Is Bunnings still part of the UN conspiracy and being granted exemptions?
I would be embarrassed to be the PM and describing this as a ‘disaster’ (the virus) – obviously the government’s response to it is.
Millions Protest In Germany Against Restrictions
Things like cancelled birthday parties and weddings may not seem to be a big deal in the overall picture. But, they are a very big deal to those who are affected, and that goes double for limiting attendance at funerals.
All these little pinpricks of hurt to individuals add up to a lot of pain.
If there was an ironclad case for inflicting the pain to save, say, thousands of lives that could not be saved any other way, that is possibly justifiable.
But, no such iron clad case exists.
Combined with the economic destruction, it is as though certain Dear Leaders have a sadistic streak.
Nah, just informing you what 73.77% represents when converted using the communist mathematical system.
But it’s not binary, is only an interpretation and can be whatever you want it to be…depending if you are writing for an audience.
Bunnings is shut for walk ups.
But open for pick up orders, contactless, natch.
So one can still order a dozen rakes, pay online and go pick them up.
What I do know is that they are human beings, each with their own unique personalities, values and rights as citizens. What I do know is that smearing groups of people with foul stereotypes is un-Australian, cowardly, and a symptom of paranoia. This targeting and vilifying is a behaviour that, if it gains a head of steam, leads to chaos and tragedy. Just look east across the Pacific.
My country has been generally free of this activity, but a quick perusal of this website and others like it, show there are a minority of individuals who harbour ideas that lead straight down that track. They are attracted to sites like these because they can broadcast their putrid philosophies anonymously. They see violence as the solution to all ills and have no regard for Australian values of a fair go and tolerance.
I’ve had a longer and more varied life than you have, in a range of occupations and locations, and have lived in situations that have led to an accurate assessment of the rights and obligations of myself and others. I’ve never felt “miserable and threatened” because I’ve respect others, irrespective of ethnicity, religious affiliation or wealth.
I’ve worked for over 40 years with people that you call “spacks” and that you and your ilk fear and despise.
I’ll tell you something for nothing – as a group, they have more to offer when it comes to sincerity, integrity and honesty than the likes of most of the self satisfied troglodytes who post here.
If you feel “miserable and threatened” old mate, go and do a shift at your local soup kitchen. You’d be surprised at how much better you’ll feel afterwards. Or better still, offer to volunteer at Henbury. Working in a special school is a great cure for misery and paranoia.
Now that is hilarious. You get stuck into a vulnerable group of people because they get a fair go. You remind me of the self-entitled pricks who complain because they get a bluey for parking in a disabled space.
You have concocted a convoluted fantasy which causes me (and those I share it with) endless mirth. You should really take up writing children’s fiction. There’s quite a market for it. Given most of what you write, you’d have no problem maintaining a suitable reading age (around RA 7 – 8 is well pitched).
That sequence is another concoction. Go back and look at what I wrote – or better still, get Mater to do it for you.
That’s after he’s posted details of his alleged service, of course.

That will screw them (so to speak).
91.3% of their business comes from people going in for a packet of 8 gauge gal screws and buying a ride-on mower.
Hmm yes a sympathiser of Castro telling us about non-violence and tolerance.
Shut up you insufferable jerk.
Thanks Calli. That is exactly the Plan B that I have been talking up 🙂
‘NamBob time to open the windows on that hermetically sealed MX-5 of yours. Let in a bit of fresh air.

There’s trouble in Chile though. Perhaps that’s it.
Was looking forward to seeing Santiago too. But the rioters decided that rioting was more fun than tourism dollars.

You just knew there was a monologue coming from the White-Knighter-Savant.
Doesn’t change anything from my previous post on the Inner Melbourne houso filth. You don’t know, Liability Bob. You’re the stereotyper, in fact, and you’re grasping at the concept. It’s not the ABC houso show that Desky reviews from time to time.
Did you ‘share’ your views on the Kennett evacuees time-travelling? No? Thought not.
Tell it to the Marines. From your couch fort.

I find it interesting that Old Yeller reckons one of his greatest (and most pompous) zingers is:

Perhaps there has been an earthquake in Chile and there’s a tidal wave coming!
Knowing the media, Victorians could be protesting in their thousands and you wouldn’t know.
Even other Victorians would not know.
People don’t lose their businesses without being so fucking angry they’d be ready to kill.
Many of them.
What is stopping them is the Karens of Australia.
Even up here, they’d scream the house down if they saw a Victorian Number Plate.
Such is the INSANE hysteria.
Many of these women have very docile husbands.
These arseholes suck the big one.
As I said at the start of this, you can’t do anything while the women are screaming hysterically and tearing the more sane women to shreds.
Australians don’t fire up, they wait for somebody else to.
I’m staying sane, and still fighting, and it’s most likely going to destroy me and my family, but it will destroy all.
And that includes the lives of those that supported this and wanted it.

Well said, Struth.
There will be more movement from the construction industry especially with tradies as alot of times you have sparky interact with the plasters on site. So with the reduction of workers on a site, you don’t get that continuity or interaction. Just means more trips back and forth.

Education is underrated.
Chairman Dan forecasts Stage 5:
“But what is clear is that if we don’t do this now, if this doesn’t work, then we’ll need a much longer list of complete shutdowns.
“It’s hard to imagine what a stage five might look like, but it would radically change the way people live, not just rules on when and where you can go shopping — but restrictions on going shopping at all.
Sounds like an NC.

BoN, my personal version of identifying leftism as neurosis is reading the agony columns at Slate’s Human Interest forums. These people live in a self-created world of pain about the most trivial things. For example, recently someone wrote in because they were horribly conflicted about whether dropping by a new neighbour’s place with a home-made cake to say welcome would be condescending and racist. The reason? The writer was white and the new neighbour was Latino.
They are very unhappy people, and it’s all their own fault.
Approaching him with meat cleavers.
Why not ask him directly, you pathetic stoush troll. lord, you’re a pathetic stoush troll piker. One of the worst.

Can’t Pirate Pete and pals just lay off Israel Folau?
Mark Powell / The Spectator
Israel Folau is in the news again, and this time it’s for something he didn’t do. Over the weekend Folau was the only person—players and officials included—on the field to not take a knee in support of Black Lives Matter. To his credit, the coach of the Catalan Dragons, the French rugby union team Folau now plays for, issued the following statement:
As a club we are completely against racism and all for equal opportunity. But there were some players and staff who made the decision not to take the knee, that was based on personal choice and we decided we would respect anyone’s personal choice on the matter.
But that wasn’t enough for Nine Entertainment columnist Peter FitzSimons who tweeted:
It’s clearly been a while since FitzSimons has cracked open a Bible. Because as one of my fellow clergy were quick to point out the obvious truths that he was missing.
As has now become clear, the Black Lives Matter™ organisation is not only deeply anti-Christian — as evidenced in its own What We Believe statement — but has also produced the bitter fruit of even greater racial disharmony and acts of violence. This is precisely what Jesus himself warned his followers about regarding those who are false prophets (see Matthew 7:15-20). What would God want? He’d tell people to watch out for and have nothing to do with them! Thus, what Folau is doing is completely in keeping with the teaching of the New Testament.
But there is another—more significant—problem with what FitzSimons is saying. And that is this, why should Folau be bullied by certain sections of the media into doing what he doesn’t want to do? What is it with the left that they feel the need to patronisingly educate people from other cultures about what is, and is not, socially acceptable?
For someone who doesn’t believe in God or the Bible FitzSimons sure can be preachy. It’s just a shame that FitzSimons didn’t listen more when he was at Peats Ridge Sunday School. Because maybe he would’ve heard what Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount when he said:
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way as you judge other, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1)
Mark Powell is the Associate Pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Strathfield.
They should be more conflicted about their severe mental illness and full franchise as an elector.
Its an auto. You operate it like a manual for those downshift and go moments, but while I would like a stickshift myself it seems the ladies of the family are over manual labour.
Obviously referring to Catallaxy posters who are sooking about wearing masks.
Thanks, Housewife and so many others, for your condolences. We’re burying Mum tomorrow with the maximum allowed mourners, after spending today tell her friends they couldn’t come. Grey, raining and damp Melbourne cold — a day for a funeral from Central Casting.
On another note, wouldn’t it have been lovely to have a PM who, instead of bowing before Premier Phlegm’s absurd panic (mind you, it does mean he won’t be getting grief in parliament), said something like:
“Dirty Dan, I’m not abetting any more of your mismanagement. End this absurd state of emergency now!”
Alas, just more mush from the wimp.
What a jerk.
1. Someone imagining their hospitality is racist.
2. Someone refusing to give up a civil liberty, after half a year ago, they were advised not to wear a mask by the government, which now wants them (or will coerce them) to wear a mask.
Reality does not change as convenient for your preferred political party.
Because they are totalitarian nutcases, as has been now scientifically proven (thanks Bruce) and as demonstrated here daily by the lying clown show, numbers. His Socialist wet dream is being deployed in Vic now, resulting in total economic devastation and draconian theft of liberties. This is what Socialist winning feels like.
Not me. I am sooking about the amazing circus of irrationality our public life has become.
Should we wait for the secret police, are spit on our hands now?
Nice ad from the Orange Oaf’s campaign.
Positive and hits the right note. If he gets a second term and I think he will, it could be an amazing four more years.
If he gets 8 years, eventually history will regard him as one of the top 5 prez’s.
I shouldn’t judge – haven’t driven an auto.
I would miss the rifle bolt characteristic of the manual – best shifter ever made.
Besides, because my kids lacked manual licences there’s never was an issue about borrowing the “toy“.
They’ve flown the coop so it doesn’t matter now.

areff, I believe your mother was African American.
30,000 participants is the number allowed.
un-Australian
Wait for it! The bin chicken is about to demand a Parliamentary House un-Australian Activities Committee!
areff!
Looking across the Pacific, Numbers, all I can see is the result of a lot of very bad theorising and teaching of a generation that is now expressing in physical violence the sentiments embedded in that theorising and teaching: viz – judge people entirely on the colour of their skin and the attitudes you believe they should hold because of that, and not at all on the content of their character. Separate people by race and other attributes in a confected name of ‘diversity’.
Tenants in public housing high rises are definitely human. Some of them are my relatives and affines passing through these situations in the past twenty years, some are still there. Seeking accommodation for a homeless one, the female ‘provider’ I spoke to once said she would not consider a public housing high rise for him as he was ‘better off’ sleeping on the streets, or in his case in a cave in the cliffs off Bondi, overrun with rats. I disagreed and opted for the high rise. He ended up with low rise, good. But my grandson’s schiozophrenic mother ended up in John Northcote Towers (suicide towers, to the locals) where I had to race and comfort her when in the first two weeks there someone went over. I also took a can of white paint and painted out the filthy graffiti in the lobby on the 13th floor where she was, so she and I and especially my little grandson didn’t have to see it. Self-help, the only thing that worked; I am no heroine, but needs sometimes must. In another place, with another one, I cleaned out the human faeces in the communal laundry. You couldn’t get anything done, simply got put on a wait-list no matter how urgent the need for maintenance. The housing offices were run in the way that Daniel Andrews runs a hotel quarantine: with painstaking bureaucracy going round in circles pretending to work, without any system or common sense.
Stereotyping comes from the reality in this case, Numbers. That’s the reputation these places get, for all of the reasons we know of, and we know too that living in these towers is socially isolating and depressing for many there via poverty alone, who fight their way through the prevailing despair, mental illness, violence, criminality and drug dealing that goes on in ALL public housing, not just the high rise towers. Public housing tends to aggregate disadvantage. There are other alternatives used in other countries but not put into policy in Australia. The Richmond Report in NSW closing all of the psychiatric long-term facilities for supported community life simply dumped the problem into the towers and desperate streets of the low rises, which is part of the problem. Another one in the care of the community, says Hairy as we drive by an underpass encampment of some homeless soul.
If you want to do some good, Numbers, talk to some of your leftie mates about the above, where practical solutions would be welcome. A broom through some of the policies and processes would be admirable.
Shouldn’t Folau as a dark skinned man, be allowed to make his own mind up if he kneels for ‘black’ people or not ?
No it’s all hunky dory, thanks for pointing it out.
Really could you be that ignorant?
Some Australians would pretend to be cool with being gang r a ped, thinking if they show a reaction the r a pist wins…….while the r ap ists all wipe their dicks and laugh in your face.
Pathetic.
Bandanna man is the only white person I know to call a black person a gorilla on TV & have zero consequences.
The scene at stitch ‘n bitch today – bespoke face masks for the community centre workers. And family members who want them.
Much nicer than those horrid throw away ones and they can be washed. If we’re going to be made to wear the stupid things, at least they can be individualised.
Also – forget the rush on toilet paper. Elastic is now rarer than hen’s teeth.
Weak talk, coming from someone who hasn’t got the balls to back up their own words.
You’re a pathetic liar & coward.
Prove me wrong by linking to stuff that backs up your words.
Until then, just a snivelling little turd who doesn’t engage in any male hobbies.
“Thanks, Housewife and so many others, for your condolences. We’re burying Mum tomorrow with the maximum allowed mourners, after spending today tell her friends they couldn’t come. Grey, raining and damp Melbourne cold — a day for a funeral from Central Casting.”
My thoughts are with you areff. As someone who believes…I believe her soul is now in a better place and has returned to our creator. I wish you long life.
So what is Andrews’ long term plan once the Victorian economy implodes, beg the Feds for cash ?
#Igobrokewithdan
No, sell Victoriastan to the Chicoms.
The only logic to his plans is the destruction of everything giving the Chicoms an opportunity to buy into the wasteland.
Sorry, just remembered, it was the eleventh floor, not thirteenth. Gotta keep truthful or else someone will come in and say there’s no lift lobby on floor 13 (tho I think there is but you know what I mean).
Easy to forget.
Anyone know if 1735099 has addressed the unfortunate…er… timing issue… in his reason for why people were moving into Joh’s Queensland?

Claimed nobody addresses his comments head on.

Stupid, or coward?

Alex Umansky moved from the former Soviet Union to New York in 1987, two months before Black Monday wiped out 22% of stock market value in a single day. The event left a lasting impression on the 17-year-old, though he scarcely knew what the stock market was at that time. “I really wanted to be a lawyer, but I didn’t speak any English,” says Umansky, who left the former Soviet Union as a Joo..ish refugee and had one year to learn English in the U.S. before going to college. “My family told me that I should either be a computer programmer or a finance guy.”
He did both, getting his bachelors in finance, information systems, and mathematics on a scholarship from New York University. In his junior year, Morgan Stanley recruited him to be an analyst, and by the time the next big market crash happened—the dot-come debacle—he was managing a technology-focused fund. “I learned the lesson that I never want to be pigeonholed into a single sector,” he says. “There’s just nowhere to hide.”

Well-oiled leather can substitute for elastic … to some extent … if you can buy a suitable grade of leather … roo skin would be my first choice for this type of application. Annoyingly, often roo skin is sold very dry and you can’t rush the oil soaking in, might take a few weeks before you get it to the right feel.
If you can still obtain velcro then making it easily adjustable is also achievable.
Regular washing in detergent will require oiling again but that’s at least quicker.
Areff, looking at the weather maps (I ignore the BoM forecasts) you are going to have a sad occasion on a miserable day in a miserable city. Sucks to be you. 🙁

Funerals are even more sad in this time of social isolation and limited numbers, Areff, because people really do need to hug each other and cry together. A good friend of mine passed away a month ago and we could have 20, so I could go, and we did hugs too in spite of the ‘advice’. They also did an online streaming, which others tell me they found very comforting. Hope you can do this for your mum’s friends and join them later too on Zoom.
And remember her with the music, whatever she liked. And the photo compilation. And a few words.
Men cry at funerals. Especially when it’s their mum. Take care. xxx

The Victorian economy is like a slow motion train crash.
Did anyone read the piece in the Weekend Oz Magazine, the sort that writer specialises in, the lives of ordinary folk? Lovely portrait of a long-term group of women, friends from the 80’s as mums and members of a local netball team, who have seen each other through years of life, the ups and downs of it, dramas and traumas and fun all shared together, memories of their netball days although no longer playing, doing things together as a large group and in smaller spin offs of threes and four.
I have a group of friends like that, associated with my dance classes, and the support we give each other is monumental. Each of us is our own person, differing backgrounds, different ages, some very well off, rich even, some less so, some widows, some single mums, some happily married, a few less so, one Chinese woman who lost her son in tragic circumstances, a Sri Lankan girl with glorious smile, most have known each other for years (15 years for me, but some went to primary school together). There’s room for newbies sometimes too, and our leader a woman in her 70’s an inspiration to us all.
These are not all of my friends, but they are a very special collection to know and indeed to love.
Little groups of women everywhere do gather like this, hidden in the interstices of the world.
That train crash will speed up significantly come Wednesday morning.

Basic info
Really odd to see the Chinese foreign ministry weighing in on the fate of a Cayman Islands social media app. Did Tiktok forget to inform China that they have nothing at all to do with China??
What? The walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge didn’t fix the child-raping, the woman-beating, the alcoholism and drug-taking? not even when lead by the Johnny Come-lately to Do-gooding Sir William Dean? For Shame”
That’s right…wasn’t the walk across the bridge meant to fix the child-raping, the woman-beating, the alcoholism and the drug-taking?
Wasn’t Krudd saying “sorry” back in 2008 meant to fix the child-raping, the woman-beating, the alcoholism and the drug-taking?
and on and on it goes…and yet nothing seems to fix the child-raping, the woman-beating, the alcoholism and the drug-taking. But don’t you worry…because they have now come up with the perfect solution to fix the child-raping, the woman-beating, the alcoholism and the drug-taking…..
A First Nations Voice to Parliament! The voice to parliament would be a representative body giving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders a say in law and policy”

For real? Wow. I had heard that Krupp developed cast steel barrels and dropped the price of artillery amazingly from the 1850s, and was stoked to see one of their Oranje Vriestaat guns improving the Boer War memorial in Kings Park.
I had visions of a bore mold core with high thermal capacity and some coolant control to get it crystallising from the bore out, to get a positive stressing from the outer, later crystallising layers trying to contract around the bore, and load the internal stresses in the direction of compressing the bore. I am agog to see how the casting was actually done!

Sources Say Joe Biden Is Reaching the Point of No Return, Democrats Will Have a Decision to Make
Is Joe Biden reaching the point of no return mentally? That’s the word from Dan Bongino, who shared earlier today that he’s hearing from sources close to the situation that Joe Biden is worsening and that Democrats will have a decision to make soon.
I was Karened today, which surprised me to the point that I couldn’t react.
At Aldi, I was being being polite as usual when a very elderly lady started screaming that I was threatening her life because I wasn’t masked.
In rural QLD?
Everybody else in the shop was equally unmasked. I glared at her ancient male companion who replied by pulling out a mask and firing visual darts at me.
Sadly, we are familiar with this ‘Morning Show’ created terror, because we work with isolated elderly folks (charity) and try to convince them that their kids would be horrified by the unnecessary fear that they are subjecting themselves to. We invite them around, but they never come. All of their social groups have been shut down. Terrifying.
We took some food out to Wifie’s Genie group which has resisted the panic. An elderly lady (94 yo) turned-up and announced that she had been kidnapped by her Brisbane daughter but had escaped.
“But those idiot girls at the Q Transport outfit told me I can’t drive”. In a loud voice she said “F Um”.
Love country folks.

Yes. I really, really need to go watch The Battle of Britain again…
Just watched AFL 360 discussing the predicament of Nathan Buckley playing tennis with Alicia Molik and being fined (half of) $25,000.
Massive but predictable overreaction from Mark Robinson. Reckons Buckley should have been fined $100k or $200k during his spit-flekked rant. How could he not know what he did was wrong????
Well Robbo, here’s a couple of questions you could have asked the AFL on Buck’s behalf: How could it possibly be safe to run, exercise or socialise with Molik but unsafe to play tennis with her? How could it possibly be safe to play tennis with her on some days but not others? Who is making up these stupid rules at the AFL?

Don John of America, the last Knight of Christendom.

Let’s hope the fraud occurs equally on both sides.
Poland, the bad boy of Europe, recently got another big black mark. The trouble this time had to do with an institution you might be forgiven for not having heard of, the Council of Europe’s Istanbul Convention on Violence against Women. Under pressure, Poland ratified this convention in 2015. Now, however, following Andrzej Duda’s election victory a few weeks ago – with Duda having run on an unashamedly traditionalist and Catholic ticket – Poland has announced that it intends to give the required six months’ notice to pull out of it.
The outrage has been predictable. Women in Poland have been demonstrating clad in Handmaid’s Tale costumes. The Council of Europe and a number of MEPs have slated the decision as ‘alarming’ and ‘disgraceful’. Guy Verhofstadt, not to be outdone, has called the affair ‘scandalous’. He went on to tell us, didactically as ever, that ‘violence is not a traditional value. The EU and all of its members signed because Europe stands for human rights, equality and decency.’
One thought bubble here though. What is the point of committing vote fraud in California? Buying any votes in California.. you have to be seriously freaking stupid.
It’s not as if Bucks is a brainless wag who needed ‘goddess time’ at a spa.

@ Jupes-
Hey Rex when is the HVR reopening?
Thanks to the hilarity engulfing Viktoristan and the associated pushback of Stage 5 (why McGowan? Why?), kickoff of the Steam Rangers has been pushed back until mid-August.
Not all is doom and gloom, however. The Forest Train to Etmilyn has run almost completely booked out for some time. And a track inspection of Dwellingup-Isandra was planned in the last fortnight or so. Chances are it is already done, or due very soon.
Was that the one that needed to make a phone call to get it to detonate, but was facing the wrong way when it went off and only managed to paint the wall with his insides rather than taking the targets out? That was a good one that one.
And condolences for your mother too.

What a guy Craig Kelly is: he’s up to speed about the great Hydroxychloroquine; he said, since it is an established drug with known side effects and proven efficacy against malaria, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus and a host of other ailments, and has proven efficacy in the early stages of the chunk virus, is cheap, readily produced and distributed, it should be left to the doctor/patient relationship for use and not be banned by shiny arsed, lick-spittled bureaucrats and gutless, fart-brained pollies.
Well, he didn’t say the last part but I’m sure he’d agree. Especially since the chunks use it to treat their virus.
