How can any sane person not support Donald Trump?

You know, anyone who does not want Trump to win re-election is as politically empty as anyone can possibly be. I therefore continue to marvel at The Oz, and Greg Sheridan in particular with his article today: In strange times, Donald Trump can still win this election. What makes these time so strange is that Joe Biden has even been nominated never mind that he might yet win this election.

On November 3, barely 90 days away, will the gigantic, fantastic, psychedelic, unbelievable reality show of Donald Trump’s presidency come to a crashing halt, and the sleepy, somnolent, simpering tones of Uncle Joe Biden, Great Uncle Joe, replace the orange-haired tweeter-in-chief?

Unbelievably empty. Shallow. Inane. Want some more?

Trump is running on four issues: who is best to revive the economy; law and order; China; and Biden’s manifest weaknesses.

He is not running on how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still raging, with new milestones this week. US cases are nearly five million, with more than 155,000 dead. Florida broke its record for daily deaths. Other states have been posting nasty records. Many states, Republican and Democrat, are imposing new restrictions.

Seems a pretty conclusive pro-Trump case to be running on who is best to revive the economy; law and order; China; and Biden’s manifest weaknesses. Also on sealing the borders. And then there’s Portland, Seattle and a few other rundown and misbegotten Democrat cites beyond that.

As for running on how he handled the China flu, see the video above.

How can any sane person not support Donald Trump?

Because of stuff like this, obviously.

Only the most politically illiterate leftists support Trump and ask questions like this.

  2. Penny

Don’t know why Peta Credlin has him on her show and hangs on to every word he utters

  3. Rex Anger

    Sorry IamTDS.

If you truly want to convince the rest of us irrational lesser beings that the Evilbad Orange Man is as Evilbad as you declare, try using sources that aren’t as obviously corrupted by the lamestream meeja, Democrats and Georgy SoreArse (Has he paid you yet for your shilling? Might want to get on to that. Jobkeeper winds back next month, comrade…), my dear, sweet Randian ‘rationalist’ trollykins.

And remember, humour is irrational. And thus evilbad according to Mistress Rand. Might be worth you not trying to cause us too much mirth, lest you get raked over ypur coals for your irrational wrongthink…

“Devout Catholic” Sheridan wrote a book a while ago about how the assault on orthodox Christianity was depleting the social capital of the nation and imperiling its future.

Soon after, he wrote a column in support of gay ‘marriage’ using the hardline atheist left’s all “marriage” is good trope. The column was titled “The Christian reasons I’ll vote yes.”

    He is a complete dingbat.

  5. I’ve listened to Sheridan on Sky a couple of times, he comes across like a complete f’wit. He’s about as rational as Juan Williams on Fox’s The Five.

  6. Lee

And Sheridan is supposed to be a leading journalist/columnist at the top conservative newspaper in the country?
    Sheesh!
No wonder the Left is winning.

  7. Peter Smith

I generally like Sheridan but he suffers from Covid derangment syndrome and otherwise, like a number of conservatives, finds Trump’s demeanour and style wanting. Personally, I find Trump’s style refreshing but more to the point I like his policies. Even more to the point, the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about. That’s what I find disconcerting about conservatives who snipe at Trump. Exactly what do they think we will get if he is defeated? Have they had a good look at Biden and those who will pull his strings – Soros and company, Islamists, Communists, Green zealots, open-border Globalists?

  8. stackja

People who only get their information from the MSM are ignorant.

  9. stackja

Biden is the presumptive nominee, but has not been endorsed by the Democratic Convention – that convention will occur between August 17th and 20th.
Even if he is endorsed he can quickly be dispatched by the Democrat’s Party boys in a late stage bait and switch.

Steve the big money on Wall Street looks to me to be backing a strong economic future if you look at the chart of the S&P 500
On this page scroll down to The Markets and select o/nite the sma 60 has crossed above the sma 120
looks like a strong move to me.

Uhh… because of the company he keeps, at least?
    https://www.businessinsider.com.au/kushner-hired-college-roommate-national-covid-coronavirus-testing-plan-2020-7

Efforts to build an advanced testing and tracing operation nationwide were scrapped, the report said. One explanation said to have persuaded Kushner to ditch he plan was a sentiment in the White House that outbreaks would be confined to blue states, providing cover for the Trump administration to blame Democratic governors for the pandemic’s damage.

He only hires the best people, folks. The best.

  13. Gerard

Detailed COVID response is a state issue and many states have been determined to make the numbers look worse than they are and to obstruct recovery.

I read that article Colonel, and it has “a report said”, there was a “sentiment” and “a participant said”.
Best to be sceptical of things like that, on any side of politics.

  16. Ceres

Greg Sheridan has lost the plot. Thinks herd immunity is a wacko jacko idea, loathes Trump. Credlin never challenges him on details and so he rambles on. It is insane that Biden will be the alzheimer’s nominee that’s why even the Democrats know the VP pick will be the President if they win (insanity on steroids). Susan Rice or Kamala Harris? (mega insanity).

  17. Kneel

“…determined to make the numbers look worse than they are…”

They have good reason – Covid cases are federally funded, others are not.
Follow the money… especially other peoples money.

  18. Genghis

Like others have commented the States control health and the Wuhan Virus outbreak, more so than even Australia. Remember when Trump cautioned against the spread Nancy P was urging Californians to hug a Chinese. She should be the one blamed.

  19. stackja

    USA Democrats always create problems.

  20. Tom

It looks like the Dems are going to propose the Jamaican, Kamala Harris, or even an Obama-era reheat (Michelle Obama) as the next US president — backdoored into office as Biden’s No.2 once he quits as the extreme left’s senile puppet — if the Dem strategy of using state governors and city mayors to tank the Trump economy is successful on November 3.

I don’t think the American electorate is stupid enough to fall for it. It should be a Trump landslide, but that would occur only if the news media wasn’t in Biden’s pocket with its neverending rollout of Democrat Party talking points presented as news through 2020’s non-stop political riots, which the party has endorsed without exception.

Unfortunately, we can’t assess the performance of the domestic US MSM from here without experiencing it first-hand, but, by all accounts, it’s 24/7, relentless, unprecedented and makes the Australian news media look good by comparison — Orwell’s 1984 reimagined by a lunatic.

Orwell’s only predictive failure 70 years ago is that he thought there were limits to human evil.

The Trumpster is even trying to protect the Europeans from themselves:
    https://www.rferl.org/a/pompeo-u-s-will-do-everything-to-stop-nord-stream-2/30757543.html
Pompeo Says U.S. Will ‘Do Everything’ To Stop Nord Stream 2 Project
“We will do everything we can to make sure that that pipeline doesn’t threaten Europe,” “We want Europe to have real, secure, stable, safe energy resources that cannot be turned off in the event Russia wants to.”

  22. Steve

Biden will pick a black, female VP running mate and 3 weeks out from the election they’ll change places.

  23. This guy is all over the place. What qualifies Sheridan to write opinions analysing US politics or Covid? Does he have any background in either topic? As an opinion writer all he seems to have as gravitas is old age and years of writing as a journo in a broadsheet. In 15 years will we be praising PVO because he is also grey haired?

  24. Richard Bender

How? Easily. Because any sane person would not support a person who thinks the government should be able to interfere in the operations of private companies such as Twitter or Facebook. Because any sane person would not support a person who both thinks it is acceptable to cancel an election and is so ignorant of the limitations of his own powers that he thinks he can. Because any sane person would not support a person who establishes an unnecessary space force and rubs salt into the US taxpayers’ wound by equipping it with horses. Because any sane person would not support a president who sends in federal agents to shoot, abduct and gas protesters who are not presenting any threat to federal property. Because any sane person would not support a president who characterises white supremacists as very fine people. Because any sane person would not support a president who harms the interests of US consumers and business by increasing the price of imports.

Now, I could equally produce a long list of why no sane person who support Joe Biden, either. The fact the next US presidential election is a Hobson’s choice does not mean people have to be nice to either candidate.

  25. Rex Anger

    @ Richard Bender-

When you snort crayons, try to put them into your nose first. That way, they don’t end up going up your arse sideways. You’ll find you get less butthurt and grouchy that way…

Furthermore, cite some talking points that haven’t come from the Democrats’ PR wing. I know that might take more work than copy-pasting the points sheet you get emailed to you every 15 seconds by your Open Borders/Hope Not Hate/Antifa handlers, but it makes your claims more convincing.

Also, Orange is Not the New Evilbad.

Now go away and sulk. Or at least try to be more inventive with your invective.

  26. Lee

Because any sane person would not support a president who sends in federal agents to shoot, abduct and gas protesters who are not presenting any threat to federal property.

You obviously haven’t been paying any attention to what is going on in Portland, for one.

Because any sane person would not support a president who harms the interests of US consumers and business by increasing the price of imports.

How is it harming the interests of US consumers and business?
The opposite I would have thought, especially for business, which has to compete with imports.
    TDS on steroids.

  27. gowest

All you hear and see is the noisy lefties, carrying on like cut snakes both here and in the USA.
The Quiet Americans have their baseball bats ready for November, just like the Quiet Australians waited to slaughter Bill Shorten at the ballot box.
The Biden/ Michelle Obama plan is pretty much the same as Bills – tax the job makers to put the workers back in their box/ help China and spend heaps on woke stuff for their elite friends.
The only way Trump will be stopped is via mailed vote fraud – This will be child’s play for the enablers of the FBI/Muller/impeachment farce.

  28. Bad Samaritan

I may have already explained what the betting exchanges are telling us about the upcoming US election, but will do so again regardless….

On Betfair there’s $96 Million been matched, of which $27 Million is for Biden, and $56 Million for Trump. The rest is on the others (Hillary at $120, etc). Biden is the $1.62 chance and Donald at around $2.80. If Biden wins, the losses to Trump supporters will be moderate. If Donald wins, the Biden supporters will lose very big-time. This means that a favourite victory will cost the layers (playing the bookie role) a huge amount.

If the exchange was a bookie (a smart money-making type of guy in charge) this would never have been allowed to happen. Bookies work on losing a little or making a little when favs win, and making a huge fortune on the outsiders when they get up. Hence the old cliche from racing commentators when the outsider is coming hard down the outside “and the bookies are cheering”.

OK, so net result, the Biden supporters are being suckered by the Trump supporters. Also, Rassmussen has Donald marginally ahead at this point = Biden supporters are about to be fleeced by the hard-heads backing Trump……just as they were when backing Hillary in 2016. Cheers.

I have no USA vote, but if I did, Donald would be my choice. Wild and wacky, not demented like creepy uncle Joe.

  31. Colonel Crispin Berka

    Candy.
    fair enough.
Though if you ignore the dubious statements and focus on the obvious verifiable events, you’ve still got the fact of the dud tests being delivered, the cronyism on the team, and the fact Vanity Fair obtained a copy of Kusher’s plan that was leaked to them probably by the insider – which can be called out as fake at any time if it really is fake and yet neither McEnany or anyone else from Kushner’s team has specifically said so.

The main source of the BI article is obviously Vanity Fair. It’s not all son-in-law-of-bad-orange-man bad though. It also hints that the reason Trump was saying back in February “It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear,” is because Dr Birx was projecting that from her models. So he’s taking the heat for dud advice from Birx / Fauci. Not too bad for a guy who disclaimed any and all responsibility for Covid19 deaths in the USA.

    “Devout Catholic” Sheridan

Reminds me of that other “devout Catholic” Malcolm Turnbull.

  33. Iampeter

Supporting Trump is so sane that it leaves you with no grounds on which to oppose Biden.

  34. Because any sane person would not support a president who sends in federal agents to shoot, abduct and gas protesters who are not presenting any threat to federal property.

They’re violent rioters. They are organised.

    It’s domestic terrorism.

  35. Supporting Trump is so sane that it leaves you with no grounds on which to oppose Biden.

If I had to choose between vulgarity and senility, I would choose vulgarity every time.

You really should not have a senile person in charge of the world’s largest nuclear arsenal.

  36. Indolent

What concerns me most is cheating. The Democrats cheated in the last election and literally plan to steal this one – to the point where the media would report false results (and you just know they would). Not to mention mail-in voting. If they can keep the election honest (a big “if”), then, yes, Trump would win in a landslide.

  37. Kneel

“My name’s Joe and I’m running… you know the thing!
Why am I running? Shouldn’t we slow down in case someone gets hurt?
We’ll do the right thing – no, wait, right is bad, we’ll do the left thing. The left thing.
    Where’s my other shoe?”

Joe, Joe! He’s our non-binary-gendered one. If he can’t do it, no-one…. something.
We’ll get on that… just as soon as we fix win this election thing.

  38. LBLoveday

Almost a year now that I stopped reading Sheridan’s increasingly bizarre columns, and reading articles like this reinforces the wisdom of that decision.
