“Why Vaccine Passports Equal Slavery Forever”

Naomi Wolf!

AND NOW THIS AS WELL: From CNN “Expert” – Government should give you freedom only if you get the COVID vaccine

This is what Naomi Wolf is worrying about.

CNN host Chris Cuomo interviewed George Washington University Public Health Policy Professor Laura Wen. The interview was most illuminating, and it looks like she hopes the current administration will maximize connections between vaccination status to the resumption of life in a post-pandemic world.

It’s clear to them that the vaccine is the ticket to pre-pandemic life….and the window to do that is really narrowing. You were mentioning, Chris, about how all these states were reopening. They are reopening at 100 percent….and we have a very narrow window to tie reopening policy to vaccination status.

Because, otherwise, if everything is reopen, then what’s the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine? So that’s why I think the CDC and the Biden administration needs to come out a lot bolder and say, “If you’re vaccinated, you can do all these things…here’s all these freedoms that you have.” Because, otherwise, people are going to go out and enjoy those freedoms anyway.” [emphasis added]

IT IS BECOMING MORE OF AN ISSUE: As it should be.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Fire Fauci and ban vaccine mandate and passport
In a double-barreled blast at the coronavirus crisis, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene today offered bills to ban COVID-19 vaccination mandates such as those called for in vaccine “passport” proposals and to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci.(Snip)In the Republican lawmaker’s “We Will Not Comply” proposal, Greene would bar federal funding to any business or school that requires a vaccination or a mask. She said that vaccinations can be discriminatory against those who choose not to receive them, including those who cite religious objections.(Snip)The “Fire Fauci” legislation would cut the doctor’s pay to zero until a replacement is approved. He currently is the top paid federal worker at $434,312.

  2. STJOHNOFGRAFTON says:

These VAXXPORTS are discriminatory. People who have better imunity via alternative medication regimes based on Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin should also be medically entitled to a freedom green tick. But anyway, this vaccination passport meme is another money spinning crock produced by the corrupt, greedy, big pharma, vaccination industry whisperers . And also, forget shonky PCR testing, another proven as bogus, & costly analytical test. The best indicator of disease IS symptoms. The best, cheapest and most effective analytical tool for public monitoring is the hand held infra- red thermometer pointed at the forehead. This method was used years ago to screen for SARS at public places like airports and other public venues It is also used routinely in hospitals and other medical facilities today. Government bureacrats are narrow minded & greedy. They want totalitarian control of people but wont let go of the idea that gene therapy medical experimentation is the only way to achieve their goal. The payola from the pharmaceutical industry is too addictive and swamps any altruistic motives they may have as public servants.

  8. Nob says:

Companies will probably require vaccination passports for certain jobs.

Offshore rig workers and other travelers to West and Central Africa already require them.

Sure some on the spot method like the forehead temperature sensor would work , and be less fakeable, but it doesn’t appeal to corporate and government bureaucrats who like paperwork and records with themselves as gatekeepers. And a passport will be like legal protection for airlines and cruise lines.

However a vaccine will conflict with EU privacy regulations so I wonder what they’ll do about that

  9. Nob says:

    A vaccine passport that is.

  10. luke73 says:

    Ok…. flame on.

Not sure about the airplane, but they are required in many countries and checked at passport control. In other cases vaccinations are a condition for travel insurance.

  33. Chris M says:

You can still get infected after you’ve been vaccinated, it’s just heaps less likely.

Yes, can still get infected. No not necessarily ‘heaps less likely’ unfortunately. Emphitical data is not stacking up well, hundreds of fully vaxed people with two doses are still catching and some have died. Remember the “95% effective” claim was based on the results only 163 people out of the whole 30,000 study.

you can look at your Vaccionation History going back to 1990

Mine says since 1996 but it is blank despite me having at least two since then through local doctors. Ah well never mind.

The government doesn’t “give people their rights and freedoms,” they are innate, inalienable. And the Australian Constitution assumes the same fact without actually delineating the rights. That’s how totalitarian these power-mad narcissists have become.

Llama if you do a bit of a dive into Bible prophecy you can see the big picture of how it all ends. Everyone is different but personally not worried at all, just a bit frustrated with the restrictions particularly travel but aware that many countries have it much worse so we in AU have much to be thankful for, apart from those Australians locked out of the country.

I suspect the interest in the virus thing will diminish once a larger issue kicks off and there are currently many potential geopolitical wicks near the flame aside from an event like a major natural disaster.

Catallaxians have managed to persuade themselves that the one and only case of irrational and self-fulfilling hysteria over a disease in history has been over COVID.

They’ve also persuaded themselves that the only rushed and politically motivated vaccine in history has been the COVID vaccine. All the others are hunky-dory. Like the ultra-scientific smallpox vaccine which was super-scientifically tested on the uber-scientific number of 1 person.

Let me make this perfectly clear.

You can have civilization or you can have your fear of disease being spread from person to person.

    You cannot have both.

You are comparing medical protocols from the 18th century to those of the 21st, not exactly fair. I don’t remember any political parameters to Jenner’s experiment.

  64. egg_ says:

  65. Figures says:

I don’t remember any political parameters to Jenner’s experiment.

The people were utterly petrified. Just like now.

Doctors told them smallpox had a 30 per cent mortality rate.

Of course, this was completely made up. In fact, doctors even conjured up a ready made excuse for the fact that observed smallpox “outbreaks” never matched the hysteria. They called it variola minor. What a ruse.

“Your Honour, vaccines must be forced because smallpox is so dangerous.”

    And then

“Oh that village just got the mild form which is why none of the 50 people who got sick died. Trust us. We’re doctors. We know what we’re doing.”

    They made it all up.

And why is such a comparison unfair Crossie? Are you admitting that the smallpox vaccine was a complete fraud?

  66. Figures says:

By the way Crossie, it isn’t unconstitutional.

Well, it is, but that’s not how the US Supreme Court has seen it since Jacobsen vs Massachusetts in 1905. The Court ruled that if government funded scientists were scared then the constitutional rights of the individual were null and void.

This ruling has not been superseded and remains precedent despite being used not just for forced vaccines but also for forced sterilization of “undesirables”.

I think “figures” is confused between a true vaccine which incorporates a small measure of the virus into your system to build resistance, and this latest nightmare which alters DNA and is irreversible. It may be a giant leap forward, or not. The point is that it is untested using standard interpretation of tested. It is rushed, the manufacturers have persuaded pollies to make them exempt from liability, so obviously they don’t trust their own product, and they don’t have “full” approval of the FDA or TGA to be used, only emergency approval. This is enough to tell me to wait and see what happens to you first, and If I have to be tested to see if I have the virus, I’d rather “tough” it out or use HCQ or Ivermectin etc.

  75. Figures says:

    I’m not confused at all.

This particular vaccine is based on just as much of an impossible lie as all the others.

Germs do not infect us on an *acute* basis therefore no vaccine of any kind can work – they’re a ridiculous answer to the wrong question.

200 years ago nobody knew that germs were ubiquitous and the presence of a particular germ in the body was normal regardless of whether people were sick.

When it was discovered that germs were ubiquitous the multi trillion (equivalent) dollar industry was too big, powerful and politically connected to admit it was all based on a lie.

  76. Figures says:

Matt, can you explain why we should consider being exposed to a few thousand virus particles will kill us but being exposed to a trillion virus particles is harmless?

  77. Chris M says:

  78. Matt says:

Sure figures – probably in the same way that being exposed to a little bit of arsenic (for example) might not be good for your health, but lots of many other elements might not be an issue. Infectivity and virulence are really the properties you are looking for.

  79. min says:

I had to have those in the 80s as did my g’daughter when she went to Tanzania a few years ago to work as doctor there. I believe if you have not had your shots and visit certain countries you are not allowed back into Australia .

But Matt, they’re the same virus particles – hence the (ridiculous) concept of “asymptomatic infection”.

    Try again.

And this time try one that isn’t completely stupid.

  83. Mango Man says:

Contrary to the author’s view, it would appear to me somewhat urgent to have certainty about vaccination and the broader society’s ability to move about with confidence. Many countries, including US especially, are having a hell of a time.

  84. Kneel says:

“Doctors told them smallpox had a 30 per cent mortality rate. “

This despite what George Washington did – he deliberately infected his army with smallpox in very small doses. Including himself. In fact, it nearly killed him. But 75+% of the army survived (some got very sick, of course), and were of course then immune, so no “surprises” when it really mattered.

And yet, several hundred years later, we shut borders, enforce socialist distancing and mandate masks for a disease considerable less dangerous than smallpox.

Some contrast, isn’t it? Washington risked his life in more than one way to protect freedom, and now we give up freedom to protect our lives from a disease that has so far killed less people than the road toll, less than obesity, less than diabetes.

“We have nothing to fear except fear itself.”
    “Fear is the mind-killer.”
Yet the “betters” we elect to rule us trade on little else than fear – fear of foreigners, fear of poverty, fear of sickness and death.
    Because they can.
    Because it works.
Because they condition us with it and for it.

Some sort of war may be the only thing that will snap us out of it, sad to say.

  85. Matt says:

“a disease that has so far killed less people than the road toll, less than obesity, less than diabetes”
Sure – if you are referring to Australia where we have effectively controlled the pandemic, notwithstanding the debacle in Victoria that led to 900 deaths.
But in the USA, 360,000 deaths in 2020 due to COVID, more than the estimated 300,000 attributable to obesity and 90,000 due to diabetes.

  86. Tailgunner says:

Many countries, including US especially, are having a hell of a time.

    AKA *actual* vermin.

Sorry figures, you’re not making any sense. Are you referring to viruses in general (which is what your ‘trillions’ implies) or COVID in particular?

You understand just fine Matt. People have the Hep B virus or the HPV or the varicella virus (for example) on them for months, years or even decades – zero symptoms. This isn’t my claim by the way. It comes from your lunatic health “expert” mates. You could test anybody on the planet for any virus using PCR and if you ran enough cycles 100% of the population would test positive for every “pathogenic” virus.

I’ll ask again (knowing with 100% certainty you’ll act obtuse).

How can I acquire immunity to a virus from a vaccine if harbouring the virus for decades doesn’t allow me to acquire immunity? What does immunity even mean in such a circumstance? What does “infection” even mean in such a circumstance?

Hint: the correct answer is “oops”.

  117. Speedbox says:

You can still get infected after you’ve been vaccinated, it’s just heaps less likely.

Half correct. The vaccine masks the symptoms so you become, effectively, asymptomatic. It does not alter the likelihood of infection.

The issue that the authorities are struggling to ascertain with certainty is whether a vaccinated person is able to transmit their infection even though the infected person has no symptoms. In a perfect world, if 100% of the population were vaccinated, we could all be a raging ball of infection but nobody would be ‘sick’ because nobody would have symptoms. Any re-transmission would be moot.

  118. Matt says:

I don’t know about you Figures, but I acquired my immunity to Hep B through vaccination, and varicella through having chicken pox as a child. It’s kind of how our immune system works.

100 per cent certainty you would act obtuse.

If harbouring the, say, hepatitis b virus for 10 years can result in illness (ie chronic hepatitis b infection leading to liver disease) then how do you propose a vaccine will work? Clearly there can be no such thing as immunity can there? Same for varicella. If immunity was a real thing then harbouring the varicella virus could not possibly cause shingles years down the track could it?

And the data, naturally, backs me up.

The hepatitis b vaccine has most assuredly not led to a decrease in liver disease/cancer.

In fact, liver disease is more common.

The vaccine, like all vaccines, is worthless.

Of course it is. There is as much chance of it working as that 2+2=5.

She explaiedhow the trials were conducted speedily with a large number of subjects and minimal bureaucracy and red tape involved , setting a new benchmark for future trials ,this is where I got my information from ,straight from the front line . That is why I reached the conclusion I did . If we are all vaccinated that removes a weapon from the socialist clontrol freaks and inspires public confidence .

  126. Ozman says:

Matt, you are a paid troll.

You have always been promoting false figures. You are a paid troll attempting to muddy the waters, trying to convince readers that you do research. If you did real research you would be citing the papers that show where the virus was isolated, then purified, then characterized, then shown in a clinical control to be contagious and reduplicated to become the gold standard.

You don’t cite the papers because they do not exist. Even on the CDC’s own website there is a major paper that states “no isolate exists” so a fake version was devised, the reference has been published on Catallaxy Files more than once.

You simply refuse to acknowledge the CDC directive to put “with COVID-19” on every death certificate possible in the USA. This includes when a medical officer thinks that one of the family members of the decedent may be asymptomatic.

The CDC directive is all deaths stating “with Covid” on the death certificate is be counted as an actual death from the imaginary deadly virus and not from heart disease, cancer, pneumonia, gunshot wound, road accident or any other fatal cause.

Now you want to argue that there is nothing sinister with medical tyranny and injecting unproven mRNA with other adjuvants (such as human aborted fetus cells, triton X-100, thimerosal, aluminum, and who knows what else) that cause severe reactions in people, killing them (e.g. Hank Aaron, and many tens of thousands in nursing homes).

The reality of these covid injections causing death and severe side effects is denied. Medical officers are being threatened, if they blow the whistle; so those that do, do so anonymously. Otherwise, they are treated like Simone Gold, who did not think the profession was replete with liars and sinister Dr Evil types. She is harassed, persecuted and threatened with deregistration for actually providing proven therapeutics to cure patients.

Nobody has a problem with the concept of using purified virus, alone, for vaccinations to create antibodies. Right now, this option does not exist. Why? Obtaining a purified virus is impossible. Even the CDC acknowledges it does not exist.

    he’s the best expert on it we have and the US Gov trusts him so you should too;
    OR;
anyone who gave such dangerous research to a documented process deficient lab should be sacked forthwith and never employed by Gov ever again.

You made the big claims about excess deaths Albo – so how about you put up or shut up.

I claimed you didn’t understand how they were calculated. I was right.

  154. Matt says:

    Albo:
    From CDC:
‘Number of deaths reported on this page are the total number of deaths received and coded as of the date of analysis and do not represent all deaths that occurred in that period. Data are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction and cause of death.’

The most recent data (ie. up to 8 weeks) is incomplete. Hence (your GLM):
‘Counts of deaths in the most recent weeks were compared with historical trends (from 2013 to present) to determine whether the number of deaths in recent weeks was significantly higher than expected, using Farrington surveillance algorithms (1). The ‘surveillance’ package in R (2) was used to implement the Farrington algorithms, which use overdispersed Poisson generalized linear models with spline terms to model trends in counts, accounting for seasonality.’

Which is why when I chart the weekly excess deaths I usually ignore the most recent ~6 weeks, because it’s only an estimate. But the data from 2020 isn’t. And check Euromomo, or UK PHE. Spin it how you like, there has been a significant increase in all cause mortality.

I say: “no. That is not how it works. 2+2=4 regardless of how many people think it = 5”.

Now answer the question instead of hiding under the skirt of other peoples’ opinions.

How can we acquire immunity to viruses that do not infect us on an *acute* basis? How does the concept of immunity even make any sense under that basis?

It doesn’t of course. You’ve got it all wrong. Every last bit of it. The fact that there are an awful lot of brainwashed imbeciles on your side doesn’t magically make you stop being wrong.

  164. Dot says:

  165. Matt says:

You keep rolling out that lame ‘2+2’ analogy like it actually means something.
You’re on your lonesome here in claiming that immunity to viruses doesn’t exist – no-one else is falling over themselves to back you up.
You seem to be caught up on the term ‘acute infection’ and it’s not really clear what you think that means.
If you are exposed to a virus, B-lymphocytes identify antigen proteins on the virus, and trigger production of immunoglobulins which act as a market for T-lymphocytes. If you are subsequently exposed to the virus your immune system is able to identify and react to the virus because it has already been exposed – hence immunity.

  166. Matt says:

Appeals to authority Dot – I thought that was anathema here.

  167. Matt says:

Tell me Dot – do you agree with Figures claim that you can’t acquire immunity to a virus.

  168. Figures says:

So far all you’ve done Albo is make some big claim about how you understand stats better than anyone, but you haven’t actually shown anything.

I don’t know about Albo but I know epidemiology better than everyone here combined.

The first, and most important, aspect of understanding epidemiology is to understand that it is almost all circular bullshit.

Whatever doctors believe will practically always manifest in the data regardless of how hopelessly wrong they are.

That’s why complete imbeciles like you look at, say, polio data and say “wow! That vaccine sure did the trick!” but me – and the vanishingly small number of other knowledgable people – say “no, you have to look at total paralysis data because the polio data merely reflects the hopes and aspirations of doctors not the reality of whether or not it prevents actual disease”.

    It’s why people

  169. Dot says:

You can’t respond to criticism with reason or data.

You assume to be an authority figure but won’t tell us your credentials?

Piss off Matt, you useless eater.

All you have is a free kick to smear us with that “Figures” deadshit.

  170. Figures says:

You seem to be caught up on the term ‘acute infection’ and it’s not really clear what you think that means.

Acute means “short”. That is, you have no virus on you and no symptoms. You then have some virus on you and some symptoms. Once you recover (assuming you do) you go back to zero virus and zero symptoms.

None of this is tricky mate. Not even for someone as stupid as you.

“If you are exposed to a virus, B-lymphocytes identify antigen proteins on the virus, and trigger production of immunoglobulins which act as a market for T-lymphocytes. If you are subsequently exposed to the virus your immune system is able to identify and react to the virus because it has already been exposed – hence immunity.”

Thanks mate. I can copy and paste dogma too. The question is: can you (or anybody else) make sense of it?

  171. Matt says:

There’s (one of) your problem(s) – you assume that being exposed to a virus ALWAYS leads to symptoms. Not true – hence asymptomatic infection. Virulence and infectious dose are factors in whether exposure leads to disease – if there is insufficient dose, then there won’t be disease (symptoms) – exactly because the immune system kicks in.

  172. Matt says:

I’m not assuming to be an authority figure Dot – but others are claiming to be experts. Albo made the claim that the CDC all-cause mortality data is wrong, but isn’t prepared to say why. My credentials have nothing to do with it.
Glad we can agree on Figures.

  173. Figures says:

    You’re on your lonesome here

Why do you keep obsessing over other peoples’ opinions?

If 8 billion people all told you that there was such a thing as a round square would you believe there was?

What proportion of the population has to believe that 2+2=4 in order for it to be true?

It is truly staggering to me that you know you can’t provide a single coherent argument for your position. You know with 100 per cent certainty that it must be wrong just as surely as 2+2=4 but you don’t care because to you, opinions overrule logic and facts.

  174. Figures says:

There’s (one of) your problem(s) – you assume that being exposed to a virus ALWAYS leads to symptoms. Not true – hence asymptomatic infection.

Mate those things being true (and they are true) are not problems for *me*. They are problems for *you*.

In particular, they prove that all of your beliefs are an impossible lie.

  175. Figures says:

*If* viruses do not infect us on an acute basis – and you just admitted that they do not – then the concept of immunity is absurd – the wrong answer to the wrong question.

Exposure to “pathogenic” viruses – as you just admitted – isn’t unusual. It isn’t even merely common. It is perpetual. So *if* immunity was a real thing then we would all be immune to every single virus and we would certainly be immune to viruses that our bodies harbour for decades.

Of course, it isn’t a real thing. But it’s worse than that. Not only is immunity nonsensical, so too is the idea that viruses cause disease.

Lunacy. It is literally the least plausible theory of disease in all of human history. Not one other theory has been more impossible in more ways than germ theory.

All anybody has to do to *observe* that it is abject lunacy is visit a doctor office or hospital. That is it. Just visit such a place and observe whether or not you die immediately. If not, then you know with absolute certainty that disease cannot be transmitted.

  176. Kneel says:

“Spin it how you like, there has been a significant increase in all cause mortality.”

Over what time frame? – a single years difference is silly given the variance.
What does long term data (not averages, raw data) plotted look like? – what does historical variance show is “normal”.
Did you adjust UK data for “fuel poverty” numbers (which have been rising)?
Any adjustments for lack of exercise, lack of social contact etc etc – things that “lockdowns” cause? – we need to control for other potential causes.

Are you just doing a univariate analysis, or are you doing multivariate? If you know about social science stats and/or medical stats (epidemiology) you know that no-one who is serious in these fields does a univariate analysis because it tells you nothing useful – you have to “control” for as much as you can to get meaningful results, and you need the multivariate analysis to get a handle on what percentages are caused by what factors.
Or did you just stop because it said what you wanted it to say?

    Oh? Really?

  178. Matt says:

    Kneel:
See here for yearly all-cause mortality since 1915 for long term trends (raw data) and here for weekly over the past 3 years.

I haven’t done the same for UK data, and I haven’t controlled for anything because I don’t have access to that level of data (or the time). If you think that 2020 compared to 2017-19 (on a weekly basis) or the past 10 years (on an annual basis) is just normal variation, I’m intrigued.

  179. Rex Anger says:

Still waiting for Bird to prove his theory by working for a year in a tuberculosis clinic, without prior vaccination or PPE. Much like many health professionals did in the days before the behaviour of aerosolised mycobacterium tuberculae was properly understood.

Healthy people in close contact with consumptives were still catching it in the 50s and 60s, after all. And it is still quite active within migrant groups…

  180. Figures says:

Much like many health professionals did in the days before the behaviour of aerosolised mycobacterium tuberculae was properly understood.

    Bizarre.

You completely destroyed your own argument.

Healthcare workers have – throughout all of human history – been surrounded by the sick (smallpox, TB, even the dreaded measles) – and yet they lived normal lifespans.

    How?

There is one and only one explanation.

There is no such thing as contagious disease.

  181. Figures says:

Anyway Matt, I’m waiting on your explanation.

Having Dot on your side doesn’t make you right.

  182. Matt says:

It seems like you think diseases are psychosomatic:
Obviously, a rash that is focused can only be caused by the mind.

So I guess all the HCW who contracted COVID working in hospitals just willed themselves to be sick?

  183. Rex Anger says:

So it can be assumed then, that Bird does not wish to risk a moment of weak-mindedness or distraction similar to the sick people around it, wihile demonstrating its allegedly superior willpower to the rest of us?

Why do you keep obsessing over other peoples’ opinions?

This is how weak-minded people have always been. Throw in a failing education system and a media and political class who flatter puffed-up wannabes, and you get Matt. What a turd.

So I guess all the HCW who contracted COVID working in hospitals just willed themselves to be sick?

Let’s conduct an experiment to see if such a thing is possible. How are you feeling, you pompous blowhard?

  186. Ed Case says:

***Healthy people in close contact with consumptives were still catching it in the 50s and 60s, after all. ***
Rubbish, show us your proof, if you can?

    I doubt that.
    Immigrants are screened for TB.

  187. Rex Anger says:

***Healthy people in close contact with consumptives were still catching it in the 50s and 60s, after all. ***
Rubbish, show us your proof, if you can?

Article 1, Dumbshit. 1940s USA. Public Health posters of this nature don’t exist where there is no health issue.

In fact, TB is still very active across Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Just because one hasn’t coughed on you, Grigory, doesn’t mean it isn’t real…

***&And it is still quite active within migrant groups…***
    I doubt that.
    Immigrants are screened for TB.

    Really, Grigory?

    I mean, really?

Did you spend time working in association with a medical system that copped all the TB patients from Christmas Island? I did.

Screening is one thing. Controlling those myriad patients with the bug (some with very severe bacterial loads and damage) was the key. Fortunately, most are controllable with careful antibiotic therapy.

It was only 2 or 3 years ago, that some PNG TB patients caused serious panic in Queensland, when they turned up with a bug that was completely resistant to everything the QLD Health Service would normally prescribe to treat it…

  188. Figures says:

So I guess all the HCW who contracted COVID working in hospitals just willed themselves to be sick?

    They didn’t “contract” anything.

No doubt many got sick (as people sometimes do) and pathologists ran as many cycles as necessary to get a “positive” test result (as they would have assumed COVID was the cause).

You’re intensely stupid Matt so your response to my comment that epidemiology is circular bullshit is to say “ummm, but what about this circular argument? Surely this one counts doesn’t it?”

It does not count and you’re an imbecile.

  189. Figures says:

Oh and Matt you complete moron, can you explain what “tonic immobility” is?

And when you do, keep in mind the word “polio”.

Rex I couldn’t understand your “argument” at all.

But I’ll say this just to annoy you and Matt further.

TB the illness is the flip side to lung cancer. Real rates of lung cancer did not rise in the 20th century and TB didn’t fall. All that happened was diagnostic substitution as they’re essentially impossible to distinguish. The vaccine was worthless against TB and antibiotics were only good to suppress symptoms and what’s more (and this level of independent thinking will make Matt spontaneously combust) lung cancer has precisely zero to do with smoking.

And by the way Matt and Rex, psychosomatic implies the symptoms themselves are in your head. But the symptoms are actually very real. That’s why you need to read up on tonic immobility.

  190. Figures says:

    Quoting me:

Exposure to “pathogenic” viruses – as you just admitted – isn’t unusual. It isn’t even merely common. It is perpetual. So *if* immunity was a real thing then we would all be immune to every single virus and we would certainly be immune to viruses that our bodies harbour for decades.

    Matt?

    Matt?

    Wherefore art thou Matt?

  191. Kneel says:

“See here for yearly all-cause mortality since 1915 for long term trends (raw data)”

A time series – how nice.
OK, there was a “spike” (if you want to call it that) in 2020.
    What was different in 2020?
    Kung Flu – obviously.
But also the reaction to it – lockdowns, travel bans, mask mandates etc. People staying indoors more often, where it is KNOWN that this tends to cause more spread of infections.
Many people with severely reduced income, which affects their ability to purchase high quality food, to go to the gym, to socialise and so on – old people, especially those near death, are far more likely to die if they are lonely and people who eat nothing but junk food and don’t exercise tend to die earlier and more often.

Gun sales are through the roof in the US, and so are homicides (eg NYC up >100% compared to the previous year, some other major cities are similar). Rioting caused over $2B in insured damages, and much more all up than that, also affecting incomes and lifestyles. A couple of landfalling hurricanes, which have been very much absent in recent years. Ditto tornadoes. Personal, as well as sovereign debt has ballooned, increasing stress.
Police have had reduced funding, creating more stress, especially for those in low income areas.
Stress just doesn’t cause heart attacks, it significantly depresses your immune system!

Without the multi-variate analysis, you could easily confuse cause and effect, or miss the boat entirely – is CCP Virus as bad as it is because of extra stresses and lockdowns exposing more immunologically suppressed people to high loads of a novel virus? Maybe.

The whole thing is illogical – much like the “gender pay gap”, no analysis to understand WHY, just the assumption that the most obvious (or perhaps more accurately, the most widely reported) difference being to blame – that it is somehow the ONLY difference. It is not.

You say you don’t have access to the data and meta-data, nor the time to perform such a multi-variate analysis. I am fine with that, and am not asking YOU to do it. But I question that you cannot find such already done – has no-one done it? Have they done it, but it’s hard to find because, say, it goes against the narrative? Did you actually find it, but it didn’t say what you wanted it to say, and so didn’t cite it? Not accusing you here, just enumerating possibilities (there are many more, of course).
And yes, you DO need to find this – YOU are the one saying the cause is obvious, so show me the convincing evidence it is!
No control for age, income, obesity and other pre-existing conditions like diabetes, heart disease and so on means you DON’T KNOW, don’t even have a hint as to WHY this “bump”/”spike”/whatever came about. None. The data you presented has nothing to say on causes.

Bear in mind, I’m not saying you are wrong to say that COVID is the cause – I am saying you have not presented much – anything, really – in the way of evidence that it is the cause. You assume it is. That’s fine, you can do that to see where it might take you. But assumption isn’t proof, it’s not even evidence, it’s just opinion.
And opinion – even expert opinion – is a pretty poor predictor. Expert opinion is often no better than 50%, which is about chance levels, so very poor as a predictor. The best opinion-as-predictor is the “wisdom of the crowd”, which appears to be saying that this virus does not warrant the measures taken and is nowhere near as dangerous as you would have us believe.

  192. Matt says:

I agree with you Kneel on the consequences of lockdowns, but they will tend to play out in the medium-long term (in terms of mortality) rather than show up in 2020, and for large parts of USA (for that data specifically) there wasn’t a hard lockdown for extended periods (like we had in Victoria for example). And when you look at Victoria – there hasn’t been a spike in all-cause mortality that would suggest that lockdowns have been detrimental. And the Australian economy is recovering better than most in the world.

Whether some of this analysis has been done – if it has I haven’t seen it, and I suspect it will take some time – consider the lag already on accurate mortality data, and then the lag on accessing other data – and then the lag to analyse and publish. But I’ll keep looking.

As to wisdom of the crowd – I guess it depends on which crowd you are in.

But the evidence suggests that this is more serious than influenza despite what many would want you to believe. Whether it warrants the level of response – only time will tell.

  193. Albatross says:

Matt you’re dumber than last week’s shit.

  194. Figures says:

Matt: COVID is a raging killer and death rates in places with lots of COVID infections have skyrocketed.

Also Matt: Victoria’s death rate is perfectly normal despite having lots of COVID cases.

  195. Matt says:

Do try to pay attention Figures – Victoria didn’t have a lot of cases compared to many places because of NPIs.
