And the idiot Liberals are among the first to agree that there must be more civility in politics.

It’s not just the Libs. LNP voters in general are precious wets who get all nervous and wet their pants when one of their ilk tells it as it is. Look at the grief Dutton cops just for stating the obvious. The Australian Right are a bunch of pearl clutching losers.

It’s time to derail the Pride train

The LGBT community is now the LGBTQQIP2SAA movement. It’s getting ridiculous.

Six or seven years ago I wrote a stand-up comedy routine about the ever-expanding initialism that went from LGB to LGBT to LGBTQI, and so on. The routine centred on the concept of what might happen should the string of letters continue to grow until the entire alphabet was featured. By the end of 2016 the joke had dated, not because identity politics was no longer topical – far from it – but because the ‘community’ in question had already taken the joke further than I had envisaged, even to the point of duplicating letters and adding numbers for good measure.

The rainbow flag for Pride has been through a similarly bewildering metamorphosis. It was designed in the late 1970s to supersede the pink triangle, which had been appropriated from Nazi concentration camps as a gesture of empowerment and defiance. The new rainbow symbol was a conscious attempt to distance itself from such dark connotations and express a more joyful and optimistic outlook.

I don’t want my daughter to be conscripted in the next war, and I don’t like how our capabilities are being run down by this politically correct complete bullshit while decent blokes get overlooked for something some of them have an innate drive and desire to do.

I second that, Arky. Dunno if you’re angry, but it would be the right thing.

The Two Women at the Top of the Supreme Court List

President Trump has announced that he will pick a woman for the Supreme Court seat vacated by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. But which one?

The New York Times reports that in a phone call with Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, Trump is said to have mentioned two female appellate court judges — Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa — as being on his short list. What do we know about them?

Barrett has been initially viewed as the early favorite. Jonathan Swan of Axios reported in 2019 that Trump had said of Barrett: “I’m saving her for Ginsburg.” Axios said he used that exact line with several people, including an adviser two days before revealing Kavanaugh’s nomination …………………

But another Trump appointee who has gone through an appeals-court confirmation battle has suddenly landed on the short list. Judge Barbara Lagoa, of Florida, who is 52 years old, has served on the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals since last December. While Barrett attracted considerable opposition and was confirmed by a 54 to 42 vote, Lagoa sailed though on a mostly bipartisan vote of 80 to 15.

Lagoa is the daughter of Cuban parents who fled Castro’s dictatorship and moved to Miami. She has said that her father had to give up his “dream of becoming a lawyer” because of Castro.

UK to Penalise Schools Which Don’t Teach Children LGBT Lessons

Secondary schools which fail to teach pupils LGBT lessons will be penalised by inspectors, it has been revealed.

Ofsted, the British schools regulator, said that schools will no longer be able to secure a rating better than “requires improvement” if they neglect to inform pupils about LGBT lifestyles and about “all the protected characteristics”, the Daily Mail reports.

An Ofsted spokesman commented: “The Department for Education’s guidance makes it clear that secondary schools must teach about LGBT issues.

Therefore, from next summer, if secondary schools do not teach about all the protected characteristics, they will receive a judgment of ‘requires improvement’ for leadership and management.

“However, government guidance is that primary schools have more discretion over when LGBT issues are age appropriate, and so won’t necessarily be marked down if they exclude them,” they added.

Saving planet Earth: Sir David Attenborough praises Jacinda Ardern’s policies

Sir David Attenborough has singled out Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s policies as instrumental in the fight for the planet’s survival.

In a piece for the Daily Mail, the British broadcaster and natural historian listed the things humankind needs to do to save the planet – and sang Ardern’s praises.

He continued: “In 2019, New Zealand made the bold step of formally dropping GDP as its primary measure of economic success and created its own index based upon its most pressing national concerns.

“In this single act, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern shifted the priorities of her whole country away from pure growth and towards something that better reflects the aspirations many of us have.”

Stan Grant has joined ABC NEWS in a new multiplatform role as International Affairs Analyst.

Grant will provide stories and analysis for ABC Online, 7.30, Four Corners, audio current affairs and TV news. This will include contributing to a new regular China segment on The World each Thursday night, produced by the News Channel and the Asia Pacific Newsroom team.

“The world is at a critical period,” Grant said. “Coronavirus has laid waste to our economies and revealed our fragility at the same time as democracy is in retreat and a more authoritarian China is reshaping global power.

“I’m really looking forward to drawing on my three decades as a reporter covering the big conflicts and stories of our time and joining the dots of that for Australians.”

Director, News Gaven Morris said the story of China and its complex relationships around the world, including with Australia, was one of the most important of our time.

“Covering the China story is a priority, and we’re actively examining a range of options for how ABC NEWS will continue to provide Australians with the most complete and authoritative reporting and analysis,” he said.

“Stan Grant is one of Australia’s most knowledgeable and respected journalists, with extensive direct China experience, and it’s terrific to have him as part of the ABC NEWS team.”

This is off topic. I just want to say that we NEVER used masks in Norway. Not in stores, not on public transports, nowhere. If you wanted, you could of course. But very few did. And things are going just fine, 267 dead with a mean age of 82. Not that that is a good thing, but the life expectancy in Norway is…yes you guessed it. 82! So people are actually dying with covid, not from it. Except from some few cases of course, which the media is especially keen on dragging onto the front page for scare mongering. The last flare ups have been because some venues, and very localized. So if you take off those 3 or so flare ups, which is now under control, the graph would be as flatlined as my long dead grandmother, rest her soul. I pity you guys from Australia and other countries where they stripped you of your basic human rights. Its a criminal act, and I hope the responsible for it will pay.

AP sources: Woman accused of sending ricin letter arrested

The letter had been intercepted earlier this week before it reached the White House. The woman was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Peace Bridge border crossing near Buffalo and is expected to face federal charges, the officials said. Her name was not immediately released.

There have been several prior instances in which U.S. officials have been targeted with ricin sent through the mail.

A Navy veteran was arrested in 2018 and confessed to sending envelopes to Trump and members of his administration that contained the substance from which ricin is derived. The letters were intercepted, and no one was hurt.

In 2014, a Mississippi man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after sending letters dusted with ricin to President Barack Obama and other officials.

I’m going to assume you’re comparing the dictator, Richard II, to the current Victorian one, Daniel Andrews, and that the message is that an anointed king can be removed/deposed if he abrogates his responsibility to govern with the agreement of the governed.

So it’s over to the Labor backbench; who will end up playing the part of Henry Bollingbroke? Personally, I don’t care because they’re all for the rubbish tip I would think. But to be begin that process, Andrews has to go.

Carpenters wow public with medieval techniques at Notre Dame

PARIS (AP) — With precision and boundless energy, a team of carpenters used medieval techniques to raise up — by hand — a three-ton oak truss Saturday in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, a replica of the wooden structures that were consumed in the landmark’s devastating April 2019 fire that also toppled its spire.

The demonstration to mark European Heritage Days gave the hundreds of people a first-hand look at the rustic methods used 800 years ago to build the triangular frames in the nave of Notre Dame de Paris.

It also showed that the decision to replicate the cathedral in its original form was the right one, said Gen. Jean-Louis Georgelin, who heads the cathedral’s reconstruction.

Down in Dannistan, we’ve got weird messages all over the place: ‘I stand with Dan’ etc etc and Odes to Dan in the local papers.

There’s going to be a lot of shy ‘let’s get rid of Dan’ voters to come out into the light and one thing that will help them along is when the Jobkeeper and JobSeeker money is removed.

Luckily for the PM, he’s only got a few seats down there, so even if the worm turns, it’s really no loss. Besides, doesn’t isn’t the federal election before the Victorian one? So that may even help him.

When you are polling there are a bunch of decisions to make about who, where, what and how to sample.
What’s the motivation? Whatever whoever is paying for the poll wants.
There is no “right” answer or outcome to check your “Is Dan doing a fantastic job working around the clock keeping everyone safe” type question.
They ain’t ever gonna get called out or proved wrong on that.
With the US election polling the buggers suppress the vote by having an 8 point gap in their favour going in, a gap that magically narrows in the days before so they can subsequently tout how accurate they are.
With this type of shit they don’t even have to do that.

Riddle me this, thrill seekers. Why is it that one of the more depressing phrases you can hear from your doctor is

“Well, after all, at your time of life…”

There is a joke about the old bloke complaining about his left knee bothering him and the doc pointing out his age.
Whereupon the old bloke replied, ” my ruddy right knee is the same age”.

Take each day as it comes. Trite I know but there is nothing better any of us can do.

So now parking police can do the lockup thing as well – as well as teachers, the bloke driving the garbotruck, and footy referees.

Not only noticed but saved the lot for future reference.
    It’s frightening.
Once out of here I will see if we return permanently.

This will change a lot of things. And the free money stuff may not be able to counteract the disquiet and genuine fear that will course through the Victorian electorate if this law remains on the books for the next two years. While recourse to this law may start off slow, like so many other laws, once the accelerator takes over it will get away from the politicians.

Up until this point, all those freedom seekers down in Melbourne have been portrayed as anti-vaccers etc, but once every low level public servant arsehole starts to use the power of the state against ordinary citizens, no-one will be immune. Perhaps, then, Victorians will ditch their majority support for left wing politics.
If Victorians can survive this sh1t, it may well turn the state entirely against the left.

One more thing: I think it’s a disgrace that, as far as I’m aware, not one Victorian member of the federal parliament, let alone the PM and the Attorney General, have said anything in support of the people over the Victorian dictator.

Take the famous 97% of scientists believe whatever about global warming study.
Were the people doing that study lying?
    Well, probably yes.
But they probably didn’t think they were.
The logic goes like this: You don’t believe any real scientist would dispute the “consensus” about global warming, therefore if you want to conduct a survey about global warming you should poll the ones who believe in it.
    Makes perfect sense.
From that point of view, they were being very generous including 3% as disagreeing.

Someone at stitch n’ bitch was having a minor Trump Derangement seizure yesterday.

Call me a coward, but I escaped off home before my big mouth kicked into gear. Apparently Trump is responsible for Red Line districts or something. Which is strange because some black dude had the job for eight years but didn’t do anything about it.

Yesterday was out and about. Lovely weather, people picnicking at the park at 9.30am.

Fences around the skate park had been moved and lots of kids on boards and scooters were taking advantage.

The relaxation of the rules allows a lot more movement and a lot more interaction, but not for poor old covid safe small businesses who must continue to suffer because profit is bad.

Of course walking around in fresh air and sunshine is highly unlikely to spread the virus, one man demanded I stop so he could check my mask, a loud guffaw ensued . Well you’ve got to have some entertainment.

We are living in the theatre of the absurd.

Shout out to the discussion last night, or part thereof.

It’s about time some comparisons were drawn between the current state of affairs in Victoria and the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 over tyrannical governments taxing the bejesus out of the plebs to pay for foreign wars.

Of course, the peasants’ leader Wat Tyler was killed, the rebellion crushed, 1500 executions were carried out and Richard II not only backflipped on acceding to the rebels’ demands but stayed in the big chair for another 18 years.

Tyler has his chance to kill the King at Smithfield, but blew it. Twitter would have been a gamechanger.

    The USA is not “democracy”*.
    *Trump’s “democracy” – 2016
    56.9% turnout
    46.1% Trump
    48.2% Clinton
That turnout means that 43.1% of voters had no say in the outcome, and of the 56.9% who did, the majority (48.2%) didn’t vote for Trump.
Or put another way, 91.3% (48.2% + 43.1%) didn’t vote for the incumbent.
