Journalism 101. The truth doesn’t sell papers.
    Controversy does.
    ergo…let’s make up some shit!

If you click on to Miller’s site and scroll down, you get to a video of a US police officer talking about his day’s assignment at work, at the request of organisers of a protest to take place that day.
“They requested a police presence, you know, for their safety at the ‘defund the police’ event.”

  4. Oh come on

This is one of those classic ‘I stand corrected’ moments when you are presented with a free kick – an additional opportunity to point out that the most crime-ridden and dysfunctional cities are exclusively Democrat-run. Oh, but except for Outlierville. Sorry about that oversight.

    1) Not sure what they think ‘most’means.
    2) Remarkable that they took the opportunity to give further publicity to the obvious.
    3) Let’s hope America wakes up from wokeness in time for November.

What is just as much fun is to ‘know’ that a Yale alumni benefits from the ‘magnificence’ of a Slave Trader.

    How Long, Yale?

It has now been over a month since the killing of George Floyd, and still Yale University has yet to say anything about a process to strip the painful memory of its slave-trader namesake Elihu Yale. Not even a committee to think about a process to come up with a consultation for concepts and ideas about a new name paradigm. Yale’s administrators are failing even to rise to the level of administrative bureau-speak. I keep being told that “silence is violence,” and Yale’s silence is more deafening than noise-canceling headphones!

“They requested a police presence, you know, for their safety at the ‘defund the police’ event.”

Lefty activists are not just violent fascist thugs, but clinically insane. Whatever else it is, this is a hilarious chapter in the history of the West and the dregs who hang off the bottom of it.

Every time you buy stuff from Amazon you are helping the WaPo along with other lefty assaults on goodness and decency.

“She said: “Presidents, prime ministers, kings and princesses came and wanted to talk to me.

“They saw me and suddenly saw the chance that they could take a photo with me for their Instagram account. Then the hashtag #savetheplanet.”

Of course, there was one world leader who didn’t take advantage of the uneducated little girl, who didn’t exploit the opportunity for a little climate virtue signalling #savetheplanet …

A Tweeter further down pointed out that San Antonio is also Democrat-run, just the town council or whatever they call it forbids overt party affiliation.

So that just leaves Las Vegas, which averages 100,000 visitors a day – possibly from Democrat no-fun zones.

    2) Remarkable that they took the opportunity to give further publicity to the obvious.

1)In this case, “most” is an intensifier to “dangerous” – “most dangerous”. Not “most of the dangerous” so the WaPo is technically correct but still shot themselves in both feet.

2)the Remain campaign made the same mistake, over and over, in the Brexit referendum regarding cost of membership. They still can’t see what they did.

They’ve been learning from the ABC fact check unit.

  14. yarpos

So desperate to make a point and one eyed in their analysis that they didnt see obvious. Nothing seems to get reviewed before its blurted out these days. I imagine this will get feed back to them during the campaign, with full credit and acknowledgement of course.

It is a metaphor for the parlous state of the media in the US, it is beyond parody….we are heading the same way.

So where’s all your “personal rights” and “capitalism” reasoning???

So where’s all your “personal rights” and “capitalism” reasoning???

Um, maybe learn what the concepts mean and how to use them correctly before using them.

” … a right wing blog and all.”

A deplorable blog full of rednecks, racists, homophobes and (gasp) climate deniers and all.

    There, updated that for you.

I thought it was your (self-appointed) role to teach us, oh wise one! Unless you can demonstrate you actually know these terms yourself, why should anyone value what you say?

  21. Spurgeon Monkfish III

The WaPo piece was discussed on Outsiders yesterday where they raised an interesting point – the content of the piece (which completely disproves the assertion made in the headline) is irrelevant as most collectivist imbeciles wouldn’t bother reading any further.

Neat little trick. Exactly like one of the tiresome f*ckwits who posts links here that invariably don’t support whatever preposterous lie he’s attempting to pass off as fact.

  22. The BigBlueCat

This being a right wing blog and all.

It clearly says Australia’s leading libertarian and centre-right blog … while right-wing is implied under “libertarian”, it also services those who consider themselves “centre-right” (so not strictly “right wing” alone). But “libertarian” does not imply “conservative”. Just saying ….

  23. Megan

Um, maybe learn what the concepts mean and how to use them correctly before using them.

I’ll do that around about the same time you can demonstrate that you understand logical fallacies, clustering illusions, outcome bias, fundamental attribution error, false causality and the overconfidence effect.

And when you’ve done that, I’ll give you the next six.

I won’t hold my breath, your regular contributions demonstrate you have NFI what any of them mean, let alone be able to recognise one even if it bit you on the arse.

  24. Iampeter

I thought it was your (self-appointed) role to teach us, oh wise one! Unless you can demonstrate you actually know these terms yourself, why should anyone value what you say?

Yea but I can’t make you think. Only you can do that.

I’ll do that around about the same time you can demonstrate that you understand logical fallacies, clustering illusions, outcome bias, fundamental attribution error, false causality and the overconfidence effect.

You forgot “projection” in your list of projections.

You realize you’ve NOT ONCE said anything that can even remotely be described as on topic in ANY thread where you’ve responded to me?
Endless criticism of me is only evidence that you don’t know anything and are triggered by this fact.
Don’t take it out on me.

  25. Iampeter

But you are not a libertarian, or centre-right,or any other semantic either. You are a leftist with no idea what you’re talking about and no self awareness.

  26. The BigBlueCat

But you are not a libertarian, or centre-right,or any other semantic either. You are a leftist with no idea what you’re talking about and no self awareness.

Only according to your definitions – no-one else’s. Dude, you really need to stop reading The Objective Standard … it’s not good for your free thought ….

  27. Iampeter

Only according to your definitions – no-one else’s.

I’m sure if you even had another definition you would’ve just provided that to prove this. But you don’t…

Dude, you really need to stop reading The Objective Standard … it’s not good for your free thought ….

Then I can be a clueless leftist on a right wing blog, like you.
    No thanks.

  28. The BigBlueCat

I’m sure if you even had another definition you would’ve just provided that to prove this. But you don’t…

Don’t be lazy … if you want me to cite references I will, otherwise do your own reading (other than that useless The Objective Standard – it leaves you sounding like a cultist). Widen your horizons.

Unlike me, you already are a clueless leftist, as evidence of your support for leftist causes like abortion, unfettered immigration, identity politics/collectivism, pro-Democratic Party and many other cause du jour promoted by the left. Just man up and admit it for once – Monty and Numbers would love some company.

  29. Iampeter

Don’t be lazy … if you want me to cite references I will, otherwise do your own reading (other than that useless The Objective Standard – it leaves you sounding like a cultist). Widen your horizons.

Like I said, you have no idea to counter anything I’ve said, but thanks for the confirmation, I guess.

Unlike me, you already are a clueless leftist

As already explained, a capitalist and an individualist, could not even accidentally be mistaken for a clueless leftist.
You’re sad attempts at projection are as hopeless as your overall attempts to be discussing these topics in the first place. You are literally so clueless as to not even be entertaining.

It was my mistake for indulging you in an exchange when I already knew you were beyond parody, so we’ll just go back to me ignoring your pointless babble.

  30. The BigBlueCat

Like I said, you have no idea to counter anything I’ve said, but thanks for the confirmation, I guess.

I have plenty of ideas – you just don’t apprehend them. You seem to be mired in your self-confidence that you are always right, and anyone who disagrees with you must be wrong. But you are yet to prove anything.

As already explained, a capitalist and an individualist, could not even accidentally be mistaken for a clueless leftist.

While you claim to be a capitalist and individualist, no-one other than you can measure the veracity of that and how successful you are at that, or if you’re flying a false flag of being “right-wing”. As I said, many of the causes you support are typically leftist. But I take you at your word, and am happy to challenge you on your positions that are clearly in common with Marxist objectives.

I always have questions about what I know and understand – perhaps you’re lucky enough to have sorted that out. Somehow I doubt it. In any event, people have the right to choose their socio-political bent based on what meets their needs – the key question comes down to rights (as you rightly point out) but also morals and the basis on which those morals are founded (something you are certain to take issue with).

But that’s fine … your choice. I know you dislike being challenged (you seem to get triggered pretty easily), so like many, I wonder why you put up with being here. Clearly no-one can teach you anything.

  31. The BigBlueCat

But you are not a libertarian, or centre-right,or any other semantic either. You are a leftist with no idea what you’re talking about and no self awareness.

I don’t claim to be a libertarian, only centre-right. I’m not an Objectivist. Or a leftist. Seriously dude, you need to let it go. Not everyone finds Rand’s “philosophy” comprehensively compelling despite its good points. And just because the Cat declares itself for libertarians and centre-right, that does not make it the exclusive domain for Randian thought. Certainly, there are real leftists appearing here, but that doesn’t cause you to criticise them. Is it because you actually support what they say?

Given the stick you get from many, why do you even bother?

  32. Kneel

“I’m sure if you even had another definition you would’ve just provided that to prove this.”

    Bwahahahaha!
Says the individual who won’t post a definition to defend his own posts, even when others post cites that show him wrong.
