It’s over – Biden won fair and square

Get over it – Trump lost easily because of his own misbehaviour and incompetence. While I think he did a few good things for the country, he has managed to offend enough people enough of the time that they voted overwhelmingly to oust him from the presidency.

There has been no conspiracy or voter fraud – that is clear – even Trump appointees in the various Courts have found no significant examples of voter fraud. Whether you like it or not, Trump lost in a landslide (much more than the margin between him and Hillary Clinton in 2016).

His behaviour since the election has been nothing short of scandalous. trying to tear the country apart and grossly mismanaging the coronavirus pandemic, leading to massive deaths and human misery.

The man is an absolute con artist who has beguiled too many people with a tale of draining the swamp when he actually added to the swamp and used the presidency to advance his own family’s interests just like the many petty dictators around the world. Trump is no different to Marcos, Ceaușescu and many other tyrants who have lined their own pockets at the expense of the public.

That the Cat is full of conspiracy theorists is deeply concerning. There is much to be worried about in society today, including wokeism, climate changer paranoia and the like, but latching onto the like of Trump was always going to be a false dawn. Instead he has destroyed the Republicans and their sensible policy framework and helped entrench the democrats which are increasingly populated by the nutty leftists.

The GoP needs a new figure to unite them, build their political capital and promote the virtues of capitalism and the market economy and democracy so that the US can once again be a beacon to the world. Instead the era of Trumpism has destroyed

It is time to forget Trump and hope that he is soon seen by everyone as the angry old sore loser that he is. And it is time that the Cat contributors accepted his fate and  opened their eyes to his incompetence and corruption.

Persisting in fantasies of stolen elections is not going to help your own mental health, will accomplish nothing and just cause you too to be angry, disillusioned and ignored. Don’t be a conspiracy theorist, please, otherwise people will start seeing you as deranged.

So – 70 million + Americans got it totally wrong?
The USA’s electoral processes are totally rooted.
Let’s hope we aren’t going going down the same road.

  2. Sunbird

    I agree with you.
I will always be grateful to him for saving the USA from Hilary but he acted like an idiot the whole time he was in office.

  3. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus

Far more people voted against Trump than voted for Trump. That’s a fact. Yes, a large number voted for Trump, which reflects concern about the left. But Trump alienated so many people that they came out in their droves to kick him decisively out of office. It matters not whether 70 million voted for Trump. Many more people voted for Biden – and he clearly won the electoral college. That’s democracy – the majority wins.

  4. Some History

No. He won more votes and (very likely) will win (from a contingent electiontion).

The man is an absolute con artist

Yet his sons aren’t crackheads banging hookers on tape. 10% for the Big Guy!

But really you can’t be this stupid.

This has to be a troll.

You don’t have to love Trump to realise he’s much preferable to senile Joe Biden or that the Democrat electoral fraud is shocking and historically significant.

  8. Bob

Interesting to say that there is no evidence of substantial fraud, despite Matt Braynard documenting ~10 000 people moving out of GA yet being on record of voting in both their new state and voting absentee in GA (I may have the state wrong but the gist is there).
Next, recent CCTV footage of an Atlanta counting station where observers were removed from the room and then 4 boxes with an estimated 6000 votes each were pulled from beneath a table and counting continued unsupervised for about 2 hours.

Whether there is enough fraud and irregularity to change the result is another matter, but saying the election is over during the period of the time set aside for challenging the results is utterly ridiculous.

  9. Cassie of Sydney

“It is time to forget Trump “

I will never forget President Trump….he moved the embassy to its rightful location, the first president to have the balls to do so, unlike his wimp predecessors Clinton, Bush and Obummer….and under Trump’s watch Israel signed peace treaties with Bahrain, UAE and Sudan…none of which is forgettable.

And as for your line “That the Cat is full of conspiracy theorists is deeply concerning.”…I find it deeply troubling that you are given a platform to spruik your patronising rubbish.

Lastly, there is someone who is easily forgettable…and that’s you LQC. Eff off.

  10. Dot

Anyone believes the MSM is a conspiracy theorist.

    Wussia Wussia Wussia!

  11. Tezza

No voter fraud? That is a preposterous view. No ‘significant’ voter fraud? You advance both propositions in the one sentence. Which is it?
Whether fraud – manifestly somewhat larger than usual – has been sufficient to alter the outcome is an empirical question I await the evidence on. That evidence will come from statisticians and academics examining the probabilities of unlikely national patterns of voting, not judges in a few individual state courts.
Covid is a straw man. Measured by deaths per million and disregarding demographics and dry tinder differences, US policies under the complexities of a federal system have failed just as much as policies in France, the UK and Spain, with the worst US failure under the Democrats in NY.
Incidentally, why don’t you write under your real name, if you’re so keen to abuse the evidence base, common sense and thoughtfulness of those you write to?

  12. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus

I agree that Trump did some good things – moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem is one of those good things. But he has lost just about every Court challenge so it’s time to accept he lost. It’s not a conspiracy, he just lost, simple as that.

It’s nice of you to bring it here, but we can access similar – in fact, identical – assertions at any time by turning on the TV or picking up a newspaper. I avoid that, because the calculated lies and idiotic group-think in our news media make me sick. Except for the usual suspects, catallaxy is mercifully free of that disease (there’s intelligent group-think), and I can get actual (actual!) information linked by other Cats. Or, say, in the Oz Speccie, which has an article from US Speccie by Patrick Basham. It’s a compact summary of many of the statistical anomalies that contradict the story. UK Speccie editors must be shaking their heads.

  24. Genghis

LQC – total garbage. I will except the election result when someone explains any registered voters going over 90% and the number of people (little people) who have signed afitadavits swearing they saw big if not massive voter fraud. I would also like to know how many ballots in these States only voted for Biden against votes in previous elections and not the rest of the ticket? There is much evidence of double voting and voting in two States.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.

Dot, if you take Lucy at his word, Trump’s failure is that he wasn’t a rock-ribbed conservative, and did nothing to upset the deep corruption at the core of American politics. I guess that’s why the established political order have turned themselves inside out for four years trying to destroy him.

All of this seems to be a tad premature. It may be wise to stop the banter and preferred positions of any outcome until the fat lady sings. That won’t be until one of a few things occurs.

    1. The Supreme Court refuses to hear any case.
2 The Supreme Court hears Trumps case/s and chucks them out.
    3. The Supreme Court hears Trumps case/s and finds enough reason to question the validity of the election and chooses to pass the outcome of the election on to Congress to vote for the President and for the Senate to vote for the Vice President in accordance with Amendment 12 of the US Constitution.
    4. Trump concedes.
    5. The Electoral College votes to anoint one of the contenders based on the states certification of the results and one of the contenders has over 270 votes and there are no outstanding stays issued by courts.

  137. David Brewer

Whether you like it or not, Trump lost in a landslide (much more than the margin between him and Hillary Clinton in 2016).

Wrong. The election is decided in the electoral college. If the results as shown at the moment hold up, Trump will lose the electoral college 306-232, the exact margin by which he won in 2016 (before faithless electors in the electoral college increased his majority).

Both elections were extremely close, despite claims by Trump in 2016 and the LQC now that the results were landslides. This time, Biden, on current numbers, won all four of the closest states. If they had gone the other way, Trump would have won by 40 electoral college votes. Even if the three closest states (Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin) had gone to Trump instead of Biden, the result would have been tied at 269 electoral votes each, with Trump on the numbers then winning in Congress. The current margins for Biden in those three states are 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.6%. A total of less than 50 000 extra votes would flip them to Trump – out of 155 million ballots counted. That does not of course mean it’s going to happen.

  139. Fess

I’m not even sure if Lucius is just trying to take the piss. Nevertheless, you don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist. A massive vote fraud would be consistent with US electoral history – just google it. There were large vote batches that have a probability of 10exp(-80) or so. It’s only a couple of years since I saw a Democratic National Convention guy caught on video bragging that they have been building fake voter IDs for over 50 years and at that time had well over 5 million of them. Their flaky electoral system makes fraud too easy, so it’s hard to think of a good reason why both parties wouldn’t be working it as hard as they can.
Fraud or not, seems like sleepy Joe will get there, but Lucius’ version of “these aren’t the droids you’re looking for” is no more likely to be the truth than any of the other crap you can read on the web.
As for offending everyone – the only people offended were the haters who were determined to take offence no matter what. 146. 2dogs

There has been no conspiracy or voter fraud – that is clear

On the actual proved fraud, this situation may turn out to be like being audited by the tax office. You may have been entirely honest in stating your deductions claims, but if you don’t have the receipts to back them up, the tax office will disallow them. Here the analogy is that even if the count itself was honest, the exclusion of scrutineers alone may invalidate sufficient votes to cause the supreme court to look for remedies.

I don’t have to engage in any conspiracy theory to form the view that scrutineers were restricted – it is quite open that this was done, and the reason for it being given as COVID. No-one disputes that, and it isn’t a question of fact. But there is a question of law as to whether those COVID restrictions invalidated the vote count, and we won’t know the answer to that until SCOTUS rules on the matter.

  147. David Brewer

    Trump lost in a landslide

Data refuting this nonsense are here and here.

More than three-quarters of all 59 US presidential elections were decided by bigger electoral college margins than this one. And even if you take the popular vote, more than two-thirds of them had bigger margins. Some landslide!

WIV were undertaking Gain of Function research on bat viruses – not a conspiracy theory, since they published their results in peer-reviewed journals. LQC, all those times when you critiqued Trump, I thought you were just taken the pi$$. Reading your latest piece, your authentic judgement spills all over the page. You know I prefer your alter ego, LQC, not the democrat of the 1850s, but the Roman of 450BC, whose unorthodox means bought him justifiable recognition, his selfless service to the republic in crisis, his forfeiture of power once a crisis was resolved, ability to make quick and efficient decisions in a state of war. Clearly your judgment is erring, though I am sure it was impeccable at some point and may be still. But you have lost your common-sense and compass of reason with the coming of Trump. Trump’s rantings weren’t supposed to be for you, you were supposed to see through them, they were meant for the “clever sillies”, the technocrats with significant IQs but no common-sense. I know it’s hard to reconcile his aggressive narrative, a necessary weapon when fighting an enemy that doesn’t fight by the rules of the enlightenment, is eager to protect its nest egg, hide its corruption and control the MSM. How else do you remind the plebs you exist when the game is rigged. Its unorthodox but it served its purpose especially when the enemy is everywhere. Trump has got F*** Y** M****, he is not doing this for personal gain, unlike others. In fact, it could be argued that during his presidency he has lost wealth. His message through the years has been consistent, he has never wavered. Yes, he may have bad habits, but these aren’t consequential to his presidency. Yes, his trade policies weren’t friendly, yes his border wall was anti-immigrant, but context is important, I can help with that if you don’t find your common-sense. I know you want to perceive your president as presidential but that’s really difficult when you’re up against an enemy that is trying to bring back feudalism.

To anyone with an ounce of common sense and has watched the last 4 years of Trump, it is clear the democrats are more than capable of stealing an election, the bigger the lie perpetrated the more likely people will believe it just read up on Jo Goebbels. There was nothing fair about this election, there is nothing to get over, you just have to persist with every civilised weapon you have until the enemy gives in through attrition or reveals itself out of arrogance and ego centred narcissism. The pressure needs to be sustained. Trump will prevail with or without the presidency, they all have it coming, until his dead. Then we can return to our future AI technocracy, but not before a few counterpunches.

  171. Mr Johnson

I’m old enough to remember when the Russian collusion stories were swirling around the press and we were told emphatically and conclusively that ‘Trump is a Russian asset, and that’s a fact.” Right now, the only fact that’s going to matter is what the SCOTUS has to say, especially with Amy Coney Barrett now in residence.

That is just my take on what happened.

Understandable that someone who died 2500 years ago supports Biden. I guess by Roman standards this was a fair contest, and Biden seems to have the integrity of Commodus. Given Biden’s apparent age it is possible that they went to school together. His peccadilloes seem appropriately Roman.

Whilst it’s obvious that the Democrats didn’t cheat, okay would you believe maybe: didn’t cheat enough to swing the election. How about you can’t prove every instance of cheating, so it doesn’t count.

I guess Lucy supports Biden primarily because he has re-enfranchised dead people. It’s entirely possible that the Democrats registered Lucy to vote. After all being dead for 2500 years and not being a citizen of the US are not reasons to not vote Democrat.

Read Rafe’s article above then consider Bidet wants to ramp up the US participation in the Paris Accord, really so, so stupid.

No, it was posted as a joke wasn’t it? Tell me it was otherwise I won’t be able to stop laughing all day.

Does anyone have an opinion on why the election stealers made it so obvious?

Notwithstanding the likelihood that Trump unexpectedly received so many votes that the Dems were forced to go for broke and stuff the ballots at the last minute in order to win, Theodore Dalrymple explained it in his summary of state propaganda – forcing people to accept that something is true (Biden won) when clearly it isn’t, is all part of the process of subjugating them:

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

  190. Cassie of Sydney

“When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity.”

Yep…a perfect example of this is the nonsense that transwomen are women.

  191. bollux

LQC- Was there anything the Democrats didn’t do to steal this election? The raft of pre election law changes, the continual fight to have mail-in ballots, the Dominion machines, Smartmatic software, early counting halts and subsequent late night landslides for Biden, early calls by media touting Biden as President elect, etc, etc. What is your opinion on the Fulton county video? I’d be interested to know how a closet Leftie views thing in the real world. I would, honest. Just asking.

  192. Rockdoctor

Wow. What a rant. As for voter fraud, yeah na plenty of evidence. Mostly circumstantial regrettably, apart from that footage from Georgia which pretty well much refutes the “no voter fraud” assertion being thrown about.

As for the assertion Trump has acted inappropriately. How? He is well within his rights to be pursuing the present coarse of action.

Where I have common ground with you is yes I do think Biden will be inaugurated, right or more IMHO wrongly. However the fat lady hasn’t sung yet and I’ll judge Trump on his behavour when the umpire blows the whistle.

  193. Kneel

“…found no significant examples of voter fraud.”

    Interesting MSM narrative evolution:

“No evidence of voter fraud” – except sworn eyewitness statements.
“No evidence of widespread voter fraud” – except more sworn statements.
“Baseless allegations of voter fraud” – except video of it happening.
“No proof of voter fraud” – except video of it happening that matches sworn statements, various statistical anomalies, one of which has only been violated once (JFK) and that election was also clouded by allegations of fraud.

See also Project Veritas’ exposure of CNN deliberately, and from the top down, suppressing legitimate news stories detrimental to Biden and polls showing election changing swings in voter intention had they known the facts prior to the election.

Then there’s the SC saying that you can’t bring a case until you suffer damage, then saying you’re too late you should have brought the case before the election, and one complainant actually likely to suffer personal loss if his case succeeds (noted by the judge who said “likely to succeed” and law unconstitutional “on its face”).

The whole thing stinks to high heaven of corruption and fraud, and there are significant indications it was planned – 5 swing states ALL say they need to stop counting, send away observers and/or prevent meaningful observation, all 5 have “vote dumps” in the middle of the night that miraculously take Biden from well behind to just in front, and in one case, after Biden got in front all subsequent vote “batches” broke exactly the same at 50.05% Biden to 49.95% Trump.
Thousands of “mail in” votes with no creases – despite the fact that they must be folded to fit in the envelope.
Trump won Florida and Ohio as well as 18 bellwether counties that got the Presidential pick correct for the last 40+ years, yet he still lost.
Trump increased his vote and still lost, despite no incumbent President that increased his vote ever losing before.
Trump got one of the largest primary votes and increased his primary vote, but still lost, despite this never happening before.
No democrat candidate has been able to win with less than 90% of the black vote, but Trump got 15+% of the black vote and still lost.
No democrat has won with less than 65% of the hispanic vote, yet Trump got well more than 50% of the hispanic vote and still lost.
Several examples in swing states of statistically highly unlikely margin and ratio anomalies – 99.5 percentile anomalies that, had they been even 99 percentile (still a major outlier) would have had Biden lose.

Something is wrong – one or two might be eyebrow raising but excusable, all the the above indicates the need to investigate further. Democrats say it was fair and above board, but resist investigation and transparency – why?

FBI spent 2.5 years and $48M investigating collusion based on a document that the CIA told them before they even started was likely deliberate misinformation paid for by a political opponent, yet seem unable to muster the will to investigate an issue where more than 10,000 sworn statements – and now a corroborating video – indicate fraud may have occurred.

Apparently the swamp is deeper and dirtier than anyone ever imagined, and the swamp dwellers are dead set against anyone draining the swamp and wreaking their nice little earners.

But in the end it comes down to this – no-one is President-elect yet, that awaits at least the 6th Jan when EC votes are counted. Trump still has a path to victory, slim as it may be – but he’s beaten the odds before (“99% chance of Hillary winning” etc).
And the one legal case I am aware of in Trumps name is the WI case alleging mal/mis-feasance in the election process of officials exceeding their clearly delineated authority, which makes a pretty strong case in both law and precedent. It seems highly likely that all of GA, PA, WI and NV at least will not make their “safe harbour” dates with no outstanding legal issues, which would take Biden below 270 EC votes if either the states themselves don’t send electors OR the federal senate rejects those EC votes as “contested” and/or “unreliable”.

It’s not over until the 20th Jan when someone raises their hand and swears themselves into the presidency. Until then, buckle up – it’s gonna be a wild ride.

Does anyone have an opinion on why the election stealers made it so obvious?

The red mirage arrived as predicted though. Some here seem oblivious to it though, and insist it’s evidence of fraud.

Dopey gropey China Joe Biden is in line to be inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States of America. Sure, absolutely, without question.

There doesn’t appear to be any massive fraud, but as someone described , little packets of frauds of different types on all the right places. That’s the claim and there are now thousands of signed depositions suggesting this. US elections are a mess. There’s almost no ability to audit the work and process because there’s no real audit trail.
Dominion: They won’t allow any audit of their software for proprietary reasons, or so they claim. How does any voting entity purchase a vote accounting system that can’t be examined?

Last point: Do you really trust the Demonrat held, big American cities?

Yes, he can. I think it’s that great friend of the doom lord, Michael Trumble. I bet he’s still fuming about that not realising the insult he delivered to Trump when in 2016 the day after the election he rushed out in front of the cameras to assure Australians not to panic.

Of course, I could be wrong. There are so many idiots out there that it could be any one of them.

  221. Harry Truman

We’ve seen the tail of Brett Stevens already, and don’t need to get a lecture from you about our judgement about President Trump. He is to us, the Cats, the ‘Man of the Century’. During these past four years, all the autocrats, including the Mullahs, got the message that their days were numbered. Huh!

  222. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus

Oh come on, there is no systematic electoral fraud – every time people claim this, it has been rejected by Trump appointed Courts. Just accept he lost, whether you like it or not. It is not dignified to insist that it is a big fraud, it looks like you’re all sore losers. I already said I don’t like Biden, but he has won. And when he stands on the podium on 20 January and is sworn in as the president will you all still insist it is a fraud? In a couple of days the date for the final certification will have past and there is no further legal avenues for Trump. Biden already has won enough electoral college votes that have been certified to be elected so there is zero chance of Trump claiming victory. Then the Electoral College will meet on 14 December and vote for Biden. Surely when the Electoral College votes for Biden you will accept the result? Or are you all going to be conspiracy theorists focused on the past rather than planning for a GOP victory in 2024? For all your ranting and raving, Biden is going to be the President from 20 January 2021. So get over it please

  223. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus

I don’t have TDS by the way. I just have seen an election where Biden won. As simple as that.

  224. Lee

The premise of this article (that Trump has been bad for America and the GOP) is fundamentally flawed.
Trump can survive (maybe not as president) without the Republican Party, but I seriously doubt that the Republican Party can survive without him.
Sucking up to and surrendering to their bitter enemies, the Democrats, which people like LQC seem to advocate, will ultimately destroy the Republicans.
And could well result in a new right wing party in the long run.

  225. Tel

Enjoyed reading you, Lucius. Well said. Thank you.

  232. dover_beach

Oh come on, there is no systematic electoral fraud – every time people claim this, it has been rejected by Trump appointed Courts.

Most of the cases have been denied on procedural grounds. We had the Act 77 case, which the trial judge said was likely unconstitutional, denied a hearing in the Penn Supreme Court on the laches, namely, that they brought the matter too late. That case is now I think docketed for SCOTUS. When a similar hearing was sought before the election, they threw the case out on the grounds of lack of standing, because the plaintiffs had not yet suffered harm.

The claim that there is no systemic election fraud is just incredible. The substantial lack of oversight of the mail-in ballots, both in terms of chain of custody, during the inspection of the envelopes, counting of the ballots, and the like, has been well-established. This is evidenced every day in Georgia by the continual refusal to conduct signature verification of the ballots. In WI, they’ve documented tens of thousands of mail-in ballots that do not have the requisite appication which state law requires. We have evidence that private, third-party contractors had direct access to voter roles in MI and PA. If the same fact-pattern of malfeasance is appearing across 4-6 states ( I haven’t detailed the shenanigans in AZ and NV but it is the same and also enough to flip both states) I think you can call it systemic.
