Have to laugh. Watching an old foodie program on SBS with Rick Stein. Probably 90’s, as it featured Gough at a restaurant. He interviews a young-ish Lindy Milan. She opines “We are either convicts or migrants. We have a disregard for authority.”

Fast forward to 2020. Wear your mask. Stay at home. Resist at your peril. No protests, no exceptions. Coz we said so.

Did we ever have a healthy disregard for authority, or was it just a story we made up about ourselves?

  3. Knuckle Dragger says:

Confirmed. Realllly really tough gig being in this chick’s clutch purse for 18 years (the Hun):

‘Buckley, who had spent his formative years in Darwin and Adelaide before starting his footy career in Queensland, appeared dazzled by Tania’s appetite for the finer things in life.

‘He went from sporting a mullet haircut and wearing flannelette shirts and holidaying with the boys in Bali to a sharply-dressed international jetsetter with Tania on his arm.

‘“Tania’s got very refined tastes, she knows what she likes and doesn’t like. I think when you share time with the person, the one, you meld and you take on traits of the other, there’s no doubt,” he said in the early 2000s.

‘“She definitely likes quality. She likes quality places, quality people. She‘s not as comfortable in places and situations she doesn’t rate.’

    Welcome to freedom, Mr Buckley.

    Hmmm.
    Or smart, depending on circumstance.
I made a judgement long ago that a small number of people here were political grifters looking for a vehicle to latch onto for their own benefit.
I suspect they had long ago been shunted by the LNP (hence the residual bitterness).
PHON was already too crowded and competitive for carpetbaggers.
And the likes of Bernardi were way too guarded for amateur grifters.
I reckon the next target is someone like Ricardo Bosi.
He’s got a bit of a profile, and if he snags an upper house seat somewhere, they might weasel their way in to a tasty staffer job to “advance the cause” on full pay

Suffice to say, association with spivs like that is not in my interests. Ironically, as soon as it became obvious (after the Big Shutdown) that identities were being shared with the Furniture Shop, I resolved to preserve my anonymity.

    Oooh.
    Didn’t see that.
But my search capability is good.
Look, let’s cut to the chase.
The aspirationals set up a Big Website.
They thought the Cat Crash in April would yield the beginnings of an Australian Conservative Treehouse or somesuch, with the triumvirate in the driver’s seat.
After the initial flight of refugee Cats to the Furniture Factory it all dropped off.
Nothing but three Sad-Sacks in an echo chamber.

Collect a mailing list, hopefully soak some of the list for cash and/or use their profile to establish a political profile.
Do some horse trading with the preference whisperer guy and Bob is your transgender auntie.
My only point about Bernardi is that, having been in the party system forever, he would spot those carpetbaggers a mile off.

Massage a few egos, a few soothing words about how mean the others are, share a few snippets of gossip, collect some cash, latch onto someone who may be useful.

  49. Zulu Kilo Two Alpha says:

Got reminded of this one, for whatever reason

A few years ago, a society belle in Sydney divorced her husband. She claimed to the Family Law Court that she was so shattered by the breakdown of the marriage that she would never form another relationship, and would spend the rest of her life alone. The Family Law Court gave her a sizeable slice of her husband’s assets by way of a property settlement.

With her new found wealth, she decided to marry the lover that had been on the scene, the whole time.

Come the day of the wedding, all eyes were on the bride, as she entered the church on her father’s arm. Three figures, two of them hired for the occasion slipped into the back of the church. When the priest got to the part of the ceremony about “Any man, knowing any reason why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold his peace” a young lady, giving every appearance of being heavily pregnant, stood and screamed “Yes, he’s the father of my child, and I’m meant to be standing there, not her!” She then fled the church to a waiting car.

Confusion ensued. The bride let out a shriek and fainted dead away, the father of the bride punched the groom on the nose and a free for all began….and the ex husband and a former Commando Sergeant, also hired for the occasion, slipped out of the back of the church……he didn’t have to buy his own drinks for quite some time…

One openly expressed his disappointment here that someone beat him to the punch chiselling funds out of indigenous development organisations.
Another expressed a desire that a candidate he was supporting might snag an upper house seat which would provide funds and staff “to advance our cause” (a clear misuse of electoral office funding).

where the fuck do split-pins come from?

  107. bespoke says:

Seriously, mate make sure you don’t spend that much time hear and end up like MV and others. MV was also part of the Cat cult.

  108. bespoke says:

  109. Arky says:

But, you know, never too late to put it on the line and call that shit out, eh?

    ..
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
If you want to discuss it, turn up at the next meet up in Melbourne.
Otherwise, stop making snide bullshit innuendo.

  110. bespoke says:

You want to offer an opinion on Faulty’s threats?
    OK?
    Or not OK?

Well, for the reasons mentioned above, that ain’t going to happen.
    Also, I don’t get parole until 2022.
Not entirely sure why people on a blog need to meet in person to exchange ideas.
But, you know, given that there are some real nutcases on here, I might just sit the next drinks party out.

Well, he was #1, which doesn’t prove he’ll do well, but has to be a serious indication. Wonder if I’ll actually see the Doggies in the flesh in 2021? If Premier Phlegm has his way, probably not.

But after your performance on here today and the snide shit you have deployed, I can tell you that in my case, that is no longer the case.
Care to comment further about your assumptions about my response to the incident on 20th of September?

You posted five separate times in the two hours subsequent to the threat by Faulty.
    One within five minutes.
All about Scotch eggs and tractors.
Not a word to denounce him.
    It’s not too late.

    You’re wrong.
    About a lot of things.
When I prove you wrong on this are you going to apologise and withdraw now near 15 hours of paranoid, snide bullshit?
Because without that assurance you can go hang.
    I’m not your fucking puppet.

Yet Trump continues to try to overturn the election at the expense of our democracy.

    The emperor has no clothes.

Republican electeds who continue to humor him have no spines.

  127. Struth says:

    Fuck me swinging.
Frank, you certainly have got your hand on it.
Dreaming up all sorts of conspiracy theories.
Bespoke thinks he remembers something about something that someone said somewhere about something though he’s not quite sure….
Since he is able to go back and repost any comment I have made here since the early nineties, and often does, it shouldn’t be too hard for any of you to put up or shut up.
You guys scoff at conspiracy theorists, but take a fucking look at yourselves!!

Methinks you like it when I leave for a little while as you can slowly pile the little white lies one upon another to build up a false narrative you wish to push.
But Frank, look back at only the last few comments you have made.
    Pitiful stuff.
I haven’t scrolled back far, but I can imagine. You can’t get me on anything so you have to make shit up and attribute other’s comments to me.
    Sad.
Maybe MV and Myself are secret operatives of the society of political grifters and decided to act like total spivs by disobeying tyrannical socialist government and attend out local cenotaph to practice what we do every year.
    Honour our war dead.
    Not the government’s war dead.
    Ours.
This, in the illogical mind of a fuckwit, is called a political protest.
    How dare we………………….
MV is his own man, and I’m mine.
Anyone who has been here on this blog for more than five minutes knows MV and myself have had all in brawls in the past but I agree with some things he says and not others.
    I don’t chose sides, I take positions.
This is a concept you can’t seem to grasp Franky poo, as for you it’s all about personality.
You know, who’s side are you on.
I’m on nobody’s side. I either agree or disagree with a position.
    As I did with MV.
Think about your take on me agreeing with some things MV says, even considering I have argued with him many times.
Apparently that puts me on the wrong side of things for agreeing with anything he says, according to you.
That’s teenage girly shit, you should be embarrassed.
What are you here for, Mr 24/7?
    Really, what’s the point?
What is the point of your existence?
I don’t know for sure, but you sure are acting like a member of the Liberal party.
One of the wets trying to discredit true Conservatives and rid them from holding hard and fast conservative values and forcefully putting them forward.
Maybe you are not, but if not, why do you spend your entire life here?
Why do I, and a few others live inside your head so much?
If you aren’t a sad little LNP schmuck, then seek help.
Actually, if you are, seek help anyway.

If I only gave two fucks, I’d hang about for the answer.
