PDT latest press conference

Perhaps the most interesting part is that the President’s hair has gone completely white. Most of what he says you can find out in the media, but only through the distortions and outright lies that are an integral part of the process today. Has the ABC ever provided a positive story about Donald Trump without first going through all of the alternative possibilities first?

He could have retired and had a easy life.

But the man is a genuine patriot who loves his country and the opportunities it has given him to succeed.

Now President Trump is the last and only person defending us all from the lawlessness and anarchy of the of the alternative Democratic vision of their green new deal.

I, for one, can not thank him enough.

    Thank you, President Trump.

It’s become so completely mechanical on the evening Nein bulletin that you can practically set your watch by it:
    1.Latest covid panic story
2.Something bad happens to actress/sports star
3.Feelgood story about some old dude
    4. Trump bashing story
    5. Cute animal story
    6. Dashcam footage of weird sh!t in some third world craphole

Remarks by President Trump in Press Conference
    Issued on: July 14, 2020
    Rose Garden

    5:29 P.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you very much, everybody. Please. I hope it’s not too hot. But it’s pretty warm. Thank you.

So, we’ve had a big day in the stock market. Things are coming back, and they’re coming back very rapidly — a lot sooner than people thought. People are feeling good about our country. People are feeling good about therapeutics and possible vaccines. But we’re going to go over quite a bit, and maybe at the end, we’ll take some questions if we have time, if it’s not too hot.

Today, I signed legislation and an executive order to hold China accountable for its oppressive actions against the people of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Autonomy Act, which I signed this afternoon, passed unanimously through Congress. This law gives my administration powerful new tools to hold responsible the individuals and the entities involved in extinguishing Hong Kong’s freedom. We’ve all watched what happened. Not a good situation. Their freedom has been taken away. Their rights have been taken away. And with it, goes Hong Kong, in my opinion, because it will no longer be able to compete with free markets.

A lot of people will be leaving Hong Kong, I suspect. And we’re going to do a lot more business because of it, because we just lost one competitor. That’s the way it is. We lost a very, very serious competitor. A competitor that we incentivized to take a lot of business and do well. And we gave them a lot of business by doing what we did. We gave them things that nobody else had the right to do, and that gave them a big edge over other markets. And because of that edge, they’ve done really historic business, tremendous business — far bigger than anybody would have thought, years ago, when we did this gift. It was really a gift to freedom.

Today, I also signed an executive order ending U.S. preferential treatment for Hong Kong. Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China: no special privileges, no special economic treatment, and no export of sensitive technologies.

In addition to that, as you know, we’re placing massive tariffs and have placed very large tariffs on China — first time that’s ever happened to China. Billions of dollars have been paid to the United States, of which I’ve given quite a bit to the farmers and ranchers for our country because they were targeted. And that’s been going on for three years. It’s the first time anybody’s ever done anything like that.

It suits him though. He looks quite well. I thought a few weeks ago he was a bit unwell with something but looks quite robust now (touch wood).
He had a spiffing black mask on the other day at the visit to the Veterans’ Hospital and looked quite roguish. He should use it from time to time to be dashing.

You don’t need that many words….this sentence should read as…

Has the ABC ever provided a positive story about Donald Trump?

As a classic economist shouldn’t you be addressing the massive issues in speeches from a leftist President like this?
For example, how placing tariffs on Chinese made goods, punishes American’s, not the Chinese.
Basically something like this should accompany this video.

Now President Trump is the last and only person defending us all from the lawlessness and anarchy of the of the alternative Democratic vision of their green new deal.

    Thank you, President Trump.

Can I have what you’re smoking?
It seems like really good stuff and this quarantine is starting to get to me.

The vaccine is Operation Warp Speed?
    Not fast enough.
    You know what’s next.
I don’t even have to say it. 😀

He made a good point about the ACE+Navy hospitals being underused.

He reads Biden’s “End solitary confinement” bullet point and he made no criticism of that and moved on to the next point. Hmmm, so is he hoping to let Biden improve Trump’s own expected living conditions? 🙂

Amazing that Biden would want to end “school choice”, and Trump is obviously right to oppose that.

Despite their embarrassing candidate the Republican option is still looking better than the far left Dems.
I reckon Harris’ image is too divisive and Biden will pick Bottoms for number two. (nyuk nyuk)

The highlight for me was how he repeatedly poked at the woke media by thanking them for their unwitting role in helping to ID & thus arrest some of the woke monument destroyers.

    IamConfusedbyEconomics-
Tariffs have existed as long as bartering and trading systems have existed amongst human beings. They are used on cheaper imports to even out the price signal of like products, preserving local production and avoiding market distortion.

Where two like products exist, the tariff will favour the local. Where only the import exosts, then the tariff becomes a defacto excise or import tax.

With this in mind IamActuallyaDialecticalMaterialist, how do tariffs on American products sold to China hurt Americans? When Chinese product is deliberately flooded into foreign markets worldwide, and with prices and equivalent exchange rates based on a manipulated currency? Is that not the sort of predatory and monopolistic behaviour you as an avowed individualist and capitalist should abhor?

Why are you taking Beijing’s side? Are they displaying suitably ‘right-wing’ behaviours in protecting individual rights and upholding capitalism, and therefore arw worthy of your support? Unlike that nasty leftist nationalist Orange Bad Man, who is actually attempting to uphold the rights of his own people to life, liberty, prosperity and the pursuit of happiness?
