No worries – there is enough cash for everybody.

The RBA can always order some new keyboards – from China, of course – if they happen to wear out the Ctrl+P buttons.

  2. woolfe

Rubbish, Dan don’t give a shit. He has Zero skin in the game.

  3. Lee

For Andrews to accuse Libs of “politicking” is ironic in the extreme.
Although I am Victorian, the federal government needs to stop funding projects and any financial assistance to Victoria while Dictator Dan is in charge.

Nice, but I cannot see the tyrant regretting anything

the feds are quite understandably treading a very fine line on this.

Doing as you suggest would set a very dangerous precedent. Next time a federal ALP government gets in they can just starve all the liberal states of funds, with the ‘we didn’t do it first’ argument.

Nailed it. Leak yesterday was great too. J’ismists MIA as usual.

Yep. The Federation is pretty well f*cked without too many parties actively trying to sabotage it.

  9. H B Bear

Other than Sneakers McGowan and Pony Girl of course.

The High Court regards it as a core function.

does anyone seriously thinks the Feds want to give up the power to tax which the states handed over? There is no reason to think Frydenberg is anything but a Canberra-centrist. And the States for the most part are in on it too. What with GST, regressive state taxes and what they squeeze out of the Feds they are doing just fine. The Feds have been bailing out/subsidizing underperforming states for years. So barring a sea-change in the taxation system nothing will change. Dan knows he’ll get the money.

I was somewhat shocked by the contempt dripping from Dan’s voice when he described Frydenberg and “just a Liberal”. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a tone of such hatred.

  14. The Sheriff

Socialists like Dictator Dan are the most spiteful, hateful, miserable forms of life one can ever encounter.

It must have been workshopped by his (tax-payer funded) spin doctors. His office has a small army of them, after all.

  16. Rob

Every Coalition MP’s first talking point should be – Victoria is being saved by the Morrison Government.
The second talking point should be – Dan Andrews is tearing Australia down.

  17. Archivist

The state of Victoria is playing the role of a welfare rorter. They heard about Jobkeeper, so they decided to have a six month holiday, while continuing to get paychecks.

The rest of Australia is footing the bill for Victoria’s lockdown policy.

  18. Macspee

Just heard on the rumor mill (hairdresser) that the Chairman will take private jet to the grand final and that he moved his family to Queensland in July. Is that (a) true, (b) wishful thinking, or (c) is the face we see each day a double (since he has fled the country).

  19. duncanm

third talking point – every tax-paying Australian is funding Vic to the tune of $$/month

  20. Pyrmonter

    @ Rob, @ Doomlord

That is, of course, not a cheque written by ‘Josh’. It is drawn on Australian taxpayers, and, to the extent this is funded by inflation, Australian Dollar denominated asset holders.

Hate is all Labor and the left (here and overseas) have got.

  22. wal1957

The truth is that the next 2 generations will be paying for Danny boys mistakes. Plus the mistakes at federal level as well of course.
How the hell is Danny boy still polling so well?

  23. Catcalling Inebriate

    1. Neither of these guys is signing a personal cheque. 2. Neither of these guys has a strategy for us to manage this virus and to resume activity. 3. Vaccine assumption has no basis in fact and in any case will be 2022 at least.

  24. Tom

Great Mark Knight cartoon. Unfortunately, I couldn’t include it in the 4am roundup as I rely on the Google Images monopoly, where it hadn’t yet lobbed (and where Knight cartoons are often so cropped they don’t make sense).

One Ruperdink Mudrock subscription (to the Paywallian) is enough, especially as they’ve just jacked up their sub by 34%.

Dan Andrews needs to remember his place

How can he when he cannot even remember who signed off on the Hotel Quarantine debacle?

  26. nb

Why isn’t he wearing a Mao collar?

Thanks Tombell, nicely put! Anyone who still subscribes to the Red/Blue, Left/Right paradigm needs their head examined.

  28. notafan

QLD rumour been around for a while, also rumour they are on Mornington peninsula, whichever they are low profile.

I don’t care that much, he must have had lots of threats so family should be kept safe.

No worries – there is enough cash for everybody.

    Nailed it.

Scummo created this problem – Andrews is merely seeing it through to the Nth degree.

This is the result of panic in the face of an UNKNOWN threat.

Hunt chastises PvO for panic theatrics one week and Scummo shuts down the Economy the next – headless chooks.

It’s likely Krautenburger who’s squirming in his seat.

    Karma.

That is, of course, not a cheque written by ‘Josh’.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that Josh is writing a personal cheque.

  31. Siltstone

Chairman DanXi’s wife will be in a State where she can be involved in a road accident and not get breath tested by police…

  32. Nighthawk the Elder

But it gets even better. Dan’s government totally stuffs up the Murray Basin Rail project and then expects the feds to cough up nearly $200M to sort of fix it up and not even come close to the original project objective.

They have form with this on another project, delaying the duplication of Prince’s Hwy East and trying to blame the feds for not paying their share. Only the feds had the money on the table for two years waiting for Dan and that useless Minister Jacinta Allen to cough up their share. And then last July/August they had the hide to announce it as a Covid recovery project. It’s already been announced three times previously and is 2 years behind bloody schedule waiting for the money.

I was somewhat shocked by the contempt dripping from Dan’s voice when he described Frydenberg and “just a Liberal”. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a tone of such hatred.

The terminology & tone of voice were most curious for someone who claims to be not playing politics “on this one”

  34. Catlady

My hairdresser, bless her cotton socks, feels sorry for Dan Andrews. She described him as “that poor man in Victoria”. She thinks he’s made the right decision for “the people”. She’s alright though – when we were in lockdown in NSW she was letting people in through the back door, providing home jobs.

I wonder who cuts Dan’s hair 🤔. Snip! Oops. 😱

  35. Professor Fred Lenin

Andrews going to Queensland right He may ask the communist government there for political asylum ?
Be a real lefty move ensuring labors defeat in the election . He might then have to flee to gerrymander ardens Chinese colony formerly known as New Zealand .

  36. Catlady

    *haircuts at her home 🙄

  37. Squirrel

Not sure this is so much about who “writes the cheques” – federal and state governments are ultimately only accounting entities – but where and how the real wealth of the nation is earned.

The Melbourne-centric Victorian economic model, which was based increasingly on population growth and “services”, was looking shaky before the virus hit – because only so much wealth can be transferred from elsewhere in the nation to support “growth” which is really only bloat.

  38. Colonel Bunty Golightly

Me thinks the silver fox will be the next one under the bus!

  39. More accurately Knight would have Josh in the big hamster wheel with Mr Lowe in his dust coat supervising the money printer.

I’ve read that elsewhere as well. It will be interesting to see if an astute journo or spectator spots him at the game.

  43. Bronson

GD (a) is true mum and the kids are holidaying in Queensland at tax payer expense. Death threats you know! Apparently Vicpol are so useless they can’t protect the premier and family so a nice all expenses paid holiday on the beach in Queensland under the protection of the Queensland police was the answer.

  44. yarpos

wonder how Josh ended up with a elongated Alfred Hithcock head? weird attempt at cariacture

Andrews completely lacks self awareness and does completely stupid things like criticising management and process by others after implementing the hotel quarantine debacle and now saying others are playing politics when he is clearly a slimy and evasive political operator of the highest order.

  45. Hodor

    Catlady

The “home jobs” statement has my poor tiny mind going off at so many tangents I am unable to form an appropriately risqué comment.

    Well done.👍
