  1. As one commentator has said, Biden probably wasn’t even in the room when Harris was chosen. I wonder how long Biden will be upright afterwards, if he wins the election?

Kamala is Indian-Jamaican, from a haut bourgeois academic family. Does she truly understand the ‘Black American experience’?

    I doubt it.
Nobody likes to say this aloud but the Democrats prefer good-looking, slightly European-looking mixed race blacks.

When I say nobody… the exception was Joe Biden who famously described his then primaries opponent – soon-to-be-crowned rising star Barack Obama – as a “clean and a nice-looking guy” in 2007.

Jeez you’ve got to have a giggle at the headline about Harris in the Oz by Cameron Stewart.

Honestly this bloke is just so out of touch with reality along with the rest of his cohorts.

Joe sniffs out a running mate?
FDR’s health problems were not widely reported.

  6. sabena

    This pick won’t help Biden.

  7. Oh come on

Kamala is so Hillary. She even has that horrible fake hacking laugh. Kamala brings nothing to the ticket, and there are plenty of things in her past that could quite easily be weaponised against her.

  8. The funny thing is that in Finnish, kamala mean horrible.

  9. candy

She’s an attractive looking lady which would be a big factor in why they chose her.

It’s crass to think along these lines, but is she “black enough” to sway the actual black population who are a very important segment right now, and want an Obama again. will BLM be happy and can she cross the divide to be President for all?

I doubt anyone expects Biden to be President for long. His condition would not be reversible.

  10. cuckoo

Joe Biden who famously described…Barack Obama – as a “clean and a nice-looking guy” in 2007.

Or Harry Reid, who praised Obama for having “no Negro dialect”. I’d like to believe that Bill Clinton actually said what was attributed to him about Obama: unable to believe the meteoric rise of such a lightweight, he supposedly said to Ted Kennedy “A few years ago he’d have been getting us coffee”.

  11. a happy little debunker

Does she truly understand the ‘Black American experience’?

No – she identifies as an American (who is ‘Black’) rather than an African American.

Harris’s experience with slavery consists of her family being big-time slave owners in Jamaica.

The BLM people should be all over her for that… but they won’t.

  24. Colonel Crispin Berka

I was very much mistaken. I assumed Harris was too unpalatable to the target DEM-ographic.
It was also hoping for too much to expect a “Biden/Bottoms 2020” ticket, as nobody could say that with a straight face for 10 weeks. Fun to think of what the team motto would have been.
    Give 2020 the arse! Biden/Bottoms 2020.

    Jim Rickards’ Blockbuster Election Prediction

The presidential election is now less than three months away. A lot can happen in three months. But today I’m issuing a blockbuster election prediction that might shock you.

I’m not doing it to attract attention or to be controversial. I’m doing it because I believe the data point in that direction.

    Biden’s Handlers Are in Charge

Biden’s campaign has to rely on surrogates or substitutes to do in-person events. Every campaign uses surrogates, but that is done in addition to the candidate not in lieu of the candidate.

In this case, the surrogates like Jill Biden, Terry McAuliffe and Biden’s press secretary are hitting the talk shows. Biden can’t do that himself.

Meanwhile, it’s now being reported that Biden will not be going to Milwaukee for the Democratic convention. The convention was already virtual, but a few top names were expected to show up for keynote and acceptance speeches. Now that’s off.

But Biden won’t be able to hide until Election Day. Which brings me to my big prediction…

    A Blockbuster Prediction

My expectation now is that Biden will soon be replaced as the nominee soon. Democratic insiders will probably force him out of the race in the next week or so.

They don’t want to risk exposing him to the American people before the election. For Democrats, the stakes are simply too high.

One public incident or serious slip-up is all it could take to kill his chances in the election. The American people simply aren’t going to elect someone who they feel is mentally unfit for office.

Many voters obviously dislike Trump. But, no one could credibly argue that he’s suffering from cognitive decline.

    So what’s going to happen?

Democrat power brokers Will Pick Nominee

The Democrat power brokers (Tom Perez, Donna Brazile, Valerie Jarrett, Philippe Reins, AOC, John Podesta and a few others) will get in a room and pick a new nominee.

Biden will “release” his delegates, and party leadership will direct the super-delegates to support that choice. This will start a stampede among the former Biden delegates.

The Bernie Sanders delegates will already be onboard because they’ll be part of the consultation. Then the new nominee will pick a VP and the “convention” will tidy things up. The race will continue from there.

Alternatively, the power brokers could allow Biden to get the nomination and then remove him as nominee before the debates. That’s even easier because there are no delegates involved. It’s just an executive committee decision the candidate cannot refuse.

Still, the process will be a shock to millions of Americans who’ve been expecting a Biden candidacy.

  27. Herodotus

They have to replace Biden. The polls are wrong. He’s a losing proposition.
The real question is who will replace him.

The Democrat power brokers (Tom Perez, Donna Brazile, Valerie Jarrett, Philippe Reins, AOC, John Podesta and a few others) will get in a room and pick a new nominee.

They have had 3 years to come up with a nominee. Biden was what they came up with.

Any replacement HAS to be someone already registered and primaried by the states or they cannot appear on the ballots. That massively limits their options.

Harris qualifies, but she barely won 2% of the Dem votes in the primaries.

FLASHBACK: Kamala Harris Said She Believed Biden’s Rape Accusers.

Is there any reason to suppose she does not still believe them, but she has priorities higher than her princples.

  39. Mother Lode

You have to wonder whether the choice of Biden was not the choice of strategy.

A poor, lost, muddled, doddering, rambling fool. Like some fossils he is the space left from his career once he himself has long since decomposed into nothing.

Some people will feel sorry for him, tormented by things he cannot remember, bedevilled by names, places, dates (and species, as it turns out). Putting him on the spot when he is clearly unequal to the task during campaigns will look like cruelty.

Either he succcumbs to his dotage and must finally drop out so Kamala takes over as candidate (feisty, and fighting back against the bully), or he limps into the White House and gets lost on his way to the bathroom and declared officially dead one month later so Kamala takes over that way.

But even the Dimocrats must know that avuncular (if pervy) Joe will not win by command of facts and of his own faculties.

  40. Dr Faustus

In the unlikely event that the Democrat machine tips Biden out of his wheelchair before the election, they will struggle unless they replace him with unelectable Bernie. Bumping Harris into pole position would be an outrage to the left of the Party and slotting a non-Bernie, male Veep (ButtGig? Really?) in behind her would provide an endless supply of laughing talking points.

You would have to put a security bet on a medical catastrophe shortly after a Biden inauguration.

  41. Major Elvis Newton

In a desperate ploy to be hip and with it, Harris claimed to have smoked marijuana in college while listening to Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur. The only problem with this was she graduated from Howard University in 1986, and she got her law degree in 1989.

Snoop and Tupac didn’t hit the music scene until the 1990s.

Joe Biden Reads from Script While Talking to Kamala Harris on Zoom

“Biden had to read a script when he called Kamala,” wrote Posobiec on Twitter. He included a zoomed-in image of what seems to be a print-out script on the desk in front of Biden’s laptop.

Biden rarely speaks extemporaneously in public appearances — relying largely on notes and teleprompters — ranging from campaign events to interviews with news media. Over the past year, Biden has been repeatedly captured mispronouncing words, speaking incoherently, and losing his train of thought.

Asked about his cognition in June, Biden claimed he had “been tested” and is “constantly tested.” In August, he said he had not taken such a test.

Kamala Harris’s Final Poll Number in Home State of California: 7%

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) emerged as former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate on Tuesday. But her presidential campaign was a disaster: even in her home state, Harris struggled to build support, finishing at 7% in California last year.

That is interesting. She did not have the support to take the Presidency herself. Now she will become VP on Biden’s coat tails and then become President when Biden inevitably descends into complete senility.

Things were so much easier when the Republican candidate could be so easily neutered by having the MSM run scurrilous stories and then have the Republican entirely devoted to trying to put out spot fires.

Look at how they got Romney apologising to the nation for putting the family dog on the roof of the car – which was common practice at the time.

And then they delivered President Obama. And we have seen the sort of things he got up to.

This President, on the other hand, doesn’t back down. He escalates.

    POLITICAL COMMENTARY
Race Pits Dream Prosecutor Against S.F.’s Nightmare DA
A Commentary By Debra J. Saunders
    Sunday, September 26, 2010

I don’t understand why San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris wants to be California’s next attorney general. Then again, it’s hard to understand why she even ran for DA — other than because she has a yen for elective office.

She hasn’t been an aggressive prosecutor. She hasn’t been a competent administrator. She seems more interested in advancing liberal causes than putting bad guys behind bars.

It is a sad testament to the Democratic Party that Harris is its chosen nominee to run against Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, a consummate lawman whose tenure could serve as a model for both toughness and fairness.

Consider her record. To start, Harris was in charge when her office aided and abetted in a dangerous misinterpretation of the city’s 1989 sanctuary city law. City officials refused to notify federal immigration officials when police arrested juvenile offenders — or offenders who claimed to be juveniles — on felony charges.

Under her watch (for lack of a better word), the city flew drug offenders to Honduras. When federal authorities stopped this practice in 2008, the city sent eight Hondurans who had been convicted to group homes, from which they escaped.

One Sunday afternoon in June 2008, San Franciscan Tony Bologna, 48, was driving home with his sons, Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. All three were shot dead. Police charged Edwin Ramos, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who had been arrested for several felonies as a youth but apparently benefited from the city’s liberal sanctuary policy.

Of course, many San Franciscans were appalled. But did Harris then comb through her files to make sure that no similar cases existed? Apparently not. A month after the triple slaying, police arrested an illegal immigrant enrolled in a Harris job-training program for offenders after he snatched a woman’s purse.

That’s right, she had an illegal immigrant who pleaded guilty to a drug felony enrolled in a job-training program — even though he could not legally get a job. “We realized that we had not in the design of ‘Back on Track’ made provisions for screening that,” Harris told the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board.

Now Harris has incurred the wrath of the city’s far left in supporting a federal program that requires communities to send fingerprints of anyone booked into jail. But when the Los Angeles Times reported the purse-snatching story in June 2009, Harris said that she had never asked and had not learned how many illegal immigrants were in the program.

No surprise, it also was under her watch that the police department drug-lab scandal erupted. Allegations that a former lab technician stole cocaine from the lab caused hundreds of drug cases to be dismissed.

Superior Court Judge Anne-Christine Massullo determined that prosecutors “at the highest levels of the district attorney’s office knew that (Deborah) Madden was not a dependable witness at trial and there were serious concerns regarding the crime lab.”

After all the scandals that have hit California law enforcement, Harris had no formal policy for disclosing damaging material about police witnesses.

By contrast, Cooley — lawman that he is — when newly elected to the job, implemented the state’s first police misconduct disclosure policy in 2002.

Why hadn’t Harris followed suit? “I’m not offering any excuses,” Harris told the Chronicle’s Jaxon Van Derbeken. “We did not have a formal, written policy. My predecessor didn’t have one, either. Most district attorneys don’t.”

Local Democrats love to tell me that they’d vote for a Republican if only they had the chance to support someone who is moderate, not an ideologue.

Tucker Carlson calls Biden-Harris the ‘first entirely hollow presidential ticket in American history’

‘There are timeshare salesmen you would trust more than Kamala Harris.’

The Democratic ticket of former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., is “entirely hollow,” Tucker Carlson argued on Tuesday.

The “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host believed that he thought Biden would pick former National Security Advisor Susan Rice for the No. 2 spot.

“Rice has sincere beliefs whether you like them or not …,” Carlson said. “But Kamala Harris is the opposite of that.

“Harris may be the single most transactional human being in America,” he went on. “There are timeshare salesmen you would trust more than Kamala Harris. You could find payday lenders who are more sincere.

  57. OldOzzie

Joe Biden Needed a Typed Script to Call Kamala Harris and Tell Her She’s the VP Pick

Biden is also holding the phone upside down. Regardless, it’s a bit odd for him to not just have bullet points for such a simple call, but to literally have to have it written out why he’s even calling her. You’d think that’d be pretty well cemented in his mind at this point, but I guess not.

And while some of this is tongue in cheek, it’s pretty clear that Biden is the most scripted, controlled candidate in modern history. Even the pick of Harris appears to be out of his hands, as you’d expect no normal human being to pick as their running mate a person who has insinuated they are a racist and agreed they committed sexual assault. But here we are, with Harris on the ticket.

Heck, CNN is even saying the quiet part out loud.

Joe Biden made the pick that maximized his chances of continuing to make the race a straight referendum on Trump while also selecting someone whose resume suggests being ready to step in, if and when Biden decides to step aside. | Analysis by @CillizzaCNN

They are already writing Biden’s political obituary and he’s not even President yet (nor is there any guarantee he will be). Harris is the real candidate at this point. The media are going to treat her like a transcendent queen. Harris appeals to all their sensibilities. Which, as my colleague Jeff Charles pointed out, is to say she makes all the white liberals in the media very excited.

Biden may be so far gone that he needs a professional script to make a simple phone call, but Harris is far more cunning and ambitious. That doesn’t make her a good politician. After all, she flamed out in December before the first primary. But it does make her someone who is willing to do anything to get to where she wants to be.

In the end, this is her ticket. Biden is just a pawn.

The alternative at the time was Bernie. The DNC machine has chosen this path.
And with Harris’ low level of primary support, she will owe everything to the machine for her nomination and will do whatever the machine says during her presidency.
