    Eureka, he said!

I sort of presume we will not see hide nor hair of Global Victoria bureaucrats after their Delusional self congratulatory video . To actually boast of how to conduct a farce and then end by telling us that a family with young children got their first breath of “fresh air “ in 14 days on leaving . You can bet the “guests “in lock down at Victorian gaols would Get their fresh air exercise.

  3. William the Conjuror

It adds that Harry enjoyed a classic bacon and egg breakfast on the glamping trip to Meno A Kwena, where they stayed in a £1,500-a-night tent complete with en-suite bathroom and private terrace.

So, why would Meghan be dogging it in the bushes?

  4. Makka

Fine fine it’s a banned miracle cure.

Verballing. Pathetic. Never mentioned cure in any way. You are naive (or is it plain stupid) in the extreme to think political vermin like Andrews would not use people lives and the scamdemic for his own self interest. That’s moronic.

I was having some sympathy for you with your struth saga. No longer. Fk off.

Ten has just announced they will commit seppuku as a network.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Natarsha Belling and Tim Bailey all axed as Ten cuts across the network (11 Aug)

Ten has embarked on a number of talent cuts across its business, including Studio 10 presenters Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Natarsha Belling and weatherman Tim Bailey.

Joe Hildebrand is reported to be in talks about his future according to documents seen by Mumbrella.

Mumbrella understands at least 20 roles will be impacted by the cuts. In a statement from Ten, the network confirmed staff had been advised of a restructuring of its news and operations department today.

The restructure will see Sydney and Melbourne as the central locations for the weekday 10 News First bulletins, with Sydney, Brisbane and Perth all hosting their bulletins out of Sydney and Melbourne and Adelaide taking place in Adelaide. Sandra Sully and Matt Burke will host the Sydney and Brisbane news. A new team will be announced to host the Perth news. Jennifer Keyte and Stephen Quartermain will host Melbourne and Adelaide.

Joe will have to go back to being a righty, and, gulp, restart his blog.

    Already happening, Rebel.

There is a general exclusion for most mere mortals, but also a host of exceptions that allow people to depart. Flights (admittedly not full) leave Australia every day. Private charter jet departures (and arrivals) are also still happening.

If you really want to go, there are ways.

  11. Leigh Lowe

My point is BrettW, that talk-back callers are meticulously screened into three categories by producers:-
    1. Set-up Hi-Alan “converts” to back up the presenter’s cause-du-jour;
    2. Overt supporters of the presenter’s cause du jour;
    3. Addled and inarticulate opponents who will be a slam dunk for the presenter to knock over (aided by the mute button and strategically placed ad breaks).
Callers to talkback radio are not selected at random.

  12. Leigh Lowe

Re talk-back, it is also worth noting that Hadlee loves a stoush with anyone.

  14. Geriatric Mayfly

Now I’m confused. Who took a slash in the scrub; him or her? Wonder if a gillie from the Royal Shoot was in attendance. On one such super luxury camping trip on the Serengeti, we were ordered to the thunderbox
some 100m distant before retiring. Any further unaccompanied visits were at your own peril. The same 5 star service was provided at 0300 as the guides set up an almighty din banging pots and pans. This was to fend off giraffes, which had come too close. They walk through the guy ropes, thus pulling down the luxury tents and causing considerable indisposition amongst the rich and famous.

Fining ICU doctors and nurses will be the way out of the COVID-recession

Melbourne intensive care doctor lashes out over parking fine
A Royal Melbourne Hospital doctor is angry about a parking fine she received. Picture: Wayne Taylor
    By MELISSA IARIA
    9 MINUTES AGO AUGUST 11, 2020
An exhausted hospital doctor on the frontline caring for some of Victoria’s “sickest patients” has lashed out after receiving a parking fine.

Royal Melbourne intensive care unit anaesthetics registrar Katarina Arandjelovic said she worked 56 hours over four days caring for some of Victoria’s most ill, only to find a parking fine slapped on her car dashboard at 10pm last night.

“In lockdown, who do you think is parking in the streets by the hospital?” she asked the City of Melbourne in a Twitter post.

“It is the doctors, nurses, orderlies, pharmacists, physios, technicians, cleaners, cooks, ward clerks.”

Katarina said it was “perverse” to fine healthcare workers right now, given the sacrifice hospital workers were making for the community during the pandemic.

The fine came after her bike was stolen from outside the hospital the day before lockdown. Public transport, meanwhile, is off limits due to the potential exposure and spread of the virus.

“We cannot work from home,” she tweeted.

“We come here, and we sweat it out under our gowns, our voices muffled under masks, learning to ‘smile with our eyes’.

“We wash our hands obsessively, hoping desperately we do not become part of That Statistic.

“We do not see our families for weeks.

“Your ‘free permits’ are long gone. There were too few to begin with. Many missed out.

“So when you send a parking inspector to Parkville, know that it is these people you are targeting.

“Slapping fines on our cars is one hell of a thank you.”

A City of Melbourne spokeswoman said vehicles parked in residential parking areas with red signs were still subject to restrictions.

“We recognise the invaluable work our health workers are doing, that’s why we’ve issued 9900 parking passes to frontline workers, including to the Royal Melbourne Hospital,” she said.

“The allocation of the temporary parking permits to frontline staff is handled by each hospital.”

Premier Daniel Andrews was even asked about the incident during his press conference on Tuesday.

A journalist asked why the ICU nurse from the Royal Melbourne hospital should have to save patients for hours-on-end and go to their car to find a parking ticket.

He said the fine was “not appropriate at all”, and would follow up on the individual incident.

    As mentioned earlier.

Donald Trump was abruptly escorted out of a press briefing by a Secret Service agent on Monday after an armed suspect was shot outside the White House.

The president was just minutes into his coronavirus briefing when a Secret Service agent asked Trump to leave the podium and quickly exit the room along with other administration officials.

Reporters were briefly placed into lockdown as members of the president’s security detail surrounded the West Wing. One Fox News correspondent said they’d heard two shots fired soon before Trump was hurried out.

Trump returned to the stage around 10 minutes later to confirm someone had been taken to hospital following a shooting outside of the White House perimeter fence.

“It seems that the person was shot by the Secret Service so we’ll see what happens,” Trump said, calling the episode “unfortunate.”

She’s not there by a long shot.

There is no reason to ban it other than playing scare politics by killing people.
THEY DO NOT WANT COVID CURED.
THEY DO NOT WANT A VACCINE (YET)

Some people here can’t work out why, if it is doing Andrews so much political harm, he keeps searching so hard for cases and deaths, banning what may help the elderly recover, (pure evil) and calling anyone who dies of a seizure, a fall or a knife fight, ffs, a covid death.

HE”S TRYING TO GET AS MANY DYING FROM COVID AS HE CAN.
The ones that aren’t dying from it are dying with it, and if you jumped out a plane and your parachute failed your death would be called covid 19
As has been the practice over much of the western world under left wing globalist control.

And still people believe figures and stories and any bullshit fed to them.

You might find I’m a bit more aggressive lately.

The study will look at the ethical standards and command culture of the secretive Special Air Service and Commando regiments from 1999 to the present day, with a focus on their deployment to Afghanistan in the war against al-Qa’ida and the Taliban.

The Australian can reveal that Chief of the Defence Force Angus Campbell has commissioned former naval officer and Anglican bishop Tom Frame to undertake the study, to be released in mid-2022.

Well I suppose it is a step up from the last ‘cultural review’ of special forces when they appointed a feminist academic to the task. (What ever happened to that by the way?) But seriously, what would an ex naval officer / Anglican bishop / history professor know about special forces culture? Isn’t that the job of special force army officers?

Diseases do all kinds of damage, most of the time people don’t even notice. I had a regular company hearing test, upon reviewing the results the tester asked if I had been sick with a virus or flu in the last 12 months. I couldn’t remember anything in particular but apparently I had 10% hearing loss in both ears that was consistent with a virus/very high fever.

The reason I ended up with a new heart was because of a virus.
I was able to pin down the period to a three day temperature and lethargy. Then nothing happened for six months. One of the nurses at handover suddenly asked me why I had a respiratory rate of 28/min. So I had a word to the RFDS doc and she was alarmed at the size of my heart. “No wonder you’re short of breath, your heart is taking up half of your chest!”
    All from a bloody virus.

Interestingly, the normally reliable Age is not letting Andrews off the hook:

Genomic sequencing carried out by Melbourne’s Doherty Institute shows a significant proportion – if not all – of Victoria’s second-wave cases may be traced back to quarantine breaches at hotels, for which the government employed private security firms.

Nationals MP Danny O’Brien asked the Premier who made the decision to use private security guards in hotel quarantine, and why that decision was made.

“The exact nature of security arrangements, their adequacy or otherwise, that is appropriately a matter for [Judge Coate] to look at,” Mr Andrews said.

Justice Coate has said there is no legal reason to suppress public discussion of matters before her investigation.

    Only political ones.

  54. Dr Faustus

The Age is also on to Professor Sutton and the End Game:

Liberal Democrat MP David Limbrick asked Professor Sutton what the ‘end game’ was.

Professor Sutton said the suppression strategy had been about “driving cases down as far as is humanly possible” but elimination was impossible because there would always be returned travellers who could bring the virus in with them.

“There may be a path that has very, very low case numbers with a kind of baseline level restrictions, universal mask wearing, changed human behaviours very broadly applied across the population that can keep numbers low,” Professor Sutton has said.

So, a boot stamping on a human face forever.

Good lord I didn’t even know some left wing maniac tried to shoot The Don.

Story Ive seen doesnt have a “reason” yet.

So it might be a nutjob, stupidity or an attempt on Trump.

If we dont have a motive by 18:00 this evening then we know it was a black clad person with “ACAB” tattooed across their forehead and “death to RepubliKKKans” stenciled on their t shirt who left their 400 page manifesto “why Im going to shoot Donald Trump” on his private black block/Antifa webpage.

A mystery as to their motive really.

The questions I’d like to see asked by journalists and the opposition is how many going into ICU are surviving and how many of those who actually died were put on palliative care pathways.

And the point I was non hysterically trying to make is that in the scheme of things covid, Victoria still had a miniscule number of deaths.

Coronavirus Australia live news: Linda Reynolds: ADF ‘offered Victoria help on multiple occasions’
Linda Reynolds has slapped down Daniel Andrews’ claims over ADF personnel.

    @RemyVarga

    Victorian Political Reporter

    Imogen Reid
    Journalist

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds says the ADF was “consistently advised” Victoria did not need army assistance with the hotel quarantine system, which is thought responsible for unleashing the state’s second coronavirus wave.

It follows Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews earlier telling a coronavirus inquiry that it was incorrect to say there were “hundreds of ADF staff on offer and somehow someone said no.”

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Ms Reynolds said an application for 850 ADF personnel to assist with quarantining returning travellers was made on March 27 before it was withdrawn the following day.

“ADF officials asked whether Victorian authorities required assistance with its mandatory quarantine system on multiple occasions,” she said.

“No request for quarantine support was subsequently received from Victoria at that time.

“On 12 April 2020, Victorian authorities reaffirmed to ADF officials that all quarantine compliance monitoring operations were within Victorian authorities’ capacity.”

Ms Reynolds said again a request was made by the Victorian government and agreed to by the ADF for 850 personnel on June 24.

“The request was withdrawn by the Victorian Government the following day,” she said.

“The decision to withdraw the request is a matter for the Victorian Government.”

Earlier on Monday, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews fronted a parliamentary inquiry into the state government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said he didn’t believe army personnel were available when asked why private security guards were used instead.

“I don’t believe ADF support was on offer,” said Mr Andrews.

Breaking, from the Oz. Any Opposition worth the name would eat the Hunchback of Spring Street alive, without salt, over this.

    The Whitehouse shooting was weird.

A Secret Service statement said: “At approximately 5.53pm today a 51-year-old male approached a US Secret Service uniformed division officer who was standing at his post on the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the White House complex. The suspect approached the officer and told the officer he had a weapon. The suspect then turned around, ran aggressively towards the officer, and in a drawing motion, withdrew an object from his clothing.

“He then crouched into a shooter’s stance as if about to fire a weapon. The Secret Service officer discharged his weapon striking the individual in the torso. Officers immediately rendered first aid to the suspect and DC Fire and EMS were called to the scene. Both the suspect and the officer were transported to local hospitals.

I can only imagine the SS blokes removed trump in case it was a diversion rather than a nutcase.

Australia’s Covid commission downplays ‘green recovery’ and confirms gas push

Appearing before the Senate committee examining the government’s management of Covid-19 on Tuesday, Nev Power confirmed the commission had asked the government to underwrite new investment in gas pipelines as part of recommendations from a manufacturing taskforce.

Power told senators if the government implemented the recommendations, it would play a role in boosting the attractiveness of new infrastructure to pipe gas around the country by guaranteeing off-take agreements, or “future proofing” infrastructure.

The former Fortescue executive contended governments intervening to support new gas projects was “not necessarily” a subsidy…

FMD. Not necessarily a subsidy; just putting $ billions of the National balance sheet at the disposal of “business leaders” hoping to support the pipeline of 18%+ IRR projects – that guarantee $300+/MWh electricity prices.

From that, you cannot derive the rate of infection for the bug and nor for the flu. You were wrong and now trying to cover it with abusive blather. As I said, remain silent.. or in German…. ruhig bleiben. Make sure, that’s used in “My Struggle”.

And Cronkite, this may help you understand what the infection rate means. If you still don’t get it, just holler as I’m here to help.

R0, pronounced “R naught,” is a mathematical term that indicates how contagious an infectious disease is. It’s also referred to as the reproduction number. As an infection is transmitted to new people, it reproduces itself.

R0 tells you the average number of people who will contract a contagious disease from one person with that disease. It specifically applies to a population of people who were previously free of infection and haven’t been vaccinated.

For example, if a disease has an R0 of 18, a person who has the disease will transmit it to an average of 18 other people. That replication will continue if no one has been vaccinated against the disease or is already immune to it in their community.

Trump’s fines and prison terms are rapidly diminishing the Antifa troops as they are rushing for the exit according to one very pissed off functionary linked to here yesterday. So that threat is now lessened.

On this new viral pandemic, Covid is real, highly contagious and very nasty for some, especially but not only, the very aged. My good friends in the UK suffered badly from it – his aged mother died due to it although she had well-controlled co-morbidities. She was dumped on them by the NHS slowly dying from diagnosed Covid infection, in the same way as the Twitter feeds in February show was happening to some families in Wuhan. He, a very fit man in his mid-fifties then came down with Covid very badly during the epidemic peak but although very ill, tested positive and breathless he was not hospitalised, simply given Panadol by home visit nurses and his wife told to get on with it nursing them both. Then she caught it and was not even tested. She looked like death warmed up when we Skyped her. I do not doubt they had this new disease that can kill. His symptoms were alarming, and for a week he was gravely ill. ICU with its range of skills and new treatments was clearly needed though he didn’t get it. Flattening the curve was needed and necessary, but eradication is simply chimeric. Slow progression to herd immunity was the original idea here as well as in Britain. Britain has had a controlled epidemic and many areas are through it now. I heard on the news the report of the 18 year old passing it to his father (turns out as father-in-law) and the 83 yo grandpa carking from it. That fits the natural history of this virus so far. We still have a lot of pain to come unless we get wise, open up carefully, and protect the vulnerable with isolation and/or prophylaxis (HCL Plus Xtra for me at 78 ta muchly at first positive now, tho’ I suspect we might have vaguely sore-throated our way through it in the US recently or even earlier in Oz via Wuhan contacts). Most oldies will survive with due care and good medical attention as needed. Then we should let the immunologically young and strong shoulder the weight of infection for the herd.

    Ever twas thus.

AG Barr: Democrats are now the “Rousseauian Revolutionary Party that believes in tearing down the system”

    https://twitter.com/i/status/1292575407888359430

I notice how many of the ‘responses’ use footage of film projectors to imply Barr is accusing Democrats of what the Republicans (and being near Trump means Barr is the quintessential Republican).

It is pathetically true – the left can’t meme. It is just the same joke being used repeatedly as if it is new. But each time presented as if new.

I also notice the snide implication that people on the right would not understand the reference to Rousseau.

    Likely true.

But much of the understanding of the progressives will be simply echoing what they have were taught before. Very few of them will have read Rousseau’s texts and distilled its essence. They would just have been taught “Rousseau equals this. In modern contexts it equals that. These people therefore are a bad ‘those’.”

Barr put it out there so people might look it up.

And the people who watched the video and looked up the reference will have a deeper understanding of the point being made than the ones who credit themselves with a default intellectual brilliance and nuance.

Coronavirus prompts airlines to have face mask-related ‘no fly’ lists

Refusing to wear a face mask in the age of COVID-19 can come at a price

Travelers who refuse to follow protective face masks or covers during the coronavirus pandemic may risk their chance to get on their favored major airline.

This news comes days after Alaska Airlines announced it was making face covers mandatory for any passenger over the age of two and will even issue warnings or suspend future travel for a period of time if there is non-compliance. The new protocol has been in effect since Aug. 7.

Major airlines introduced mandatory mask policies several months ago and some are keeping an internal list of names of passengers who have refused to comply.

An American Airlines spokesperson told FOX Business that the company “has added some customers to that list,” which is a policy that has been in effect since June 16.

“American already enforces this policy at the gate and will deny boarding to customers who don’t comply. American now may also deny future travel for customers who refuse to wear a face covering,” a press release issued around the time of the policy update reads. “American made this change after working in conjunction with Airlines for America on an industrywide response.”

Delta Air Lines added an involved “Clearance-To-Fly” process in July for passengers who believe they have an underlying health condition that prevents them from wearing a mask. Exemptions are granted to passengers after they receive a consultation and clearance from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Although the process exists, the Delta is still encouraging passengers to reconsider travel by air if they can’t wear a mask, according to an internal memorandum from July 23.

The correspondence, which was viewed by FOX Business, stated that Delta had banned 120 passengers from future travel with the airline because they refused to wear a mask while onboard.

Frontier Airlines is also keeping track of which passengers who won’t follow the company’s mask guidelines.

“We are maintaining a record of passengers who refuse to comply with crew member instructions by not wearing a mask and are placing them on a list that precludes them from flying with us in the future (typically for a specified period of time),” a spokesperson at Frontier wrote to FOX Business.

Southwest Airlines can ban passengers as well for not complying with its mask policy but the airline told FOX Business that its “approach” is to inform customers prior to travel to prevent people from boarding without personal protective equipment.

“As of June 16, Customers must acknowledge our mandatory face covering requirement via Southwest’s Customer Health Declaration which is presented during the online check-in process on the Southwest app, Southwest.com, and Southwest’s mobile website,” a spokesperson at Southwest wrote to FOX Business via email. “Southwest also communicates this policy in pre-trip communications and expects compliance to this policy to prevent the need to ban a Customer from future travel.”

    Oh noes!

Unzud has lost its virginity – again:

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed four new cases of coronavirus, the country’s first in 102 days.

“While we have worked hard to avoid this scenario, we have also prepared for it,” she said at an emergency press conference.

The infected people are from the same family in south Auckland.

The source of their infection is unknown.

The first case, a person in their 50s, was swabbed yesterday after presenting to their GP.

The test was processed twice and returned two positive results.

The person has no history of overseas travel.

Health officials interviewed the first positive case, and all six of their family members in the same household were tested.

Three were negative and three were positive.

Close contacts have been tested and all remain in isolation for 14 days regardless of their test results.

Purity is very demanding, and simply not achievable in the real world.
