Disgraced Plame Affair coward Dick Armitage returns

THE great Christopher Hitchens – arguably the last of the intellectually formidable (and consistent) men of the left – kneecapped this dishonest scoundrel in 2006. Evidently, it has taken fully 15 years for the habitual troop-endangering tattletale to live it down. Armitage hid in a corner while the innocent Scooter Libby took the fall on a concocted process charge. By the way, I remain in awe of the heavy lifting Hitchens did to utterly sweep aside the media’s false orthodoxy on fraud Joe Wilson and the Niger yellowcake affair. He is sorely missed. He would have eviscerated the Democrat criminals behind the Russia Hoax – including Joe Biden.

Indeed he would. You would pay to see it.

If Maher reckons George Bush is dumb, he will have a field day with Biden. Surely.

    Hollywood loves rewriting history.
In the Naomi Watts movie Fair Game, Dick Armitage isn’t even mentioned.
In the more recent recent Vice, Dick Cheney actually instructed Scooter to blow her cover.

  4. feelthebern says:

They even made a movie “The Report” to rewrite history that Dianne Feinstein didn’t know about the CIA torture programs even though she either chaired or co-chaired the oversight committee responsible for it.

Another thing wikileaks blew wide open.
& her & the DNC were well aware of everything the CIA was doing.

Hitchens would have had fun with AOC, rather, at her expense.

I miss Christopher Hitchens…we so desperately need his ruthless intellect and commentary. Imagine his takedowns of Biden and AOC. Much as I like his brother Peter, Peter lacks both the chutzpah and the humour of his late brother.

  7. Ben says:

    His books are sensational too.

I remember the great Christopher Hitchens taking down that grub Squalid Aly on Q&A about ten or eleven years ago. Hitchens called the grub the “artful dodger” for his obfuscation, deflection and out right refusal to give a straight answer on Islaaaaaaaam and homosexuality.

a salutary reminder that once upon a time a person could have a broadly leftist perspective and that you would welcome their input – even if ultimately unpersuaded. Where has the intelligent Left gone?

    @ tombell-

‘Intelligent Leftists’ were the ones who set about the task of dismantling the Western world they hated, yet appreciated for the freedoms it extended them.

Once their work was effectively done, they were either drowned out and chased out by the lumpenprole ideologues you now see calling the shi
ots, or found that their ‘principled’ Leftism was not actually leftism at all, but merely a reaction to the excesses of the people holding power.

When you find that both your fellow travellers and ostensible Class Enemies alike behave exactly the same way when they are in charge, what can you do?

Most of the ‘intelligent Leftists’ are now by default deplorable alt-righters, like the rest of us. And if they aren’t they will be soon enough…

Reminder: These were the two tweets that twitter decided were “incitement of violence”:

“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

These are also the two tweets that Richard Armitage thinks makes you a terrorist. People on the right in USA should be very very affraid, when this is how the left twist words, and then soon Trump and his ilk will be off to the Galuag.

I disagree. The people who did what you describe may well be cunning/ruthless/ successful and most definitely of the Left but they are not the people I’m referring to. I grew up with most of my Labor friends committed to a free market based economy and minimal government control – but yeah, with some tweaks which is probably why we had our disagreements. But they didn’t seek to ban or silence me nor I them. Nor have they morphed into what you describe. No doubt a large chunk of the Left has now been permanently hijacked by the people you refer to and it is generally beyond redemption.

It may very well be that your friends were not truly leftists at all, but very liberal in their perceptions of liberalism.

When the Labor and Liberal parties alike were broad churches, they were welcome on their pro-individual and pro-worker sides.

At least until the Communists exerted enough power to force anyone not as committed as them out.

As I said, you and your friends, for all your relative disagreements are very much on the same side of the fence these days. And not by any of your own choices. I suspect if any of them are still clinging to Party because of old loyalties, then they may well be becoming thoroughly heartsick at what their movement has become.

Mark Latham and Peter Baldwin being standout examples.
