San Quentin prison at the beginning of this century probably provides de-balling for free to all wannabe ladies. Interesting how a vile experiment morphs into a valuable requirement for self respect, or something.

Failfox’s recent garbage performance is attributed to *DNS over https*. This protocol is not only bad news for you, it allows for a curated net.

Apparently you can disable this but it basically is a political deal and makes a CloudFlare a quasi monopolost; as well as it hands data straight to the spooks.

I know it’s getting more common, but was unaware of all the issues – initial page access may be a little slow, p1ssing off users?

On Indians, will just add the Parish Priest in Singleton is of Indian origin. Sermon at Christmas had a few references to Ghandi then he mentioned a anecdote from his upbringing, after that I worked out his background. There is a pretty large Christian minority in India apparently.

My mother is Catholic. comes from a large devout Catholic family. The local church is where St. Thomas (Doubting Thomas) is buried. Longer history of Christianity in India than most parts of the world.

Could my open conservatism too off-putting for the modern LNP?

Cardi, we know Lib Insider lurks here so it would be guaranteed there would be some sort of surveillance by the party machine of more popular blogs of the right of centre.

Hope I am wrong but LNP IMO will get flogged again in the north especially round Townsville. Most swings against 4 years ago were in double figures against lacklustre sitting members. PHON & Katter stole a lot of votes but the ALP members held on. They seem to be standing better candidates this time with substance over youth or media presence in Townsville & Mundingburra. However Hinchinbrook have gone with someone from Bushland Beach who I doubt will win over Ingham & anywhere north of Yabulu. Haven’t even bothered with Thuringowa yet yet Harper has been underwhelming at least for a while and ripe for the picking.

I expect that it’s about Labor having no interest in the working class and aligning itself with the bureaucratic class.

I hate to break it to some cucks here, but Indians don’t share your “just agree with my current politics” litmus test for what makes a nation.

This may come as a suprise but they’re an actual nation and race in and of themselves, they might not want to be your little cats paw for political war against the ALP, perhaps they’re dreaming of bigger things for their people than being tame white conservative’s obedient house boys.

Plus they have a built in easily exploitable grudge against white people for colonialism, importing them in any large quantity at this moment is lunacy.

US protests: Democrats fail black voters and blame othersGerard Baker

    The Times
    19 minutes ago June 4, 2020
    No Comments

George Floyd. Eric Garner. Freddie Gray. Rodney King. The baleful list of the names of black men killed or brutalised by police in America is long and too familiar. So too the list of cities where these and other acts occurred, cities now engulfed in protest and mayhem: Minneapolis. New York. Baltimore. Los Angeles.

These places have something else in common. Every one of them is controlled by the Democratic Party. Not just recently, or narrowly, or tenuously. Like almost all big cities in America where most instances of racial tension have occurred of late, they are citadels of one-party rule.

Minneapolis, where Floyd was killed, has had a Democrat mayor for the past 42 years. There hasn’t been a single Republican elected to the city council there in the 21st century. The last time a Republican was mayor of Baltimore, Lyndon Johnson was president. Fourteen of the 15 members of the Los Angeles council are Democrats. The other is an independent. In New York at the last council elections in 2017, Republicans celebrated inroads into the Democrat majority — they won four seats against the Democrats’ 47.

In America, states and cities have a large measure of autonomy. They have extensive revenue-raising powers through a range of taxes: property, business, sales and, in some cities, personal income tax. Directly elected mayors, in concert with councils, control vast budgets with authority in most municipalities over housing, education, urban development, fire and, of course, the police.

Police chiefs are in most cases appointed directly by the mayor and are supervised by and accountable to him or her. For decades these Democrat cities have had, in other words, near complete responsibility for the staffing, policies and performance of their police forces. If the mayor of Minneapolis and the city council that aligns with him had chosen, they could have transformed the police department. If they were alarmed about systemic abuse by police, about racist attitudes and behaviour, they’ve had more than 40 years to put them right. They could have replaced the entire force with black officers if they’d wanted to.

And yet, in the safe hands of a party that protests its absolute support for eradicating inequality and protecting minorities, we still get cases like that of Floyd and the others. How can this be? In part, it’s because Democrat politicians know that, whatever the shortcomings of their policies, they have a handy narrative to deflect responsibility. It’s always easy to blame racist white cops, “systemic racism” in the nation, the legacy of slavery and generations of inequality. They know a complaisant media will, as it has done with particular alacrity in the past week, buy into and promote the idea that when a black man is killed by a police officer it’s nothing to do with the authorities who appointed, trained and now regulate that police officer, but somehow the fault of Republicans in Washington, or some nebulous threat of white supremacy.

    From the Oz.

  38. Nick

Disagree. So what if they name their suburb, they know what is expected of them. Their loyalty is firstly to their family and their families loyalty is not always to the country they happen to live in.

There’s a certain mental sickness in people who want to import masses of an alien nation of people (from a chauvinistic billion person nation which is currently undergoing a nationalistic expansionist revival), into the heart of their own in the hope that those people will act as an obedient bloc and fight for them in domestic politics, in a way they themselves won’t and that will turn out just fine.

Until 2020 we used to call those people communists.

I ahve a samsung 4 door fridge. I didnt hook the ice maker up til couple years ago, the fridge is maybe three years old. Anyway like all Samsung fridges, the ice maker keeps freezing up. Drove me mad. The internet is littered with people crying about this.

I found this vid from parts dr who saved my fridge’s icemaker life.

BUT I have to do this every 6-8 weeks. So Samsung are going to send out a technician and I am liable for his time and travel if he sees anything not Samsung, he cant find a fault or he sees I have misused it in any way. If not, Samsung pay.

Would taking the ice maker out as per this vid constitute that?

the Samsung fridge is maybe three years old.

We too bought a Samsung Fridge 2 years ago… and the same story. We went on hols for 6 weeks, came back, and the internet saved the day as it allowed me to figure out how to de-ice a super stuck freezer bin. But then we had an extended power outage and (even though I cleaned out the tray and dried it out), it just seized up after the power came back on and I could not for the life of me pull out that ice making gizmo.

Didn’t want to break it with too much force, and as the fridge was just over a year old at that time, called Samsung for the technician came out, who came, (my wife said he didn’t say much apart that it was a known issue), replaced something and it’s been right as rain.

You seem remote. An option to consider? Call Samsung and explain the situation and if they say it will not be covered by the warranty, then maybe you can negotiate for them to send you just the replacement (fixed) part. At least you take out the travel expenses out of the equation. [No idea on cost of that part – but given you have been pulling out the freezer unit etc … you should have half an idea how it works (or maybe the local plumber / gadget man can help)]

Yellow tailed black cockies really have a taste for pinus radiata cones, so their mass plantings may have something to do with it.

Indeed. But the Carnaby’s cockies are white-tailed, and allegedly have been struggling with loss of habitat, usual feed sources, etc. And yet, over Southern Perth and Northern areas like Whiteman Park, I see ever more of them. Supposedly the closing down of the Gnangara Pine Plantation was disastrous, as they were all in there eating the pine seeds.

Both types are spectacular to watch feeding, but the bone-snapping crack as they get into the honky nuts is pretty off-putting. Evem more so ifnthey’re feeding over a tin shed. Random SPANG! sounds as the parrot empties the but and casually drops it out of the tree…

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is slated to announce the removal of the historic statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from its pedestal following demands from George Floyd protesters.

Northam plans to announce the removal of the monument, which is owned by the state, on Thursday and it will be put into storage.

The statue, unveiled in 1890, has become a gathering point for demonstrations over the past week, where protesters demanded justice for the police killing of George Floyd and the end of police brutality.

When news broke of the pending announcement, protesters gathered at the base of the heavily defaced monument on Wednesday erupted in cheers.

Confederate and controversial monuments in Alabama, Virginia, and Tennessee have been toppled following pressure from George Floyd protesters.

I was worried if my ‘ servicing ‘ would be viewed as inappropriate as I am not a service agent.

I will ask the rep when they ring me.

Service chap opened it up, said he had no idea what the problem was & a new one was delivered the next day.

Interesting that two of police charged in Minneapolis have Asian surnames (Chinese and possibly Tibetan/Vietnamese). I raise this only because this sort of detail often gets overlooked in the “it’s only whites running around killing blacks” narrative. There have been a number of incidents now where non-white (e.g. Hispanic) officers have been involved but they all seem to get lumped together. Even black officers apparently are proof of systemic racism.

    Lester again today.

Not quite sure what Knight is on about. Did people expect the President to walk through a sea of demonstrators to stand in front of the ruined church? Ford’s theatre is just down the road, you know.

A few years ago, we stayed in a town that Obama was visiting the next day. It was bristling with security to the point of creepiness (for Australians). And he was, supposedly, much loved.

  192. As mentioned earlier today…this will all just drive many Americans further right…even to the far right…and quite frankly I don’t blame them….they are seeing their whole society trashed by the progressive left. This isn’t that dissimilar to what happened in Germany in the 1920’s.

    Then –

I think there is quite a distinction, this isn’t about them being driven “right”, a more accurate description is being driven “conservative”. ie. the situation isn’t pushing them towards being Nazi’s which these days is incorrectly labeled “right” thanks to the efforts of lefties wanting to disavow that particular flavour of Left.

Sorry it’s cultural because the Indian diaspora do it too.

Mainland Chinese do it too because of cultural reasons, related to who supports parents.

    The dowry system in India.

I guess you can say it’s about money but culture is at the heart because other poor people don’t use abortion and infanticide to get rid of unwanted girls quite like the Indian and Chinese (and the practice is not limited to the desperately poor)

In any case your argument was that we owned abortion.

Clearly we don’t have that monopoly which was my point.

Alex Berenson had his book on COVID19 banned on amazon.
Then Elon got involved & now amazon has said it was removed “in error”.
The problem is, not everyone has Elon fighting for them.

I just read it on my Kindle app. It’s short and sweet. The main thing I’ve learnt from the WuFlu event is that politicians and their experts are even more inept than I had supposed, and my prior opinion was extremely low.

That’s always a problem when you attempt to rewrite history.

The Left always says that the Fascists were capitalists ‘pretending’ to be socialists, in order to garner support from the working class.
If Mussolini was initially the Head of the Bolshevik wing of the Italian Socialist Party (and subsequently the founder of Italian Fascism), isn’t it FAR more likely that they were socialists pretending to be capitalists, in order to garner finance?

  199. Frank Brennan’s comment on the riots in the USA –

When confused and troubled about what to make of race relations in the USA, I often turn to Martin Luther King. In a speech at Stanford University on 14 April 1967 entitled “The Other America”, he said that ‘in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard’. Here is a fuller expression of what he said and meant:
‘Many in moments of anger, many in moments of deep bitterness engage in riots.
‘Let me say as I’ve always said, and I will always continue to say, that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating. I’m still convinced that nonviolence is the most potent weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom and justice. I feel that violence will only create more social problems than they will solve. That in a real sense it is impracticable for the Negro to even think of mounting a violent revolution in the United States. So I will continue to condemn riots, and continue to say to my brothers and sisters that this is not the way. And continue to affirm that there is another way.
‘But at the same time, it is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause persons to feel that they must engage in riotous activities as it is for me to condemn riots. I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation’s summers of riots are caused by our nation’s winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention.’

  200. Unintended consequences?

The FBI on Monday posted to social media a request for photos and videos of individuals provoking violence during the nationwide peaceful demonstrations over the killing of George Floyd last week. But many on Twitter quickly began sharing video clips and photos of police cracking down violently on protesters.

  201. Rand Paul’s timing is impeccible (sarc).

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul acknowledged Wednesday that he’s the lone holdout on passing a bill that would make lynching a federal crime. His objection holds up the bill even as Congress faces pressure for action during nationwide protests against racial violence.
Congress has failed to pass anti-lynching legislation nearly 200 times over the past century, and the latest bill initially seemed poised for President Trump’s desk earlier this year.

K2 at 12.09 last night made an excellent point on BRS and this stupid ‘war crimes’ fiasco.

They don’t just select punters for the SASR on the ability to run through wet concrete carrying an Esky full of stubbies. The cadre course/s can and do weed out people without the necessary qualities to survive and thrive in appalling conditions for extraordinary lengths of time without going apeshit.

People need to realise that this isn’t some stoned-up pack of Yanks grassing up a village 50 years ago. From K2’s post:

‘extremely rare or near impossible for SAS soldiers to degenerate into such shit.’ Yup.

Bethany McLean is tossing up whether to devote time to writing a new book on COVID19 or whether to just put it together in a series for VF.
She’s been one of the most critical of Cuomo’s policies.
But she’s latched onto the HCQ scandal.
Bethany loves financial scandals more than anything & is basically saying Big Pharma is behind HCQ being torpedoed.
Her podcast, once you get past all the extreme lefty stuff, is pretty good once she gets into her bread & butter.
