Unlike Nicola Gobbo, this one was assassinated.
I’m less interested at this point in VicPol’s habit of rigging prosecutions than I am in the DPP’s unwillingness to charge senior police officers for their crimes. By kicking the can down the road to a “special investigator,” Royal Commissioner Margaret McMurdo bolstered the illusion that the question of whether or not police committed offences is a head-scratcher rather than a no-brainer.
Heard that one.
And he was shot to death.
Did someone snitch?
Was he killed because he was a police informer?
that’s a ‘yes’, then.
If he wasn’t, on what planet would they not say so?
On the special investigator, no doubt they’ll follow the Jennifer Coate model of investigation.
Where can I invest in whitewash suppliers?
Dan is the Man. The buck stops with him. On this and the mishandled virus hotels and towers.
Cold question: Is McMurdo Sound?
I dunno, but he’s sure on ice…
Any resemblance between Victoria Police and a law enforcement body is pure coincidence…
One rule for Dictator Dan and his mates (including VicPol), another for everyone else.
I see what you did there Bruce and Rex – boom tish…
Any resemblance between Victoria Police and a law enforcement body is pure coincidence…
Onlynif they’re.both floating face-down in the Yarra…. 😉
Well, I suppose injustice must not only be done, but injustice must be seen to be done.
Once it is established that this kind of corruption is not only tolerated but unchallenged in Victoria then people will know not to push it.
In a Victorian utopia it will not be necessary to go through these legal asseverations of the divine right of crims. Not only will it not be challenged, but no one would want to fall foul of it. More binding than anyt written law, and never even mentioned.
Forget it Jake, it’s Victoriatown.
Just add it to the list.
We’ve asked everyone but they all said it was the guy who ok’d the covid security check
Let’s hear from that fat pr!ck, Luke Cornelius. He will have a pithy line to explain it away.
The optics are not good.
VICTORIA,
perpetually in the news for all the WRONG reasons.
Having seen how the US does elections Dan has figured the next state one will be chickenfeed. Suck it up Viktorians*, dictator for life.
* Yes it literally is run as a mini-Russian state now. Lawless corrupt leaders, mafia cops, people falling from windows and other accidents, powerful oligarchs, universal spying, random punishments and incarcerations of proletariat with no reference to law etc. We need a wall.
I thought that was a given, quite a while back.
I’ve just completed a 4-year correspondence preliminary course in understanding special investigations and, despite my teachers’ best efforts to conceal the definition, i think I have it:
Special investigation: A search for, and examination of, the particulars of a matter in an attempt to obscure the facts, especially where a motive, cause, or culprit needs to remain hidden.
“By kicking the can down the road to a “special investigator” …
With respect, C.L., I think the point is that McMurdo has no authority to lay charges and prosecute, only to refer findings to a prosecutor. Given the conflicted (to say the least) position of the DPP, a special prosecutor is the appropriate party to assess McMurdo’s findings and then to charge and prosecute as appropriate.
Obviously that only works if the special prosecutor is someone of real integrity and courage, and of course has no substantial links to the Victorian legal system. I nominate Margaret Cuneen SC for the job.
Not sure that McMurdo is sound – she must have ALP links as she was part of the bullying clique that forced Tim Carmody to resign from the post of Queensland Chief Justice for the high crime of being appointed by the LNP.
Meanwhile, is there any intelligence on how the victims of state school teacher Vincent Reynolds fared in suing the Victorian government for their decades of failing to take action against him?

You’re right, Sheriff. But not even McMurdo could produce a whitewash (or is the word redwash?) of Coate proportions.
Old Lefty interesting
A 32 year career, protected by the state government.
Nah…surely it was Cardinal George Pell that done it!
It all sounds like part of a Labor Patton of gross maladministration to me.
Melbourne gangland lawyer Joe Acquaro gave police information on former client
Victoria police says it never registered the murdered lawyer as an informant after a court reveals his role
Woah, too slimy for Vicpol to register, but they still used him.
