Is this a dream? British move against the cancel culture in schools.

Jo Nova reports that British schoolchildren are going to the taught that the cancel culture is bullying.

Josh White, Daily Mail, UK

  • Teachers will tell pupils ‘cancel culture’ is not part of a ‘tolerant and free society’
  • Students will learn that people with controversial opinions should be respected
  • It comes as some mainstream speakers have been blocked from speaking at unis

In Department for Education training manuals, teachers are instructed to tell pupils that the ‘cancel culture’ which has taken root at many universities – where individuals call for a boycott of a person or company whose views they don’t agree with, in the hope they lose their job or clients – is not part of a ‘tolerant and free society’.

Never say it couldn’t happen here!

Liberty Quote – Without a taboo against deficits, deficit spending tends to become habitual. It is politically corrosive, because no constituency expects to be the one to have to sacrifice when the limits of borrowing have been reached — Arnold Kling

Liberty Quote – History is littered with examples of politicians withdrawing citizens’ rights to free expression because they did not like what they had been saying about them at a particular moment in history.

Scratch the surface of this proposal and you will find a harsh new regime which stands to damage Australia’s reputation as a democracy and might well come back to bite the politicians, academics and publishers who are supporting it today – Mark Pearson

So…somehow students were directing cancel culture toward their teachers, schools, and/or a celebrated progressive.

Possibly some subversive teen, delighting in his secret life in the shadows as he taps on his laptop and discovers opinions not even acknowledged by teachers.

Love to see the same happen here, but unfortunately Scott Morrison and most of his inherited ‘Turncoaters’ in Cabinet conspicuously lack the testicular fortitude to take on the ‘Cancel Culture’ pandemic within Old Aunty Ita’s ‘House of Ill-Repute and Presstitution’, despite having ample legal, moral and financial justification for doing so.

The A.L.P.B.C. is like an enormously fat sow gorging itself at the slops-trough – our hard-earned taxes go in prodigiously at one end of the anatomy, and we all know what emerges at the other end.

Come on Scott – broaden their experience by giving all of Aunty Ita’s Sheltered-Workshoppers, failed Leftard pollies, their relatives, their neighbours, toadies, propagandists, Q.W.E.R.T.Y.L.G.B.T.Q.I.’s, Diversity-Warriors, B.L.M.’s, gender-fluidity spielers, vegans, Greens, Chi-Coms, Wuhan Bat-Soupers and other assorted Leftard dregs, some in-depth experience of life on the arse-end of the dole queue.

You wouldn’t be cancelling their employment – you’d be liberating it, and giving genuine old-time “journalists” (remember them?) a chance to gain a foothold once again once the joint has been thoroughly sanitised and fumigated!

    You know it makes sense!

And all the lefties in all the lefty institutions will do this? Get back to me when they do.

This is the country that has police remove Christian preachers from Speaker Corner to appease the Mooslems.

I went out to breakfast and told my companions about this and as I spoke the thought occurred to wonder which particular kinds of people with controversial opinions should be respected? Could it be people whose sacred book endorses the murder of apostates and uneblievers who do not convert?

So the Brits may not be on the way to a situation where it is safe to quote from the Old Testament on Facebook or on a soapbox in the street.

As someone said – tell me when….

In related news, Richard Dawkins has been cancelled from addressing the College Historical Society after one or more people complained about his stance on Islamic faith.
Of course he is not wrong on that point, but it is kind of ironic that this is what happens as a result of the “do as thou wilt” society that Dawkins has helped foster that has in turn reduced a Christian society to an immoral one.

A comment on Jo’s site wondered whether that story is a Babylon Bee satire.
Another comment on a different tack noted that Boris was showing some spine in the Brexit exit.
    Such a loose cannon.

They overplayed their hand by going after JK Rowling.
Now there’s a backlash, and the progressive elites (ie standard centre-left progressives, not far-left lunatics), get it.

Tachers* will tell pupils ‘cancel culture’ is not part of a ‘tolerant and free society’

My first reaction upon reading that statement was exactly the same as the duk’s above.

    *Deliberate.

What about when this hits the teachers’ unions in the UK? If the behaviour of ours regarding anything resembling testing is an indication. It got to the stage where union stooges were claiming that NAPLAN tests were causing kiddies to wet their beds.

‘Announcement: Program update 2020.3.f. Don’t cancel.’
News flash. ‘Cancellation of cancel cancelled. New iteration 2020.4.a. Teachers reprogrammed. Please read manual for instructions. Word ‘cancel’ now redefined to help ensure correct operation.’

I am wondering when the same thing will happen with the push for RE. They have overplayed their hand there as well and so far it is not the elites who are getting it but the pollies who are under threat in coalmining areas and others like Mark Latham who no longer support the party.
