What is wrong with the Liberal Party in 1 image – Updated

Trigger warning and disclosure.  TAFKAS is not a member of a political party.

TAFKAS swore to himself to never do it again and yet he did it again last night.  He swore that he would stop watching Paul Murray Live for as long as Bronwyn Bishop was a guest.  Because if you want to see what is wrong with the Liberal Party in 1 image, click HERE.

Although not certain, TAFKAS believes that the SkyNews “on screen talent” took pay cuts because of the #CovidCrisis2020 financial shock.  Presumably also so that other SkyNews staff did not have to lose their jobs.  This of course is unlike the behaviour of the ABC who suffered no loss of revenue and the ABC “talent” in fact took pay increases yet blamed the government for ABC management’s decision to cut jobs rather than staff perquisites.

But let’s put away ABC’s hypocrisy for a moment and focus on Bronny.

There is never anything new or different from Bronwyn.  For any issue on discussion, Bronwyn’s response seems to be a standard – socialism, socialists and the government needs to use its power to do something about it.  One might suggest a touch of irony and paradox in this position, but sadly Bronwyn is not unique on this front.

This is the woman, or for the politically correct readers Person With Cervix (PWC), whose only notable achievement in near 30 years of Parliamentary service is to have ensured a very nice and comfortable defined benefit pension for herself, paid for by taxpayers of course.

This is the PWC who frequently talks about private enterprise but for whom the purpose of private enterprise seems to be to generate taxation revenue for governments to fritter and to pay her post-parliamentary defined benefit pension.

This is the PWC, who as a Senator, a Member of Parliament and as a Minister, delivered as many public policy outcomes as one can count on the fingers of a handless person.

Rather than effecting pay cuts, SkyNews should have just terminated Bronywn’s contract.  They may as well just put up a poster with a button which when pressed says “Socialism, socialism.  It’s the socialists but the government needs intervene and legislate”.  This after all is Bronwyn’s solution to everything.  Scream socialism and then demand that government use its force to control the means of production.

Addendum.

TAFKAS has been corrected.  Bronny did achieve something while in Parliament.  She put public toilets on the map.  One must wonder whether she chartered a helicopter to compare and contrast.

I can’t forgive her for the way she treated Tony Abbott during “coptergate”
I chatted to her last year when she was rattling a charity tin at me, she noticed my pommie accent and asked if I was relieved that Boris Johnson had won the election, I told her no as he was a man without principle, Lazy doesn’t do detail morals or ideology, and that he would be the worst PM the uk will ever have
    She didn’t believe me

I seem to remember she was Aged Care minister when it was found nursing home residents were getting kerosene baths and other poor treatment?
Times have not changed much and residents have been left to die of a final corona complication in the nursing homes, and not getting appropriate and kind care to the end in hospital where they should have been moved to for their last weeks.

Australian Federal Governments continue to fail the needs of nursing home residents, so Bronwyn Bishop’s terrible failure there is not isolated.

And? How is this different to any conservative today? Or of the last few decades whenever they are not in opposition?

I think the picture in this tweet captures everything wrong with the conservative movement, which is where the real issues are.

Thought I was looking at a Joker impersonator for a minute.

  5. Tom Playford

She occasionally has an idea or a quote worth thinking about but on the whole you are right, she has nothing to say except “socialism is bad” while completely missing the irony of being a cosseted public servant for her entire working life. And I can’t think of a single thing that she did in office that actually contributed to Australian society in a meaningful way.

Petey, posts like yours demonstrate beyond any doubt that for you and many (though not all) of your fellow libertarians, your role is to be the ‘second prong’ in the cultural pincer attack designed to demoralise normal people into accepting Spcialist tyranny.

Taxes can be cut. Borders can be opened. Trade can be liberalised. Policies can be changed. Legislation can be repealed. Regulations can be rescinded. And Assets can be repurchased or sold.

But Tyranny can only ever be fought.

Stop aggressively promoting Tyranny and Tyrants, IamAnUtterEmbrassmentToMyProclaimedPhilosophy, and maybe, just maybe, you might be taken seriously here.

Or just scream and point fingers at me. Take your pick.

  7. Robbo

Bronny is an idiot and always has been an idiot. Why bother wasting time and oxygen on her.

Typo corrected. Nothing ‘special’ or ‘specialist’ about tyranny at all.

Except Petey. He likes tyranny, and he is speshul…

There may have been poor treatment but I don’t put too much store on the “kerosene baths” story.

I believe that was a beat-up with which to beat up the Minister. If you recall, it didn’t last long and then disappeared very quickly. I suspect that the bath treatment was with ethanol aka rubbing alcohol, sometimes called medicinal alcohol, which is in the same chemical group as kerosene.

In 2020, however, it became famous as a sanitiser during the beat-up known as coronavirus.

Watching PML a couple of times recently I noticed a scary, withered hand sneaking into the bottom right of the screen, right from the beginning of the program. It came and went. Turns out it was BB waiting to be interviewed.

  11. Walter Plinge

“.. ethanol aka rubbing alcohol, sometimes called medicinal alcohol, which is in the same chemical group as kerosene.”

Ethanol is not rubbing alcohol. Propanol is rubbing alcohol. Kerosene is a hydrocarbon, entirely different chemical composition to the alcohols.

“I think the picture in this tweet captures everything wrong with the conservative movement,”

Like much in life, Pete, it’s picking the lesser of two evils – there is no “good” answer, only “bad” and “worse”.

    Keep police or “defund” them?
Focus on getting the local economy fixed or focus on lining politicians pockets?
Give “people of colour” the same as everyone else, or give them “speshul” status to riot and murder as they like?

Not a particularly difficult choice, really.

Trump has 51% approval rating (Obama at same point was 43%).
Among black voters, it’s 36% – if even half of that amount vote for him, he will win, and easily.
Rasmussen says: “When asked which is closer to their own thinking, 50% of Likely U.S. Voters say the police should crack down on the protests to bring them to an end.” – all the places defunding cops are dem run, not a good look.

Before CoronaDoom, US was at close to full employment – best numbers for blacks, best numbers for hispanics, best numbers for women, first middle-class pay rises in nearly a decade, businesses moving back to the USA, the list goes on.

I doesn’t actually matter what you or I think, it’s what voters in the US think – and come November, we’ll know. I suspect Trump will get in again – with an increased margin, maybe even significantly bigger. If the Repubs can manage to keep the senate majority or even gain a house majority, it’ll be amusing to watch the leftards heads explode – with no election to worry about, and the precedent already set that removing an illegal EO requires you to follow process (a drawn out thing), Trump can tie them in knots with EO’s, even if theoretically he can’t “do” things.
He’s already doing that with EO’s to extend unemployment etc. Will the Dems take Trump to court to rescind EO’s giving people assistance for coronadoom? Tricky, politically – damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Most amusing to watch from afar.

  14. Professor Fred Lenin

Its not really liberal? Is that the problem ?

  15. Tony Taylor

I don’t know if Bronny in person holds interesting views or has a great sense of humour or is basically just great company, but she’s an absolute wood duck on Murray. Surely Sky can dredge up a better ex pollie.

Apologies, yes. Ethanol is less common and IPA is the most common form of rubbing alcohol. It is a secondary alcohol but still a hydrocarbon compound, hence my confusion. Nevertheless, I believe the same confusion was behind the “bath” scare I noted above.

  17. MPH

One must wonder whether she chartered a helicopter to compare and contrast.

The problem is that from 5000 feet you can’t look for the little sign in every town like the plebs in cars do, you need them on the pilot’s map.

  18. mindfree

And Bronny’s a regular cardboard cut-out on Gary Hardgrave’s Friday night program. The only reason I watch it is that GH does have some other interesting guests but BB must have a mortgage on the third chair

  19. Rusty of Qld

    John A,
A “kerosene bath” was not a bathing in kerosene, it was something like a spoonful of kero in the bath water, great for killing lice. Kero was also used as a disinfectant for cuts and scratches from barbed wire etc, on both cows and humans, ah the great old days down on the farm.

  20. Rex Anger

The problem is that from 5000 feet you can’t look for the little sign in every town like the plebs in cars do, you need them on the pilot’s map.

Nah, pilot’s just not being brave (Or not South African*) enough… 😉

*In 2019, I volunteered to go drive Steam Locomotives at a rally on a farm in the Eastern Free State. While shunting my train out in a paddock, I recall wondering where the hell all this rotor noise was coming from, then turned around to see an ex-SAAF Gazelle, with its two very happy joyriding passengers, hovering about ankle height off the ground, 80 metres away from me. Then the smartarse pilot did a 180 and flew off. And I chewed on grass blades for a bit.

Like I said pilot’s just not being brave enough… 😜

  21. Cassie of Sydney

I’ll take Bronny any day over the likes of Kerry Chikarovski…a fake, Labor lite, failed leader who is so far left on most things that no wonder the likes of Bob China Carr was given a free reign in NSW. Chikarovski was happy on Sky last year to dump on Izzy Folau last year. Chikarovski represents everything that is wrong with the NSW Liberals…which should be called the NSW Photios Liberals…a far left rabid green organisation. At least Bronny knows who the enemy is…and isn’t afraid to speak up. Oh and I’m not excusing Bronny for dumping on Abbott in 2015.

  22. Penny

    Cassie of Sydney
You absolutely right about Kerry Chikarovski, I groan whenever she comes on to Sky, I don’t know why she just doesn’t come clean and come out as a socialist

  23. Struth

Yet compared to most others on the show, Bronny is more coherent and understands her civilisation more than the rest.
    Which isn’t praising Bronny.

  24. Cassie of Sydney

I think it is a bit rich to dump on Bronny…..she speaks plainly about the current great threats to the west and that is the unchecked march of socialism….in all its guises….leftist progressivism…..climate change….endless immigration….UN charters and treaties…..cancel culture…….threats to free speech. Bronwyn Bishop doesn’t mince words, we need more Bronwyn Bishop…not less. Pity that there isn’t more like Bronny in the Liberal party. I thought that Amanda Stoker was okay until she caved and joined the collective to vote to censure an Australian citizen for her speech in the senate….a motion put forward by two far-left progressive skanks…anyway I digress.

  25. miltonf

Paterson completely discredited himself after the Betina attack.

Unfortunately BB can’t undo her attack on TA. The helicopter ride was really stupid- just making herself a target. The media never give LNPs a free pass.

  26. GE

You could do a lot worse than Bronwyn. I don’t know why the so called right attack their own allies. We should stick together. I don’t think the helicopter ride was as bad as was made out by some. There are stories on both sides a lot worse than a bloody helicopter ride by a senior minister in parliament.

  27. Squirrel

Bronny may be a bit like a broken record, but Sky would be better to give the flick to the token Labor-ites and stick to reliable right(ish) types who won’t try to defend Andrews, or show “balance” by getting stuck into Morrison for not running an aged care system which operates like a giant, nation-wide ICU. If I want Labor propaganda there’s plenty of that on offer elsewhere.

  28. A reader

I like BB and of the guests on PML she has the most consistent positions and argues her case better than most. She is also unafraid to call out the other guests. When she finally gets a go at Molan or the defence minister over the Subs they will be well defeated.

  29. LBLoveday

That “Urinating in a Public Place” is an offence is a disgrace and at least in your example BB tried to address that disgrace as best she could as a Federal MP.
    .
The governments encourage us oldies to exercise, and to keep hydrated. But there is no way I can fill up with water then go on a long walk without a “pit stop” along the way. So I duck behind a tree or fence dreading being caught out by Constable Plod and fronting court.
    .
My state MP told me that police have discretion whether to book, but that is, to me, even worse – book a WOC? I don’t think so; OWM? Good chance. Get rid of the law, fullstop – there are laws about indecent behaviour/exposure that could be used for inappropriate excreting.
