Green totalitarianism

Sarah Hanson-Young speaking about the “anti-vaccination sentiment within her party” said this:

It’s our job as politicians to make sure the right views are being disseminated and that everyone has access to the right information.

Not a variety of views but the right views.  Not a range of information or the best information but the right information.  Right as in determined and distributed by a central government.

Stalin could not have said it better.  Oh hang on.  He did:

Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.

Surely the real story here is that there is anti-vax sentiment in the Greens party? Not that this is remotely surprising in such a militantly anti-rational, anti-science party. A chakra-stroking, dreamcatcher-weaving, unicorn-petting party.

It’s our job as politicians to make sure the left views are being disseminated and that everyone has access to the left’s information

SHY would have no idea how sinister that sentence is. To her, it is just a logical statement.

And it’s a pity we can’t control what’s said around the dinner table.

    Yet.

But, but, but … surely the Greens are the rational ones … the ones that know the truth. Just like a certain troll … he’ll be along any moment to tell us we’re all leftists and have no reason to disagree with the Greens because, really, we all agree with them since we’re uneducated and ignorant on such things ….

Of course, Sarah Hanson-Young is no arbiter of truth, and while we ought to want our politicians to apprehend truth and reality, all we really see from them is ideological posturing. It’s our job as voters to assess what the pollies tell us, and vote for the ones that align to our understandings, our hopes and our desires for this country. The Greens are watermelons …

    I’m a bit confused.

Is the right version to get vaccinated, or not to get vaccinated?

Is there a “people’s choice” option? Or is that the wrong view?

    (Consults Astrological Almanac)
    Depends.

What day is it? Which moon phase are we in? And what is currently waxing relative.to Uranus? 😛

  8. Bruce

Oh, they are “apprehending” Truth and Reality, alright and lining them up, bound and gagged, next to the well-prepared, deep grave.

  9. Terry

    ‘disseminated’

Ah yes, the “right” view (although I thought she was vehemently anti-right/anti-freedom).

‘If we want your opinion, we’ll tell you what it is, little person.’

  10. The BigBlueCat

And what is currently waxing relative.to Uranus?

You had to go there, didn’t you?

If Sarah Hanson-Sea Patrol and the Greens are doing our thinking we’re finished.

SHY’s opinion is more or less in lockstep with those many lefties who I have seen argue that that is the MSM’s job – or to put it bluntly, “the right views” that the Left approves of.

Any story involving SHY should not have her name or acronym in the link and should come with a trigger warning.

  14. Bruce of Newcastle

The problem with SHY’s views is the climate and economics ones are nuttier than a walnut orchard. So when she starts talking about vaccination people naturally draw a conclusion.

  15. Old School Conservative

Breitbart has just profiled Ricky Gervais who has again defended the rights of comedians to tell offensive jokes – without being stripped of their livelihoods.

“If it is choosing not to watch a comedian because you don’t like them, that’s everyone’s right. But when people are trying to get someone fired because they don’t like their opinion about something that’s nothing to do with their job, that’s what I call cancel culture, and that’s not cool,”

Good on Ricky. He’s a lefty who understands freedom of speech better than many “conservatives”.

huh, aren’t they the mob wailing about tolerence usually?

Or there’s the Winston view – no vaccination just because I’m feeling a bit bloody minded.

Pah! We’re strong enough to not require trigger warnings, surely?

    Or to use a meme:
“We don’ need no stinkin’ trigger warnings!”

However, more germane to the topic:
Sir Humphrey Appleby: If the right people don’t have power, then the wrong people get it!

I live in an inner Melbourne suburb which will remain confidential due to my shame that is controlled by the loony gang Greens. I attended an official council online event about commerce. Whilst expecting a welcome to country l was totally not expecting the councellor to read it out in what l only presume was an abboriginal language. I’ve now seen it all.

Only a revolution will save Australia.

    [email protected] Big Blue Cat-

And what is currently waxing relative.to Uranus?

You had to go there, didn’t you?

Yep. 😊 It started as an SHY and astrology joke, and mutated into something else entirely. Glorious.

Anybody know how to inset GIFs on the Cat? This is a perfect opportunity for that immortal moment when SHY realised she was referring to Sea Patrol when trying to smart Border Force on Border Patrol during a Senate Inquiry…

    Blinky Shill, go on… 😉

So SHY is channelling her inner totalitarian by promoting both vaccines & correct thinking.
    Big surprise.
If it wasnt for her previous record of ideological tunnel vision & ignorance, you would question her ability to think critically & honestly, & wonder if that ability could ever short circuited by gaining some material advantage.
IMO I can’t offer a solution to stop SHY’s desire to enforce correct thinking by merely trusting the experts but with her other concern regarding the ever increasing perception not just within her party, but also world wide, that [email protected] can trigger an autoimmune reaction leading to among over things, damage to a developing brain, there is a really simple solution which would quickly get to the truth & settle these unwarranted [email protected] fears.
Seeing as the experts have repeatedly assured us the science is settled & ‘that its just like injecting sugar water’, why not just remove the legal protection that [email protected] & their makers have & allow the alleged victims to sue in a normal court of law, with normal discovery process etc which has definitely not been allowed anywhere in the Western world since 1986 /1987.
To those of us old enough to remember, prior to that time, would-be parents never ever replied that they didnt care if their soon to be born baby was a boy or girl, but only that they hoped it would be healthy.
Its totally not the case today.

Love Yes Minister. The equal of Fawlty Towers.

  23. H B Bear

Inner Melbournibad local councils are exactly what Sir Humphrey was talking about.

  24. Mother Lode

    That is brilliant.

Not informed views. Not all views.

    The right views.

Have the Greens ever been right about anything?

The big spending economics they champion (and implemented by the major parties often under Green pressure) have never worked. The social policies they embrace have made the nation more divided and the people nervous about each other. The yartz are jejune and undergraduate. Institutions of excellence have lost their lustre, lost direction and lost strength, now being nothing more than petri dishes in which various social experiments are cultivated.

The baleful influence of the Greens has polluted everything.

How do you think they would have handled COVID if it was up to them to devise a response?

  25. yarpos

And really, who better to tell us whats right than SHY? What beacon of rightness.

  26. Delta A

It’s our job as politicians to make sure the right views are being disseminated and that everyone has access to the right information.

That should send a shiver of dread up everyone’s spine.

  27. cohenite

Apparently joe gave a pep talk to his minions by plucking a live chicken and then having the poor thing follow him around as he fed it some grain while the evil bastard made a comparison between the chicken and stupid people.

  28. Squirrel

Anti-vaxxers in the Greens – yippee!

Can’t wait ’til the greenies really get going on 5G – should be great fun to watch.

  29. iamok

I have just one question. How the fuck does this SHY moron keep getting elected? That is all.

  30. H B Bear

How the fuck does this SHY moron keep getting elected?

Compulsory preferential voting. Falls into the last Mainland Tasmanian Senate spot on preferences every time. Reward? Another five years on circa $200k+ and electoral allowance and expenses (think aerial whale watching with your kids). Nice work if you can get it.

  31. Judge Dredd

Then again anyone willingly wanting the COVID19 vaccination is provably stupid. That’s one “anti-vax” stance many people will make.
Who would inject themselves, or their children, with a medication they have no idea the long term consequences of in the years to come?
A medication that the pharma companies have applied for legal immunity over?
Perhaps if you’re elderly, or in a significant risk category I could see a point. Otherwise though it would be a fairly dumb thing to do.
