Clive Hamilton being sued in the UK

Professor Hamilton said that the book’s UK publisher, Oneworld, had received a letter from lawyers that claimed Mr Perry and the 48 Group Club had been defamed. “We will be responding robustly,” he said. “The book is meticulously documented. We stand by our research.”

  1. Clive being sued? I’m not surprised in the least.

    Clive Hamilton?
The man who linked AGW deniers to Holocaust deniers and thinks they should be locked up, or some such?
    What an utterly contemptible POS.

    Well done, Clive.

You finally have the right enemies.

He didn’t say they should be locked up (at least not that I recall). Because he believed/believes in climate change, he was, unsurprisingly, of the opinion that ‘deniers’ were dangerous, but even so, not as immoral as holocaust deniers. But that’s a long time ago and irrelevant to this discussion.

This controversy is about his book “Silent Invasion,” which is about a very different topic. Follow the link and join the dots.

We should suspend democracy due to climate change – according to Clive.

I was wrong, this isn’t about Silent Invasion, it’s about his latest book, “Hidden Land”.

how about you resist the Pavlovian response to names popping up on your screen and look at the actual story. It’s not climate change. Nowadays, Clive’s focus is documenting the extent of Chinese influence in Australia and other western nations.

Maybe so, but facts are facts.

I went to the link earlier, but it’s paywalled.
Actually, I agree with him on China and its influences.
Doesn’t mean I don’t find Hamilton thoroughly objectionable otherwise.

Should this book be dismissed due to Hamilton’s previous books or views on other topics? I would think so if Hamilton argued that those books were meticulously documented, then it turns out the facts were total bullshit. This may be the case. But his previous books may be citing climate science papers then making political arguments on how to react to the findings of the ‘science’.

Yeah, bit embarrassing that Clive Hamilton totally called this issue right. Don’t know how his judgment on China/HK worked out better than 99% of everyone else, but there you have it. He called it.

A large damages claim would comprehensively cure him of any lingering affluenza, so there is that at least.

I think Clive also wanted to tattoo “Denier” on the foreheads of CAGW sceptics.
