    It’s endemic.

Prince Harry apologises for ‘endemic institutional racism’

Prince Harry has apologised for institutional racism, claiming it was “still endemic” and insisting he and wife Meghan Markle “are committed to being part of the solution”.

In a video message to recipients of the Diana Awards on what would have been the 59th birthday of his mother, Princess Diana, Harry said: “My wife said recently that our generation and the ones before us haven’t done enough to wipe the wrongs of the past. I too am sorry.

“Sorry that we haven’t got the world to the place where you deserve it to be. Institutional racism has no place in our societies, yet it is still endemic.

“Unconscious bias must be acknowledged without blame to create a better world for all of you. I want you to know that we are committed to being part of the solution and to being part of the change that you are all leading. Now is the time and we know that you can do it.”

The Duke of Sussex paid tribute to young people working to make a change across the world as he presented a Princess Diana Award via video message today.

Harry’s words came several weeks after supporting the Rugby Football Union’s review to ban the crowd favourite song Swing Low, Sweet Chariot because of its association with slavery.

Last month, shortly after the death of George Floyd, Meghan told students at her alma mater in Los Angeles: “The first thing I want to say to you is that I’m sorry. I am so sorry that you have to grow up in a world where this is still present.”

Also weren’t ‘Gleeso’ & Herr Schmidt in full hysterical Karen mode about the 1000 testing refuseniks.

“gleeso” sounds like an hysterical muddle aged woman and Herr Schmidt is unrepentant fascist imbecile.

The latter was mouth frothing last week about the need for everyone to wear masks, ’cause Bat Flu.

Fuck off, you fucking fascist morons. I will not tolerate being coerced into wearing a mask, nor will I tolerate the state demanding I submit myself to bat flu test.

Again, just fuck off, you fucking fascist imbeciles.

Madam Butterfly is a disgusting racist tale

Wasn’t Carmen the subject of some hysterical collectivist bloviating a couple years ago due to its callous depiction of a poor young poppet being forced to work in a dark satanic tobacco mill?

I knew a bloke like that. Waited a long time to get a job as supermarket security.

    Modesty Blaise gets cancelled:

Going out in a Blaise of silliness (1 Jul)

The West Australian newspaper in Perth today canceled a comic strip that ended 19 years ago. Rarely has the collapse of an industry been better illustrated than by this nonsense.

Today West Australian Newspapers Editor-in-Chief Anthony De Ceglie announced he was dropping the comic strip because Modesty Blaise said “four armed men and an aboriginal” in one strip and called the aboriginal “abo” in the next panel.

De Ceglie apologized very publicly and ended his column, “The West Australian has also decided it will no longer publish Modesty Blaise. The comic strip had been running for 48 years since 1972, but it no longer has a place in the pages of The West Australian nor does it reflect our company’s culture or values under my watch.”

I was amused when Stokes or someone got Fairfax’s Greg Hywood in this week to review the West Australian. The Fairfax birdcage liners are collapsing and are unreadable leftist swill. Looks like the cartoon section is the first against the wall in the new revolution.

Yes there was a period when it was fashionable for Europeans to have black slaves or black servants.

There was also a time when it was fashionable for people of colour to have white slaves.

Let’s not forget the Barbary pirates, Turkish raids on the western European coast, etc.

(Haven’t read up thread yet, so someone else may have put it up, & I can’t open the rest of it)

This a headline in The Australian; needless to say, I burst out laughing.
    Catallaxians, this is peek stupid.

Arts critics at Nine papers quit in race protest:

Four of the five young SMH and Age arts critics quit or reduce their hours to protest the fact that they are all white

Behind closed doors, one wonders do each and everyone of them really commit to this sh1t? If so, they’re dumber than dumb! How’d you feel as a parent if your little darling gave away their chance to “make it” – even as an arts critic – gee how many of those types of jobs are there?

Maybe they were going to get boned (as Eddie everywhere once said) and it was a face saving tactic – ‘let’s go out as martyrs and perhaps The ABC will pick us up because of this “ pure of heart” strategy‘?

If not, it’s a bit like that line, ‘well, we’ll always have Paris!’

How long before they look back with yearning at the financial independence that might have been in The Time of COVID; will the memories of that full time job, the one they once had, sustain them? Or will it all turn to dust once reality sinks in?

What must the employer think? ‘Gee, we dodged a bullet with that crop‘, or, ‘maybe we should do the same in solidarity with our little wokey babies‘!

Silly, stupid idiots/morons (Leigh, get in here, which one is it?)

Spanish towns offer new home for statues targeted by protests in US

Last month, lawmakers in California announced that the statue of Queen Isabella and Christopher Columbus would be removed from the state capitol in Sacramento, describing it as “completely out of place today” in the capitol rotunda where it has stood since 1883.

“We’re not ashamed of our history,” wrote the Neighbours Association of Fray Hernando de la Talavera, named after a confessor of Queen Isabella. “We’re aware that mistakes were made, but we also know how unfair it is to judge the past from the point of view of today’s society.”

The group ended with a request for the Carrara marble statue, adding: “We’ll take care of all the shipping costs.”

  27. Roger

    No Roger.

That’s all firmly in the forgettery!

It would be salutary for this history to be retreived from the forgettery.

    It might disrupt the narrative.

  28. Mick Gold Coast QLD

From Zulu Kilo Two Alpha at 8:44 am:

“Sydney Morning Herald and The Age arts critics quit in protest

Four of the five young critics hired by The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age in May to write about the arts have either quit their jobs or reduced their own hours to protest the fact that they are all white.

… “our resignation is in opposition to the lack of diversity in the selection, which resulted in an all-white group of peers.”

They cannot readily achieve the equity they pursue, assuming their objective is “equity”.

Despite the size of the dollar numbers and the volume of political noise and the acres of print space and hours of broadcast time devoted to black fellas, I believe abos amount to just 3% of the population. I don’t really know because they are such an insignificant segment, they contribute stuff all to GDP and cost so much for a very, very negative return.

The kiddies need another 25 or 30 art degree pears on staff to make their sacrifice proportional and meaningful. For their gesture to be noticeable – say, leaving one whole person off each weekly roster – they are going to need an art critic workforce of 33.

They are very fortunate to have landlords who will drop their rent to an equitable level because of their empathy, although that does raise a dilemma – they are white and rich and privileged and should volunteer to pay more. That would be the fair thing to do.

It cannot be real demanding being an art critic. One need not be articulate in this modern world – they merely need to stroll about the gallery stroking their chins, stare momentarily and announce “Awesome!” or “Fully awesome!” or “That sucks!”

Geet: Indian TikTok star faces uncertain future after app ban

Since Monday evening, Geet’s inbox has been overflowing with messages from anxious followers from all over India.

Geet, who goes by her first name only, says she was taken aback when India banned TikTok and dozens more Chinese-made apps because it said they were a danger to the country.

After all, the former lawyer is now one of India’s many TikTok stars, teaching “American English”, and giving relationship advice and pep talks to more than 10 million followers on her three channels.

Every day, for the past year, Geet has uploaded 15 videos to her accounts, each usually 20 seconds long. Shooting on her phone and a professional camera, she records up to 120 videos a day to make sure that her larder is never bare. The rest of the week she is busy scripting and editing her videos.

“I was completely taken off guard when the news arrived. I mean, this is my life now. It’s my full-time job,” she told me.

None of those idiots on Sky are right wing.
    Except maybe, James Morrow.
They are there purely to make people like me feel like we are not alone and watch their TV show, while dumb bints like Credlin are just purely unashamed party hacks.
She’s completely full of shit, just like any member of the Liberal party.
Tune in to watch her skip around the bleeding obvious, praise the libs at all points, and never question to deeply anything going on.
She is consumed with party back room antics and every edition can’t help about bragging about “being in government”, which any public servant can claim.
She is married to another party hack.

Rowan Dean and the outsiders know who Antonio Guterres is, they know the education system is a complete marxist right off, etc but do they ever do anything more than moan about the outcomes produced.
Like many here, they are totally comfortable in just narrating the demise and being paid to do so.
Riccardo Bosi is not allowed back on the show for pointing out the bleeding obvious regarding the libs and had the gutless producers fearing for their needed party support from the libs.

Gleeso hasn’t got a brain between him and the old poof I tried to wrestle the microphone from is just pure theatre…………..he never goes outside the box too far either.

There is no “right wing” station, there is no real right wing program.
I admit, it’s good to have them there to some degree for the general public to be coaxed into some simplistic understanding of politics that is not complete marxist propaganda, but when you look at sky’s fear mongering regards the sniffles pandemic, even on the Outsiders, being used to play party off of party, you know you are not watching serious people with real, conviction or real journalistic standards.
Bolt just throws his hands in the air after revving all the oldies up and claims he has no idea why it’s all happening.
    Really?

Useless television when all is considered.

Vermeule on True and False Humility:

This Burkean argument suffers from a paradox, however, which causes the Burkean logic to undermine itself, and which the Chief’s concurrence vividly illustrates. If the very first decision freezes the law forever, obliging all subsequent Justices to put aside their disagreements permanently in the name of stare decisis, then the “bank and capital of nations and of ages” shrinks radically. The only depositors to the bank will be the Justices in the initial majority, which means in practice that a majority of only one or two will frequently determine the law forevermore. From a Burkean standpoint, it is breathtaking epistemological arrogance to think that one or two Justices, deciding at a single time under conditions of sharply limited information, should be able to determine the permanent course of the law. But the effect of the Chief’s approach is to require Burkean Justices to conform to the initial, maximally arrogant decision; conversely, more information would be contributed to the stock of epistemic capital if later Justices treated the second or subsequent case as one of first impression. The self-undermining approach of the Chief’s concurrence, then, actually embodies a kind of judicial hubris cloaked in the garb of humility. (I will leave it to other commentators to speculate about why a veneer of humility seems so often to appeal to the Chief Justice).

    Right between the eyes.

    More on June Medical:

June Medical, then, forms an important part of the lesson of what is already being called “Blue June” by some Court watchers. As was the case in Bostock v. Clayton County, neutral decisional technology (in this case, stare decisis; in Bostock, textualism) can be used as easily as anything to achieve substantive results altogether at odds with conservative goals. It is not enough to say that Roberts’s invocation of stare decisis or Justice Gorsuch’s textualism is somehow technically deficient.

    and

Roberts’s characterization of stare decisis as a pragmatic doctrine cuts both ways. Certainly one could make a very pragmatic case that Casey has induced such overwhelming reliance—it is, after all, the basis of a fifty-state regulatory regime—that it cannot be overturned without causing tremendous disruption to the judicial system. All of the benefits of stare decisis, particularly the predictability and consistency of the development of doctrine, would be lost if the Court overturned Casey. It was badly decided—a critic might say it was incoherently decided—to be sure, but it was decided.

To put it another way: there is a real question whether Roberts’s invitation to challenge Casey itself would not lead to a situation where Blackstone and Burke, Hamilton and Jackson are invoked to explain why Casey cannot be overturned. Certainly the factors explained by Roberts are no less present in the case of Casey, which is now nearly thirty years old and has formed the bedrock of the nation’s abortion regime, than they were in June Medical, which challenged a case decided only in 2016.

Indeed. Unless these ‘neutral decisional technologies’ are grounded in a substantive conception of the common good they are worthless.

Since the corona Virus hit he has been working from home and absolutely loves it. Yesterday he was part of an international video conference and home work was discussed in depth. Board members were astounded by the increase in productivity, new business and profitability. The Americas,UK,Europe and APAC all up. His area,APAC were up 139% in profit alone. He had to have amazing security installed on his home office, he had two devices on his desk that cost $30K each.
The coy is looking at ways of keeping their staff working from home.

He asked me what I thought the reason was for the increases in productivity etc. I said it was probably middle management and useless meetings being done away with.He said that is what he thought to.

(I’m by no means sure the first one will pass the strict Muddy Test, but here goes….)

    “thunberg”
    (verb)
    – to help someone see that the climate change narrative is a hoax
e.g. Michael Shellenberg was thunberged and has apologised for his climate alarmism.
e.g. I’ve been thunberging on the opinion page for years, and now I’m just loving watching the recently thunberged high priests of climate dogma, Michael Moore and Michael Shellenberger, now doing their best to thunberg their fearthful followers.

    “fearthful”
    (adjective)
    – too scared to disbelieve and too ignorant to analyse
e.g. Greens voters fearthfully believe the world will end due to climate change in twelve years but almost none of them are prepping for it.
e.g. Young Michael had always been fearthful climate doom dogmatic until he was thunberged by a scared, ignorant Swedish teenager.

  96. The American founding fathers wimped it when it came to slavery.

With its soaring rhetoric about all men being “created equal,” the Declaration of Independence gave powerful voice to the values behind the American Revolution. Critics, however, saw a glaring contradiction: Many of the colonists who sought freedom from British tyranny themselves bought and sold human beings. By underpinning America’s nascent economy with the brutal institution of chattel slavery, they deprived roughly one-fifth of the population of their own “inalienable” right to liberty.

What isn’t widely known, however, is that Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, in an early version of the Declaration, drafted a 168-word passage that condemned slavery as one of the many evils foisted upon the colonies by the British crown. The passage was cut from the final wording.

  97. Geriatric Mayfly

  101. Mother Lode

Yep…but that’s because they view Rush as one of their own

I honestly think the accusations against Rush were bogus.

My understanding is that actors in theatrical productions horse around a lot in rehearsals and while preparing for a performance and they feed off each others’ energy. The woman who accused him said it happened during a rehearsal with all the other performers there, and all the others were laughing – everybody there felt it was just playful mucking around, except for the woman who saw horns and a pointed tail.

I don’t know Rush’s politics – which is just how I like it. My impression is that he doesn’t see his work as political (regardless of the number of people who read politics into his roles) which would put him at odds with the arts establishment.

His acting style is about movement. In Quills where he played the Marquis de Sade he said he was focussing on moving about his cell like a mountain goat capering among craggy rocks – that reflecting the way the Marquis tried a balancing act titillating readers without provoking his gaolers. In Shine he played the shambling hunched muttering David Helfgott who became exuberant and liberated in music.

I doubt another Australian actor could match him.

He also does not do that awful Australian thing where male characters are always stuttering, inarticulate apes unable to make sense of their own feelings which build up until bursting forth in violent rage. He is not made for the theatre the Luvvies think is ‘important’.

More racist tweets by Cambridge University Professor Priyamvada Gopal have been unearthed, including one in which she spoke about her urge to “kneecap white men.”

Gopal caused controversy last week when she tweeted “white lives don’t matter,” prompting a petition demanding she be fired. However, Cambridge University responded by promoting her to a full professorship, despite the fact that the tweet was censored by Twitter for hate speech.

Maybe these messages will lead to another petition demanding Gopal’s removal. The first one was deleted by Change.org after receiving over 20,000 signatures.

Cambridge University has stood by Gopal despite previously dismissing Noah Carl after 500 academics signed a letter challenging Carl’s research on race and intelligence.

Germany far right: Elite KSK commando force ‘to be partially disbanded’

Germany’s defence minister says she has ordered the partial dissolution of the elite KSK commando force, which has come under growing criticism over right-wing extremism in its ranks.

Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer told a newspaper it had become partly independent of the chain of command.

In January, military intelligence said there were almost 600 suspected far-right supporters in the army last year.

They also said the KSK (Special Forces Command) was seen as a particular problem, with 20 members of the elite force suspected of right-wing extremism.

The chunks have played this well:

Scientists have been hard at work unraveling the mysteries of SARS-CoV-2 since January, when Beijing finally shared a mapped genome with the global scientific community (though early research also filtered out via the British journal “The Lancet”). At this point, scientists around the world have examined hundreds of thousands of viral samples from around the world. They’ve compared and contrasted their genetic code, and they’ve identified what appears to be an important pattern. That is: the earliest version of the virus that spread in Wuhan is not genetically identical to the iteration that went on to conquer Europe and the US.
According to a Bloomberg report comparing the findings from four non-peer-reviewed studies, it appears that a notable mutation of the virus that emerged broadly and early during its global campaign helped render COVID-19 more infectious in later iterations than it was during the early weeks of the outbreak, raising fears that the virus could continue to evolve in a way that eludes scientists working on a vaccine, or simply makes the virus more deadly.

THE FINNISH AIR FORCE HAS UNCEREMONIOUSLY REMOVED THE SWASTIKA SYMBOL from its general staff ID and logo, with no prior announcement of the decision.

We are now training people to mutilate history for contemporary reasons. They will not be able to make sense of the past.

May be on purpose. Progressives think the Western view of history is flawed. History is the unfolding of a social or economic or gender theory. And once you have the theory (which tells you what we must do next) you do not actually need to see the raw data of the past.

Rough polling stretch has GOP operatives asking: Could Trump drop out?

Some GOP operatives are wondering if the president could drop out of the presidential race if his poll numbers don’t improve

A stretch of lackluster polling for President Trump has some Republican operatives nervous about the president’s reelection prospects in November – with some even floating the possibility for the first time that Trump could drop out if his poll numbers don’t rebound.

“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one GOP operative who asked to remain anonymous told Fox News.

“I’ve heard the talk but I doubt it’s true,” another said. “My bet is, he drops if he believes there’s no way to win.”

Trump’s poll numbers in recent weeks have trended downward amid criticism over his administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the White House’s response to the protests and riots following the death of George Floyd in late May while in Minneapolis police custody.

A recent Fox News poll had the president trailing Democrat Joe Biden by 12 points, while a RealClearPolitics average of polls had Trump down almost 10 points to the former vice president. Biden also was leading Trump in many key battleground states, and polls from Republican strongholds such as Texas had Trump and Biden neck and neck.

Polls in the past, however, have been way off the mark.

In 2016, Trump trailed Hillary Clinton in almost all the polls leading up to the general election before pulling off his surprise win. The president also already has weathered numerous controversies during his term in office and came away largely unscathed, at least among his base of supporters, according to analysts.

The Trump campaign adamantly denied that the president would drop out of the race and criticized polling for allegedly undersampling Republican voters.

“This is the granddaddy of fake news,” Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh told Fox News. “Everyone knows that media polling has always been wrong about President Trump – they undersample Republicans and don’t screen for likely voters – in order to set false narratives. It won’t work. There was similar fretting in 2016 and if it had been accurate, Hillary Clinton would be in the White House right now.”

After the latest spate of polls, his campaign released a memo on Sunday essentially refuting the claims that the president’s reelection chances were in trouble. The campaign cited polling that showed a lack of enthusiasm for Biden, especially in key battleground states, and called into question the methodology used in major polls.

“As was the case in 2016, the mainstream news media is relying on polling financed by their own operations and others, released publicly in order to set a narrative that conforms with their own worldviews,” the campaign stated. “The president’s campaign has repeatedly called into question the validity of such polling, based on methodology, party representation in the sample, wording of questions, and other factors.”

It continued: “These are legitimate criticisms, as there are real differences between public polling and proprietary internal polling such as the campaign conducts for itself.”

If President Trump doesn’t win in November, it will be all because of traitors like the “Some GOP operatives”.

Michael Palin backs calls to redesign Order of St Michael and St George medal after petition

The design was changed in 2011 to feature a light-skinned Satan.

He [Palin] told the Telegraph: ‘Though the image on my award is of a white Satan being vanquished, I think that depicted is inappropriate and offensive and I would back the Governor-General of Jamaica’s call for it to be re-designed.’

I think as a minimum, we are talking black St Michael (looking a lot like George Floyd) crushing a white serpent (looking a lot like Donald Trump).

    In Deeper Stupidity news:

Bumi Thomas, a British-Nigerian activist, told The Guardian that the image on the badge was of ‘a black man in chains with a white, blue-eyed figure standing on his neck’.

She added: ‘It is literally what happened to George Floyd and what has been happening to black people for centuries under the guise of diplomatic missions – active, subliminal messaging that reinforces the conquest, subjugation and dehumanisation of people of colour.’

Needless to say, the Grauniad published Mz Thomas’ views without any tedious fact checking.
