Cricket Australia will also insist that players and crowds endure recently invented mumbo-jumbo rituals:
A barefoot circle, Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony will also take place before some games, with CA leading the initiative backed by the clubs…
“When you are a business operating under a Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, it does come with responsibility and accountability to lead on key reconciliation issues,” [Cricket Australia’s diversity and inclusion manager Adam Cassidy told AAP].
“In an ideal world what we’re trying to do is create a safe and inclusive environment for everybody.”
You thought it was cricket. No no. It’s “a business operating under a Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan.”
Hadley gave it a 8 mins serve this morning.
Daily Tele not allowing comments on below story.
BBL10: Cricket Australia drops Australia Day for BBL games on January 26
Cricket fans will notice a big change to the BBL bonanza planned for Australia Day — one Cricket Australia hopes will make the game more inclusive.
Actually it was not a barefoot circle , it was a square and we wonder why we lost .
Aluminum bat out of the ground.
But will all participants be wearing masks and observing safe distancing?
That is the most important information needed to be known.
Strap in folks.
With the Dumocrats in office in the US this lefty nonsense is about to accelerate.
I haven’t followed cricket during its gay era.
I did, however, channel-flip on to some bloke the other night who I took to be the Australia captain.(?) He sounded absolutely ecstatic to have lost to India. He literally couldn’t stop praising them for beating Australia.
I have no idea who the commentators were. One of them referred to a “top batter.” That’s what dear Mum would make for our fish on Fridays if she had the time.
And they’re now playing with baseball bats? Mmkay.
Goodbye CA, it was fun when it was just a sport.
Can anyone say ‘Rugby Australia’?
Honestly, how stupid are these people. Do they really not see that activists have far reaching agenda but they simply can’t ask for all of it at once. So they go piecemeal. After the first time the organisation knuckles under the activists are not satiated. Their appetites are whetted. And having already set their own precedent it is harder for the organisation to say no next time, and the activists will just keep going.
If they had just said “Nah. Fuck off. People like it.” and stuck to that, the activists would have to move on while the fans would see that CA was keeping politics out.
Besides, why would anyone support the Australian team if, at the same time, they are being told to be ashamed of Australia.
except everyone to the right of communists. it’s disturbing how intersectionality has migrated out of universities into the government and into the boardroom
So cricket intends to follow rugby down the memory hole. Really inclusive of cricket to give Australia the finger on Australia Day I’m sure that will increase crowds!
No doubt our gifted cricket writer Gideon Haigh will give a staunch defence of a traditional understanding of Australia Day while excoriating PC and woke practices that detract from the actual cricket being played. Not likely, matey!
Then I shall drop cricket, in all its forms, from my television set.
Tennis, then rugby, now cricket.
I think I’ll give the olympics a miss too.
Cricket Australia should stick to cricket. Or maybe not.
Remember when politics and sport weren’t supposed to mix?
Have you self-flagellated today?
If CA didn’t drop Australia Day crowds at games on 26 January wouldn’t be safe?
Is that really what Adam Cassidy is saying?
He does Koori-up well, though.
No. Did the next best thing – cleaned the bathrooms. 😃
And so the politicisation of everything continues unabated.
I think most of the Australian public will be far from impressed with the woke CA.
A great pity that CA doesn’t pay more attention to the declining Australian team than politics.
What in the name of all things is a ” Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan”??????
How long before we have racial quotas for our cricket team, a la South Africa?
Gillespie may have to make a come back as the token Koori.
The crowd should immediately spring to their feet and turn their backs on these charades.
There’s that word again.
Safe from what exactly?
Didn’t Scomo change the words of the National Anthem so that Abos could feel “safe” and “included”?
How’s that working out?
Yes, I suspect that booing would see the ‘offender’ turfed out.
The more they pander to the woke, the more I tune out.
I used to watch a lot of sport. No more. I realised that a lot of sportsmen/women/thingies are paid a helluva lot of $$$ and treated like queens only to act like the spoilt primma donnas that they are.
Now this shit! Not for me.
Wokeism is now a religion.
I’m a realist. I sincerely hope this goes down like a lead balloon and CA loses audience.
Didn’t Scomo change the words of the National Anthem so that Abos could feel “safe” and “included”?
How’s that working out?
Give them an inch and they will take a mile.
ScoMo doesn’t understand this.
I am hoping the Australian cricket teams don’t win another match all year. Now that Biden has been inaugurated the left wing nuttery will be in full force.
Winning.
Winning just reinforces colonial stereotypes. Even when done by colonials.
If they were serious about expanding the game, they would ban the position of diversity and inclusion manager. Diversity is achieved by simply allowing everyone to play.
All this diversity bullshit just alienates people. By fuck it pisses me off.
You are a very funny bear, Humphrey. You should have your own TV show. Oh wait …
One thing rarely if ever cited as an objection to occult “smoking ceremonies” and the like is the Christian/spiritual one.
I do not seek or accept ‘blessings’ or ‘cleansings’ from any but consecrated hands.
If an individual’s voluntary subjection to religious conversion therapy is an affront to all homosexuals, compulsory participation in a heathen religious ritual is a far more egregious affront and should also be unlawful.
You can bet London to a brick on that.
No doubt there will be gangs of swarthy “Inclusion Monitors” roaming the boundaries and many high powered zoom cameras crowd watching from a hidden bunker in the bowels of the grounds.
All this diversity bullshit just alienates people. By fuck it pisses me off.
One of the few TV programs I watch is marred by a Commonwealth Bank ad that regularly appears on it spruiking their sponsorship of girls’ cricket teams. It features an Indian girl executing a pull shot while the voice over talks about “just missing windscreens but smashing the glass ceiling.” The poor things just want to play cricket but they’ve been portrayed as foot soldiers in the culture war by a corporate giant for its own profit. Once upon a time that was deemed child exploitation.
Cricket Australia is now an anti-Christian, animist political organisation — sort of like a Dalai Lama fan club without the fans (only cricket fans being captive against their will) that prays to Karl Max.
Just like they dropped their teams complaint about the Indians being racist towards Andy Symonds…
One thing rarely if ever cited as an objection to occult “smoking ceremonies” and the like is the Christian/spiritual one.
I suspect the barefoot circle is not a “safe and inclusive environment” for Marnus Labuschagne.
I always get the feeling that Western traditions and beliefs are held to a secular standard, but Aboriginal ideas are imbued with magic.
We all have the right to dispute religious dogma, and a person who claims to have had a vision of Jesus who told them to do something or other would have that vision treated as a psychological phenomenon. There are no miracles in law.
But when Aborigines claim magical connections with land, dreamtime insights or such then it must be treated as true.
And now of course we have Bruce Pascoe trying to create a new mythology lie along the lines of the movie Black Panther which will be pounded into kids heads until they accept it too.
Don’t mention the Magic N word.
Bruce Pascoe There’s an idea. Can he open?
If CA are serious about their “stretch plan” they need to: Acknowledge cricket is a product of Western Imperialism.
Vest their lands (MCG, SCG etc..) in indigenous trusts to allow for, say, tent cities at each of these locations.
But when Aborigines claim magical connections with land, dreamtime insights or such then it must be treated as true.
The latest truth that must be accepted on pain of being denounced as a racist is that aborigines did not migrate here via a land bridge from somewhere in south Asia but sprang sui generis from the dust of the earth as the rainbow serpent slithered by…or something.
Hence “always was, always will be.”
For Cats not living in the former State of Western Australia or is that Western Former States of Australia Sneakers is a bit upset with tent cities.
Well said that Lad.
Didn’t we point the big finger at South Africa for that?
I am going to vent my spleen on CA advertisers … support CA and NO support from me!
Ah … the good old days.
.and only two fieldspersons outside the circle, first 15 overs.
I stopped bothering to watch cricket about 12 months ago.
This merely confirms that I made the right decision.
They’re a waste of space.
Thanks, CL. I’ll pop that in the Remembery for when some fence sitting ditherer tells me “where’s the harm?”. It’s as offensive as casting spells while crouching in a pentagram.
No thanks.
The punishment for non-participation can’t be as bad as what was meted out to the guys in Daniel 3:16-18. I’ll probably just get side-eye with a dash of “othering”.
It’s as offensive as casting spells while crouching in a pentagram.
Not to mention – quite seriously, he wheezed – that smoke is an asthma trigger.
In Doug Walters’ day the smoking ceremonies were in the dressing room.
The haka was amusingly tolerable as ritual, but ‘acknowledgement of country’ is not. I was born here, for Christ’s sake. So were my parents and grandparents. I owe no acknowledgement to a primitive culture that died out more than a hundred years ago.
ALPBC radio commentary team totally devoid of trannies and blind people this year.
Well, that’s it. No more cricket for me. I stopped watching all cricket for almost a decade (from around 2010 until recently) and following the recent test capitulation (which I had the misfortune to witness), this is the final straw.
Anyone who goes to the games should take a leaf out of the Millwall fans’ handbook (hint: they recently attracted widespread opprobrium for “expressing their displeasure” during a black imbeciles matter ceremony held by the players before a match).
Gotta love Millwall fans – they also had the good sense to go full Ecky Thump on the bookstore proprietor in an episode of Back Books.
Fox is attempting to take up the slack by employing a commentary team consisting of people with severe brain damage.
Isn’t it that thing that David Boon used to do, with the crowd behind him following along?
cuckoo – that was Mervyn Hughes.
Keith Windschuttle pointed out many years ago, if they were always here then could not be same species, so could not reproduce with whitey.

He can’t even think: “in an ideal world” all this BS would be unnecessary.
I stopped watching the cricket when women commentators started having their 2 bobs worth.
He can’t even think…
Yes, well…it’s not generally a requirement for sports administrators.
Cricket Australia..can’t bat, can’t bowl…what good are they?
I’ve cancelled cricket. Anybody else?
I loved at the opening of the Adelaide test how the Kaurna welcome to country ended with the host speaking Yolgnu mata dialect from North Eastern Arnhem land. Talk about fake.
Noddy-here is a list of CA’s commercial sponsors-looks like the missus will be shopping at Coles for now on
https://www.cricketaustralia.com.au/about/partners/commercial
Time for The 12th Man

Or better still, spring to their feet, drop their dacks and give them a brown eye. That’d learn ‘em.
They can stick it up their arse!
It’s their tournament.
They could call it the Teddybears’ Picnic if they wanted.
It has nothing to do with Scomo.
Pollies should keep their noses out of sport.
Another reason sportzball must die.
Just Interested

I’ve cancelled cricket. Anybody else?
Yes, it’s stumps here, JI.
CA had its chance. Instead of 20 over beach cricket, which fed Test cricket with infallible skills for early dismissals and totals <100, we were waiting for Leaping from High Rise Hotel Windows (Adelaide looked very promising when it incorporated a hotel into its grandstand). It was a must, Jim. They blew it. And lest we forget, one burble of a Kakadu didge at Adelaide should have provoked carnage with every Boandik, Naggaringjeri and Ngarka enough to put Ernie's Smoking Pty Ltd out forever.
Then came the sandpaper ball-polishing competition. Bunnings had it all, wet and dry, handy in Brisbane, but no, low contrast white no. 80 for in-pocket work followed by red camo no. 40 outside on the ball. And then the whining from WAC, "no pockets to do that". Jim asks a question of Karen and gets back a 10 minute lecture about tannin tanning, just in case we think she knows nothing about anything.
Enough.
Is there still an Australian Cricket team? I thought it had been disbanded and replaced by the colourfull tippy run one day thing . Should be the Australian Cricket Bored .
On tilt ,dont knock welcome to country smoking ceremonies conducted by white indigenius fat people its a very ancient ceremony , goes back to the 1980s ,the inventors are still alive .
where’s the equity?? not seeing much equity, you know equality of outcome
This is cancel culture in full motion.
As said above once they make this step, they can’t go back with out the leftists frothing at the mouth.
Now that they have had an impact they will be back with more and more, just like the AFL when have practically made every round into some bizarre socialist cause circle jerk.
I went to an ODI on Australia day about 10 years ago. Good times. Who wants to bet australian flags will soon be banned.
“Safe.”
Mentioning Australia Day, on Australia Day: Unsafe.
30000 people spreading COVID and burning down buildings: Safe.
Gotta love Millwall fans – they also had the good sense to go full Ecky Thump on the bookstore proprietor in an episode of Back Books.

Fans could start wearing red shirts and doing the traditional Pom response to uppity natives.
Imagine 100 punters miming this action.
And dont whine Wang, its traditional.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJMbxZ1k9NQ
I believe so Fred, I think “welcome to country” was an Ernie Dingo invention. My contacts in a genuine tribal part of Australia assure me its bullsh*t.
wal1957 the real reason that you don’t watch sport is that there is none to watch.
There are many overpriced and overpaid actors pretending it is sport.
Paying people to dress up as advertising boards is NOT sport.
And as for inclusion, does that mean that CA will allow footballers, tennis players, base ballers, ice skaters etcetera etcetera to play at the same time in the same arena?
My husband and I discontinued our SCG membership a few years back because of the appearance of betting machines in Members & the general “razzamatazz” of back of viewing stands. I also objected to the expansion of the “pink” day into the “pink Test” & the quite coercive tactics to enforce contributions.
All we wanted was to join the throng competing in a queue for the member seats behind the wicket in the Noble Stand & to enjoy the Sydney test, with binoculars for close-ups, listening to favourite commentators with ear phones, & enjoying a wine/beer and hot ships! Magic!
But this Mecca just deteriorated over the years with the advent of “woke” concepts and commercialisation. I believe our side even “took the knee” before the last Test!
Just can’t believe that Cricket Australia could contemplate cancelling Australia Day. Bloody Cricket Australia! Bradman would turn in his grave.
But our cancellation of our membership would have nil effect, as there are so many to take our place. Naming & shaming is a better way to go.
The whites have to answer for the aboriginals who were scalded by boiling water, the never knew how to boil water before the whites came . One benefit ,thet learned how to drink tea from the whites .
This is the inevitable result of employing a ‘diversity and inclusion’ person in the first place, I’m just surprised it’s a chap…
It’s Salami tactics. Piece by piece. Rugby, Cricket, AFL. NRL is pretty bad. Netball ffs has an abo round. I’m waiting for the pouffes on parade round to start in the AWFL
Thank you Kraka.
Very nice of CA to supply the list – some there I don’t like so will reinforce with a letter.
If they receive a few letters of disgust with their support then they might pull their heads in!
These firms spend $millions on publicity to enhance their public image so a ‘kick in the balls’ (or hip pocket nerve) might give them something else to think about! 🙂
It’s not cricket!
Thing that amazes me is no-one in Cricket Australia (why has every sporting body in the country adopted the MBA approved branding?) has figured out that barefoot is no different to blackface.
This lunacy was endorsed by a poll of the Boxing Day Test attendees wasn’t it?
Just to stretch a point. S R A P. Shit Run Anachronistic Ploy.
First up, let me congratulate you, CA, on the many years of administration and promotion of Australia’s predominate international sport. Your support of the emergence from test cricket to ODI and T20 at all levels and for both genders is commendable.
Up until today, I have viewed and keep abreast of all forms of the cricket. I have done so since listening to the tied test between Australia and the West Indies, with my Grand-Father, in 1960 when I was 12yo. I even enjoy watching replays of all forms of cricket involving Australia, even the losses.
Today I became aware of your latest edict. It being, that the upcoming cricket matches scheduled on or around Australia Day, 26Jan, will not include any reference to Australia Day. Apparently you, as a spineless lot of brain washed and socially engineered of (so called) executives , have succumbed to the ramblings of the loud mouthed minority.
Please also note that the newly revised lyrics to our national anthem have regrettably been change to ONE; replacing young. Thanks for showing and promoting division in your decision to advocate some sort of division instead of oneness.
As an indigenous Australian, I originated and occupy here, I now find myself in a position where I no longer wish to watch any cricket matches played in Australia or involving Australian teams. The kneeling in support of the radical BLM movement (not of Oz origin) was bad enough. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back, so as to speak.
On Australia Day, I will be raising my Australian flag and proud to do so. This will be irrespective of my heritage or skin colour.
In short, you, Cricket Australia, are a disgrace.
From Rex Mango at 12:37 am:
That’s a couple of very apt observations there Rex Mango.
The players, multi millionaire geniuses that they are, are completely incurious of the legitimacy of these hilarious claims to entitlement by the least productive element of society, and oblivious to the fact they will be the mugs paying for the extortion racket in exchange for “Gimmee a durrie ya white c…”. With a bit of luck they will destroy the game – their meal ticket – within the next decade. They can then concentrate on playing with their little mobile phones for fun and fitness full time.
Little do they know the 682,314 year old “culture” continues the practice of intra family ugly, evil abuse of the little ones unabated.
I used love cricket, served rugby union intensively all my life, supported Australian teams unquestioningly but all that has been taken from me by smart young things bowing down enthusiastically to bludging shonks and urgers. They get nothing from me now.
Professional sports people hate you.
Play sport yes, but don’t watch the big leagues.
Marc Webber’s wife said he was a “feminist”.
Excuse me, but why does our own Ricky Bobby with a pretty blonde actress wife need to be a “feminist”? She’s successful on her own and our only female race driver decided to do porn over driving.
Nothing would be better than successful sporting leagues in each suburb and town, and thousands of unemployed professional athletes.
Don’t watch them, they’re only going to lecture you about your freedom being an inconvenience for their attractive, stupid liberal arts girlfriend or dumb toyboy greens voter.
Betting scandals in recent years suggest that you might actually be correct.
There is a good chance a lot of NRL and international cricket matches are actually rigged/thrown.
A few years ago , a group of volunteers from our town , working on a building in Halls Creek WA was told by the Christian aboriginal elders up there , never to take part in a smoking ceremony .Most people do not know the significance and ramifications of this occult ceremony on their lives .
