If you haven’t voted yet, you have half an hour to vote LNP.

People get the governments they deserve.

    Indeed they do.
    Good, hard and without vaseline.

  6. Ubique

I’ve lived and worked for years in both Brisbane and North Queensland. I generally found Queenslanders to be parochial, simple minded, distrustful, addicted to government handouts and with lousy taste in beer. They have an uncanny knack of consistently electing rogues, child molesters, crooks, fraudsters and spivs to represent them at local, State and Federal levels.

Western Australians by contrast are far more pragmatic, outward looking (over 40 percent of Australia’s exports don’t come from WA for nothing) and have little faith in politicians who consistently rate lower than used car salesmen whether it’s Perth, the Pilbara or the Kimberley. There’s no better people in Australia.

  7. Rockdoctor

Awww watching Sky think I am going to vomit. Whoever put that together about the chook, well… Words escape me.

  8. H B Bear

There’s a reason the Gold Coast is in Queensland.

  9. Rockdoctor

Newman nails it, The LNP Primary was not enough before COVID-19 and they didn’t prosecute the cases of bureaucratic bastardry enough. Hear hear, Freckless should have been dumped months ago.

  10. Big_Nambas

You will never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the average Australian voter.

  11. Roger

over 40 percent of Australia’s exports don’t come from WA for nothing

WA exports in 2018/19 wer 36.5% on a balance of payments basis.

QLD 22.4%; c. 5% higher than NSW and about double VIC, the sick man of Australia.

  12. notafan

40% of exports from their significant manufacturing base?

  13. Spurgeon Monkfish III

The Sky coverage is intolerable, courtesy of a labore homosexual (BIRM).

  14. Bruce of Newcastle

    Chook raffle.
Whilst I like birds I wouldn’t want to choose between these two.
NSW not so great either, I admit.
I should draw chickens on my next state ballot paper.

  15. Mother Lode

over 40 percent of Australia’s exports don’t come from WA for nothing

I heard 90% of all exports come from ports. They should secede.

  16. Rockdoctor

Nice, Chrisifuli on Sky. He should be the next leader.

  17. Bruce of Newcastle

Actually, now I think of it, Palaszczuk, Frecklington, Berejiklian and McKay would all be great names for chook breeds. I wonder which would be best of show?

  18. Spurgeon Monkfish III

  24. Cassie of Sydney

Freckleface won’t win…no surprises there….when you run on a Labor lite platform…you get what you deserve.

Sad…because QLD needs a change of government.

  25. Roger

PHON’s state wide vote has halved at this early stage.

  26. Roger

    In the worst way.

He can’t tie a tie, for starters.

  27. Cassie of Sydney

Littleproud trying to blame it on Covid…Covid…Covid.

  28. EvilElvis

There’s no better people in Australia.

I concur. And I’m not biased!

On the plus side, tonight is one night that Vic’s can rail against another states stupidity and reasonably get away with it. Let the games begin.

  29. Rockdoctor

Calling it now, absolutely no chance for the LNP. In fact looking worse than what I thought it would be. They’ll need a Hiace at this rate for transport to Parliament…

  30. mh

Toowoomba North and Toowoomba South both LNP retain.

  31. Zyconoclast

Nice, Chrisifuli on Sky. He should be the next leader

Yep, the LNP are going backwards. Serves them right. Freckleface has been inept…much like Matthew Guy was in Victoria two years ago.

Oh well…the Liberals in QLD and Victoria are now the permanent parties of opposition.

  35. mh

    Oh well.
See you all back here in 4 years.
I wonder if the borders will be open then?

  36. Jumpnmcar

Unique, how nice it must be to need a permit to fish the biggest, most sparsely populated coastline in Australia.

  37. Roger

Come 2024 Labor are going to be caught between a Green rock and a mining hard place.

  38. Ubique

Western Australia accounted for 48% of Australia’s merchandise exports in 2019-20. WA’s GSP per capita of $109,565 in 2018-19 was 42% above Australia’s GDP per capita of $77,347. WA’s largest export market in 2019-20 was China ($98.5b or 54%), followed by Japan ($22.7b or 12%) and the United Kingdom ($13.0b or 7%). WA held majority shares of Australia’s exports to the United Kingdom (83%), China (65%), Singapore (59%) and Hong Kong (53%) in 2019-20.

  39. Roger

    Go Toowoomba!

    Numbers is a Toowoomba outliar.

  40. Cassie of Sydney

QLD to have four more years of Labor…I suspect Labor will be able govern in their own right. They’re already on their way to picking up some LNP seats.

  41. Rockdoctor

Wow, that POS Les Walker is well ahead in Mundingburra. They deserve what they are about to get, 4 years of nothing by a guy that is low rent. They’ll work out very quickly when Brisbane does them no favours unlike when Les could pork barrel with the Council funds as a Councillor…

  42. Spurgeon Monkfish III

The Gliberal National Agrarian Socialist Pardee loses to a big fat arse the size of a large planet upscreechee slag (again).

    Grate effort, imbeciles. 😡 🤬

  43. cohenite

PHON will be the biggest disappointment in QLD. With no effective lnp and PHON gutted that’s fucking it. And if scomo doesn’t pick up a piece of coal he’s fucked nationally. Until conservatives start acting like Trump they’re gonna keep dying by a 1000 cuts.

  44. Cassie of Sydney

The Labor thugs at the booth in town are becoming threatening and standing in front of her signs, shirt fronting style tactics, while leaving the fellow global socialist Liberal party guy’s gear alone.

Forget Katter, I reckon One nation will get the protest vote in the regions, they’ve been everywhere and really visible for months now.

    The Great Predictorator strikes again.

  48. EvilElvis

Until conservatives start acting like Trump they’re gonna keep dying by a 1000 cuts.

No good sending the choirboy into the bordello and praying for a result. Fucking conservatives need to get comfy with getting down and dirty.

Note, getting fucked by progressive libertarians is not getting down and dirty.

  49. Boambee John

I heard 90% of all exports come from ports. They should secede.

When Kep Enderby (aka Crap Endlessly) was involved with trade issues in the Whitless government, he gave us the resounding insight that “Traditionally, most of Australia’s imports come from overseas”.

Still, he did better than the education minister, who memorably promised not to rest until all Australian children were above average.

  50. Roger

That’s what you get when you force people to vote. It should be voluntary and then the parties and candidates would have to work harder to get you to come out and vote.

    2nded.

  51. Viva

It’s as you were in Queensland with everyone retaining what they already held. Why did they bother to have an election…

  52. Wallabies taking it up the Freckle, down 0-26 at the moment, a bit like PHONs vote

  53. Queensland is turning into the ACT, Labor and Greens fighting it out for seats with the LNP irrelevant.

Most? Where did the remainder come from? 😵

  58. Rockdoctor

Think I am going to ditch Sky. Looking at the results tracker online things seem a little more in play still in some seats. One thing though Freckless is toast.

  59. Crossie

Well it seems as if Queensland voters agree with Palacechook that we southerners are dangerous so I will be looking elsewhere to park my tourist dollars.

  60. Roger

Speers smugly thinks SE QLD now represents the electoral mainstream.

He’s not necessarily wrong, but it should be noted that SE QLD is a net consumer of wealth, not a producer.

  77. Old Lefty

For most of us here, it will be bittersweet news that the ghastly Trad is on the way out. Great news, if it wasn’t for the prospect that she’ll be replaced bye a Green.

The Palace Chook, on the other hand, will be unreservedly happy. With Trad gone, the Chook may even have some sway in the ALP.

  78. Petros

The breakdown on the ABC site doesn’t look too bad for the LNP. The totals are assuming the ALP picks up most of the seats in doubt.

  79. Tom

The media won the election for the Labor Party. Kung Flu hysteria has demonstrated how easily Australia voters can be manipulated if the TV networks have made them fearful of what amounts to a flu bug that won’t affect 90% of the population.

A sweeping victory for Qld ALP. Well, to the victors go the spoils…. Green energy and the welfare state it is then.

We’ll have to watch with interest how our Socialists react to a Donald Trump’s Presidential victory. I’m sure China is watching avidly too.

  87. Scott Osmond

The role for freckles was to lose. I’ll give her this, she did it well. Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for Labor, Greens or LNP. To my fellow Queenslanders, when the debt bomb explodes, when you are sitting in the dark, when the next petty dictate comes down to you who voted for this I hope the chains of leftist misery sit lightly on you.

  88. Ubique

In other news, the Woke Wallabies in their natty green outfits are being smashed by the All Blacks. Meanwhile, Rugby Australia remains concerned about whether the Wallabies should take a knee before matches, how long the knee position should be held, and should they be insisting that all venues have transgender change rooms.

When was the last time any State or the Commonwealth government led by the LNP repealed even one socialist piece of legislation, in fact, they are more than likely to introduce socialist legislation hoping to pick up Labor & Green votes. The LNP are absolute geniuses when comes to cultivating a non-socialist base./sarc

Queensland is a uniquely queer place in any event, they even have two Constitutions with the last one (2001) being enacted (Beattie) without a referendum by altering the referendum section of the 1867 Constitution.

    Anyway, fuck em’.

  94. mh

Lotsa Queenslanders sure don’t deserve that.
And she will still be struggling with Covid-19 as well as Labor’s massive debt this time next year.

A corona premier or PM is not going to lose an election right now. People are grateful to be corona-free and alive, never mind the threat and government reaction was overdone and just so exaggerated after 6 or 8 weeks of lockdown.

Plenty of us are appalled at what they are doing to the state, not just with the ghastly parochial border business and Qld hospitals being for Queenslanders and nobody else, and still excluding you from joining us. They’ve systematically rooted fisheries, and are doing their damndest to do the same to agriculture and (some) mining.

The city/country and SE corner/regional divide is huge, but we’re outside of the SE corner here and we haven’t got the numbers to carry the day.

    Bushkid,
Agree with you. Not all of the SE corner is cretinous though. We have to live somewhere. Unfortunately, it has been red for decades now with the occasional blip. My electorate looks like it is staying red with a greater tinge of green.

Newman didn’t help. If he’d done it right, we could be in a much better position now.

However, from some of the generalisations from our southern cousins here tonight, I will await the results of their next elections with great interest. I do hope our ‘betters’ are able to make the changes necessary as an example to us.

I don’t hate southerners. I couldn’t care less if the borders were opened. I do get a bit irritated being told what I should be doing by those who seem to be doing a great job of stuffing their own states (whether they vote for it or not). I’d love a truly conservative government that looks after the regions and the country. That is a pipedream since the Nats seem to just be greens in disguise now. Don’t forget, there was a massive influx of southerners in the early 2000’s when the housing boom hit and they moved up here for the cheaper houses (not anymore). I doubt they were all conservative voters either.

It looks like Andrews will probably get re-elected and even if Gladys does, her government is Labor Lite anyway like any other Lib government is Oz.

It looks like we are all on the Titanic but some think it’s only sinking at one end.

Mrs HT and I have discussed bypassing Queensland and South Australia in the future too. As retirees we spend at least eight weeks up North every year, but the attitude of Queensland is putting us off ever going again. South Australia is worse though, Mrs HT actually refuses to go there again because their extreme parochialism actually makes her feel unsafe in a car and Caravan with Victorian plates.

I need keep reminding myself though that the government and media aren’t Queenslanders, anymore than Andrews reflects a Victorians true nature. I just wish we could reset all this Uber Parochialism that’s happening because of the Covid hysteria, and get back to being Australians first.

Seriously, notwithstanding the absolute hysteria surrounding Covid ATM, a Labor government in Queensland has almost no practical affect on my life. Likewise, a Labor government in Victoria doesn’t make me stupid, a bad person or a communist. It just means I live in state that voted Labor, and mostly that rarely even touches me, at all (again, notwithstanding the past extraordinary 9 months). The country I live in is actually a damn nice place to live, good to reflect on that now and again…

Horrified, nay angered, when Senator McDonald spake heresy about Australia Post.
ALPBC indignantly ann0unced they’ll be reporting Senator McDonald to Christine Holgate. So there!

ALPBC then softball interviews Cynthia Lui, member for Cook (Cape York). Ms Lui said how hard she’d worked in the electorate during the campaign – a statement not consistent with the recollections of anybody actually in the electorate.

Asked what she plans for her second term, Lui said “… my first term was about getting to know my communities & the electorate, the second term will be about getting some service delivery into the electorate…”
Translation: “I’ve done absolutely nothing during my first term, I’m here for life, I’m the ALP’s token indigenous in parliament & I don’t really want to dilute this special status by sharing it with anybody else”

Forget the polls and work on changing the culture. If anyone in your life publicly talks good of Labor, just treat them like shit. Most of this stuff won’t be fixed until the Australian Dollar finally collapses and the public-sector salaries are rendered meaningless. Then we can start the trials. Keep a list.

It actually looks like most people vote the same at every election regardless of circumstances, performance or alternatives. Hardly any seats will change hands, and those that do are probably due to demographic changes.

When asking someone why they support a particular party the most common response is “at least they 《disparaging remark about the alternative big party》” Clearly it takes a lot more pain to make the average voter think – about 70 years in Africa, are Australians any smarter?

Yes, I am absolutely certain of it. Sure, there seems to be a ridiculous number who have been scared by this virus thing, and until tonight I hadn’t realised how many because the areas I move in and the people I talk to have got is sussed and don’t believe a word of it. Many of those people are in the supposedly vulnerable cohort as well, and they know it’s bull. Hell, I’m over 60 myself, and I don’t fear this thing any more than I would the regular ‘flu, which it not at all.

Yeah, maybe I didn’t realise how brainwashed the less realistic are, but there’s still plenty of us who aren’t. We just don’t count when it comes to elections, it seems, and we’re the same people this state government has been hammering for years now.

BKJr though is a pice of entitled work. To witness him berate a poor counter staff worker at an airport because the plane’s door did not stay open for Lord Katter’s always late arrival was a thing to behold (he is always the last to board to ensure everyone notices him). And then get all stroppy when everyone in the line behind him started siding with the poor girl. A contemptible bully.
Another story, when there was one of those nineties wool industry enquiries, this one led by Ian Macglaughlin (another prick, but a tale for another time). Anyway, the findings were being delivered in Parliament House, and there was questions being held. Midway through Bob stalks in loudly talking on this enormous brick of a mobile phone. He sat down the back continuing the phone conversation (about nothing AFAICT). When he finished he stood up and asked if he could ask a question. “sure” said Ian. Bib then like Cher into a good five minute rant about how poorly done buy wool growers were as the government had ended the reserve price scheme. After a while Ian asked if he had a question. “sure” said Bob and asked something incredibly lame of the AWC economist. The dude started answering but had only got a few words out when the noble Bob got up and left. He got his sound bite recorded dutifully by the Queensland Country Life though, which was the purpose of this pathetic theatre.

Robbie IMO has a bit of smarts about him too that the old man doesn’t fully posess. KAP kept their vote this time but Robbie needs to work out a way to cut through in 4 years if he wants to expand beyond the 3 seats they have in essentially the Federal electorate of Kennedy, 10-15% of the primary isn’t going to win them a seat.
