Was reading Powerline blog when this popped up. This is how to fight back. Brilliant.

Taking a cue from Bartleby, the Scrivener, the Department of Justice would prefer not to send witnesses to testify before the House Judiciary Committee run by Jerrold Nadler and his fellow Democrats. Responding to a request from Nadler for testimony from Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, Bureau of Prisons Director Michael Carvajal, and U.S. Marshals Service Director Donald Washington, Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd tactfully recalled the treatment of Attorney General Barr by the committee Democrats. John wrote about the hearing in “The Democrats embarrass themselves again.” Recalling the treatment the Democrats accorded Barr at that hearing, Boyd declines Nadler’s request.

Here is a salient paragraph of Boyd’s letter to Nadler:

As the Supreme Court recently reiterated, the purpose of a hearing by the House is to obtain the information necessary to legislate “wisely and effectively,” and the questioning is required to serve a legitimate legislative purpose. See Trump v. Mazars USA, LLP, 140 S. Ct.2019 (2020). Yet the House’s so-called oversight “hearing” of the Attorney General did preciously little to advance any legitimate interest since the Attorney General was repeatedly denied the opportunity to provide information to the Committee. We very much regret that the Committee did not elect to engage in a meaningful, good-faith effort to obtain information and views from the Attorney General while he was present and prepared to testify. Having squandered its opportunity to conduct a meaningful oversight hearing with the Attorney General, it remains unclear how further public spectacles with other Department officials would now—a mere 14 legislative days since the Attorney General’s hearing—advance the Committee’s legitimate oversight efforts.

Looking for something to watch, then if you haven’t already seen it the series, “The Terror,” is still showing on Amazon Prime. Pretty entertaining and based on the fascinating Captain Sir John Franklin expedition of 1845 to find and chart the North-West passage.

    Side note:

The HMS Resolute went in search of the Franklin expedition and got stuck in the ice herself, after which she was abandoned by her crew. She was found by an American whaler and the United States returned her to the British as a goodwill gesture. Queen Victoria had a desk made from the ships timbers and gave it to President Hayes of the United States in 1880. The Resolute Desk remains in the Oval Office to this day.

Our governments have violated a basic decency: That any imposition on the population should be the bare minimum required to achieve the stated ends.
While the population is prevented from travelling interstate, leaving the country without permission and in some places subject to completely arbitrary travel limits and curfew, our governments are in error.
It is every citizen’s responsibility to oppose these errors, within the law.
Once these restrictions have been lifted, the ease with which our governments acted in this reprehensible manner must not be forgotten, and it must be a priority to change the constitution in order to limit and strictly define the powers of state and federal governments.
    This must never happen again.

  28. That’s an uphill battle, if you’re fighting the uniparty, Wallace. Who would sponsor a change to the referendum? Victoria is worse as the government changes the constitution itself, I believe.

I’m almost finished Hilary Mantel’s Bring up the Bodies. Henry’s lawyers are discussing how to bring about his determination to have his marriage to Anne Boleyn annulled prior to her execution. The one piece of evidence that assists his cause is his affair with her sister, Mary. This is the same basis on which the illegitimacy of his marriage to his first wife, Katherine of Aragon was argued. However, the lawyers know that he suffers an impediment from this strategy, i.e. he knew that Anne was Mary’s sister so should never have married her. Finally they decide not to publicly release the reason, just the decision.

In the lawyers’ discussions, Mantel has The Lord Chancellor say the following:
‘The truth is so rare and precious that sometimes it must be kept under lock and key.’

Clearly, Dictator Dan has taken advice from the advisors of another dictator re the decision to go into full lockdown – we’re not telling.

While our media is not quite as bad as the USA MSM, it’s still noticeable that they print Keating’s attack on the Reserve Bank but want Tony Abbott to just disappear entirely.

  34. Knuckle Dragger

This is from the Hun, as it stands this morning:

‘In a tense meeting, a large group of goodwilled locals were turned away from the search, after being told they were not needed and should return home.

‘One man said the decision was “bullshit” and that more volunteers would help find William sooner. Police warned locals the search area was very treacherous and the wet weather would make things worse. They were told the best thing to do was share information about his disappearance on social media.’

Admittedly from the other end of the continent, but there are two aspects to this. When conducting searches in tough country, loads upon trailer loads of people can have the possibility of doing more harm than good. They can and have become lost as well, they don’t tell others where they’ve searched and parts of the search area are either covered multiple times or not at all.

But – hang on, wait – BUT – this usually happens with big groups of well-meaning people who don’t know the area. I could understand this view if busloads of people from Ouyen or Wycheproof had turned up in the rain, but these volunteers were locals who knew the patch. You don’t throw away this sort of resource.

    The we have:

‘Asked why volunteers were turned away, Insp Goddard said: “We are professionals at dealing with searches. This is not an uncommon occurrence for us to search for people. And in this area here we do often have people go missing. We are comfortable with the resourcing that we do have in place at the moment.”

The jacks are not trained in how to search for people, because anyone can do it. SOME jacks ARE trained in the co-ordination and control functions of how to do it effectively. Nobody ever said ‘we have too many resources’ during a search for a child. Nobody, with the apparent exception of Inspector Goddard.

The boy was eventually found by a member of a local boxing club. Despite this, Stefanovic the Younger just told me the jacks found him. More Inspector Goddard commentary:

“This is not to do with COVID. We don’t want to bring this into a COVID conversation. What we are doing is focusing our search on Will.”

Catching up from yesterday, but apparently the request to not turn up and try to find a missing autistic lad because Dan Plague was put out on the jacks’ social meeja pages. Which means some 20-something airheaded media chicky thought of it, which also means Goddard’s thoughts on it were either a genuine attempt at damage control or a straight out deflection – of which neither are acceptable.

    Here you go Numbers.

Protests led to spike in coronavirus infection – report (JPost, 23 Sep)

Tens of thousands of Israelis have been turning out to protest against government corruption and the country’s mishandling of the pandemic for the past several months. Barbash said on Channel 12 that not enough data has yet been collected on how Israel’s infection rate is manifested by the protests.

“With 6,700(!) infected in a day, the time has come to say enough demagoguery!” tweeted Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevich (Blue and White). “Protesters, just like worshipers, are not immune to infection. The same health rules must apply to everybody.”

The protests have been leftist activists who hate Netanyahu as much as the Left hates Trump. The “corruption” charges are bogus, as I’ve demonstrated several times. But the Israeli bureaucracy is just as captured by the Gramscians as the US deep state is, so they’ve been throwing fake stuff at Netanyahu just as much as their US counterparts have been doing to Trump.

And now we see the left-wing protests are spreading the virus, something the MSM has been refusing to report.

  41. Knuckle Dragger

Upon further reflection, here are some further rooolly big indicators that Inspector Goddard (no, I don’t know him/her/they) quite likes being the brass, has probably done the ‘knife and fork’ promotional course for commissioned officers in Manly, is a veteran of thousands of focus groups and steering committees but has never actually taken responsibility for anything:

    ‘We are professionals at’
    ‘We are comfortable with’
    ‘We don’t want to’
    ‘What we are doing is’

No, no, no, Inspector Goddard. No. In the contemporary corporate vernacular, I will challenge that and use it as an example of the appalling shit that passes for leadership in your line of work today.

You are (according to the paper) an Inspector of Police. This is YOUR patch, and this is YOUR job and YOU are responsible. In this instance you are NOT speaking for the broader VicJack Inc industry.

In this specific job, there is no ‘we’. It’s just you, and your decisions. Anything else is deflection, and transparent deflection at that*. Stand or fall (fnarr) on the decisions YOU make by virtue of your rank. And if you can’t or won’t do that because you’re uncomfortable doing it, fuck off out of the way and take your corporate communication seminar syndicate work exercise book, complete with pack of different coloured highlighters with you.

I just had a look at the Yahoo story about William Wall.

Just in the first bit there are gems like:

A group of about 50 locals gathered at the Warburton police station, east of Melbourne, on Wednesday morning were told by police to go home and instead help officers by spreading word on social media.

Spreading word on social media? Telling other people who will also not be able to help search. Is this an admission that lots of talk is considered equal to effective action?

Victoria Police told Yahoo News Australia they turned away the help because they have plenty of resources. It was also reported that the wet weather was making conditions dangerous.

Police are prowling the streets in packs looking for killers like pregnant women catching their breath on park benches, or sociopaths lowering their masks to sip coffee. That is where their resources are.

And where did this idea that police are superhuman come from? You really think the locals would have no idea about not only walking in the bush, but that bush. Don’t police usually seek help from volunteers even when it might rain a bit?

I really get the feeling that they were not that concerned about the kid, that they had already given up on him.

Desperate boatpeople take chances across channel

    FARIHA KARIM

A record number of asylum-seekers were expected to reach Britain by Wednesday after crossing the English Channel in what many saw as the “last opportunity” to make the treacherous journey before wintry weather set in.

As many as 500 headed for Dover marina, where arrivals were forced to queue to be allowed onshore due to the volume of traffic. Lifeboats were sent out to collect people after Border Force vessels became full.

At least 27 boats carrying people including young children and a double amputee had arrived at the marina by Tuesday morning. September has been a record month for migrant crossings, with at least 1487 travelling across the world’s busiest shipping route.

On September 2, a record 416 people arrived in 28 boats. Observers believe that Tuesday’s total would surpass that figure. Conditions in the channel were favourable, with low wind speeds.

Local MP Natalie Elphicke said: “It is unacceptable that so many boats have managed to evade the French authorities once again.

“We need the French to stop the boats leaving in the first place, return boats found anywhere in the English Channel back to France instead of bringing them into Britain, and swiftly return people who come into our country through these illegal routes.”

Retired coastguard officer Andy Roberts said: “It’s been very busy because the weather has been perfect for crossing.

“They look at the forecast and off they go when they see it’s nice and there’s very little wind. But the forecast is pretty awful for the next few days so we’ll probably have a quiet patch and wait for the next calm day or two. You can tell most people coming over are completely inadequately clothed. With the weather getting worse and the nights getting longer, ferries can’t see them or pick them up on radar so it’s only a matter of time before something goes horribly wrong.”

People wearing face masks were seen lining up along the side of the Border Force cutter Seeker, one of five vessels that were part of an increased Border Force presence in the channel.

It is understood that two large rigid inflatable boats, each with 30 people on board, were picked up, but most carried fewer numbers.

The arrivals came as the first asylum-seekers were taken to Folkestone, Kent, late on Monday where a former barracks is being used to house up to 400 people. About 30, most wearing blue masks, and travelling in two black Mercedes and a grey Volkswagen were rushed inside the barracks.

More than 6500 asylum-seekers have successfully travelled to Britain on small boats this year, according to Home Office figures. Last month Home Secretary Priti Patel vowed to make illegal channel crossings “inviable” by stopping small boats leaving France and “intercepting” any crossing.

She claimed that migrants were flocking to Britain because they regarded France as a “racist country” where they might be “tortured” by the authorities.

You know, I have thought Candy was a genuine commenter from the earliest times here, when she and Gab and I were the only females commenting. Her style of childish uncertainty though has changed markedly over the years, but I’ve simply thought that people do change, and accepted that, and accepted her still, as probably someone working in a nursing or similar role, expressing compassion and acting here as a bellwether for the views of ‘ordinary’ people.

Suddenly, Candy has turned tables and lost that compassion and simplicity. Now I am thinking that this is a little like the character played by Russell Crowe in ‘A Beautiful Mind’. The unreality of his trio of fantasy companions were revealed when he realised that they never changed. It suddenly struck me that in another sort of way, Candy doesn’t change either, for her ‘unreality’ is that she never answers back. She never protects herself against some fairly solid critiques. She just drifts away and comes back equally as non-reactive as before. To me, this just doesn’t seem right. People don’t do that. They inter-act. My jury on Candy has been ‘out’ for years, trying to decide, but I think the verdict now is in.

A Troll. Come in and tell me I’m wrong, Candy, in terms that I can find believable.

    Democrats didn’t like Abe Lincoln.

  174. I see the coming Trump coup attempt is being planned in detail.

We are accustomed to choosing electors by popular vote, but nothing in the Constitution says it has to be that way. Article II provides that each state shall appoint electors “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.” Since the late 19th century, every state has ceded the decision to its voters. Even so, the Supreme Court affirmed in Bush v. Gore that a state “can take back the power to appoint electors.” How and when a state might do so has not been tested for well over a century.

Trump may test this. According to sources in the Republican Party at the state and national levels, the Trump campaign is discussing contingency plans to bypass election results and appoint loyal electors in battleground states where Republicans hold the legislative majority. With a justification based on claims of rampant fraud, Trump would ask state legislators to set aside the popular vote and exercise their power to choose a slate of electors directly. The longer Trump succeeds in keeping the vote count in doubt, the more pressure legislators will feel to act before the safe-harbor deadline expires.

Republican control the statehouses in the six closest battleground states, they will cheat with little compunction if it will help Trump steal the election.

Trump supporters are the nicest people.

Bogdan Vechirko has been named as the truck driver accused of driving a tanker truck through a crowd of protesters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on the I-35W bridge. No protesters were injured.

Jail records for Hennepin County show that Vechirko is 35 years old and was taken into custody at 8:58 p.m. on May 31. His address is given as Otsego, Minnesota. Campaign finance records, which you can see later in this article, show that he has donated money to support President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee.

    They are beneath contempt.

  203. Struth

To get back to an Australia with even the limited freedoms enjoyed prior to this coup d’etat, is realistically impossible, and such a massive task that the only way it can happen is with a massive uprising of the people and the application of justice leveled upon those who have brought this shit show upon us, from the PM down.

And there is no doubt that without justice, there can be no resumption of freedoms.

All that we have said on this blog and elsewhere has come true, and continues to be proven daily. Nearly eight months into it, Australia has the worst lock downs and tyranny in the world.

    IN THE WORLD.

When it started this dumb nation pat itself on the back for closing down quickly.
We didn’t need to be locked down like Italy, because we are Australian smarty pants.
    How’d that work out?
We are of course in the southern Hemisphere.
I said, they are just waiting for winter.
    And sure enough………

The fact is the government grew to an almighty beast in Australia, and tyrannical in nature for many years, our guns long since gone, of course, it finally had to come to this.

Any simplistic study of human nature and history tells you this was the only outcome you could bet your house on.
For many years they have worked against us.
Ask yourself, would they have pulled this stunt on previous Australian generations, especially those before the gun buy back?
Knowing those generations, I can assure you, not likely.
If my grandfather or any of his mates got told to stand and watch a welcome to country, or that they had to wear bright yellow shirts and not roll their sleeves up if they felt like it, there would have been fists flying.

As, unfortunately a now middle aged white man in this country I have many a recollection of what happened to over enthusiastic government officials and the like who tried to push their actual bosses, the taxpayers, around.

I remember only too well the punishment metered out to some cocky upstarts in what was then known as the Victorian RTA as they tried to push their weight around, unlawfully and unjustly.

The truckies took their revenge, not on the entire RTA, just those pushing their weight around.

Of course, the department grew, they got worse, but they always had in the back of their mind what may happen if they pushed too far.

These, unfortunately again, were the antics going on in a very free and beautiful country to be living in.

And it was a beautiful and free country to be living in precisely because these antics were going on.
It is forever a struggle to maintain freedom.
    Always and never ending.

That’s just the way the world has always worked.

So they really stepped up the pace of brainwashing in our schools and Australians did not sufficiently monitor and stand firm against the activities of education bureaucrats like those truckies did with the RTA back in the day, and the rot started to set in.

The government started to win every little battle in the war for total control.

We have leftists today, who’s religion is government.
Most of the population has seemingly swapped Christianity for “the church of Government” and yet claim themselves to be non religious.
We see them kneeling before their prophets, their cardinals of socialist governance, like dictator Dan, praying for his holy government-ness to save them from the declared enemies of his flock, be they cold Viruses or free thinkers , they are all enemies of their church, and must be eliminated.
    With divine ABC style righteousness.

Gov-Pope Sco Mo doles out the fishes and the loaves, and all swear to do “the right thing” according to his holy scriptures and dictates, even though these change daily, hourly.
Strangely though, they’ll be the first to dismiss other religions claims to authenticity as made up bullshit.

No logical thinking can take place in this scenario.
    It is Oz-Salem 2020.
To be so brainwashed as to believe government, the most incompetent of any organisation, can save you from the sniffles if you agree to let it take your freedoms and imprison you is to be too stupid to survive.
    To require religious enforced sacrifice.

And as Australians have done exactly this, the regaining of freedoms will never happen.

    That’s just a fact.
The long march, especially in education has produced generations that now demand government insulate them and save them.
They kneel in the cold pews of government praying for salvation in the form of an extension to job keeper.
They curse the leaders of the religions that oppose theirs, and jail them for no crimes.
Deliver us, Oh holy bureaucrats , they chant, from those that smite us, from those that resist your teachings and refuse to see the miracle of your “case” reductions.

They of course will receive just the reverse, their religion more Mayan than Christian, requiring routine human sacrifice and fearing the climate, and yet some think we can democratically and peacefully rise from these ruins, and demand a return to the rule of law, while dealing justice out to those who are their prophets, those have criminally destroyed the lives of millions, is all about as likely as standing in the crowd at a Mayan sacrifice and yelling at the Ah Kin and all present to stop, for they know not what they do.

We shall go like the way of the Mayans, with fear and ignorance, bloodshed and hopelessness, for that is the religion of government .
We now now need hard, tough men, like those of previous generations. Those with freedom in their hearts.
How many of them do you see around you?

“That is correct, because as you know, Mr Ihle, it was in fact DJPR that was the department that had all the contracts with security contractors.”

So, we learn that, in the middle of a public health crisis of astronomical proportions, the Health Minister was unaware of how the quarantine process was set up – not even roughly.

She prolly had lots of other important health stuff to do.
