    Yes.
But the Obama #resistance violent protests were far more damaging to democracy, the fact that they could maintain the rage for 4 years after hilarity lost says they were highly organised.

Will we ever see democracy in the US again?.
How long before the left do it here?

  2. stackja

Leftists are different from others. They without fault!

  3. mh

    Aboriginal terrorists, too!

We need to silence the Aboriginals!

There is nothing to be gained in pointing out leftist hypocrisy. Conservatives have been doing that for decades and while accurate, it has been rhetorically useless. The left simply don’t care. The real JC posted a great explanation of how that works a few posts back. The left gonna left.

Once again, the relatively mild chaos in the Capitol Building last week was entirely justified. The people had exhausted every legal and political remedy and were being ignored by the establishment.

But it is sad that watching the video makes me nostalgic for more innocent times even taking in the wild scenes. Bob Brown and Kim Beazley appear quite moderate these days.

I guess this has been discussed, but only just seen it

Rasmussen: Trump’s Approval Rating Rises After DC Protests

The Rasmussen poll, one of the most accurate polls of the 2020 election, finds President Trump’s approval is actually rising after Wednesday‘s protests.

As Democrats move to impeachment and some establishment Republicans call for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump, the poll finds 48% approve of the President’s job performance.

A source close to the polling firm tells Newsmax that the rolling survey saw Trump’s approval soar to 51% on Thursday night.

Trump’s approval has been up overall, jumping from 45% just before Christmas.

“Americans are disgusted that cities burned for months and Washington and the media did nothing,” our source says, “But they still like Trump.”

I went looking for that video of the Parliament House riot in 1996 and only found one link on Youtube. The one you found at “Climate Madness””

Why have all the other links to the 1996 Parliament House riot been deleted?? I think it is an ABC video.

“Will we ever see democracy in the US again?.

Democracy in the USA is finished…finito, kaput, gonski. There will never be another GOP President again.

Here in Oz? We already have a uniparty ruling us here in Australia. When you have scum like my local member, Dave Sharma, supporting Twitter’s ban of Trump, it’s clearly already happening here.

  9. Joanna Smythe

Just watching the cricket and listening to the relaxed commentary, you really could forget all this crap is going on in the world. The authorities will have to do something about this very quickly. The plan is to keep us wound up and terrified all day and every day. This relaxing cricket is not a good look for them.

    Kim Beazley appear quite moderate

He wasn’t being moderate when shouting
    “…it hates workers.
    It hates students.
    It hates aboriginals.
It hates women who want to be in the workforce”.

Winding up a mob with intemperate language.
Now where have I seen that accusation recently?

They do it very, very well….but only because they have the institutions behind them. The scum in the MSM aren’t interested in pointing out the double standards and holding them to account. They get away with it and they are quite brazen about it because they’re protected.

  12. Scott Osmond

That was different because SHUT UP! When they do it it’s free speech, freedom of assembly and legitimate protest. When we do it it’s hate speech, white supremacy even when more than half the group are from multiple ethnicities or terrorism. At some point people on the right have to understand and except that there is no way to talk to the left because they aren’t rational or deal in good faith.

There is nothing to be gained in pointing out leftist hypocrisy. Conservatives have been doing that for decades and while accurate, it has been rhetorically useless. The left simply don’t care.

Identifying hypocrisy will only work if the individual has the capacity to experience guilt and shame. In theory, it is the latter that ‘corrects’ the identified behaviour (shame that one has transgressed the accepted and known norms of the community one wishes to remain a part of).

If the ability to experience and acknowledge guilt or shame is absent, the first part of the action – the identification of the transgression (hypocrisy) – becomes redundant.

When one is so cognitively programmed to believe that, put very simply: ‘The end justifies the means;’ that the possession of righteousness grants an unimpeachable moral standing to behave however is necessary to remain on the path, guilt and shame only exist when one deviates from the path and is rejected by the righteous community.

Hypocrisy then, simply does not exist in the mind of such an individual. How can you feel guilt or shame about a behaviour that does not exist?

Yet we persist with the redundancy of identifying hypocrisy, despite decades of clear evidence that our public identifications very rarely (never?) result in the modification of such identified behaviour.

    Why?
Who are we trying to convince?

If the left didn’t have double standards they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

Who could have forgotten the union-led insurrection of 1996 and the complicity of the Australian media.

  17. Grip

    The empty morality of Whataboutism.

The Union/ Labor reaction in 1996 was wrong and pointless and a massive backfire electorally and for future union power. Who really tries to argue otherwise?

Similarly, the GOP deserves to be electorally punished for the next few cycles for endorsing an authoritarian liar as President who tried to keep his job by inciting insurrection.

This is not hard, except when you won’t admit that you’re the victims of RW propaganda universe that has been running a religiously tinged scare campaign for years that centrism is actually socialism and not just to be hated, but is evil incarnate.

  18. C.L.

I always quite fancied Angela Pearman and wondered what became of her.

She was called to the bar in 1996 – same year as the ACTU insurrection.

    Still got the lovely hair:

Every leftist in the country at the time.

No no. The Biden Democrats colluded with and paid Kremlin document forgers, lied to a FISA court, illegally spied on their opponent, incited a murder rampage across the United States for several months that has left hundreds dead and then rigged swing-state ballots to ‘win’ the election.

I should also add that the Capitol was physically invaded by Democrat insurrectionists during the Kavanaugh hearing. Biden also tried to corrupt the Supreme Court using a deranged hooker to testify against the nominee.

  21. JC

Biden also tried to corrupt the Supreme Court

    The Kid Sniffer? Really?

using a deranged hooker to testify against the nominee.

    Who was that?

A friend of mine told be 2 years after that they had close up security footage of those involved in the violence and knew the names of each. None were charged to the full extent of the law. It’s one rule for them amd everyone else can go quarantine themselves.

  29. Watch Your Back

Actually, President did not ‘incite insurrection’ a time all. The left wing ‘fact checker’ Snopes has ruled this assertion as false. I checked Mr Trump’s speech myself. He at no point says anything about breaking into the Capitol, nor does he advocate violence. In fact he asks for peaceful protest.

Just because the Democrats were quick to get their Talking Points out, doesn’t mean it’s true.
