are parasites. We have to look for alternatives to the current rabble that is being presented to us.

  19. Tim Neilson

I am sure a lot of people voted for ‘the lesser of 2 evils’ option and pinched their noses while they voted.

No doubt it says little about my political judgement that I didn’t really mind voting for ScoMo – I would have voted for Jack the Ripper’s more sociopathic twin brother against Peanut Head.

    But not for Mick Trumble.

In 2016 I just scrawled anti-Mick Trumble obscenities on the HoR ballot paper and voted minority parties in the Senate.

I was told that I was wasting time writing because Photios Party scrutineers wouldn’t see my comments. But if enough of us do it, surely it would be remarked upon and become known about. Then surely even the Photios Party would eventually have to pay attention – or would they just conclude that they had to go harder left to attract more woke votes?

May do the same in 2022, anyway.

  20. a reader

A brave leader would realise that the covid cockup is an opportunity for real reform and do something about it. I mean like actual balls-like Churchill or Thatcher or Menzies. I don’t mean Sir Humphrey’s brave leader

  21. Win

Well I voted for Dutton he is local and has a sense of humour.Driving past he was sitting on the pavement holding court for any who wanted to talk to him in my case it was council which he pointed out he was Federal but I pointed out his councillor was my councillor. I did get in the GST and the fact we pay China who has taken our work does not.

  22. Herodotus

Labor has learned just as much from that defeat as they did from previous ones.
    Nothing.

  23. AC

So great watching Jane Caro’s twitter meltdown the day after – such a lightweight!!

Could someone remind PVO that his anti conservative articles in The Australian are about as useless and relevant as his 50 degrees.

  24. sfw

I really doubt that Shorten and his idiots would be much worse than Morrison and his idiots. Double dole, handouts to almost everyone except the small business self employed and continuation of the money supply to all the lefties in the education and arts etc.

    Nope we’re doomed.

  25. Ed Case

Labor was in 6 years 2007-13 and never raised the dole once.
They wouldn’t have this time either if they had gotten the chance.
Scotty has helped small business access $20 grand of their Super, Labor were never going to do that.

I was told that I was wasting time

I did more than that. I wrote to my local member (who was an Abbott supporter) well before an election was called, that I and many others I knew would never vote for an LNP led by Turdball. Whether that had any effect I don’t know, but I felt better afterwards.

  27. Sydney Boy

I though Australian “celebrities” were going to move to New Zealand. Just like American “celebrities” were going to move to Canada. As far as I know, no Australians. Over to New Zealand, and the only people to move to Canada were Harry and the Harpy.
    #stillyourpresident
    #still yourprimeminister

  28. And speaking of Turdball. Does anyone remember him saying that were he to lose the leadership position, he’d retire from Parliament and have nothing to do with politics again (having a go at Abbott).

His actual deeds vs words once again shows what an utterly despicable person he is.

  29. H B Bear

After Abbott got elected I thought that no one was unelectable. Peanut Head proved me wrong (thankfully).

  30. Ed Case

After seeing that vid of Peanuthead with Arnie the other day, he’s got a real talent for deadpan humor.
Perhaps if Labor had promoted him the same way then that they’re promoting Angry Ant Albo now…

  31. johno

It’s about now that many quite Australians are gong pale at the damage wrought by Morrison.

  32. yarpos

“So we got cancer instead of a heart attack.
    Great.
    Let’s all celebrate.”

Are you actually capable of celebrating Rusty? or must the hand wringing continue?

  33. Iampeter

Ah yes. Leftists vs leftists. I wonder who will win?

Actually I’m not sure it’s fair to conflate Labor leftists with “Liberal” leftists.
Labor didn’t cook up half the disastrous left wing policies destroying our country, they weren’t even in office.

  34. H B Bear

Has ‘Ol Leathery ever called an election correctly? Prof van Wrongselen gets a free pass because no one watches Channel 10.

  35. Diogenes

I was told that I was wasting time writing because Photios Party scrutineers wouldn’t see my comments.

When I was deputy PPM & Polling Place Manager I had my staff collect all the informals, as you are supposed to do, I then made sure the scrutineers saw them, to agree they were indeed informal. I know some of the feedback was passed along with the numbers to party headquarters.

  36. Bad Samaritan

Iampeter (8.46am) Correct this time (broken clock and blind squirrels etc…)

Australia was in the perfect position to really do well. A hot country with very low-density population: an island with no land borders to control….and far from the outbreak sources, while equipped with high quality medical facilities.

Instead the f*wit National Cabinet acted as if Oz is a freezing-cold northern hemisphere shytehole; everybody jammed into tiny houses on tiny streets; all furiously smoking and spitting totally surrounded by already-infected millions. In other words: took over workplaces and did the usual socialist thing: order everyone around and split the wealth they’d been plundering from the productive to give to lotsa bludgers and also to those who might resent being impoverished by them.

ScoMO and gang are fascists. Fascists are leftists. Do, you’re 100% correct that it’s “rock vs hard place” time!

  37. Young Freddy

I must admit my faith failed and I sent out that night and only got home just before the stations were wrapping up their coverages, so I missed the greatest night’s TV in decades. These brief clips are great, but the whole ABC coverage would be so good to watch. Does such a thing exist anyone?

  38. Ed Case

Has ‘Ol Leathery ever called an election correctly?

Not while there’s still 2 hours til close of voting in W.A. and 30 minutes in S.A..
Once the early Tas. numbers came thru he would’ve known Labor weren’t gonna get up, say by ten past six Eastern Time.

  39. Young Freddy

I found it, 6 hours of fun and laughter.

  40. Iampeter

Iampeter (8.46am) Correct this time (broken clock and blind squirrels etc…)

Well, if I’m only correct in this one case then it’s not clear what your issue is.
You seem to only oppose leftism and fascism in just this case, as opposed to consistently on all the issues.

  41. H B Bear

What a complete and utter lightweight Annabel Crabb is. Unemployable outside the sheltered workshop.

  42. Patty Duke

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this video. I didn’t bother watching on election night as i was sure Labor was going to win and couldn’t bear to witness the self-congratulation and smugness so was very glad of this opportunity.

Loved seeing all the stunned, glum expressions on the faces of the so called impartial hacks at the ABC, especially Barrie Cassidy. I remember someone describing his face as looking like a deflated football bladder! LOL!

  43. Tom

Hi, Patty. As an infant, I loved your show and had a crush on you.
