BIDEN STAFF HERDS COMPLIANT PRESS AWAY FROM CANDIDATE

Today, the Biden campaign held a ceremony during which Joe Biden and Kamala Harris signed documents to get their names on November ballots as the Democratic ticket. “We’re going to make this official, official,” Biden told reporters.

According to the New York Post, “media availability” at the event was “tightly controlled.” Naturally, the assembled reporters wanted to ask questions of the candidates. They didn’t come just to watch Biden and Harris silently put pen to paper.

But the press was only able to get in one question, which was directed to Harris. When reporters started to ask more questions, they were told to leave. “Come on guys, let’s go,” a female staffer said several times. “Tightly controlled” is an understatement.

You can see the video here, at Red State.

What I find striking was the (Victorian) media’s compliance. When the staffer instructed reporters to leave, the lions of the press shuffled off. No one asked any more questions. At the command of a Biden staffer, the press exited stage right without a murmur.

Compare this to the way reporters behave with President Trump. When he leaves press events, reporters shout questions at him until he disappears. To be fair, reporters also did this to past presidents, though not as stridently.

In Biden’s case, however, reporters’ manners are impeccable. They understand that Biden struggles with questions he’s not expecting and could blurt out almost anything. Thus, he needs to be shielded. Reporters behave accordingly.

  14. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Beare

Dear me. Poor ‘Shelley in WA’ writing her letter in the SMH. She has been subject to various sorts of narrow-mindedness about narrow boats and wants to have her say. Can’t say I blame her at all for that.

Some relevant history on the Cat and elsewhere: First off there was lauding here about narrowboats as being so very ‘of the people’, and then the truth from me that they can be hideously expensive but whatever floats your boat etc for our friends loved theirs in spite of the costs, and now a rejoinder from Shelley that narrowboats are once more simply the people’s car and caravan equivalent. The facts are this: lots of people enjoy cruising the canals of Britain, in boats of various types and qualities and narrowness (as with caravans, indeed, although a ‘trendy’ narrowboat beats a van for cache any day). As long as they can get in the lochs, they are all narrowboats. And the lochs I believe are of various sizes, so there’s room for parsing still in the idea of ‘narrow’.

For some months on a Sabbatical in Lancaster Hairy and I lived in a newly-built apartment overlooking the famed Lancaster canal, running through the top of the town. We used to toast the narrowboats from our balcony as they went by, calling out greetings as deemed appropriate. Sinking yet? was one I recall. Our friends with the narrowboat were always threatening us with a shared week on the water, but we resisted. Now, in his older age, Hairy is re-considering the option. Might be nice, he says. These are the friends recovering now from Covid. Carpe diem time. 🙂

If you really want to up the narrowboat ante you join with other old Cambridge College friends of Hairy’s who lived on a designer-refurbished barge moored at Chelsea. It wasn’t particularly narrow, it had a slow leak, and I suspect it would not traverse many of the smaller canals but it cost multi-moola including mooring rights. To my knowledge, they never left Chelsea in it, till they sold it when another fad, for country ‘cottages’, sent them to Lincolnshire to live under Elizabethan farmhouse beams.

Can we consider narrowboats ‘done’ here now?

The orange oaf has made concern trolling into a fine art.

President Trump on Thursday predicted that far-left Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez would mount a challenge against Sen. Chuck Schumer — and defeat him.

“Schumer’s going to get beaten by her. She’s going to run against Schumer, and he knows that and he’s going to get beaten by her unless you can talk her out of doing it. He has no chance,” Trump said on “Fox News Business.”

“Chuck Schumer will be, in my opinion. AOC will run against Chuck Schumer for the Senate. Yeah, I mean, I think. And I think she’ll win,” the president said.

The 30-year-old Democratic socialist is running for her congressional seat this November after defeating a challenger in the June primary.

Schumer, 69, the Senate minority leader, was elected to his fourth six-year term in 2016.

So – Elizabethan farmhouses. We stayed in the barge-dweller’s new abode. A beautiful restoration, but still with the usual creaky floorboards upstairs, and lotsa beams, both upstairs and in the big drawing room downstairs, where all were gathering, except me. I had a headache and went thankfully to bed along the creaky corridor light only with dim electric lighting.

Now I am going to tell you my one experience of anything at all that might be sheeted home to The Otherworld. I was just drifting off to sleep when I felt something strange, like a finger running down the side of my cheek. I thought maybe Hairy had come up to see how I was doing, but I turned on the light and saw nothing. So I turned it off and drifted into a doze, and it happened again, this time a firmer more insistant caress, as though someone was checking that I was still there, still alive. Light on, still nothing there. I read for a while and told myself it hadn’t happened. Nothing after that; I slept well.

The next day they were idly talking about the ghost that wanders along the corridor upstairs. Seems others had felt a ghostly touch in that room too. This was all said before I let on that I had felt it too.

    A mouse? A moth? or a Ghost?

  49. From the old fred – the fascinating pastime of balsa model making. It truly was enormous fun.
As a teen, I found a design in Scientific American for a six foot wingspan model sailplane.
Huge project. The trick with the thing was a slow fuse attached to the rubber band that held the tail plane in place. The band would melt, tailplane would come free and the sailplane would spin to earth landing on its reinforced nose. I was so proud of having finished the project.
Lots of time on the bike tracking the thing as it flew free, until the day that the fuse didn’t work. Bluddy thing is still flying as far as I know.
The exercise generated yet another sympathetic commentary from my Father highlighting yet again how useless I was. At least the old …. got that bit right.

  50. OldOzzie

I originally signed up to Australian My Health Record – Your health information securely in one place.

I gave up in the end as it turned out to be totally useless,- the only way to have a record of your health, is to get a copy of all medical tests – X-rays, MRI, Cat Scan, Pet Scans, Radiotherapy, Blood tests, Outpatient Post Op Reports, etc.

This was brought to mind by the Tablet Article above – Hydroxychloroquine: A Morality Tale

Richard Horton, editor of the Lancet, did not pull his punches, and it was he who called it a “monumental fraud.” By focusing on the fraud perpetrated against the Lancet, he deftly deflected attention away from the monumental inadequacy of the peer review process at the esteemed journal. Consider that multi-talented crew from Surgisphere claimed that they had somehow gathered data on 96,000 patients from 1,200 hospitals throughout the world, and would have been expected to check all 96,000 records, and analyzed all that data, and done all of this almost overnight. Could anything have been more implausible? Have you ever tried to get your own medical record from your own local hospital in a jiffy?

And, if you are a physician, have you ever tried to get medical record systems, from different hospitals, in the same city, to talk to each other easily?

Same applies here in Oz – at last Cancer session, patient nearby was asked re his blood test, and told as not done at Hospital Path Group, they were unable to access, and could he bring copy along next time – same MRI in Private, unable to be accessed by Public Hospital in same complex – hence why I always get Discs of MRI, Cat Scan etc and have 20 years of blood test results.

KAMALA HARRIS: AMERICA’S LEAST SINCERE PERSON

Kamala Harris is devoted to the political advancement of Kamala Harris. (Just ask Willie Brown.) Beyond that, she has no apparent principles, although she is happy to adopt extreme leftism as the guise of the moment. During the primary season, she attacked Joe Biden quite effectively, claiming to believe the women who accused him of sexual harassment, and so on.

But, like the rest of Harris’s life, it was all a pose. That is how she explained it to Stephen Colbert, who naively assumed that Harris might have meant at least some of what she said about Biden:

It was a debate! She was just trying to become president! Who could possibly take such nonsense seriously? Ha Ha Ha! That was then, this is now.

Are Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the most cynical, amoral, self-interested, pocket-lining duo ever placed on a national ticket? Yes. Yes, I think they are.

I do that too. I totally concur. My Big Sis is fond of her caravan. She has never what Hairy rudely calls ‘left the mat’ of our upbringing, in spite of having had a successful medical career and not being short of a penny. I say to her I cannot imagine anything worse than a caravan holiday when so many nice hotels and resorts are available for a pleasant night or two each few hundred kms of driving. In cost terms as well it’s a no brainer. You have a better time all round not having to cramp up in a van and bother with all of the setting up stuff. The constant change of bedroom scenery is nice too and resorts are often in places chosen for the views, whereas caravan parks are not. These are my reasons, notwithstanding that I have had excellent stays during my long life in some caravan situations.. Hairy’s reasons are he wouldn’t be seen dead in a caravan or a caravan park, end of story.

RELIANCE ON WIND AND SOLAR WILL LEAD TO BLACKOUTS

With Joe Biden and Kamala Harris firmly committed to a radical version of the Green New Deal, it is a good time to ask: what would happen if we actually tried to rely on wind and solar for electricity generation? South Australia gave us a preview of the answer in 2016 when its lights went out due to reliance on wind energy.

Paying for an epidemic of stupidity

From The Australian. Looks like the paywall is down for this.

OldOzzie put the whole article up here for us. Thanks OldOzzie.

Speaking of accomodation and travel digs.
Narrow boats are narrow so as to fit down canals.
Caravans and motorhomes are small so they can fit down roads.
But WTF is going on with this “tiny house” obsession?
Why shoehorn everything into a shoe-box when you don’t have to?
One of the top rural holiday spots being touted in the Oz today was one of these “tiny house” places.
Christ, people get sick of tripping over their suitcases in tiny rooms in hotels overseas.
Why would you bother doing that in rural ‘Straya?

I assume it is just car-bin footprint virtue signalling?

Also, is there anything that I’ve said about him that is not true or not in the public domain? Please correct my errors, if I’ve made any. I am a seeker of truth And will happily apologise if I’ve erred.

You might note that I even stand up for him yesterday, and corrected what I thought to be incorrect aspersions about his service.

As for hiding things, I think we all know what you were trying to hide.

  84. Bruce of Newcastle

Second after Dettol Donny, obviously, who is first.

Astonishing! For all his obsession with the US, the bin chicken has never heard of Shrillary!

Yep, I couldn’t say Joe was first because Hillary has a wrap on it.
Numbers forgets that Mueller when through everything Trumpety Trump and found nothing.

    Dead man stalking?
    The answer is no.
Doxing is the act of exposing the identity and personal details of a real person with an anonymous online persona.
Spud, in his desparate attempt to sell books and attract blog traffic, goes to no great lengths to hide his identity.
It is therefore not possible to “dox” someone who is happy to expose his identity.
A great writer once observed that you can’t be cruel to a dead horse.
Nor can you dox a dead man.

Donald Trump Accepts Raucous Endorsement from New York City Police Union

The New York City Police Benevolent Association endorsed President Donald Trump on Friday – a union representing 24,000 police officers in the city.

Trump welcomed a group of enthusiastic New York City officers to his club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for an event to announce the endorsement.

The police union president, Patrick Lynch, gave a passionate speech thanking the president for standing up for law enforcement at a time when many were afraid to do so. Lynch said:

I cannot remember when we’ve ever endorsed for the president of the United States until now. That’s how important this is. …. Mr. President, we’re fighting for our lives out there we don’t want this to spread to the country, we need your strong voice across the country.

Trump delivered a speech warning of the dangers they were facing if former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris won the presidential election.

“As we gather today, our country is suffering from a radical far-left movement,” Trump said, noting that Democrats wanted to “defame, demoralize, defund, dismantle, and dissolve our great police departments.”

The left-wing mobs, he said, were running around vandalizing churches like St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City and painting messages such as “Cops must die” and “Kill all cops” in the city.

He also recalled stories of police officers getting run down by a car, hit with Molotov cocktails, and even beaten in the streets during a summer of protests and riots.

“It’s a left-wing war on cops,” Trump said.

Trump criticized New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for failing to back police officers while they were under siege from the left, saying the mayor was afraid of the mob.

“Joe Biden’s national police strategy will be modeled on the Bill de Blasio catastrophe,” Trump said.

Interesting stats on violence and the difference between white and black in the US. Unfortunately something similar here with aborigines in Australia:

    • Black males age 18-35 years of age are only 1.8% of the U.S. population, yet have committed 52% of homicides from 1980-2008. Black males (all ages) are only 6% of the U.S. population, yet commit 46% of all violent crimes, and 50% of the gun homicides. If Blacks were removed from the equation, the U.S. gun homicide rate would be equal to Great Britain’s, who have some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the world.
    • The Black homicide rate is 17 per 100,000, a rate over 9x that of the White rate, and comparable to some of those most murderous countries in the world. If the homicide rate for the U.S. were the White-only rate, the homicide rate would drop 84%, making the U.S. rate comparable to European countries.
    • According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics 2018 survey of criminal victimization, there were 593,598 interracial violent victimizations (excluding homicide) between Blacks and Whites last year, including White-on-Black and Black-on-White attacks. Blacks committed 537,204 of those interracial felonies, or 90 percent, and Whites committed 56,394 of them, or less than 10 percent.
    • Blacks constitute 13% of the U.S. population, but represent 27% of all criminal activity in the U.S.
    • According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting for 2018, of the homicide victims for whom race was known, 53.3% were Black, 43.8% were White and 2.8% were of other races. In cases where the race of the offender was known, 54.9% were Black, 42.4% were White, and 2.7% were of other races.
    • Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving Blacks and Whites, Blacks commit 85 percent and Whites commit 15 percent. This means that a Black is 27 times more likely to attack a White person than vice versa.
    • The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is Black.

Did Every Village Elect Its Idiots to City Council and the Mayor’s Office…or Just Democrats?

Because he’s an idiot. The mob rewarded Wheeler for his “good puppy” behavior by screaming at him. Because they’re so tolerant and loving. Offstage whisper: They’re Marxists. They follow the ideology with the largest body count in human history.

Not to be outdone, Mayor Jenny Durkan is a grade-A idiot. That mayor let rioters take over several downtown blocks, and even after violence had erupted in the CHOP, declared her hope that it would become a hippy-dippy “summer of love.” Where do cities find idiots like this?

But one suspects that Flannigan knows all this. He just doesn’t care. He’s also calling for the abolition of the Austin police’s mounted unit. After the city council banned the use of several non-lethal methods of controlling unruly crowds, APD has successfully used its mounted officers to break up crowds and prevent violence. That’s exactly what APD did last week when antifa was threatening to destroy police headquarters and do unto Austin when they did unto Seattle.

But Flannigan wants them gone. He doesn’t see them as “useful.”

Because Austin, like so many large cities across America, has elected its idiots to all of its positions of power.

And I haven’t even mentioned New York’s Mayor de Blasio yet. With murder spiking in direct response to his decision to disband the NYPD anti-crime unit, de Blasio has chosen both to defund police by about $1 billion and at the same time, stretch the police thinner by setting up COVID checkpoints to keep the virus his city spread to the rest of America from coming back to the city he mis-leads.

Is failing an intelligence test now required before one can run for office in most of our major cities? Do they all live in bubbles like the French kings once did in Versailles? Does anyone on any city council in any major city even understand any part of the previous sentence, and how that worked out?

Anyone know if JC has ever managed to back up his mouth with some links?

    Sure:

Here’s an example of the Driller blowharding the site:

The Driller talking about Barnaby Joyce and how he fears the Driller

He knows who I am though (or used to) as he rather spectacularly dropped me in it a few years ago, and was rather shocked when someone pointed out to him just how connected was the “bush publican” he’d treated with such disdain.

Seems to be able to link to everything, including toilet useage in ghettos, but never to anything to back up his own mouth.

Pretty much every comment posted b y the imbecile fits into one of those categories. I’d have to link the entire site for 15 years, which is an impossible task. Whoops, I left out stoush trolling.

There is a reason for that: He’s an amoral lying sack of shit.

Oh yes amoral. The driller is fond of plagiarizing comments posted about him and then using the same comments against people who dislike him. I guess it’s flattering in a way. Dishonestly flattering. 🙂

Anyone know if the lying sack of shit has ever posted something that is verifiable? 😂

What we do know is that the Driller posts racially tinged comments here but won’t allow them to be copied and pasted on his own useless unread site.

(This is what comes of having been raised in a household without manners & never having lived or worked among men – who will clean up your manner real fast, even if your parents never did)

Oh yes. Driller once said he wanted to turn his useless truck stop into a whorehouse but was prevented to by the state. And he talks about ethics and good manners. What an inbred. Lowrent breeding.

I’d like to post more on leftard teachers. This incident happened in 2008 when I was a mature-age student doing night classes.

I was doing a class presentation on Political Satire in a group of three with included another lady and a retired lefty teacher. How did I know he was a lefty? Because he wouldn’t shut up about it. Yep, all while we were planning the presentation we had to put up with his crap.

Anyhoo, night of the actual class presentation came. While the retired lefty teacher was speaking his part of the presentation, this is what he declared: There isn’t much room in the media for anyone trying to break into the area of Political Satire.
!!! Yep – the freakin’ gall of it. So why did he choose to do the topic then? To tell us all we can’t do it?

And, big mistake to let him be in charge of the notes. He deleted all my conservative notes*. Other stuff was put in small fonts. Of course, the bulk of the notes contained his words of puke.

After the presentation, the other lady ripped shreds off him. I didn’t, I was too gutless.

*fyi my notes contained talking points such as:
~Political Satire is a kind of debunking technique.
~One of the challenges of writing Political Satire was that the real political targets/decision makers are hiding.
So you can see, my notes were not deleted because they were dumb.

Democrats finally get their cherished dream – No more guns or ammunition in America

Larry C. Johnson: There Is an Unprecedented Gun and Ammo Shortage in America Today

There is a quiet revolution underway across the United States that signals how the average American is reacting to the Democrat campaign of supporting rioting and chaos in major cities. American citizens are arming themselves to the teeth and this includes many who previously supported gun control measures.
    …..
The mainstream media and the Democrats can bury their heads in the sand and pretend that the rioting and looting are isolated phenomena and do not affect the average American. WRONG. People are paying attention and what they see is frightening many to take the first step in protecting themselves. They are buying up guns.

If Democrats genuinely believe that there is a mood in America to take away guns or limit sales of AR-15s and other long guns wrongly perceived as “assault rifles”, they are in for a rude awakening come November. The new gun buys, who have shelled out at least $1000 to buy themselves some peace of mind are not going to willingly surrender what they see as an essential tool for protecting themselves and their families.

At last, some accountability for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s outrageous intervention in the 2016 presidential campaign. On Friday U.S. Attorney John Durham charged former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith with doctoring an email to justify a surveillance warrant against former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

Mr. Durham is digging into the origins of the FBI’s 2016 Crossfire Hurricane investigation into collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Mr. Page was a minor Trump adviser. But four times in eight months the FBI told the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that there was probable cause that Mr.
One not-so-small detail: The CIA had told the FBI as early as August 2016 that Mr. Page had been an “operational contact” for the CIA from 2008 to 2013. This was highly exculpatory information, yet the FBI didn’t include it in its first three applications to surveil Mr. Page.

    Melbournians are revolting!

Melburnians have left home in droves despite stage four restrictions across the city.

Cyclists, runners and walkers were a common sight on footpaths and bike tracks across Melbourne.

While most wore mandatory masks, runners and riders were spotted with uncovered faces, despite the inability to social distance.

Many exercised shoulder-to-shoulder, mixing with other pairs on the footpath in the process.

In Brighton, sunbathers could be seen sitting on the sand at the beach, despite strict rules on exercise.

Victorians also flocked to local shopping strips and supermarkets, taking time to socialise in the warm weather.

Many in Melbourne’s west were seen attending crowded farmers’ markets on Saturday, mingling in large groups.

Images on social media show a busy Yarraville park lined with groups of people.

Some can be seen standing close together around market stalls, while others indulge in a picnic, sitting down on the grass to socialise.

The images ignited anger on Twitter from Victorians who have been following lockdown protocols, only leaving home to buy essentials or exercising for an hour, once a day.

Landscape of rubble persists as Minneapolis demands taxes in exchange for permits
In St. Paul, officials have waived the tax rule so property owners can clean up.

In Minneapolis, on a desolate lot where Don Blyly’s bookstore stood before being destroyed in the May riots, two men finish their cigarettes and then walk through a dangerous landscape filled with slippery debris and sharp objects. The city won’t let Blyly haul away his wreckage without a permit, and he can’t get a contractor to tell him how much it will cost to rebuild the store until that happens.

In St. Paul, where Jim Stage’s pharmacy burned down during the same disturbances, crews have already removed the bricks and scorched timbers. A steel fence keeps out trespassers. Stage expects construction of his new Lloyd’s Pharmacy to begin later this month.

The main reason for the different recoveries is simple: Minneapolis requires owners to prepay the second half of their 2020 property taxes in order to obtain a demolition permit. St. Paul does not.

We lost no2 son nearly 20 years ago. When no 1 grandson was less than 1 yo, for about 4 weeks, he would wake up every midnight and just babble as if someone was in the room talking to him. No 1 son would call out, “No2 son, let no1 grandson get some sleep”, and grandson would say something like “bye” and go back to sleep.

Last year no 1 grandson went and grabbed no2 son’s teddy out of the cupboard (no 1 son has it as a keepsake with his old teddy) , and put in front of No 2 son’s photo and said this is Uncle xxx’s . He had never been told that it was his Uncle’s.

    Go pick bananas.

Hey shiny, just asking , but how much immigration should we have each year?

    Two things we can can.

    1. We can deport low IQ imbeciles like you to some Pacific island, or
    2. bring in enough banana pickers to lower your wages to subsistence.

    Both are decent choices.

Listening to the complaints of stressed out locked downers, I could not understand Dan’s approval rating . Some commentators saying Victorians are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome however what Dictator Dan has down to a Fine art are the psychological tactics for avoiding accountability. I am in the process of writing an article describing that Victorians are wooed with weasel words straight from the manual.
When and if Parliament sits again how will he be able to not mislead Parliament when asked about ADF help?

JC, on the subject of country publican stories posted here, it seems there is a common thread.
Someone was here yesterday (not Sal) making noise about their local publican being done over during Kung Flu … by Colesworth, coppers visiting him too much, having to sit people down to eat.
I couldn’t figure out how exactly a restriction had been put on his business, and it wasn’t stated.
Sal has also complained about Colesworth and also the local licensed club which he perceives has an unfair advantage.
    What is the common thread?
    Discomfort with competition.

Min, it all starts with the media.

Today a sycophant ”journalist” asked Dan the Man – who gave himself a $41,000 pay increase in July – if he’d taken a break during this virus situation and was he okay, looking after himself.

    Talk about vomit.

Some good reports on Seven and Nine commemorating VJ Day after 75 years.
My regards to Macbeth on this day!

    min,
The media are as weak as piss. All they do is repeat Labor’s propaganda. Zero investigation unless it is forced under their leftard noses and even then, it’s reported through rosy glasses lionising the Great Leader Dan Xi-man. The Communist Prpaganda media at it’s finest. Lowfo Vics lap it up while the Fed’s shove our money in Vic pockets. It’s like a narcotic.

Twin sisters who married twin brothers in a dual wedding and live together are both pregnant.

Here’s a puzzle for Cats who are interested. (I know the answer already and this same scenario’s question was asked once over dinner at Oxbridge somewhere to a philosopher and a scientist who gave different answers – and it’s a yes/no question – the philosopher got it right and the scientist didn’t.)

    Okay, here goes.

    Will their offspring be identical?
